Lambert ESTELLINE - Otis R. "Blackie" Lambert, 91, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in Memphis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Hill officiating. Burial was in Estelline Cemetery. Mr. Lambert was born in Fort Worth. He was an Army veteran of World War II who served in the Rhineland in Central Europe and was awarded two Bronze Stars. He was a Baptist. He married Claudine Carroll in 1980 at Altus, Okla. Survivors include his wife and a brother, Billy Lambert, of Lubbock. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Ina M. Bryan PERRYTON - Ina M. Bryan, 71, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Church of Christ with J.A. Farber, her brother and minister of Church of Christ in Cyril, officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Bryan was born in Pernell and moved to Perryton in 1959 from Pampa. For 20 years, she was employed as a nurse. She also worked at the Fabric Mart for more than 10 years and for her son at his business for the past 31/2 years. She married Harvey D. Bryan in 1946 at Beckham County. He died in 1975. Survivors include a daughter, Peggy Gillum of Chelsea; three sons, Jerry Bryan, Jackie Bryan and Steven Bryan, all of Perryton; three sisters, Geraldine Tyson of Sayre, Okla., Norma Jean McMahon of Shamrock, and Patricia Pair of Eric, Okla.; two brothers, Hershel Farber of Pampa and J.A. Farber of Cyril; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Joe Wesley Brown McLEAN - Joe Wesley Brown, 84, died Friday, Oct. 15, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Hillcrest Cemetery with the Rev. James Martindale, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Lamb Funeral Home of McLean. Mr. Brown was born in Titus County. He retired in 1989 after 42 years as a pumper in the oil fields. He then farmed and ranched in Wheeler and Gray counties. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He married Beatrice Brown in 1939 at Sayre, Okla. They lived in the Kellerville, Pakan and McLean areas. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Ada Durham of Groom; a son, Dan Brown of San Diego; two granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren. Viewing will be today and until 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Lamb Funeral Home. Annie Pugh Miller McLEAN - Annie Pugh Miller, 83, died Friday, Oct. 16, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Hillcrest Cemetery with the Rev. Quinton Newton, pastor of First Assembly of God Church of McLean, officiating. A praise service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in First Assembly of God Church of McLean with the Rev. Dean Williamson, pastor of First Assembly of God Church of Stratford, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Miller was born in Heald and had lived in McLean for most of her life. She graduated from McLean High School in 1933 and attended West Texas State Teachers College for a year. For many years, she owned and operated a beauty shop. Mrs. Miller was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in McLean. In August, she moved to Pampa. She married D.L. "Runt" Miller in 1944. He preceded her in death in 1980. Survivors include a son, Joe Miller of Glendale, Ariz.; a daughter, Mauree Moore of Pampa; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Lavake, 81, died Friday, Oct. 16, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Stewart, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Stratford Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Lavake was born and raised in Sherman County and Stratford where he was a lifelong resident. During World War II, he served in the Army. He was a farmer and a prior member of the Sherman County Commissioners Court. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He married Georgianna Sims in 1939 at Clayton, N.M. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Susan Wheeler of Stratford; a son, John S. Lavake of Stratford; two sisters, Hilda Naugle of Sunray and Minnie Reeder of Stratford; and five grandchildren. The family will be at 919 N. Fifth in Stratford. Frank M. Sissons Jr. BORGER - Frank M. Sissons Jr., 76, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday in St. John's Catholic Church with the Rev. John Hickey of St. Martin's Catholic Church of Amarillo officiating. Mr. Sissons was born in Ottawa, Ill. He served in World War II as a sergeant in the Army Air Corps. In 1977, he moved to Borger from Bay City. He retired after 37 years with Phillips as a design engineer supervisor. Mr. Sissons was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus as a third and fourth degree, American Legion and Borger Duplicate Bridge Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Ann, in 1983. Survivors include seven sons, John Sissons of Pasadena, Dr. Phillip Sissons of Gadsden, Ala., David Sissons of Seguin, Paul Sissons of Georgetown, Kevin Sissons of Borger, James R. He was a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church. He married Helen V. Gabel in 1953 at Amarillo. She preceded him in death in 1995. Survivors include a brother, W.R. He married Mae Alcomb in 1995 at Amarillo. He was preceded in death by twin daughters, Katie Lynn and Kanzas Mae. She was a homemaker and member of Coulter Road Baptist Church. She married Wendell Hampton in 1939 at Rocky Ford. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Sharon K. Scott of Canyon; two sons, Ronald C. Hampton of El Paso and Jimmy L. Hampton of Pampa; two sisters, Dorothy Odom of Amarillo and Ruby Workman of Lubbock; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Knepp Sr. Meredith M. Knepp Sr., 75, of Canyon, died Friday, Oct. 16, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Memorial Park Funeral Home, Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Bob Orear and D.J. Hastings officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Knepp was born in Kalona, Iowa. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1942 until 1945. He moved to Amarillo in 1950. For 30 years, Mr. Knepp was employed as a technician in heating and air conditioning. He retired as security in a bank. He was a member of Pipe Fitters Union No. 196 for 45 years and North Grand Street Church of Christ. He married Virginia "Gina" Joiner in 1946 at Portales, N.M. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Meredith Knepp Jr., and Kimberly L. Knepp, both of Amarillo, and Douglas K. Knepp of Wickenburg, Ariz.; a daughter, Angela Robyn Hagler of Amarillo; a brother, Ervin E. Knepp of Morse, Iowa; a sister, La Velda Ayers of Pocahontas, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren. New Mexico Glendon Buckley TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Glendon Buckley, 78, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998. Mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Anne's Catholic Church by the Rev. John C. Daniel of St. Anne's. Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home. Mrs. Buckley was born in Glenns Falls, N.Y., and had been a resident of Tucumcari since 1974. She was a member of the St. Anne's Catholic Church, the Public Employee Retirement Association, the American Chemical Society and the St. Anne's Music Department. She was retired from the city of Tucumcari where she had developed the waste water department and was director. She held that position until her retirement. Survivors include a sister, Janet Buckley of South Glenns Falls, N.Y.; and two long time companions, Margaret M. Tuel and Phyllis Knothe, both of Tucumcari. The family requests memorials be to St. Anne's Catholic Church Music Department in her memory. The body will be available for viewing at the funeral home until service time today. Mary Horne Bresenham CLOVIS, N.M. - Mary Horne Bresenham, 82, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church, 1501 Sycamore in Clovis, with the Rev. Chuck Bader officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mrs. Bresenham was born in Bard and graduated from San Jon High School. She attended Texas Tech University and the University of New Mexico. She graduated from Amarillo College where she was Phi Theta Kappa. As a young woman, she was a teacher. Mrs. Bresenham joined the First United Methodist Church in 1946 where she remained a member. She also was a member of Eastern Star, Clovis Women's Club, United Methodist Women, American Legion 8 & 40, Grey Lady for Red Cross, Cub Scout den mother, Girl Scouts, PTA and Rainbow Girls. She married Floyd Bresenham in 1936. He preceded her in death in 1984. Survivors include two sons, Jack Bresenham of Rock Hill, S.C., and Dick Bresenham of Carrollton, Texas; a daughter, Nancy Boswell of Corrales; two brothers, Jack Horne of Santa Fe and Tommy Horne of Marble Falls, Texas; and four grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to American Heart Association. Worth Hay PORTALES, N.M. - Worth Hay, 39, of Highway, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Lewis Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Portales Cemetery. Mr. Hay was born in Portales where he attended school and graduated from Portales High School in 1978. For several years, he worked in the ENMRSH program in Clovis, Tucumcari, Santa Rosa and Portales. For the past eight years, he made his home at the family ranch. He was a member of Milnesand Baptist Church. Survivors include his parents, Fern and George Hay of the family ranch at Highway; and a sister, Jeannette Bass of Gardendale, Texas. Joseph Hankins Sr. CLOVIS, N.M. - Joseph Hankins Sr., 67, died Friday, Oct. 16, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in West 21st Street Church of Christ with Cecil Bunch and Skip Clark officiating. Burial will be in the National Cemetery in Santa Fe by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mr. Hankins was a 20-year veteran of the Air Force and had served in both Korea and Vietnam. He retired as master sergeant. He was co-owner of Widner-Hankins Garage for five years and was employed by Santa Fe Railroad for 11 years. In 1968, Mr. Hankins moved to Clovis. He was a member of the West 21st Street Church of Christ where he was a deacon and an elder for several years. He married Fern Lowe in 1955 at Lebanon, Va. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Joe Hankins and Mike Hankins, both of Clovis, and Rick Hankins of Albuquerque; a daughter, Betts Byrd of Spokane, Wash.; his mother, Claudia Hankins of Cedar Bluff, Va.; a sister, Betty Richardson of Cedar Bluff; and five grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Youth Fund, West 21st Street Church of Christ; or New Mexico Christian Children's Home of Portales. Oklahoma Emil H. Berg GUYMON, Okla. - Emil H. Berg, 89, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Billy Martin, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Henson-Novak Directors of Guymon. Mr. Berg was born in Beresford, S.D. The Berg family pioneered to Texas County in 1913, homesteading near Goodwell. He retired in 1984 as a farmer and also was employed by the Henry C. Hitch Ranch for over 25 years. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. He married Helen Mae Phifer in 1934 at Guymon. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Leota Marcetas Zimlich of Bells, Texas; four sons, Kenneth Wayne Berg of Broomfield, Colo., Melvin Eugene Berg of Westminster, Colo., Leon Gilbert Berg of Guymon and Gail Lynn Berg of Carrollton, Texas; two sisters, Grace Rock and Clara Byers, both of Guymon; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren. George Thomas Burdge HOOKER, Okla. - George Thomas Burdge, 88, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 1998. Memorial services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Christian Church with the Rev. Irvin Stanke officiating. Burial was in Hooker Cemetery with Eddy Scoggins officiating. Arrangements were by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home of Hooker. Mr. Burdge was born and raised in Hooker. He attended PAMC at Goodwell and graduated from Wichita Business School. He was the Sunday School Superintendent of the Baptist church for many years. He worked for the Burdge Implement Co., and later for the Hooker Hardware. In 1947, he opened the George T. Burdge International Harvester dealership. After the business closed in 1965, he continued farming until his retirement. Mr. Burdge was a member of the Lions Club, Chamber of Commerce, the IOOF Lodge and was a 32nd degree Mason. He served as councilman and mayor of Hooker. For 30 years, he was a volunteer fireman. He played saxophone in the Hooker City Band and played the part of "End Man" in the Hooker Minstrels. His second wife was Elizabeth "Betty" Thompson of Hooker. His first wife, Nellie Harper, died in 1962. Survivors include his wife; his daughter, Sue Vestal of Santa Fe, N.M.; two sons, Tom Burdge of Liberal, Kan., and Lloyd Burdge of Tipp City, Ohio; a stepson, Conley Thompson of San Antonio; two stepdaughters, Sandra Reed of Moore and Pattye Cleaton of Bartlesville; a sister, Nellie Hammack of Hooker; six grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; a great-grandson; and seven step-greatgrandchildren. Virgie Mathilda Anne Bauer GUYMON, Okla. - Virgie Mathilda Anne Bauer, 90, died Friday, Oct. 16, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Trinity Lutheran Church in Guymon with Mark Wescoatt, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery north of Guymon by Henson-Novak Funeral Home of Guymon. Mrs. Bauer was born north of Guymon and attended Bartels schools. In 1926, she graduated as salutatorian of her class at Guymon High School. She then taught at Bartels schools for the next two years. An early member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Mrs. Bauer taught Sunday School and was the first president of the Ladies Aid. Mrs. Bauer was active as a 4-H leader and served as superintendent of the 4-H department of the Texas County Fair. She and her husband farmed. They were among the first in the community to have irrigated farming. She married Leo Henry Bauer in 1927. He preceded her in death in 1986. Survivors include a son, Lanny Bauer of Guymon; two daughters, Dolores Plepho and Loretta Reeves; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Lutheran Hour Ministries and may be left at the church office or at the funeral home.
