Arrangements were by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40, in Amarillo. Mrs. Jordan was born in Belle, W.Va., and was raised near Charleston, W. Va. She moved to Fritch seven years ago from Houston. She married Ramee D. Jordan in 1950. She was a homemaker and attended the Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Ramee D. Jordan II and Richard M. "Marty" Jordan; a daughter, V. Connie Utley; a sister, Connie M. Selbe; her mother, L. Mae Peck of Belle; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson. The family will be in Fritch. Pearl Seedig PERRYTON - Pearl Seedig, 87, formerly of Perryton, died Sunday, April 19, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Bethlehem Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gary Caulkins officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Seedig was born in Lamar, Colo. She moved from Colorado in 1914 to Lipscomb County. She moved from Lipscomb County to Perryton, where she lived from 1947 until moving to Amarillo in March. She graduated from Follett High School and attended Draughon's Business School. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She married Louis Lee Seedig in 1948 at Perryton. He died in 1971. Survivors include a daughter, Eleanor Sanders of Amarillo; a brother, Harold Nagel of Perryton; and two grandchildren. The family will be at 1201 S. Harvard. They request memorials be to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Box 672, Perryton, Texas 79070. Huffman Walker WHEELER - Huffman Walker, 76, died Friday, April 17, 1998, in Kansas City, Mo. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Toby Henson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home. Other arrangements were by McGilley & Hoge Johnson County Chapel. Mr. Walker was born in Wheeler. He was a federal agency administrator. He received his bachelor of science degree in business at the University of Oklahoma in 1946. He did post-graduate work during 1946-47 and at the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1971. He was a certified professional contracts manager. He worked as an assistant station agent for the Oklahoma Railway Co. in Oklahoma City from 1947-48. He also worked in various management positions for Pontiac Motor-GM in Kansas City, Mo. Mr. Walker was president and owner of Rebonda Enterprises at Prairie Village, Kan., from 1965-67 and a contracting officer at Office Econ. Opportunity at Kansas City from 1967-73. He served with the Navy Reserve from 1942-45 and was aboard the USS Gosselin, APD 126 in the Pacific during World War II. Mr. Walker was a member of the Kansas Motor Car Dealers Association and its board of directors. He served as treasurer of the Sons of the Confederacy from 1967-98 and as president of the Kansas City chapter of the University of Oklahoma Alumni Association from 1991-98. He was a member of Phi Kappa Sigma. He participated in and was an organizer of various Special Olympics in the Kansas City area and was a member of Village Presbyterian Church. Survivors include a son, H. Reed Walker of Prairie Village, Kan.; two daughters, Rhonda Walker of Pompano Beach, Fla., and Rebecca A. Farrar of Robinson, Kan.; a brother, Norris C. Elsewhere Verlin M. Rains CLANTON, Ala. - Verlin M. Rains, 69, died Wednesday, April 15, 1998, in Birmingham. Services were Friday in Martin Funeral Home Chapel at Clanton. Cremation was by Abanks Crematory at Birmingham. Mr. Rains was born in Payne County, Okla., and was living in Clanton. He was a chef. He served in the Navy. Survivors include three sons, Leon G. Rains of Clanton, and Merlin Rains and Shon Rains, both of Port Orchard, Wash.; two daughters, Dian Bird of Stillwater, Okla., and Debbie Garcia of Gilroy, Calif.; and 14 grandchildren. James D. Hawkins CHILLICOTHE, Mo. - James D. Hawkins, 80, died Sunday, April 19, 1998. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Lindley Funeral Home. Mr. Hawkins was born in Walters, Okla. He lived in Amarillo and Grandview. In 1970, he moved to Mirable, where lived until 1989, when he moved to Chillicothe. He married Eva L. Cox in 1955 at Clarendon, Texas. Mr. Hawkins was a truck driver for 40 years. He also rebuilt antique tractors and raised horses. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and a former member of the Kingston Lions Club. Survivors include his wife; four sons, James Hawkins, Barry Hawkins and Johnny Hawkins, all of Amarillo, and Jim Hawkins of St. Louis; four daughters, Nancy Gulish, Susie Marthaller and Fran Scaggs, all of Amarillo, and Judy Cope of Chillicothe; two brothers, Marion Hawkins and John Hawkins, both of Walters; two sisters, Margett Carpenter and Louise Commings, both of Walters; 22 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Kerrville Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bill Blackburn officiating. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in Pontotoc Cemetery at Pontotoc, Miss. Mr. Fontaine was born in Pontotoc. He served with the Marines during World War II. He was a commercial insurance broker. He retired to Kerrville several years ago. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Wandalee L. Fontaine; four stepchildren, Louise Anderson of Amarillo, Lori Russell of Plano, Susan Guthrie of Columbus, Ohio, and Scott Campbell of Austin; and two grandchildren. Grant Walton FORT WORTH - Grant Walton, 55, died Saturday, April 18, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Emerald Hills Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Arlington. Burial will be in Emerald Hills Memorial Park in Arlington. Mr. Walton was born in Hawthorne, Calif. He graduated from Oklahoma University in 1965. He worked for the cities of Amarillo and Midland for several years. He had been an employee for the city of Fort Worth for eight years. He was an accounting supervisor. Survivors include his wife, Judy Harrell Walton; two sons, Bryan Lee Walton and Curtis Reynolds; two daughters, Connie Henderson and Cindy Pinkerston; two sisters, Gene Elliston of Bisbee, Ariz., and Mary Woods of Tulsa, Okla.; and two grandchildren. Visitation will be at the funeral home today from 7 to 9 p.m. Arthur L. Anderson REDLANDS, Calif. - Retired Lt. Col. Arthur L. Anderson, 77, died Saturday, April 18, 1998. Services will be at noon Wednesday at Cortner Chapel. Burial will be at 1:45 in Riverside National Cemetery at Riverside. Retired Lt. Col. Anderson was born in Amarillo. He lived in Amarillo until enlisting in the Army Air Corps in 1942. He was commissioned a second lieutenant in 1943 and remained in the service until 1946. Following his release from active duty, he was employed in Alaska as a personnel manager for a large construction firm. After three years, he and his wife, Betty, accepted a position managing a trading post in Kotzebue, Alaska. In 1951, he was recalled to active duty with the Air Force during the Korean War. The last 10 years of his military career, he was assigned to ICBM programs. He was one of the first officers assigned to the new Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. He was a member of the launch team that launched the first operational Atlas missile. In 1961, he was transferred to Norton Air Force Base as a member of the Air Force Inspector General Office. He later was transferred to the Ballistic Systems Division as a research and development officer. He retired in 1966. Following retirement, retired Lt. Col. Anderson was employed by GTE and continued to support BSD by representing GTE's responsibilities for the command and control systems for the Minuteman Missile System. He retired after 20 years of service with the Government Systems Division of GTE in 1986. He received a bachelor's degree in business and a master's degree in public administration. He also attended several Air Force Technical Schools studying electronics and missile systems engineering. Retired Lt. Col. Anderson had lived in Redlands for 37 years. He had been a retired lieutenant colonel for 35 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Betty "Bucy" Anderson, in 1995. Survivors include a son, Richard D. Anderson of Granbury, Texas; a sister, Helen Harness of Alaska; and two grandchildren. Visitation will be at the funeral home today from 5 to 7 p.m. June Schwertner Herbst SLATON - June Schwertner Herbst, 36, of Houston, a former Slaton resident, died Monday, April 13, 1998. Services were last week. Mrs. Herbst was born in Slaton. She graduated from Texas Tech University with a master's degree in education. She married Fred L. Herbst in 1986 at Slaton. She was an organist and had played for churches for 20 years. Survivors include her husband; a son, Garrett of Houston; two daughters, Rochelle and Alyssa, both of Houston; her parents, Rudy and Vera Schwertner of Wilson; five brothers, Cary, Travis and Bryan, all of Lubbock, Rick of Snyder and Paul of Moscow, Kan.; and three sisters, Elaine Watson of Amarillo, Bonnie Finke of Austin and Suzanne Schwertner of Dallas. Mrs. Whitten was born in Denton County. She moved to Sudan from Lubbock County in 1942. She was a 1956 graduate of Sudan High School. She was employed at West Plains Hospital in Muleshoe and was a bookkeeper for Baccus Chevrolet in Sudan. She had been a dispatcher and jailer for the Lamb County Sheriff's Office. She married Jimmy Glasscock in Sudan. He died in 1975. She married Kermit Whitten in 1979 at Sudan. Survivors include her husband; a son, Jimmy Kyle Glasscock of Clovis, N.M.; four daughters, Mitzi Stewart and Karen Whitten, both of Lubbock, Kay Lynn Johnson of Fort Worth and Kendra Blanton of Abilene; five sisters, Marie Allen of Littlefield, Jo Quesenberry of Amarillo, Dorothy Breedlove of Slaton, and Mutt Hanna and Ann Hill, both of Sudan; and a grandson. She married Roy O'Daniel in 1972 at Amarillo. The family will be at 81 N. Maryland. Timothy Michael Bonner Jr. Timothy "Tim" Michael Bonner Jr., 47, was found Sunday, April 19, 1998. He moved to Amarillo in 1960 from Springfield, Ill. He was a shop supervisor for Ferrell-Ross. He was Catholic. Survivors include his mother, Virginia Bonner of Amarillo; and two sisters, Barbara Ann Bonner of St. Louis and Mary Catherine Bonner of Havana, Ill. The family will be at 3023 N. Vernon. The body will not be available for viewing. Willie Faye Peninger Willie Faye Peninger, 94, formerly of Amarillo, died Saturday, April 18, 1998. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Davenport officiating. Arrangements are by Martin Funeral Home of Elk City, Okla. Mrs. Peninger was born in Canton. When she was 6, she moved with her family to Canute, Okla., and graduated from high school there. She married Joshua H. Peninger in 1924 at Canute. They lived in the Canute community until 1930, when they moved to Elk City. In 1950, they moved to Amarillo, where Mrs. Peninger lived until 1992, when she entered Bell Avenue Nursing Home in Elk City. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1975. Survivors include three children, Dean Peninger of Elk City, Travis W. Peninger of Amarillo and Norma Jean Walton of Kermit; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. (CDT) in Littlefield Memorial Park at Littlefield, Texas. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Dailey was born in Cleveland. He married Suzanne Leslie in 1948 at Cleveland. They moved to Clovis in 1973. Mr. Dailey retired from Smythe Auto, where he had been an auto parts salesman. He was a member of the Clovis Men's Bowling Association. Survivors include his wife. The family requests memorials be to the American Heart Association or the Diabetic Foundation. The casket will be closed for services. Visitation will be at the funeral home until 10 a.m. today. Kenneth Drissel CLOVIS, N.M. - Kenneth Drissel, 75, died Wednesday, March 18, 1998. Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Gordon Christiansen officiating. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home. Burial was at Sunset Ridge Memorial Park at Kenosha, Wis. Mr. Drissel was born in Kenosha. He married Hazel M. Dow in 1945 at St. Louis. They moved to Clovis in 1993. Mr. Drissel was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Carnine Wiseman Post No. 3280, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and Trinity Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, James Drissel of Apex, N.C., and Michael Drissel of Grand Junction, Colo.; three daughters, Katherine Colter of Fall Creek, Wis., and Debbie McRoberts and Wendy Sandine, both of Kenosha; two sisters, Lois Larson and Avis Bennett, both of Kenosha; 13 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Oklahoma Marion Juanita Davis GUYMON, Okla. - Marion Juanita "Mom" Davis, 76, died Sunday, April 19, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Christian Church with the Rev. Don Chase and the Rev. David Cook of United Methodist Church at Hooker officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home. Mrs. Davis was born and raised in Holdenville. She graduated from Holdenville High School in 1939 and attended junior college at Okmulgee for two years. She married Clement Davis in 1940 at Holdenville. They moved to White Deer, Texas. In 1948, they moved to Hooker. She sang with and directed the Lions Club Minstrels for many years and served as manager for Mike Grey's congressional campaign. In 1959, Mrs. Davis attended Panhandle State University at Goodwell. She graduated with a bachelor of science degree in music and psychology. They moved to Guymon in 1961 and she began teaching at Guymon High School in both music and psychology. She retired in 1983 after teaching for 22 years. She directed many musicals in Guymon and taught voice lessons. She was a member of First Christian Church and sang in choirs at the churches in Guymon and Hooker. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband in 1992. Survivors include two daughters, Marion Duncan of Hooker and Peggy Boren of Guymon; a brother, Richard J. Shurley of Edmond; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
