Hughes St. Mrs. Johnson was born in Muskogee, Okla., and had been an Amarillo resident more than 50 years. She was a domestic worker. Survivors include a brother, John Wesley Pollard of Oklahoma City; three sisters, Doris Pollard and Sarah Mahan, both of Los Angeles, and Ruth Mae Taylor of Muskogee. The family will be at 1702 N. Washington St. Willie F. Lee Willie F. "Cowboy" Lee, 65, of Amarillo, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998. Services will be at 7 p.m. today in Warford-Walker Mortuary Inc. Chapel of Roses, 509 N. Hughes St., with the Rev. E.D. Fields, pastor of Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church, officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Marshall. Mr. Lee was born in Karnac and had lived in Amarillo more than 40 years. He was a member of Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church. Survivors include a sister, Bobbie Green of Marshall. George Watson George Watson, 79, of Amarillo, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998. Cremation arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Watson was born in Junction City, La. He moved to Amarillo more than 40 years ago from Texarkana. He was employed by Union Pacific Railroad for more than 30 years. He married Rosa Sayles in 1944 at Texarkana. He was preceded in death by his wife and a son, Joseph Watson, both in 1987. Survivors include a daughter, Clara Watson Layfette of Portland, Ore.; two sons, Herman Watson of Anderson, Colo., and George Watson of Portland; a brother, Robert Watson of St. Louis; 18 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Logan Davis Everett Logan Davis Everett, infant son of Jacon Allen and Christine Marie Everett of Amarillo, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998. McClure Hilda C. McClure, 87, of Amarillo, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Glen Walton of North Amarillo Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. McClure had lived in Amarillo for the past 58 years. She was a homemaker and member of North Amarillo Church of Christ. She had been married for 67 years to Roderick C. McClure. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997, and by a son, Roderick B. McClure. Survivors include two sons, Billy McClure of Amarillo and Larry McClure; three daughters, Regena Somerville and Deloris Powers, both of Amarillo, and Wanda Bibas of East Providence, R.I.; a brother, Charles Glasgow of Austin; a sister, Modine Gladsgow of Forth Worth; 16 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Jesse Reece Dowd Jesse Reece Dowd, 59, of Amarillo, died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998. Cremation arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Chapel, 1010 W. Ninth Ave. Mr. Dowd was born in Wynnewood, Okla., and moved to Amarillo in 1950. He was employed as a car salesman. Survivors include two brothers, Roy Floyd Dowd of Charlie and Ken Maynard Dowd of Missouri; two sisters, Delma James and Edna Lucille Smith, both of Oklahoma; and a special friend, Shirley Allen of Amarillo. John A. Pierce John A. Pierce, 76, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998. A vigil will be at 7:30 p.m. today in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Mr. Pierce was born in Welch, Okla., and moved to Amarillo in 1954. He joined the Air Force when he was 18 years old. He served for 31/2 years, training pilots and crew members on B-25s. He was a former owner of Stockyard's Service and Garage. He was a charter member of St. Hyacinth's Catholic Church. Mr. Pierce married Eva Winton in 1944 at Miami, Okla. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Penny Teehee of Amarillo; a son, John Scott Pierce of Austin; four sisters, Agnes Stafford of Pryor, Okla., Maxine LaMonte of Oklahoma City, Marie Carter of Miami and Betty Chenoweth of Welch; four brothers, Jim Pierce of Welch, Joe Pierce of Stillwater, Jerry Pierce of Miami, Okla., and Sammy Pierce of Bellville; and two grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center. New Mexico Steven Russell CLOVIS, N.M. - Steven "Big Bud" Russell, 31, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Sandia Baptist Church with the Rev. James Burke officiating. Burial will be in House Cemetery at House by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Inc. Mr. Russell was born in Portales. He graduated from Floyd High School in 1985. He attended Eastern New Mexico University almost two years. He was the assistant basketball and volleyball coach at Floyd for about seven years. In 1995-96, he was the head basketball and volleyball coach at Elida. Survivors include his mother, Faunetta Lee of Clovis; and five sisters, Laura Peacock of House, Gloria Hohstadt of Clovis, Tammy Blackwell of Portales, Tina Hill of Ruidoso and Tracy Hargrove of Farwell, Texas. Elsewhere David Totah Sr. PLANO - David Totah Sr., 84, a former Amarillo resident, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998. Prayer services will be at 7 p.m. today in Sparkman-Dickey Funeral Home in Dallas. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Sparkman-Dickey Funeral Home. Mr. Totah received his bachelor's degree in 1941 from Kansas State University. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He retired after 20 years of service with the Department of the Interior. He lived in Amarillo from 1971 until 1997, when he moved to Plano. He married his wife, Mary, 40 years ago. Survivors include his wife; a son, David Totah Jr. of Plano; and a brother, George Totah of Victoria. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery. Mrs. Lievsay was born in Achille, Okla., and had lived in the Borger area for 63 years. She was a former employee of Morley Theater, Heard-Jones Drug Store and Highland Pharmacy in Pampa for 19 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.R. Lievsay, in 1955. Survivors include two daughters, Elva Compton of Fritch and Wilda Bennett of Bakersfield, Calif.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Jerry R. Krahn VEGA - Jerry R. Krahn, 49, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Vega United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Phillips, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Vega Funeral Home. Mr. Krahn was born in Amarillo and lived most of his life in Vega. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He won the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the American Legion and Vega United Methodist Church. He married Billye Smith in 1976 at Las Vegas. Survivors include his wife; a son, Joel Krahn of Vega; a daughter, Sharon Cuppes of Sabinal; his parents, Don and Ann Krahn of Vega; a brother, Doug Krahn; and two grandchildren. Charlie William Murphy PLAINVIEW - Charlie William "Dub" Murphy, 87, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Ninth and Columbia Street Church of Christ with Mike Prather and Charles Broadhurst, retired Baptist minister of Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Lockney Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Murphy was born in Ellen on the Callihan Ranch. He grew up in Irike Community and attended schools there. He graduated from Lockney High School. He served in the Navy from 1942 until 1945 in the South Pacific and was present when the flag was raised at Iwo Jima. After his discharge from the Navy, Mr. Murphy lived in Amarillo and Odessa. He moved to Plainview in 1953. He farmed and did custom harvesting until his retirement in 1973. He was a member of the Ninth and Columbia Street Church of Christ. He married Fay V. Shannon in 1941 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Larry Murphy and Charlie William "Bill" Murphy III, both of Amarillo, and Denzel Murphy of Amarillo; two sisters, Ruth Lackey of Lubbock and Donna Nell Broadhurst of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren. The family will receive visitors from 4 until 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. Bob Duncan OLTON - Bob Duncan, 82, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Olton Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Wilcox, pastor of First Baptist Church in Abernathy, and the Rev. Kyle Streun, pastor of First Baptist Church in Olton, officiating. Arrangements are by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home. Mr. Duncan was born in Henderson. He graduated from Henderson High School in 1937. He received his degree in physical education from Texas Tech University in 1942. In 1953, he was employed by Boulter's Five and Dime. He owned Duncan Five and Dime from 1955 until 1989. He lived in Olton from 1953 until 1994 when he moved to Lubbock. He served on the Olton Recreation Association board of directors and was a member of Olton Lions Club and First Baptist Church in Olton. He married Felicia Boulter in 1943 at Ft. Benning, Ga. She died in 1993. Survivors include a son, Robert Duncan of Lubbock; two daughters, Jane Ann Benton of Georgetown and Lisa Trout of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Lucille Ortega CANADIAN - Lucille Ortega, 77, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors Chapel with David Young of Canadian officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Ortega was born in Georgia. She married Gregerio Ortega in 1952 at San Antonio. He died in 1977. She moved to Canadian in 1956. She was a homemaker and a home health-care provider. She worked for Hemphill County Hospital and Abraham Memorial Home. Survivors include five sons, Billy Joe Waldrop of Kerrville, Jessie F. Waldrop of Woodward, Okla., Gregory Ortega of Rosharon, Johnny Ortega of Mississippi and Lewis Ortega of Canadian; three daughters, Betty Jo Phillips of Temple, Frances Lucas of Enid, Okla., and Blanca Ramirez of Wheeler; two brothers, Harrison James Grantham and Freddie Grantham, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Jean and Judy; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Joe McKnight PLAINVIEW - Joe McKnight, 53, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Parklawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Tommy Ewing, pastor of Pleasant Valley Methodist Church in Amarillo, officiating. Arrangements are by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. McKnight was born and raised in Memphis. He attended schools in Lakeview and Stinnett and graduated from Olton High School. He attended Howard Payne University for four years. He moved to Plainview and worked for Lilly Cooling Towers for 20 years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Survivors include his mother, Murel McKnight of Plainview. The family requests memorials be to the Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association. Lena A. McNally MEMPHIS - Lena A. McNally, 73, died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Christian Church with the Rev. Tom Posey, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Spicer Funeral Home. Mrs. McNally was born in Childress County. She graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in home economics. She was a home economist for the county extension service for several years. She also taught in the public schools for many years. She was a member of First Christian Church of Memphis, the New Neighbors Club of Amarillo and several local bridge clubs. She married M.E. McNally in 1947 at Memphis. He died in 1997. Survivors include a daughter, Janet Brooks of Lake Tanglewood; a son, Alan McNally of Lubbock; and two grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. daily. A private viewing for the family will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today. The family requests memorials be to First Christian Church.
