Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Moore was born in Ardmore, Okla., and was a longtime resident of San Diego. She was a Catholic. Survivors include a son, Don A. Miller Sr. of Amarillo; a sister, Mary Walter of Amarillo; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. William Lingenfelter William "Bill" Lingenfelter, 57, of Amarillo, died Sunday, July 19, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Schooler Funeral Home Inc., Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. Sherman Eastland, chaplain of Northwest Texas Hospital, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Lingenfelter was born in Johnstown, Pa. He moved to Amarillo in 1994 from Garden City, Kan. He recently retired as supervisor for Swift/Iowa Beef Processors. Mr. Lingenfelter has been employed by Swift Independent Packing in Clovis, N.M., for 17 years, in Hereford for two years and in Guymon, Okla., for two years. In Garden City, he was employed by IBP for seven years. He moved to Amarillo and retired after four years of service. He married Barbara Miller in 1962 at Johnstown. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Debra Hetzler and Terri Castillo, both of Amarillo; a brother, David Lingenfelter of Johnstown; two sisters, Peggy Brant and Dorothy Baronie, both of Johnstown; and four grandchildren. Evelyn M. Doughten Burge Evelyn M. Doughten Burge, 72, of Amarillo, died Sunday, July 19, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home, Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Jeff Asher of Dumas Drive Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Burge was born in Eldorado, Okla. She moved to Amarillo in 1954 from Borger. She was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of Northridge Church of Christ. She married James Leon Burge in 1945 at Quanah. Survivors include three sons, James Burge, Jack Burge and Tim Burge, all of Amarillo; two sisters, Edith Gober of Altus, Okla., and Elva Gober of Fort Worth; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He married Lucy Olguin in 1965. Oklahoma Doris Mae Smothermon HOOKER, Okla. - Doris Mae Smothermon, 64, died Friday, July 17, 1998. Services were at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the First Christian Church with the Rev. Irvin Stanke officiating. Burial was in the Hooker Cemetery by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Smothermon was born in Courtney and was raised in the Winsboro, Texas, area. She was the owner and operator of Doris' Curios at Hooker and also worked at the 54 Diner and Al's Superburger. She helped her daughter-inlaw at Sue's Daylight Donut. She was a member of the First Christian Church where she served as a deaconess as well as a member of the CWF. Survivors include her husband, Roy Lee; a son, Roy Henry Smothermon of Hooker; a daughter, Patricia Houpt of Fairplay, Colo.; four brothers, Kenneth Spence of Quitman, Texas, Marvin Spence of Fairview, Okla., Bill Spence of Guymon and Robert Spence of Elk City; three sisters, Faye Burkett of Clovis, N.M., Nelda Brines of Guymon and Loyce Gonzalles of Omaha, Neb.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Frances Burns Forbes TULSA, Okla. - Frances Burns Forbes, 89, died Sunday, July 19, 1998. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Burial will be in the family plot at Okmulgee. Arrangements are by Moore's Funeral Home of Tulsa. Mrs. Forbes was born and raised in Okmulgee. In her early teens, she auditioned for Madam Schuman-Heink. As a result, she was one of three singers chosen in the United States for further study in Wagnerian roles at Bayreuth, Germany, home of the Wagnerian Festival. She studied both drama and music with the Wagnerian Opera. She studied in St. Paul, Minn., with Lewis Shaw and Guy Durrell, both Shakespearean actors, prior to going to Germany. In Germany she was coached by both Schuman-Heink and Siegfried Wagner. Additional preparation included study in New York with Eleanor McCllelan at the Dal Croize Institute. After several years in Germany, her career in opera closed and she returned to Oklahoma. She became a teacher of both music and drama in the early 1930s at Monte Casino at Tulsa. Her husband, John J. Forbes, died in in 1944. During World War II, the Glennan Hospital in Okmulgee was converted to a German prisoner of war hospital, and she was employed as an interpreter for the government. In the early 1950s, she moved to Amarillo to teach in the public school system, later becoming a principal until her retirement. She was a member of the Amarillo Little Theater, the American Association of University Women, Texas Retired Teachers Association and St. Bernard's Catholic Church at Tulsa. She moved to Tulsa in 1994. She also was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Burns Forbes in 1981. Survivors include a daughter, Terri Banasik of Tulsa; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Charles Guy Stewart BALKO, Okla. - Charles Guy Stewart, 79, died Sunday, July 19, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Full Gospel Church in Perryton, Texas, with the Rev. Mike Waterbury officiating. Burial will be in Gray Cemetery in Gray by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker. Mr. Stewart was born in Gray and attended Union Country School and Beaver schools. He graduated from Perryton High School in 1937 then attended Dodge City Junior College and Oklahoma Panhandle State University. During World War II, he was employed by the Beech Aircraft Corporation in Liberal, Kan. Mr. Stewart operated a Conoco Service Station in Liberal for a period of time. He lived in Perryton from 1949 until 1951 when he purchased a farm near Gray. He married Dorothy Presnall in 1943 at Beaver. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Max Stewart of Balko and Lyndon Stewart of Perryton; two daughters, Connie Carpenter of Goodwell and Leslie Raney of Woodward; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Cancer Treatment Center of Tulsa or to the scholarship fund of Oklahoma Panhandle State University. Burial will be in the Garden of Serenity in Westlawn Memorial Park by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Jones was born in Bryan County, Okla. He served with the Marines from 1952 until 1955 and moved to Borger in 1958 from Camp Pendleton, Calif. He moved from Borger in 1984 and returned in 1990. In 1991, Mr. Jones retired as a supervisor from Phillips Petroleum Co. He was a member of Gateway Baptist Church. He married Nell Black in 1954 at Durant, Okla.
