Murphy Robert J. Murphy, 69, died Wednesday, May 20, 1998. No services are planned. Arrangements were by Schooler Funeral Home Inc., 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Murphy was born in Manchester, Conn. He had lived in Amarillo for the past 19 years. He was a plant manager for Crouse Hinds for 23 years. He married Ann Kritzmacher in 1948 at Windsor Locks, Conn. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Deirdre Ann Bora of Troy, Mich.; two sons, David Murphy and Brian Murphy, both of Clinton, Wis.; two sisters, Ellen Morse of Manchester and Barbara Brewster of Ossining, N.Y.; a brother, James Murphy of Bedford, Mass.; and four grandchildren. Ruth Virginia Dickens Clanton Ruth Virginia Dickens Clanton, 89, formerly of Amarillo, died Tuesday, May 19, 1998, in Dallas. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Wayne Hicks of Valleyview Church of the Nazarene officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Clanton was born in Hanna, Okla. She moved to Amarillo in 1925 from Eufaula, Okla. She was a homemaker and a member of Valleyview Church of the Nazarene. She was a former member of San Jacinto Church of the Nazarene. She married Harvey E. Clanton in 1925 at Eufaula. He died in 1965. Survivors include a son, Harvey R. Clanton of Marshall; three daughters, Jeneva Clanton Jones of Dry Prong, La., Billie Clanton Sanders of Oklahoma City and Mary June Clanton of Dallas; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be at the funeral home today from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Katy Ester Hall Katy Ester Hall, 95, a former Amarillo resident, died Sunday, May 17, 1998, in Canon City, Colo. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon with the Rev. Mervin Hall, Earl Hammer and Doyle Hall officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Hall was born in Muskogee, Okla. She lived in Stratford for many years and in Amarillo for four years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl H. Hall, in 1984. Survivors include two sons, Mervin Hall of Penrose, Colo., and Doyle Hall of Las Cruces, N.M.; a daughter, Laverne Hammer of Helena, Mo.; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. Jim Beasley Jim Beasley, 64, of 555 Cliffside, died Wednesday, May 20, 1998. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Friday in Family Life Fellowship with Pastor Dale Travis officiating. Service arrangements are by the family. Cremation arrangements were by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Beasley was born in Amarillo and had been a lifetime Amarillo resident. He owned and operated Beasley Alarm Co. until 1974. He then worked as a mobile home repairman for Panhandle Mobile Homes. He raised and trained German shepherds for 30 years. He was a lifetime member of the Panhandle Kennel Club and was one of the founding members of the Amarillo German Shepherd Dog Club. Mr. Beasley married Fran Wood in 1975 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; two sons, James Brian Beasley of Nebraska and James Paul Beasley of San Diego; two daughters, Nita Sue Whitehead of Pampa and Paula Denise Neel of Amarillo; and three grandchildren. Mr. Faucett was born in Irving. He was a member of Crossroads Christian Church in Lexington. He was the director of franchise sales for Fazoli's. He had been married to Zona Marie Faucett for 13 years. Survivors include his wife; his father, Leroy Faucett of Tulsa, Okla.; his stepmother, Jean Faucett of Tulsa; a brother, Richard Lee Faucett of Amarillo; a sister, Donna Kay Faucett of Amarillo; and a stepsister, Darla Robinson of Seattle. Jack Keith Gardner Jack Keith Gardner, 72, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, May 20, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Allen Norris officiating. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Chapel, 1010 W. Ninth Ave. Mr. Gardner was a Navy veteran of World War II. There are no known survivors. Cecil M. Allred Cecil M. Allred, 90, of Amarillo, died Monday, May 18, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church. Arrangements are by BlackburnShaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Allred was born in Amarillo. He moved with his family to the Palo Duro community area, where they farmed. When he was young, he was janitor at Palo Duro Baptist Church. He then served as church treasurer and deacon. He moved to Amarillo and worked for Amarillo Oldsmobile Co. from 1937 to 1941. He then began working as a bookkeeper for American Smelting and Refining Co. at the Amarillo zinc smelter. He worked there for more than 32 years. Mr. Allred was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, a choir member and a Sunday School and Training Union teacher. He was a volunteer receptionist at High Plains Baptist Hospital for about 12 years. Mr. Allred was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Neil Allred, in 1981. He had been married to Mamie Lou Nunn, for about 15 years. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Marilyn Macoubrie of Carthage, Mo.; a son, Milton Allred of Mexico; a sister, Lottie Anderson of Hereford; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing at the funeral home. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. today. Jose Juan Pacheco Jose Juan Pacheco, 39, of Amarillo, died Saturday, May 16, 1998. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in Dunn Funeral Home Chapel in Tucumcari, N.M. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Anne's Catholic Church in Tucumcari by the Rev. John C. Daniel. Burial will be in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Pacheco was born in Tucumcari. He had been an Amarillo resident for the past 21 years. He was a group leader for alternate living at the Amarillo State Center. He also was an aerobics instructor at the Amarillo Town Club. Mr. Pacheco was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Survivors include his mother, Rosalia Pacheco of Tucumcari; five brothers, Domingo Pacheco, Raymond Pacheco and David Pacheco, all of Tucumcari, Floyd Pacheco of Albuquerque, N.M., and Willie Pacheco of Roswell, N.M.; and two sisters, Lorinda Salaz and Ruby Marquez, both of Tucumcari. The body will be available for viewing at the funeral home until service time. Area Jewel Thompson PLAINVIEW - Jewel Thompson, 89, died Monday, May 18, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Trinity United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Allen, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Thompson was born in Harpersville. She was raised in Stanford, where she attended school. She moved to Petersburg in 1925. She married Lloyd Thompson in 1935 at Petersburg. They moved to Lockney and then to Edmonson in 1940. They moved to Plainview in 1950. Mr. Thompson died in 1988. Mrs. Thompson moved to West Ridge Manor in 1996. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sisters, Ruby Case and Christine Watkins, both of Plainview; and a brother, Gene Dillard of Oklahoma City. Alma Lee Fennell BORGER - Alma Lee Fennell, 84, died Tuesday, May 19, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Fellowship Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Smith, pastor, and the Rev. Mark McGaughey of Kansas City, Mo., officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Pampa by Brown Funeral Directors. Mrs. Fennell was born in Pecan Gap and had lived in Borger for 54 years. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She married John W. Fennell in 1928 at Soper, Okla. Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Billie Reyna, Deanie O'Neal and Johnnie Malone, all of Borger, and Barbara "Bob" Francis of Amarillo; a brother, Kibby Salmon of Soper; a sister, Viola Tiffie of Honey Grove; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family will be at 1108 Indiana. Joby Sanders HART - Joby Sanders, 74, of Mission, a former longtime resident of Hart, died Tuesday, May 19, 1998, in McAllen. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Hart First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gerald Aalbers, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Hart Cemetery by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Mrs. Sanders was born in Trinidad, Colo. She moved to Mission in 1990 from Hart, where she had lived since 1929. She ran the Sanders Insurance Agency at Hart for many years. She had been a postal employee and a bookkeeper for the Ed Harris Lumber Co. for several years. Mrs. Sanders had been active in the Parent Teachers Association, Beta Sigma Phi and the Zealot Club. She served as city of Hart chairperson for the Hart Days Celebration and as a HOSTS volunteer at Mission. She married W.T. Sanders in 1942 at Lovington, N.M. He died in 1980. Survivors include two daughters, Judy Warren of Mission and Jo Thompson of Littlefield; and six grandchildren. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Adair was born in Perryton. She had lived in the Perryton area for many years, moving from Battle Mount, Nev. She married Worley Adair in 1936. He died in 1990. Mrs. Adair worked at Perry Memorial Library for eight years. She was a member of Victory Family Church. She was named Resident of the Month in December 1996 at Senior Village Nursing Home. Survivors include a son, John "J.T. " Thomas Adair of Pampa; a brother, Harvey Pletcher of Perryton; a niece, Ella Mae Wagner of Perryton; a nephew, Bill Pletcher of Perryton; two grandchildren, including John Worley Adair of Amarillo; and three great-grandchildren. Martin, 89, died Tuesday, May 19, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Flomot Cemetery at Flomot with the Rev. Nathan Mulder, pastor of Flomot Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Seigler Funeral Home of Matador. Mrs. Martin was born in Lincoln County, N.M. She moved to the Flomot community in 1918. She and her husband, Albert Martin, lived in New Mexico from 1942 to 1951, when they moved to Floydada. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1980 and by a son, Mike, in 1959. Mrs. Martin was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include nieces and nephews, including Trula Martin of Flomot, Wanda Lane of Lockney, Betty Burns of Amarillo and Claud E. Currie of Canyon. New Mexico Clyde A. Powell PORTALES, N.M. - Clyde A. Powell, 87, died Tuesday, May 19, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery. Mr. Powell was born and raised in Fort Sumner. At the age of 14, he began working on a neighboring ranch. He was self-educated and worked most of his life as a farmer and rancher. He married Reba Martin in 1935 at Clovis. They lived at House, where he ran a gas station and drove trucks, hauling produce, canned goods, cattle, etc. In 1950, he bought his own farm in the House area and continued to farm until retiring in 1985. The last several years that he had farmed, he lived in Portales. After retiring, Mr. Powell was active at the Portales Senior Citizens and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and University Baptist Church, where he also served as an usher. Survivors include his wife; a son, Clyde R. Powell of Portales; a daughter, Paula Criss of Portales; and five grandchildren. The casket will remain open until service time. The family requests memorials be to the University Baptist Church building fund at Portales. Ronald Dean Dwire CLOVIS, N.M. - Ronald Dean "Ron" Dwire, 61, died Monday, May 18, 1998. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. today in The Chapel with Chaplain Capt. Edward Vernon from Cannon Air Force Base Chapel officiating. Burial was in Santa Fe National Cemetery. Services and cremation were by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Dwire was born in Confluence, Pa. He moved to Clovis in 1968. He retired as a senior master sergeant with the Air Force. He had served in Vietnam. After retiring, he became a licensed insurance agent. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Carnine-Wiseman Post 3280 and Melrose Masonic Lodge 39 AF&AM. Survivors include his wife, Billye; a son, Steven Dwire of Clovis; a daughter, Rhonda Dwire of Dallas; two brothers, Robert Dwire and Donald Dwire, both of Pennsylvania; and two sisters, Nancy Conn and Faye Jean Fike, both of Pennsylvania. Elsewhere Opal Faye Armstrong KRESS - Opal Faye Armstrong, 70, died Tuesday, May 19, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Kress First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeffrey Lee, pastor, and the Rev. Ron Kelly, pastor of Kress First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Mrs. Armstrong was born in Mineral Wells. She was raised in Snyder and graduated from Snyder High School in 1946. She married James Donald Armstrong in 1946 at Snyder. In 1950, she moved from Snyder to Kress, where she farmed with her husband. She was a member of the Swisher County Senior Citizens, the Crochet Club and the Study Club. She was named the Swisher County Senior Citizen of the Year in 1989. Mrs. Armstrong was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986. Survivors include a daughter, Donna Brandt of Amarillo; two sons, Tommy Armstrong of Dumas and Billy Armstrong of Lubbock; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Oklahoma Stanley Glenn Harper BOISE CITY, Okla. - Stanley Glenn Harper, 82, died Wednesday, May 20, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Independence Cemetery at Vinson. Arrangements are by Cimarron Mortuary. Mr. Harper was born in Harmon County. He attended school at Carl and Altus, where he graduated from high school. In 1937, he moved to California and worked in the orchards and in the trucking business. He moved back to Oklahoma in 1941 and worked as a drilling superintendent for Haliburton and Jackson and Jackson Drilling Co. Mr. Harper moved to Boise City in 1969. He worked at the 66 Truck Stop and then at the high school until retiring. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Duncan. Mr. Harper was preceded in death by a son, Larry Harper. Survivors include a son, Dale Harper of Boise City; a brother, Dave Harper of Boise City; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-greatgrandson.
