Covington Sidney "Sid" C. Covington, 83, of Amarillo, died Monday, Oct. 19, 1998. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today in Llano Cemetery Mausoleum with the Rev. George Quarterman, retired bishop of the Diocese of Northwest Texas, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Covington was born in Cheyenne, Wyo. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, where he was a lieutenant colonel. He was a professional engineer in the oil and gas business, and was still active at the time of his death. He also was active at the Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Center and the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum at Canyon. He was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. His wife, Carolyn Callaway, died in 1990. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. James Farren of Amarillo and Mrs. Eugene McCartt of Santa Monica, Calif.; a son, Sidney C. Covington Jr. of Austin; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family will be at 2617 Mockingbird. She was a homemaker and member of West Amarillo Christian Church. She married Dale Turner in 1948 at Amarillo. He preceded her in death in August. Miss Hall was born in Wetmore, Kan., and had lived in Amarillo since 1945. She graduated from high school at Concordia, Kan. After graduating from Tulsa School of Business, she became secretary to the manager of El Tovar Hotel in Grand Canyon, Ariz., for several years. In Amarillo, Miss Hall was a teller for First National Bank of Amarillo until her retirement in 1970. She was a member of St. Luke Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her sister, Marian Owen of Amarillo; and two brothers, Ralph Hall and Vance Hall, both of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be to St. Luke Presbyterian Building Fund. Canyon Othella Fern Adcock Othella Fern Adcock, 69, of Fort Smith, Ark., died Sunday, Oct. 18, 1998. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mrs. Adcock was born in Mangum, Okla. After her graduation from Clovis High School, she moved to Canyon. She later moved to Amarillo then to Fort Smith in 1971. She married William A. Adcock at Canyon. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Deborah A. Egner of Atlanta; a son, Doug Adcock of Canyon; her mother, Jewell Pruitt of Canyon; and four grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to American Heart Association or Alzheimer's Association Panhandle Chapter. New Mexico Paul T. Wilson CLOVIS, N.M. - Paul T. Wilson, 81, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Parkland Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Texico Cemetery at Texico by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mr. Wilson was born in Brazil, Ind., and lived in Harmony, Ind., through high school. He worked for New York Railroad until he was drafted into the Army and was transferred to Camp Reed at Clovis in 1942. He was stationed in India until his discharge. Mr. Wilson was a member of Parkland Baptist Church. He was a Mason, a lifetime member of Knightsville Lodge No. 409 AF&AM and of the Good Sam's Club. Survivors include his wife, Opal; and two stepsons, David Honea of Plano, Texas, and Aaron Honea of Hilo, Hawaii. The family requests memorials be to Baptist Children's Home at Portales. Oklahoma Viola Dickerson GUYMON, Okla. - Viola Dickerson, 82, a former Guymon resident, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 1998, in Pueblo, Colo. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Church of Christ with Gerald Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors. Mrs. Dickerson was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, and moved with her family to Guymon in 1953. She moved to Pueblo in 1994. She had been an elementary school teacher in Guymon schools for more than 20 years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Dickerson, in 1961. Survivors include a daughter, Judy Kersey of Colorado City, Colo.; a son, Richard Warren Dickerson of Pueblo; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Elsewhere Dearo N. She graduated from Garland High School in Garland, Texas. She had owned and operated a cafe in Tulia for 11 years and moved to Liberal in 1987. She was a member of the Jackson Chapel Church of God in Christ. Her husband, Willie, died in 1968. She also was preceded in death by three sons. Survivors include three sons, Tommy Lee White, Aldie White and Ricky White, all of Tulia; three daughters, Mae Etta Lewis of Amarillo, Patsy Tatum of Liberal and Rita Jennings of Floydada, Texas; 47 grandchildren; 95 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Amherst by Hammons Funeral Home. Mrs. Wood was born in Coryell County. In 1941, she moved to Lamb County. She lived in Circle Back and Amherst before moving to Littlefield in 1991. She was a Baptist. She married Virgil Wood in 1938 at Coryell County. Arrangements are by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mr. Anderson was born in Waverly, Iowa, and moved to Panhandle 12 years ago from Waterloo, Ohio. He was employed as a refinery worker for a meat packing plant. Frank D. Gillentine DUMAS - Frank D. Gillentine, 95, of Slater, Mo., died Monday, Oct. 19, 1998. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Northlawn Memorial Gardens in Dumas with the Rev. Denzel Webb officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Gillentine was born in Erath County and was a Dumas resident before moving to Slater in 1975. In 1966, he retired from the Phillips 66 Fertilizer Plant in Cactus. In Dumas, he also had been in the jewelry, watch and clock repair business for more than 50 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Slater. He married Eupha Armentrout in 1926. She preceded him in death in 1988. Survivors include a son, A.A. Gillentine of Dumas; a daughter, Eupha Dell Webb of Slater; a half-brother, J.S. Underwood of Whitney; three half-sisters, Meece Kirton, Mhodree Higginbotham and Elizabeth Taylor, all of Whitney; six grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren. Opal Oliver Peatling DUMAS - Opal Oliver Peatling, 89, of Loveland, Ohio, and a longtime Dumas resident, died Sunday, Oct. 18, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in First Presbyterian Church of Dumas with Dr. Vince Kolb, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Peatling was born in Beckham County, Okla., and was a Dumas resident for 45 years. She moved to Ohio five years ago. She was a homemaker and charter member of First Presbyterian Church. Since 1951, she was a member of the Dumas Chapter No. 653 Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph Werner Oliver, in 1964 and by her second husband, Earl Peatling, in 1979. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Joan K. Oliver, in 1993. Dale Guidry, pastor of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, officiating. Mr. Marquez was born in Clayton, N.M., and was raised on a ranch between Clayton and Des Moines, N.M. He was a veteran of World War II who moved to Dalhart in 1968. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Clayton. Survivors include his wife, Frankie Marquez; four daughters, Lydia "Patsy" Villasenor of Dalhart, Irene Gonzalez of Clayton, Frances Ramos of El Paso and Maria Marquez of Amarillo; a son, Ronnie L.
