Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Llano Cemetery with Dr. Howard Batson of First Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Ackerman was born in Oklahoma. She moved to Amarillo in 1900 in a covered wagon. She was a secretary at an insurance company. She was a charter member of First Baptist Church and a former member of the High Plains Baptist Auxiliary. Her husband, Charles Crawford Ackerman, died in 1969. Survivors include a nephew, Harold Vaughn of Albuquerque, N.M.; and two nieces, Marie Vaughn of Amarillo and Juanita Garrett of San Antonio. James M. Horn James M. "Jim" Horn, 83, of 507 W. 45th Ave., died Monday, April 20, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Rector Funeral Home Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St., with Donna Johnston, chaplain at Northwest Texas Healthcare System, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Military rites will be by Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 26. Mr. Horn was born in Aurora, Kan. He moved to Amarillo in 1972 from Pampa. He was a security policeman in the Army. He was a working cowboy on the Goodnight Ranch, the LS Ranch and the Bob Price Ranch. He also worked as a truck driver for Groendyke and Cutrell for 10 years before retiring in 1977. Mr. Horn married Willa L. "Chic" Nelson in 1954 at Tucumcari, N.M. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jerrie Christie of Amarillo and Judy Mader of Tucson, Ariz.; a son, James E. Horn of Washington, D.C.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. King, 43, of Amarillo, died Monday, April 20, 1998. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Canyon with the Rev. Wayne Pafk, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery in Vega. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. King was born in Samnorwood and lived in Bledsoe for 10 years. He graduated as salutatorian from Vega High School. He graduated from McMurry University, where he was involved with Chantors and toured the United States and Europe. He then graduated from Asbury Seminary and was a Methodist minister in Texline. He attended West Texas A&M University and was a part-time instructor. He taught in Clayton, N.M., for a year and in Lakeview for two years. At the time of his death, Mr. King was a substitute teacher for the Amarillo Independent School District. He was a church organist at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Canyon. Mr. King married Sarah Coonrod in 1992 at Canyon. Survivors include his wife; a son, Matthew King of the home; a brother, Clark King of College Station; two sisters, Lynna Wright of Frisco and Karen Witt of Amarillo; and his mother, Mayme King Roberson of Vega. He was a chief programmer analyst for Southwestern Public Service Co. before retiring after more than 40 years of service. He was a member of Grace Community Church. Amarillo Blvd. Dana Jean Zimmerman Dana Jean Zimmerman, 31, of Dallas, formerly of Amarillo, died Sunday, April 19, 1998. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Brooks Funeral Directors Chapel in Canyon with Dr. Gil Lain, senior pastor of Paramount Baptist Church of Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon. Ms. Zimmerman was born in Hereford and graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1985. She received her bachelor of arts degree in economics from the University of North Carolina at Asheville. She then earned her juris doctorate from Mercer University School of Law in Macon, Ga. After law school, Ms. Zimmerman passed both the Georgia and Texas state bar exams. She specialized in Social Security law. She practiced law in Amarillo before moving in 1995 to Dallas, where she established her own law practice and was a member of the Dallas Bar. Ms. Zimmerman was a member of Prestonwood Baptist Church of Dallas. Survivors include her parents, Dr. Ronald L. and Dorothy Zimmerman of Amarillo; a sister, Zann Taylor of Asheville, N.C.; and a brother, Glenn Zimmerman of West Palm Beach, Fla. The family requests memorials be to the American Diabetes Association, 8008 Slide Road 12-A, Lubbock, Texas 79424. Dan Minier Dan Minier, 68, of Amarillo, died Monday, April 20, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in East Amarillo Church of Christ with Cecil Bunch officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Colonial Funeral Chapel, 1010 W. Ninth Ave. Mr. Minier worked for Southwestern Public Service Co. for 37 years before retiring in 1991. He worked part time for United Supermarket for 14 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 731, the Khiva Shrine, Moose Lodge No. 1361, Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 1475 and Elks Lodge No. 923, all in Amarillo. He also was a member of the Scottish Rite of Lubbock and a lifetime member of the Loyal Sock American Legion at Loyal Sock, Pa. Mr. Minier was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels of Amarillo. Private graveside services will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home Inc., 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Webber was born in Green Bay, Wis. She moved to Texas in 1939. She lived in Canyon and Plainview before moving to Amarillo. She was a former aviatrix, flying open cockpit planes. She had a limited commercial pilot license. Mrs. Webber was a homemaker. She also worked in gift shops. She was a Girl Scout director in Plainview for eight years. She had been a member of First Presbyterian Church since 1963. She married Henry Webber in 1935 at Hinsdale, Ill. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Susan Summerfield of Essex, Vt.; a son, Paul Webber of Amarillo; a brother, Paul Boisen of North Carolina; and two grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. New Mexico Kenneth A. Danklefs CLOVIS, N.M. - Kenneth A. Danklefs, 69, died Sunday, April 19, 1998. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens by SteedTodd Funeral Home. Mr. Danklefs was born in Clovis. He married Verna Louise Fisher in 1970 at Clovis. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Teddy Haggard of Las Vegas and Jayson Haggard of Irving, Texas; two daughters, Aloria Robinson of Haltom City, Texas, and Emma Crawford of Lubbock, Texas; three brothers, Harold Danklefs of Virginia, Edgar Danklefs of Lubbock and Charles Danklefs of Iowa; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Orie B. Cooper PORTALES, N.M. - Orie B. "Sis" Cooper, 85, died Monday, April 20, 1998, in Cleveland, Texas. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Steve Smith officiating. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery. Mrs. Cooper was born in Hill County, Texas, and was raised in McAdoo, Texas. She graduated as valedictorian of her high school class in McAdoo. She moved with her family to Portales in 1957. She worked in the Farm Bureau Insurance office in Portales for a number of years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was active in several bridge clubs. She attended University Baptist Church. She married Buford Cooper in 1953 at McAdoo. He died in 1988. Survivors include a son, Mike Cooper of Cold Spring, Texas; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. John Comba CLAYTON, N.M. - John Comba, 82, died Saturday, April 18, 1998. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church by the Rev. George Silva, pastor. Burial will be in Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors. Mr. Comba was born in Corona, Kan. He was raised in Raton, N.M., and was a 1930 graduate of Raton High School. He moved to San Diego in 1941 and worked for Convair Corp. for 34 years. He retired and moved to Clayton in 1980. He married Melba McGalliard in 1941 at San Diego. Mr. Comba was a veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Margaret Wray of Oceanside, Calif., and Judy Ayon of San Diego; a son, John Comba Jr. of Ramona, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Area H.W. Shepard DUMAS - H.W. "Wayland" "Shep" Shepard, 88, died Sunday, April 19, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Bible Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Clark, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Shepard was born in Anson and had lived in Dumas for 56 years. He married Bessie Burnett Capshaw in 1936 at Atoka County, Okla. They bought M&M Snack Bar in the early 1960s and operated it until the early 1980s. Mrs. Shepard preceded him in death in 1996. Mr. Shepard was a member of Bible Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Harold Lee Shepard of Napa, Calif., and Jerry Dean Shepard of Dumas; two brothers, Pascal Doyle Shepard of Poteau, Okla., and Wayne Edward Shepard of Shreveport, La.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Lorin Evan Pigg SANFORD - Lorin Evan Pigg, 67, of Bugbee Shores, died Monday, April 20, 1998. Services will be at 4 p.m. today in First Baptist Church of Sanford with the Rev. Ricky Griffin, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Sanford Cemetery by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch. Mr. Pigg was born in El Reno, Okla., and had been a Bugbee Shores resident since 1962. He served with the Army National Guard during the Korean War. He was a carpenter and a member of First Baptist Church, where he was chairman of the deacons. Mr. Pigg married Sue Capps in 1962 at Pampa. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Guy Wayne Pigg of Sanford and Kurt "Woody" Howell of Amarillo; four daughters, Faye "Sissie" Palmeter of Bugbee Shores, Gay Rhenea Dawkins of Amarillo, Deanna Lynn Walton of White Deer and Kay Rachell Pool of Panhandle; a brother, Nelvin Guy Nelson of Sacramento, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Everett Patterson EARTH - Everett Patterson, 91, a former Earth resident, died Monday, April 20, 1998, in Odessa. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Earth Memorial Cemetery with Wiburn Dennis of the Church of Christ in Littlefield officiating. Arrangements are by Parsons-Ellis Funeral Home. Mr. Patterson was born in Harrold. He lived in Earth from 1946 until moving to Odessa in 1990. He was a member of the Earth Church of Christ. He owned and operated Patterson Brothers Grocery Store in Earth from 1946 to 1967. He married Matt Kisinger in 1938 at Roswell, N.M. She died in 1990. Survivors include a son, John Patterson of Odessa; a brother, Hershel Patterson of Earth; and two grandchildren. Helen M. Snyder CANADIAN - Helen M. Snyder, 90, formerly of Canadian, died Friday, April 17, 1998, in South Bend, Ind. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Bradley K. Walker officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors. Miss Snyder was born in Cleveland. She received her bachelor of arts degree from Park College in Parkville, Mo., in 1929. She received a bachelor of science degree from the school of library science at Columbia University in 1930. She was employed by Stephen F. Austin University from 1931 to 1946. She served in Japan with the U.S. Army as a librarian from 1946 to 1948. She moved from Canadian to South Bend in 1948. She was a librarian with the South Bend Public Library before retiring in 1973. Miss Snyder was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Women, the Daughters of the American Revolution, Chapter X of the PEO and the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She also was a member of the South Bend Symphony Orchestra League and the Women's Auxiliary of the Hearing and Speech Center of St. Joseph County. Survivors include two sisters, Dr. Marjorie Reuthe of South Bend and Dr. Ruth Sherman of Roxbury, Conn.; and a brother, Dr. Rush Snyder of Canadian. The body will be available for viewing at the funeral home today from 2 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Erma Ludden Wood CANADIAN - Erma Ludden Wood, 83, died Monday, April 20, 1998. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery with Dr. Lewis Holland, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors. Mrs. Wood was born in Hemphill County and had been a lifelong resident of Hemphill County. She graduated from Canadian High School and later attended a clerical school in Enid, Okla. She was a teller at First National Bank. She and her husband owned and operated Paul Wood Upholstery and Drapes. Mrs. Wood was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Sagebrush Painters Arts and Crafts Club. She married Paul Wood in 1941 at Kentucky. He died in 1990. Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Wood Daniel of Amarillo; two brothers, Melvin Ludden of Fritch and Virgil Ludden of Oklahoma City; and two grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing at the funeral home today from noon until 8 p.m., Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Jake Renshaw DALHART - Jake Renshaw, 94, died Tuesday, April 21, 1998. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Jimmye Cole, pastor of Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Home. Mr. Renshaw was born in Missouri. He married Sara Dorothy Fern Scobel in 1929. They moved to Dalhart in 1941. Mrs. Renshaw died in 1986. Mr. Renshaw was a blacksmith and welder. He was a member of First Assembly of God. Survivors include two sons, John Renshaw of Amarillo and Tom Renshaw of Dalhart; 12 grandchildren; several greatgrandchildren; and three great-greatgrandchildren. Arno Cox PLAINVIEW - Arno Cox, 80, died Tuesday, April 21, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church in Hart with Dr. Max Browning, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Plainview, officiating. Burial will be in Hart Cemetery in Hart by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Cox was born in Jenkins, N.M. He grew up in Hart and attended school there. He moved to California in 1941 and helped build the Shasta Dam. He moved to Amarillo and worked at Pantex. He moved to Hobbs, N.M., in 1947 and worked in the oil fields. He was partner and vice president of Clarke Oil Servicing. He was a member of Ambucs. Mr. Cox married Irene Jackson in 1939 at Clovis, N.M. She died in 1993. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Bowden of Plainview; two sisters, Demmie McLain of Manteca, Calif., and Francis Hieght of Broadview, N.M.; two granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Lane Memorial Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Vasquez was born in Anthony and had been a Sunray resident since 1954. He was a farmer and a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Anita Saenz Vasquez; two sons, Alex Vasquez of Orlando, Fla., and Joe Vasquez of Albuquerque, N.M.; three daughters, Gloria Catano of Dumas, Glenda Ruiz of Fort Worth and Sylvia Gomez of Albuquerque; four stepsons, Gus Saenz of Stephenville, Ala., Joe Saenz of Atlanta, Lucas Saenz of Wichita, Kan., and Steve Saenz of Dumas; four stepdaughters, Alice Saenz of Pharr, Grace Rios of Dumas, Silvia Rangel of Stratford and Mary Lou Galaviz of Sunray; a brother, Juan Vasquez of California; 30 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
