She was a member of the Texas A&M Mothers Club and a member and treasurer of the West Amarillo Garden Club. She married Frank Wardle in 1921 at Vernon. He died in 1979. She also was preceded in death by a son, Rowland Wardle, in 1984. She and her husband owned a hatchery until the 1950s. She had been a resident of Amarillo since 1947. Mrs. Mileur was a charter member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and active in Little Flower Mission Guild. She served as a Pink Lady at St. Anthony's Hospital until the early 1990s. She married Urban H. Mileur in 1925 at Duncan, Okla. He died in 1970. Survivors include a daughter, Marily Krahn of Lubbock; a son, Max E. She was later a member of First Baptist Church in Canyon. She was a volunteer for Girl Scouts and Meals on Wheels. She married Hugh Shotwell in 1925 at Canyon. Oklahoma Geoffrey Scott Underwood GOODWELL, Okla. - Geoffrey Scott Underwood, 20, a former Goodwell resident, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 1998, in Houston, Texas. A private memorial service was in Port Aransas, Texas. Arrangements were by Santana Funeral Home of Houston. Mr. Underwood attended public school in Goodwell and also attended Oklahoma Panhandle State University. He was a senior speech major at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, where he was an active member of the forensics team and a member of Alpha Psi Omega honorary and Cardinal Key. He was a member of United Methodist Church. Mr. Underwood had maintained a lifetime involvement in the Boy Scouts of America. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 1991 through Guymon Troop No. 163 and completed his Eagle Palms the following year. In 1993, he earned the National Hornaday Conservation Award for activities completed through Troop No. 163. He was an active researcher and writer. He authored or co-authored 10 scholarly papers for presentation at student and professional conventions. Last year, a national journal for tropical fish enthusiasts published his research report. His poetry appears in more than 20 student and commercial anthologies. Mr. Nelson was born in Mount Calm and attended public schools there. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Abilene Christian College in 1927. In 1936, he received his master of arts degree from the University of Texas. He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa. He had completed all but his dissertation on his doctorate when he enlisted in the Army Air Corps as an officer. Mr. Nelson was a rated bombardier. He was a ground school instructor and later director of Midland Army Air Force Base. He was given a regular Army commission and sent to the Military Academy at West Point to teach navigational mathematics and bombardier tactics at Stewart Field. After the war, Mr. Nelson returned to Midland where he was employed in the real estate and insurance business. He served as president of the Midland Downtown Lions Club, Midland Board of Realtors, Midland Association of Insurance Agents, Midland Knife and Fork Club and Chapter 141 Society of Real Estate Appraisers. He was a charter member and life member of the Midland Board of Realtors and was Realtor of the Year in 1972. Mr. Nelson was a member of the Church of Christ and served as an elder for more than 30 years. He taught Bible study classes for 47 years, was a founder of Midland Christian Schools and served on the first board of directors. He married Ruby Lee Gentry in 1931 at Cleburne. She died in 1990. Survivors include three daughters, JoAnn Fleming of Amarillo, Carolyn Johnson of Richardson and Kathy Jordon of Irving; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She returned to Cimarron in 1943 and graduated from Cimarron High School in 1948. She married Wilbur Holden in 1948. They moved to Hastings, Neb., in 1966 and to Dalhart in 1991. Mr. Holden preceded her in death. Mrs. Holden was a member of the national singing group "Sweet Adelines." She was an Avon representative for more than 20 years. She was a lifetime member of Beta Sigma Phi and a member of Lakeview United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Parkside Chapel of Hereford. Mr. McMillan was born in Pittsburg, Kan. He graduated from Joplin High School in 1930 and the University of Missouri at Columbia in 1936. He was a veteran of World War II as a staff member of the Naval training school at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y. He also served on the battleship North Carolina in the Pacific campaign. Mr. McMillan had been employed by Spencer Chemical Co. as a chemical engineer for 21 years until 1963. At that time, he was one of the founders of Western Ammonia in Dimmitt. He was a former member of the Lions Club, Rotary Club, Elks Club, and the American Legion. He married Mary Katherine Fenimore in 1936. She died in 1988. Survivors include four daughters, Judy Anderson of Davenport, Iowa, Roxanna Hill and Martha Davis, both of Houston, and Kathy Allison of Hereford; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Wes McElreath BORGER - Wes McElreath, 20, died Friday, Feb. 20, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Andrew United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Purl, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors. Mr. McElreath was born and raised in Borger. He was a 1996 graduate of Borger High School and was in his second year at Frank Phillips College. He was employed by Concete Livestock Products. She was a 31-year member of Church of God of the Firstborn. She married Frank Jimenez in 1937. He died in 1986. She was preceded in death by five grandchildren and a greatgrandchild. She was employed as a dishwasher and was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Muleshoe. She married Oren Thomas Howard in 1926 at Olney. He died in 1985. Everett States GRUVER - Everett "Lee" States, 57, of Naples, Italy, and a former Gruver resident, died Thursday, Feb. 19, 1998 in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Primitive Baptist Church of Perryton with R.A. Tindale, elder, and Don Martin, elder, officiating. Burial will be in Gruver Cemetery by Miller Mortuary of Liberal, Kan. Mr. States was born in Higgins and raised in Gruver. He graduated from Gruver High School in 1959 and Northwestern Oklahoma State University. He also attended Ball State University in Ohio. He received a master's degree in psychology and counseling. Mr. States taught high school in Dibble, Okla., and Port Arthur and was allsports coach. For 23 years, he taught Industrial Arts at the American High School and extension classes for Portland State University in Kaiserslautern, Germany. In 1995, he moved to Naples where he was a counselor at Naples Elementary School for the Department of Defense schools. Mr. Nelson was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha, Overseas Educators Association, Overseas Federation of Teachers, and the Kaiserslautern Kar Klub, which he organized. He married Julie M. Rauch in 1977 at Metairie, La. He had married Janey C. Brehmer in 1961 at Perryton and Sheryl L. Hinderliter in 1969 at Wynoka, Okla. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Lee States of Engelside and Jason States of Oklahoma City; two daughters, Christina Bryant of Ansley, Neb., and Teresa Corte of Alva, Okla.; his father and stepmother, Marvin and Vyneta States of Amarillo; a sister, Anita Albright of Balko, Okla.; and nine grandchildren. Ray Gabehart DIMMITT - Ray Gabehart, 87, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church of Olton with the Rev. Norman Patton, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Olton Cemetery by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Homes. Mr. Gabehart was born in Lindsey, Okla. He moved to Olton from Binger, Okla., in 1953. He farmed in Oklahoma from 1932 until 1955, then in Olton until his retirement in 1975. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Olton. He married Louise Leggitt in 1969 at Olton, Okla. In 1932, he married Opal Smith, who died in 1968. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jeanie Lopez of Olton; three sons, Kenneth Gabehart of Amarillo, Troy Gabehart of Dumas and Preston Leggitt of New Braunfels; two sisters, Helen Reed of Kerrville and Mable O'Bryant of Anadarko, Okla.; 16 grandchildren; 21 greatgrandchildren; and three great-greatgrandchildren. Margarito Almeda PLAINVIEW - Margarito Almeda, 46, died Friday, Feb. 20, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Ben Kasteel officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Almeda was born and raised in Durango, Mexico. He moved to Fort Worth in 1978 then to Plainview in 1980. He was employed by Excel and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He married Chris Garcia in 1984 at Plainview. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Oscar Almeda, Andres Almeda and Margarito Almeda Jr., all of Plainview; four brothers, Antonio Almeda and Cataria Almeda, both of Fort Worth, and Maximo Almeda and Miguel Almeda, both of Mexico; three sisters, Choria Ramirez, Cristina Vargas and Reminga Jemenes, all of Mexico; and his father, Megal Almeda of Mexico.
