Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. today in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. William D. Nix Jr., rector at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, officiating. Private burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Boston was born in Crosbyton. She attended the University of Oklahoma and Texas Tech University. She had been involved with many civic and community organizations. She was a past president of Paramount Terrace PTA and of the Panhandle Homebuilders Ladies Auxiliary. She was a past board member of St. Anthony's Hospital Auxiliary and Texas State Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Boston was a longtime member of the Junior League of Amarillo, the Amarillo Country Club and St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. She married J.D. "Dan" Boston in 1951. He died in 1994. Survivors include two sons, Richard D. Boston and James D. Boston, both of Dallas; and three grandchildren. The family will be at 5002 Yale. They request memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center or St. Andrew's Episcopal Church. Flora E. Glover Flora E. Glover, 91, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, May 19, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with the Rev. Frank Peery, a retired United Methodist minister, officiating. Arrangements are by BlackburnShaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Glover was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She was a cashier at the Dixie Shop, Mangels and Klines. Her husband, Edward A. Glover, died in 1981. Survivors include a son, Bill Glover of Amarillo; two brothers, Bob McKamie of Waco and Ed McKamie of Dallas; three sisters, Lenora Meador of Belton, Wilma Martin of Troy and Eloise Holder of Waco; and three grandsons. Long Bill W. Long, 60, of Amarillo, died Thursday, May 21, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road, with Pastor Travis F. Starnes of Northside United Pentecostal Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Long was born in Amarillo and had been a lifelong Amarillo resident. He was a retired concrete worker. He had been a member of the National Guard. He married his wife, Darrelie, in 1974 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Judy Palmer, Karen Dennis, Mary Mrosko and Crystal Green, all of Amarillo; two sons, Steve Long and Danny Long, both of Amarillo; his mother, Jeanette Long of Amarillo; two sisters, Christine Smart and Geraldine Clark, both of Amarillo; two brothers, Joe Long of Amarillo and Fred Long of Dallas; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will be at 5215 Amarillo St. Oklahoma Petra Roots GUYMON, Okla. - Petra "Pat" Roots, 57, died Thursday, May 21, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Sunset Lane Baptist Church with the Rev. Donnie Lane, pastor of San Jacinto Community Church in Amarillo, and the Rev. Lloyd Riddles, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by HensonNovak Funeral Directors. Mrs. Roots was born in Trinidad, Colo. She was raised in Trinidad and later moved to Las Vegas. She married James D. Roots in 1964 at Las Vegas. They moved to Texhoma and later made their home in Guymon. Mr. Roots died in 1993. She also was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Victor Roots, in 1977. Mrs. Roots was an associate for WalMart, where she worked in the snack bar. She was a member of Sunset Lane Baptist Church. Survivors include two sons, Boynton Roots of Seiling and Alex Maes of Pueblo, Colo.; and a granddaughter, Jolene Turtle of the home. Area Lewis Marcy PAMPA - Lewis Marcy, 86, died Tuesday, May 19, 1998. Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Thursday in Levelland Cemetery at Levelland. Eulogy was by the family. Arrangements were by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Lewis was born in Lynn County. He moved to Pampa in 1972 from Levelland, where he lived for several years. He retired in 1985 as a truck driver in the construction business. He was a member of the Spirit of Truth Ministries in Pampa. Mr. Lewis married Alva Lee Presley in 1933 at Clovis, N.M. She died in 1978. He also was preceded in death by a son, Johnnie Lee Marcy, in 1945. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Veach of Borger; three sisters, Nadine Scott and Elsie Stevens, both of Grand Junction, Colo., and Margaret "Trixie" Richardson of Wolfforth; a brother, O.E. Bill Buford BORGER - Bill Buford, 75, died Wednesday, May 20, 1998. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with Dr. David Jones, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors. Mr. Buford was born in Carbon and had lived in the Borger area for 55 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of First Methodist Church and the Borger Noon Lions Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Buford, in 1996. Survivors include a daughter, Susan Buford of Amarillo. Joyce M. Justice STINNETT - Joyce M. Justice, 60, died Wednesday, May 20, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Bill Hodges and the Rev. Kenneth Benton officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Mrs. Justice was born in Vici, Okla., and had lived in the Stinnett area for 43 years. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Borger. Survivors include her husband, Jack; three sons, James Mayberry of Borger, Larry Mayberry of Vicksburg, Miss., and Mike Justice of Fritch; three daughters, Linda Jones and Teresa McCollum, both of Borger, and Jackie Schanks of Stinnett; two brothers, Gene Mercer and Franklin Mercer, both of McAllen; a sister, Anna Mae Turner of Pampa; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Paul D. Cooper BORGER - Paul D. Cooper, 64, died Wednesday, May 20, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Church of Christ with Richard Kasko, minister, officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Love at Westlawn Memorial Park by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mr. Cooper was born in Shamrock and had been a resident of Borger since 1968. He was a plant operator for Aqrium and was a member of the Church of Christ. He married Donna Webb in 1954 at Memphis. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dale Cooper of Amarillo and Kelly Cooper of Borger; a daughter, Robin Haney of Amarillo; a brother, Bob Cooper of Borger; a sister, Juanita Whitten of Borger; and seven grandsons. Elaine Riley BORGER - Elaine Riley, 82, died Tuesday, May 19, 1998, in Tomball. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Keeler Baptist Church with the Rev. John Denton of Borger officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Love at Westlawn Memorial Park by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mrs. Riley was born in DeLeon and had lived in Borger for 40 years. She was a homemaker and a founding member of Keeler Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school, arranged flowers for the altar, visited the sick and was on the welcoming committee. She developed a history of the church for its 25th anniversary. Mrs. Riley also was a member of the Golden Grandmothers Club and Gardening Club. Her husband, Jack T. Riley, died in 1995. Survivors include two daughters, Pamela Kay Breuer of Houston and Jacqueline Dawn Strovas of Seattle; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. T.T. Allred CLARENDON - T.T. Allred, 89, died Wednesday, May 20, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Church of Christ with Mike Suiter, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors Inc. Mr. Allred was born in Vernon. He was a resident of Wellington before moving to Clarendon 53 years ago. He was a mechanic at the Chevrolet dealership in Clarendon for much of his life before retiring more than 20 years ago. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Allred married Audra Minnie Kerley in 1929 at Hollis, Okla. She died in 1980. Survivors include two daughters, Fanchon A. Melvin of Lindale and June Dorman of Granbury; three sisters, Ette Mae Claunch and Edna McAdams, both of Los Angeles, and Clara Stewart of Arizona; three brothers, Model Allred of Pennsylvania, Norman Allred of Odessa and S.F. Allred Jr. of Arizona; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Walter H. Johnston CLARENDON - Walter H. Johnston, 88, died Tuesday, May 19, 1998. Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Truman Ledbetter, pastor, and the Rev. Grady Roundtree, pastor of Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors Inc. Mr. Johnston was born in Russellville, Ala., and moved to Donley County in 1912. He had been a farmer most of his life. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Hedley American Legion Post. He was Baptist. He married Cleta Inez Bridges in 1935 at Collingsworth County. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles Kenneth Johnston, in 1967. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Pam Mason of Vega, Cleta Wilkerson of Dimmitt and Dorothy Vaught of Odessa; six sons, Billy Ray Johnston and Ernest Johnston, both of Clarendon, Redell Johnston and Gary Johnston, both of Amarillo, Dan Foster of Little Elm and Don Johnston of Artesia, N.M.; a sister, Lucille Foster of Dallas; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Verlyn Hollis DUMAS - Verlyn Hollis, 71, died Thursday, May 21, 1998. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Dumas Cemetery with the Rev. Neal Unwin of First Assembly of God Church of Plainview officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Hollis was born in Acme and had been a Dumas resident for 25 years. He was employed at the Dumas Co-op grain elevator. He was a veteran of the Army. He married Jean Jeffers in 1950 at Vernon. She died in 1996. Survivors include four sons, Ricky R. Hollis, Larry Hollis and Terry Hollis, all of Dumas, and Gary Hollis of Jacksonville, Fla.; a daughter, Rae Nita White of Tulia; a brother, Ernest Hollis of Snyder; a sister, Faeoline Norton of Memphis; eight grandchildren; and three greatgrandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Vega United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Phillips, pastor, the Rev. James Peach, pastor of First Baptist Church, and Brad Thompson, youth minister of University Church of Christ in Canyon, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Vega Funeral Home. Mr. Thompson was born in Bonita. He moved to Vega in 1945. He served as sheriff of Oldham County and the chief of police for the city of Vega. He was a founding member of the United Peace Officers Association, which has had continual involvement with Cal Farley's Boys Ranch since 1954. He was an Army veteran of World War II, having served in Europe, Korea and the Philippines. Mr. Thompson was a member of Vega United Methodist Church and the Vega Kiwanis Club. He was president of the Vega Senior Citizens. He married Marcetas Loi "Mable" Tracy in 1941 at Guymon, Okla. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Marvin Thompson of Clarendon and Jerry Thompson of Carrollton; a sister, Elinor Ashcraft of Vernon; a brother, D.L. Burial will be in Littlefield Memorial Park at Littlefield by Foskey-Lilley-McGill. Mr. Hatla was born in San Antonio and had been a lifetime resident of Dimmitt. In 1988, he graduated from Dimmitt High School, where he served on the annual staff. He was a photographer. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and was active in MYF. He was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Texas Tech Saddle Tramps. Survivors include his parents, Glenn and Diane Hatla of Dimmitt; a brother, Todd Hatla of Dimmitt; and his grandmothers, Joy Dibert and Frances Hatla, both of Littlefield. Celia Lopez PLAINVIEW - Celia Lopez, 75, died Tuesday, May 19, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Ben Kasteel officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Lopez was born in Taylor. She moved to Plainview in 1943 and worked on area farms. She had been a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church since 1956. She was a Guadalupana and Crucillista. She married Rafel Lopez Sr. in 1937 at Taylor. They opened R. Lopez Grocery Store in 1946. Mrs. Lopez was preceded in death by her husband in 1986 and by three sons, Faustino Lopez, Eusebio Lopez and Juan Lopez. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ladesma of Lubbock and Elena Olivares of Pasadena; three sons, Pete Lopez and Rafel Lopez Jr., both of Plainview, and Felipe Morales of Baytown; a brother, Joe Peralez of Humble; four sisters, Maria Perez of Abilene, Julia Morelo of Idaho, Santos Portillo of Brenham and Victoria Arispe of Rosemont, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
