Nazario Roque OLTON - Nazario Roque, 55, died Thursday, Nov. 19. 1998. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Peters Catholic Church with the Rev. Martin Pena officiating. Burial was in Olton Cemetery by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home. Mr. Roque was born in Durango, Mexico. He was a farmer and member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Olton. He married Rebeca Herrera in 1963 at Juarez, Mexico. Clara H. Friday Wise SPEARMAN - Clara H. Friday Wise, 80, died Monday, Nov. 16, 1998. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ken Cole officiating. Her body was donated to Texas Tech University Medical School. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman. Mrs. Wise was born in Egg Harbor City, N.J., and moved to Spearman in 1966. During World War II, she served in the Women's Army Corp. Mrs. Wise was part-owner of KRDFFM radio station where she worked until her death. She was a member of the women's division of the Spearman Chamber of Commerce and the Spearman Lynx and Lynxettes Booster Club. In 1978-79, she was named Rotary Club Employee of the Year. She married Chet Wise who preceded her in death in 1975. Survivors include two sisters, Amanda Adams and Billie Engelman, both of Egg Harbor City; and several nieces and nephews. John Henry Bland SHAMROCK - John Henry Bland, 73, died Friday, Nov. 20, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Ural Cemetery in Kiowa County, Okla., with Sid Smith, minister of Church of Christ in Shamrock, officiating. Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Bland was born in Cordell, Okla., and lived in several towns in the Texas Panhandle for most of his life. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He moved to Shamrock eight years ago. He was employed as a mill operator for Moody Farms Feedlot and Heritage Beef Cattle Co. before his retirement. He married Thelma Anderson in 1972 at Amarillo. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Mayne, in 1994 and by a stepdaughter, Linda Jean Croy, also in 1994. Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Ethel Taylor of Pampa, Phylis Martin of Jasper, Jackie Thompson of Grove City, Ohio, Joe Helen Grimes of Alton, Ill., and Carolyon West of Pampa; three stepdaughters, Helen Kimbrell of Brownwood, and Juanita Strain and Lois Flippin, both of Fort Worth; a brother, Jack Bland of Houston; 24 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Lawrence Castleberry FRIONA - Lawrence "Barney" Castleberry, 84, died Friday, Nov. 20, 1998. Graveside services were at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Friona Cemetery with Leon Talley of Friona, Jeff Procter of Bovina and Tim Nations of Wichita Falls officiating. Arrangements were by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home. Mr. Castleberry was born in Denton. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps. He moved to Friona 10 years ago from Vernon. Mr. Castleberry was a retired farmer and rancher. He managed grocery stores in Denver City and Vernon for several years. He married Jean Smith in 1939 at Vernon. Survivors include his wife; a son, Larry Castleberry of Weatherford; two daughters, Libby Procter of Friona and Ann Faver of Amarillo; a sister, Polly Hardage of Vernon; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Hila Algene Renick Cochran BORGER - Hila Algene Renick Cochran, 82, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First Christian Church with the Rev. Ernie Williams, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens in Pampa by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mrs. Cochran was born in Corrumpa, N.M. She graduated from Borger High School and West Texas State Teachers College then taught for three years in Fritch. From 1962 until 1966, she taught English at Frank Phillips Junior College. She lived in Phillips for 31 years before moving to Borger in 1978. A member of First Christian Church, she served as board member, Christian Women's Fellowship president, adult education teacher and camp counselor. She was a homemaker. She married C.F. "Fred" Cochran in 1942. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Linda Ross of Austin and Carol Groom of Warren, Vt.; two sisters, Willa June Hull of Borger and Jean Roscoe of Fort Worth; and three grandchildren. Burial was in East Mound Cemetery by Seigler Funeral Home of Matador. Mrs. Whitaker was born and raised in Paducah where she graduated from high school. She moved to Motley County in 1971. She was a homemaker, a reflexologist and was employed by Carl Darr Saddle Shop in Paducah. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Matador. She married Billy Joe Whitaker in 1953 at Matador. He preceded her in death in 1990. Survivors include four sons, Billy Don Whitaker of Dickens, Burt Whitaker of Flomot and Bobby Whitaker and Brent Whitaker, both of Matador; a sister, Delores Hopkins of Enterprise, Ala.; and five grandchildren. Mr. Matheu was born in Manila, Philippines and moved to Pampa from Fort Worth in 1987. He received a master's degree in psychology from the University of Manila and practiced clinical psychology until moving to the United States in 1972. Mr. Matheu was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and was a fourth degree member of the Frank Keim Council of Knights of Columbus. He was a former member and secretary of the Downtown Kiwanis Club. He married Glenna Inghram in 1975 at Wellington. Survivors include his wife; a stepdaughter, Annetta Tewes of Kaufman; two stepsons, David Inghram of Amarillo and Craig Inghram of Havelock, N.C.; two brothers, Stanislaw Matheu and Telesforo Matheu, both of the Philippines; and six step-grandchildren. The family will be at 1005 Fisher Dr. They suggest memorials be to Frank Keim Council of Knights of Columbus. W.O. Adkins PAMPA - W.O. "Dub" Adkins, 71, died Friday, Nov. 20, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with the Rev. John Denton, interim pastor of Central Baptist Church of Borger, and the Rev. Jim Powell, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Howardwick, officiating. Burial will be in Groom Cemetery. Mr. Adkins was born in Shamrock and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He moved to Pampa from Borger in 1948. For many years, he owned and operated Adkins Paint and Body Shop then worked for Ford's Body Shop. Mr. Adkins was a member and deacon of the Calvary Baptist Church. For more than 30 years, he was a scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troops 16 and 416 and received the Silver Beaver award. He was a former member of the Pampa Noon Lions Cub. He married Addie Richey in 1994 at Shamrock. His first marriage was to Geneva Boydstun in 1955 at Raton, N.M. She preceded him in death in 1991. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Tommy Adkins of Clarendon, Steve Adkins of Houston, Clifford Adkins of Pampa and Russell Veale of Virginia; a sister, Bea Lively of Borger; a brother, William A. Myrtle Karrh HALE CENTER - Myrtle Karrh, 90, died Friday, Nov. 20, 1998. Burial will be in Hale Center Cemetery by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home. Mrs. Karrh was born in Moulton, Ala., and moved to Hale Center in 1941 from the Snider community. She was a teacher and member of First Baptist Church, Hale Center Senior Citizens Association, the Home Demonstration Club and the Hale Center's Women's Bridge Club. She was a 50-plus year member of the Pioneer Study Club. She married Rayburn Karrh in 1928 in Alabama. He died in 1981. Survivors include four daughters, Betty Miller of Houston, Gail Brown of Longview, Kay Bock of Irving and Margene Seals of Wichita, Kan.; a son, Robert G. Karrh of Amarillo; two sisters, Marjorie Francis of Decatur, Ala., and Evelyn Matthews of Birmingham, Ala.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He moved to Plainview in 1957 and joined the Peace Corps in 1964. He moved to Mountainair, N.M., in 1967 then to Albuquerque in 1972. He was a Catholic. He married Bennie Cisneros in 1965 at Mountainair. "Charlie" Giles, 59, of Abilene, died Friday, Nov. 20, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Olton Cemetery in Olton with the Rev. In 1952, he moved to Olton where he graduated from high school in 1960. He attended Ranger Junior College and West Texas State University. He was a veteran of the Army. He moved to Abilene in 1975 where he owned and operated Giles Construction and Landscaping. He was a member of Abilene Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Oak Street Baptist Church. He was a member of Fritch Church of Christ. He retired in 1975 as an operator for Natural Gas Pipeline. He married Marie Gregory in 1939 at Clovis, N.M. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert L. Moore, in 1958. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dale Moore of Lawton, Okla., and Ronnie Moore of Fritch; a daughter, Linda Lane of Katy; a brother, Mark L. A 1938 graduate of Amarillo High, she had been a school secretary at Emerson Elementary School. She was a Baptist. She married Cecil Fewell in 1940 at Amarillo. He died in 1977. Her second marriage was to Fred Wall in 1981 at Las Vegas. He died in 1982. Survivors include two sons, Donald D. Fewell of Amarillo and Jerry W. Fewell of Phoenix; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Silverton Cemetery. Mr. Chappell was born in Wise County and moved to Amarillo in 1946 from Silverton. In 1985, he retired after 40 years as a carpenter. He was a member of the local Carpenters Union, Khiva Shrine, San Jacinto Masonic Lodge and Lubbock Scottish Rite. He was a lifelong Baptist. He married Mildred Chesshir in 1940. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Calvin Chappell of McKinney and Fred Chappell of Austin; a daughter, Durenda Quick of Denton; a brother, G.W. Mrs. Hawkins was born in Mountain Park where she graduated from high school in 1934. With her husband, she lived in Higgins, Texas from 1943 until 1987. During that time, she was a member of Docilis Club, Home Extension Club and United Methodist Women. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church. She married Cecil W. "Spud" Hawkins in 1934 at Hobart. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jerry Hawkins of Clarendon, Texas and Jack Hawkins of Cameron, Texas; a daughter, Gwen Cochran of Edmond; three sisters, Edna Slocum of Manteca, Calif., Olive Robinette of Florence, Ore., and Velma Bullock of Cordell; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home in Clovis. Mrs. Curry was born in Caddo, Okla., and was a longtime resident of the Texico area. With her husband, she farmed south of Clovis. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Texico. She married Claude C. Curry in 1927 at West Camp. He preceded her in death in 1982. Elsewhere Jesus B. Martinez Sr. WICHITA, Kan. - Jesus B. Martinez Sr., 67, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998. Rosary will be at 6:30 p.m. today in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Arrangements are by Broadway Mortuary of Wichita. Mr. Martinez retired as a machinist from Cessna Aircraft Co. Survivors include four sons, Joseph Martinez, Jesus Martinez Jr., Richard Martinez and David Martinez, all of Wichita; five daughters, Helen Martinez, Jesucita Tackett, Rose Martinez, Mary Martinez and Sarah Behrens, all of Wichita; two brothers, Raymond Lucero of Amarillo and Guadalupe Martinez of San Gabriel, Calif.; two sisters, Virginia Martinez and Veronica Gonzales, both of Wichita; 16 grandchildren; and a greatgrandchild. The family suggests memorials be to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church of Wichita. W.L. Posey CROWELL - W.L. "Bill" Posey, 74, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Christian Church in Crowell with L.G. Simmons officiating. Burial will be in Crowell Cemetery by Womack-Manard Funeral Home. Mr. Posey was born in Knob Noster, Mo. During World War II, he served in the Marines. He attended Ozark Bible College in Joplin, Mo. A retired stockman, Mr. Posey was pastor of independent Christian churches in Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas and Texas, including the First Christian Church in Crowell for 25 years. He was a member of the Crowell Veterans of Foreign Wars. He married Ruth Gobin in 1976 at Memphis. His first marriage was in 1946 at Popular Bluff, Mo., to Ruby Jeanette Garrett who died in 1975. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Becky Pady of Rockport; six sons, Robert Knox Posey of Waynesville, Mo., Bill Posey Jr., of San Diego, James Brent Posey of Kennett, Mo., Bob Gobin Jr., of Bowie, Dan R. Gobin of Lubbock and Jim Don Gobin of Abilene; a sister, Pearl Grimes of Malden, Mo.; a brother, Tom Posey of Memphis; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
