Brown William H. "Bill" Brown, 73, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, April 21, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Howard Batson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery with graveside rites by Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 26. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home Inc., 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Brown was born in Amarillo and graduated from Price College in 1941. He served three years as a staff sergeant with the 82nd Airborne Division Paratroopers from 1942 to 1945. He served in England, France, Holland, Belgium and Germany, making combat jumps in Normandy, Holland and the Rhineland. He earned a Silver Star, the Purple Heart and two clusters, the Good Conduct Ribbon, the ETO bar with four stars and a unit citation and cluster. He returned to Amarillo in 1945. He then entered the University of Tulsa, majoring in journalism. He later attended West Texas State College before joining the former Amarillo Times as a sports writer in 1948. When the Amarillo Times merged with the Amarillo Globe, Mr. Brown became sports editor of the Globe-Times. He also was a general reporter for the Globe-News. Mr. Brown joined Pioneer Natural Gas Co. in 1954 as assistant advertising manager in Lubbock. He was promoted to advertising manager in 1959, retiring in 1986. He was active with the Llano Estacado Boy Scouts and was a volunteer for the Northwest Texas Hospital Auxiliary. He served on the board of directors for both the Amarillo and the Lubbock Homebuilders Associations. He was a member of the Tascosa Country Club Golf Association. He had been a member of First Baptist Church for 25 years and was a member of the Henry Brown Sunday School Class. He married Shirley Cline in 1947 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Bob Brown of Mansfield, Mike Brown of Piedmont, Okla., and Tom Brown of Amarillo; two daughters, Lou Anne Stoddard of Lewisville and Lisa Lillard of Brentwood, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family requests memorials be to the First Baptist Church building fund, Meals on Wheels, the High Plains Food Bank or the Pioneer Retirees scholarship fund. Olie Tylatha Johnson Olie Tylatha Johnson, 91, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, April 21, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Caprock Christian Fellowship with Max Beggs officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Johnson was born in Grand Saline. She was a homemaker and a member of Caprock Christian Fellowship Church. She married C.H. Johnson in 1927. He died in 1960. Richard Lee Lowery Richard Lee Lowery, 55, died Monday, April 20, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. He was an employee of Texas Body Shop before teaching auto body repair at Palo Duro High School. He was a member of Christian Church of God. Mr. Lowery married Betty Gibson in 1964 at Fayetteville, Ark. She had a limited commercial pilot license. Mrs. Webber was a homemaker. She also worked in gift shops. She was a Girl Scout director in Plainview for eight years. She had been a member of First Presbyterian Church since 1963. She married Harry Webber in 1935 at Hinsdale, Ill. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Susan Summerfield of Essex, Vt.; a son, Paul Webber of Amarillo; a brother, Paul Boisen of North Carolina; and two grandchildren. She worked and retired from the Dallas Independent School District with E.D. Walker's vision program. She was preceded in death by two sons and a daughter. She taught private piano and organ lessons in Panhandle, White Deer, Wellington, Samnorwood and Quail. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the 55 Plus Club and the Texas Music Federation Guild. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Walter L. Hagler, in 1953; and by her second husband, J.L. "Slick" Naylor, in 1993. Survivors include two sons, Jimmie Naylor of Hewitt and Ben Naylor of Fort Worth; three daughters, Mary Esther Smith and Betty Biggs, both of Panhandle, and Virginia Cleveland of Friona; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Mr. Henderson was born in Pinon, N.M. He attended Weed, N.M., schools. He moved in 1939 to Portales, where he farmed. He served with the Army Air Corps during World War II. He worked for Santa Fe Railway for nine years in Portales. He moved to Long Beach, Calif., in 1956, and worked as a pipefitter and welder. He retired in 1978 and moved to Tulia. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Vigo Park Baptist Church and the Swisher County Senior Citizens. Mr. Henderson married Bonnie Boyles in 1943 at Portales. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Billie Hobbs of Happy and Susan Satterlee of Colfax, Calif.; four sons, Harold Henderson Jr. of Chehalis, Wash., Joe Henderson of Lakewood, Calif., Ben Henderson of Long Beach and Jim Henderson of Solvany, Calif.; two brothers, Doyle Henderson of Tatum, N.M., and J.C. Fred Gauna CLOVIS, N.M. - Fred Gauna, 68, died Tuesday, April 21, 1998, in Lubbock, Texas. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Guadalupe by the Rev. Daniel Balizan. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Gauna was born in Vaughan and moved to Clovis in 1941. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a machinist for the Santa Fe Railway before retiring in 1984. After retiring, he was the owner of Yesterday's Treasures for several years. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community, where he was a member of the prayer group, was a CCD teacher and had been chairman of the Cinco de Mayo Fiesta. Mr. Gauna was involved in a jail ministry for youth and had been a youth baseball coach for the Western League Cubs for 22 years. He married Helen Romero in 1955. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Sal Gauna of Denver and Timothy Gauna of Clovis; two daughters, Tina Easley of Denver and Lisa Gauna of Clovis; a brother, Tony Gauna of Hanford, Calif.; two sisters, Connie Lucero of Tucson, Ariz., and Angie Mainer of Concord, Calif.; and two granddaughters. Sarah Beth Loudder TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Sarah Beth McGehee Loudder, 81, died Monday, April 20, 1998, in Amarillo. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Dunn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J. Robert Sawyer, minister of Center Street United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Loudder was born in Wayside, Texas. She was a 1938 graduate of West Texas State College. She married Jack Loudder in 1940. They lived and farmed west of Happy, Texas, until moving to Tucumcari in 1960. They ranched north of Tucumcari in Harding County. Mrs. Loudder served on the Girl Scout and Campfire Girl adult councils. She was a founding member of the Wagonwheel Cowbelles. She also served on the Tucumcari Planning and Zoning Commission. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1996. Survivors include two sons, George Loudder of College Station, Texas, and Mike Loudder of Tucumcari; a daughter, Sally Minkley of Claude, Texas; a brother, Melton McGehee of Wayside; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
