Garrison DALHART - Joe P. Garrison, 74, died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Dalhart Church of Christ with Gaylord Cook, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Dalhart by Hass Funeral Home. Mr. Garrison was born in Pueblo, Colo., and had lived in Dalhart most of his life. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a cowboy on several ranches in the area including the Matador Ranch. He also was a railroad engineer for 46 years. He married Ann Higgs in 1965 at Clayton, N.M. Survivors include his wife; a son, Mike Higgs of Amarillo; two daughters, Jackie Fox of Canyon and Gina Culbertson of Amarillo; a sister, Darlene Stanley of Dalhart; and four grandchildren. The family will be at 1206 Peach Ave. Carl E. Lawrence PAMPA - Carl E. Lawrence, 91, died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Richard Bartel, associate pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Mr. Lawrence was born in Independence, Kan., and had been a Pampa resident since 1929. A World War II veteran, he served in the Army in New Guinea. Mr. Lawrence retired in 1976 as owner and operator of Caldwell's Drive Inn. He was a member of the Golden Key Kiwanis Club and was a Presbyterian. He married Aldine Hooten Price in 1973 at Norman, Okla. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Inez Fannin, in 1970 and by a stepson, Willie Hunt. Survivors include his wife; three stepsons, David Price and Larry Price, both of Pampa, and Gary Price of El Paso; a stepdaughter, Nelda Maginnis of Reno, Nev.; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. The body was cremated and will not be available for viewing. Tennessee Martha Smith CLARENDON - Tennessee "Tennie" Smith, 94, died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Truman Ledbetter, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon by Myers-Long Funeral Directors of Silverton. Mrs. Smith was born in Indian Territory. She attended Centerview High School where she was on the state championship basketball team. She was state champion in singles and doubles tennis. She moved to Clarendon from Prague, Okla., in 1925. She attended San Jacinto School of Beauty Culture and worked as a beautician for many years. For 70 years, she was a member of First Baptist Church and was treasurer for the Rebecca Sunday School class for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Clarendon Senior Citizens. She married Bert Smith in 1923 at Prague. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1951, by a son, Bert Smith Jr., in 1973 and by two daughters, Wanda Marie Smith in 1927 and Harlene Smith Phillips in 1980. Survivors include a son, Donald R. Smith of Clarendon; two sisters, Edith Hart of Konawa, Okla., and Pearl Eanes of Granbury; 13 grandchildren; 27 greatgrandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren. Ralph Freeman CANADIAN - Ralph Freeman, 89, died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church in Canadian with Dr. Lewis Holland, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors. Mr. Freeman was born in Mobeetie and resided most of his life in Hemphill County. He had worked on several area ranches including Tubb and Ramp Ranch, Frank Shaller Ranch for 40 years and Teas Ranch for 14 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He married Angie Lois Hubble in 1929 at Cheyenne, Okla. She died in 1996. Survivors include a daughter, Lois Bussell of Ringwood, Okla.; a son, Roger Freeman of Dickinson; a sister, Gladys Hollowell of Pampa; three grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and eight greatgreat-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Abraham Memorial Home, First United Methodist Church or a favorite charity. La Dema Wright MULESHOE - La Dema Wright, 87, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Muleshoe Church of Christ with Kenneth Stone of Irving and Ray Lovejoy of Lubbock officiating. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home. Mrs. Wright was born in Texola, Okla. In 1953, she moved to Muleshoe from Davidson, Okla. She was a homemaker and member of the Muleshoe Church of Christ. She married J.B. Wright in 1931 at Davidson. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Wagnon, in 1993. Survivors include two daughters, Laquita Stone of Irving and Carolyn Lovejoy of Lubbock; three brothers, Jack Lewis and Charles Lewis, both of Las Cruces, N.M., and Tom Lewis of Deming, N.M.; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Guillermo Morales, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Castro Memorial Gardens by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home. Mrs. Crespin was born in Gilmer. She moved to Dimmitt in 1942 from Hereford. She was a homemaker and a Catholic. She married Flabio Crespin in 1933 at Las Vegas, N.M. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986 by a daughter, Mary Crespin, and by a son, Frank Crespin, both in 1987. Survivors include five daughters, Rose McLain of Hart, Nora Spears of Texico, N.M., Helen Crespin of San Angelo, and Vitalia Sandoval and Donna King, both of Dimmitt; five sons, Louis Crespin of Denver, Alfonso Crespin of Lamar, Colo., Joe Crespin of Long Beach, Calif., Robert Crespin of Dimmitt and Johnny Crespin of Amarillo; a stepsister, Mary Jaramillo of Amarillo; 30 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Viewing will be until service time at the church. R.E. Jackson HEREFORD - R.E. Jackson, 81, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in First Assembly of God Church of Hereford with the Rev. David Morris of the church and the Rev. Mike Sullivan, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Muleshoe Cemetery in Muleshoe by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home. Mr. Jackson was born in Vernon. An Army veteran of World War II, he moved to Deaf Smith County in 1971 from Muleshoe. He retired from Barrett and Crowfoot Feeders and was a member of First Assembly of God. He married Quessie Hill in 1982 at Hereford. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Georgia Wilemon, in 1981. They married in 1937 at Clovis, N.M. Survivors include his wife; a son, Ray Jackson of Liberal, Kan.; three daughters, Linda Chandler of Hereford, Velma Dearing of Plano and Vi Carson of Rose Bud, Ark.; three sisters, Juanita Scarborough of Muleshoe, Fannie Hughes of Clovis and Nina Mae Hendrix of Amarillo; three stepdaughters; a stepson; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The family will be at 218 Hickory. They suggest memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center. E.W. Dickson SPEARMAN - E.W. Dickson, 92, died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Apostolic Faith Church with the Rev. Marcus Adair and the Rev. James Brown officiating. Burial will at 2 p.m. Thursday in Barlow Cemetery in Magnolia, Ark., by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman. Mr. Dickson was born in Columbia County, Ark. He moved to the Spearman area 23 years ago from Houston. He was a minister and evangelist. He was a member of the Apostolic Faith Church. He married Helen Scott in 1965 at Magnolia. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cladys Ward, in 1964. They were married in 1928 at Murfreesboro, Ark. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Myra Berner of Spearman; a son, Weldon "Sonny" Dickson of DeSoto; a stepson, Robert A. Scott of Bella Vista, Ark.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Amarillo Walter Scott Strader Sr. Walter Scott Strader Sr., 76, of Amarillo, died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Llano Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Sammie Rainey of Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Strader was born in Era and had been a resident of Amarillo for 25 years. He served with the Army Air Corps during World War II where he was a control tower operator and in air communications in India. He was an electrical sales engineer. Mr. Strader was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and of United Methodist Men. He had been active in the Boy Scouts of America and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by a son, Walter Scott Strader Jr., in 1978. Survivors include his wife, Katherine; a son, Ronald R. Strader of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a daughter, Frances Ashley of Dallas; a brother, Gregg Strader of Lubbock; two sisters, Maurine Burk of Lubbock and Mildred Reeves of Roswell, N.M.; five grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Trinity United Methodist Church, 3400 S. Jackson St., Amarillo, TX 79109. Wendell L. Fox Wendell L. Fox, 81, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Christ Lutheran Church, 421 S. Western St., with the Rev. Scott E. Herbert, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum by Golden Gate Mortuary, 1416 N. Hughes. Mr. Fox was born in Larned, Kan., where he attended public schools. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and retired from Santa Fe Railway where he had been a chef. He and his wife, Georgia, had been married for 58 years. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Wendell James Fox and Mark Edward Fox, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Melva Papin and Gladys Nicholson, both of Denver; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will be at 611 Boston Place. George Devoll George Devoll, 66, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Llano Cemetery Mausoleum with Paul Sneed of Central Church of Christ officiating. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Devoll was born in Ralls and graduated from Clovis High School in 1950. He moved to Amarillo in 1965 where he went to work for Russell Stationary and Printing. He was an offset printer for 40 years. From 1968 until 1990, Mr. Devoll was employed by Standard Printing and then worked for St. Anthony's Hospital print shop until 1992. He was a Mason and member of the Church of Christ. He married Joy Burkhart in 1966 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a son, Matt Devoll of Pasadena, Calif.; and two grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice. The body will not be available for viewing. Christina Ann Bralley Christina Ann Bralley, 13, of Amarillo, died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Murray Gossett, associate minister, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Miss Bralley was born in Amarillo and was a lifelong resident. She attended Belmar Elementary School and was in the eighth grade at Crockett Middle School where she sang in the choir. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Survivors include her parents, Brent Bralley of Amarillo and Kim Moore of Big Spring; a sister, Nicole Bralley of Big Spring; her grandparents, Pat and Bob Campbell of Tempe, Ariz., and Judy and Les Hoyer of Amarillo; and her greatgrandmothers, Ilene Sheffield and Jerry Bralley, both of Amarillo. Pearl Howard Macrander Pearl Howard Macrander, 86, of Amarillo, died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Macrander was born in Atchison County, Mo., and moved to Amarillo in 1943 from Westboro, Mo. She was a homemaker and a nondenominational Christian. She was an active resident of the Canyon Retirement Center. She married Lawrence C. Macrander in 1932 at Tarkio, Mo. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995 and by a son, Joe H. Macrander, in August. Survivors include two sons, Gene Macrander of Amarillo and Jim Macrander of Sunnyvale, Calif.; a sister, Dora Nelson of Westboro, Mo.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. New Mexico Anita Vazquez TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Anita Vazquez, 61, died Monday, Dec. 21, 1998. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in Dunn Memorial Funeral Home. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Anne's Catholic Church with the Rev. John C. Daniel as celebrant. Burial will be in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Vazquez was born in Mexico and had been a resident of Tucumcari for the past 15 years. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church. Survivors include five sons, Manuel Vazquez, Jose Vazquez, Adan Vazquez, Guadalupe Vazquez and Jesus Vazquez, all of Tucumcari; a daughter, Inocencia Vazquez of Tucumcari; a sister, Maria Ceniceros of Parral, Mexico; a brother, Daniel Ceniceros of Juarez, Mexico; and 12 grandchildren. Viewing will be until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Elsewhere S.C. Walker ANGLETON - S.C. "Cal" Walker, a former Amarillo resident, died Friday, Dec. 18, 1998. Services will be private. Arrangements were by Miller Funeral Home of Houston. Mr. Walker was born in Erie, Pa., and moved to Amarillo in 1949. After almost 40 years, he retired from American Meter Co. He moved to Angleton in 1995. He married Betty Cole 50 years ago at Tulsa, Okla. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jacquie Healy of Denver and Sally Mudroch of Angleton; a son, Stephen Walker of Arlington; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
