Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Wayside Community Church with the Rev. Jim Franz, former pastor, and the Rev. Jim Tope, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Wayside Cemetery by Holley Funeral Home, 11th Street and Hereford Hwy., Canyon. Mrs. Hamblen was born near Santa Rosa, N.M. She graduated from West Texas Normal High School. With her husband, she farmed and ranched in the Wayside community for 58 years. Mrs. Hamblen was secretary-treasurer for the Wayside Baptist Church for 42 years. She was active in 4-H and Extension Club, Happy Wheat Growers Association, and Farm Bureaus of Swisher and Armstrong counties. She married Henry Hamblen in 1939 at Tucumcari, N.M. He preceded her in death in 1997. Survivors include three sisters, Carrie Mae Doak of Hereford, Vera Ray Dodson of Canyon and Ruby Benton of Plainview; and several nieces and nephews. The family requests memorials be to Wet Team of the Wayside Emergency Service. Woody Williams HIGGINS - Woody Williams, 72, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church in Higgins with the Rev. Clifford Baze, pastor, and the Rev. Dinzel Leonard of Canadian officiating. The Kevin A. Stout American Legion Post 509 will conduct a military graveside service in Higgins Cemetery. Arrangements are by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors of Canadian. Mr. Williams was born in Higgins and was a lifelong resident. He was a World War II veteran of the Navy. During his tour, he served on the battleships USS Honolulu and USS Nevada. He received six stars, four combat bars, World War II Victory medal, and a Navy unit commendation ribbon. Mr. Williams was a bootmaker who owned Woody's Boot Shop in Canadian and Higgins and was a trustee for the Higgins Independent School District. He was a member of the Kevin A. Stout American Legion Post 509 in Higgins, the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Canadian and First Baptist Church in Higgins where he served as deacon. He married Vivian Booth in 1948 at Arnett, Okla. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steve Williams of Gun Barrel City and Carson Williams of Miami; two daughters, Linda Doyal of Topeka, Kan., and Dynett Groff of Amarillo; two brothers, M.C. Williams of Conroe and Carlos Williams of Shattuck; three sisters, Geneive Davis of Lucerne Valley, Calif., Virginia Fechner of Hesperia, Calif., and Velora Phelps of Eugene, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Joe Bob Grayson SPEARMAN - Joe Bob Grayson, 44, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998. Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with T.J. Pittman and the Rev. BL. Davis officiating. Graveside service will be at 4:30 p.m. today in Wheeler Cemetery in Wheeler by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman. Mr. Grayson was born in Dumas. He moved to Spearman 38 years ago from Sunray. He was a 1972 graduate of Spearman High School and attended North Texas State University. He was a retired oil field driller and a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include a son, Chuck Grayson of Spearman; his parents, B.J. and Jonell Grayson of Spearman; and two sisters, Bobbie Sheets of Round Rock and Pam Edwards of Sayre, Okla. Amarillo Ruby Wood Mileur Ruby Wood Mileur, 93, of Wolfforth and a former Amarillo resident, died Friday, Feb. 20, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in St. Mary's Catholic Church with Monsignor Francis A. Smyer officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Mileur was born in Rush Springs, Indian Territory. She moved to the Sudan area of Texas in the 1930s. She and her husband owned a hatchery until the 1950s. She had been a resident of Amarillo since 1947. Mrs. Mileur was a charter member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and active in Little Flower Mission Guild. She served as a Pink Lady at St. Anthony's Hospital until the early 1990s. She married Urban H. Mileur in 1925 at Duncan, Okla. He died in 1970. Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Krahn of Lubbock; a son, Max E. Mileur of Atlanta; a sister-in-law, Maxine Wood of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. John Tatum John Tatum, 91, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Jim Garrett, Polk Street United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Tatum was born in Fincastle. He graduated from Athens High School in 1924. He attended Texas Tech University as an electrical engineer major. He was employed as an electrical engineer for several companies in Amarillo and Pampa including Southwestern Public Service Co., and Cabot Engineering. He was a member of PAUMC and several engineering organizations. He married Elizabeth Imogene Couch in 1934 at Amarillo. She died in 1986. Survivors include two daughters, Bettie Ingham of Amarillo and Lynn Mims of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; and three grandchildren. Holman E.E."Dutch" Holman, 86, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery with Windell Taylor, chaplain of Veterans Administration Medical Center, officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Flag folding will be by Disabled American Veterans Chapter 26. Mr. Holman was born in Mangum, Okla. He moved to Amarillo 58 years ago from Oklahoma. He was a World War II veteran. In 1976, he retired from Panhandle Trailways after 40 years. He continued to drive for them an additional three years. He was a Protestant. Survivors include three brothers, Hurshel Holman of Amarillo, Charlie Holman of Greenfield, Okla., and Marvin Holman of Oklahoma City; two sisters, Thelma Berger of Amarillo and Jessie Mae Dunsmore of Oklahoma City; and several nieces and nephews. The family will be at 14918 Mescalero Trail. They request memorials be to Georgia Manor Nursing Home or Crown of Texas Hospice. Kenneth L. Smith Kenneth L. "Cotton" Smith, 52, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Moose Lodge, 714 N. Filmore. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Chapel, 1010 W. Ninth Ave. There will be a wake following services. Mr. Smith was born in Lubbock. He was employed as a mechanic for Ken's Texaco. He was a member of Moose Lodge No. 1361. Survivors include a daughter, Crystal Smith of Amarillo; a son, Albert Smith of Dumas; his father, Lyndon Baker of Amarillo; his grandfather, C.C. Yates of Ralls; 10 brothers and sisters; two special friends, Carole Poole and Micki Patton; and three grandchildren. The family will be at 2807 S. Cleveland. Canyon Catherine Moore Woodman Catherine Moore Woodman, 98, of Canyon, died Friday, Feb. 20, 1998. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m Saturday, Feb. 28, in Holley Funeral Home Chapel, 11th Street and Hereford Highway in Canyon with the Rev. Jim Hancock, former pastor, officiating. The body will be cremated. Mrs. Woodman was born in Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from Oelwein High School and Des Moines University. She moved to Fort Worth in 1937 where she was employed as a bookkeeper by Carpenter Paper Co. She moved to Canyon in 1986. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Hundley Circle of WMU and the Canyon Motherin-Law Club. She married James S. Woodman in 1928. Survivors include a sister, Marjorie Medford of Waco; two brothers, Donald Moore of Waco and Paul Moore of Washington; a grandson, Gary Phillips of Canyon; and three great-grandchildren. Elsewhere Bertha Stearns MATADOR - Bertha Stearns, 92, died Sunday, Feb. 22, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Felton Gilmore, pastor, and the Rev. Jim Hancock of Lubbock officiating. Burial will be in East Mound Cemetery in Matador by Seigler Funeral Home. Mrs. Stearns was born in Matador. She taught school at Matador and Roaring Springs for 28 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She married Alvin M. Stearns in 1927 at Matador. He died in 1973. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
