Mr. Vaughn was born in Memphis, Texas, and had been a resident of Borger since 1953. He was a member of Riverview Baptist Church. He was the owner of a lawn-service business and a restaurant. Survivors include his mother, Aleene Vaughn of Borger; two brothers, Benny Vaughn of Beaverton, Ore., and Joe Vaughn of Gresham, Ore.; and two sisters, Gereta Truman of Borger and Judy Burrows of Tablerock, Wyo. Johnnie E. Garrard STINNETT - Johnnie E. Garrard, 54, died Sunday, June 21, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Eternal Light Pentecostal Church in Borger with the Rev. William Adams, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors. Mr. Garrard was born in Idowa, Ill., and had been a resident of Stinnett for 39 years. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, where he received the Purple Heart. He had worked as a truck driver and mechanic for Phillips Petroleum and Plains Livestock. He attended Eternal Light Pentecostal Holiness Church. He married Alice Vannatta in 1975 in Hooker, Okla. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael of Stinnett and Jerry of Abilene; two brothers, Allen of Amarillo and Preston of Stinnett; four sisters, LeAnna Hooks, Terry Larson and Shirley Samford, all of Stinnett, and Jessie Ratliff of Borger; his mother, Rowena Garrard of Stinnett; and three grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing at Brown Memorial Chapel in Stinnett. Wanda Youts DIMMITT - Wanda Youts, 77, died Sunday, June 21, 1998. Burial will be in Castro Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Younts was born in Elmer, Okla. She moved to Dimmitt in 1938 from the Big Square community. She married Charles T. Youts in 1938 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1976. She was a member of First Baptist Church and retired from the Dimmitt Independent School District in 1980, where she had worked in the lunchroom for many years. Survivors include a son, Charles T. Youts Jr. of Laredo; three daughters, Shirley Carpenter of Lubbock, Charlette Sanders of San Angelo and LaWanda Quintero of Hart; three brothers, Paul Williams and Leroy Williams, both of Wichita Falls, and Laverne Williams of Bowie; a sister, Willie Moore of Columbia, N.C.; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Johnny Ray Stidham TULIA - Johnny Ray Stidham, 69, died Sunday, June 21, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Tulia Church of Christ with Dennis Conway, minister, and Bill Gunther, pastor of Assembly of God Church in Tulia, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home. Mr. Stidham was born and raised in Cherokee County where he attended schools. He moved with his family to Quitaque in the early 1940s and farmed. He was in the Army during World War II until he received a hardship discharge after his father's death and returned home to raise his siblings. Mr. Stidham moved his family to Tulia in 1952. He retired in 1987 after 34 years with the Texas State Department of Highways and Public Transportation where he worked in Briscoe and Swisher counties. He was a member of Tulia Church of Christ. He married Dorothy Nadine Brice in 1959 at Memphis. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Dianne Osburn and Marlene Roper, both of Tulia; two sisters, his twin Bonnie Purdy and Emma Choate, both of Tulia; two brothers, Bennie "Blackie" Stidham of Tulia and Roy Stidham of Peralta, N.M.; and two grandchildren. Elva Rhea Lawrence MATADOR - Elva Rhea Lawrence, 76, died Sunday, June 21, 1998. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church of Matador with the Rev. Rickey Lawrence, pastor of Full Gospel Church of Roaring Springs, officiating. Burial will be in East Mound Cemetery in Matador by Seigler Funeral Home. Mrs. Lawrence was born in Matador. She lived in Wichita Falls for 20 years before returning to Matador in 1988. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church. She married E.D. Lawrence in 1938 at Paducah. He died in May. Mr. Held was born in Panhandle where he had been a lifelong resident. He was the owner and operator of Circle Motel. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Panhandle, Lubbock Scottish Rite and Commandery No. 96 of Knights Templar of Texas. He was a 50year year member of the Mason Carson Lodge No. 1167 and was past master. Survivors include his wife, Hester Held; two sons, Michael J. Held of Fritch and Lesley D. He moved to Borger a year and a half ago from California. He was Baptist. He married Opal Mariah in 1958 at California. She died in 1989. He was preceded in death by a son, Randall Thomas, in 1973. Survivors include his wife, Murrel D. Jones; two stepsons, Danny N. Sessums of Port Arthur and Ronald H. Mr. Warren earned a master's degree in civil engineering from El Paso College of Mines. He was employed for 35 years as a construction superintendent. He attended First Baptist Church in Farwell. He was a local inventor and charter member of the Amarillo Inventors Association, of which he served as president for seven years. Mr. Hefley was the legislative liaison for the Amarillo Inventors. He was a member of the Central Church of Christ. He married Pauline in 1954 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jodi Robins of Amarillo and Alexis Hefley of Dallas; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil, in 1968. She moved to Crowell in 1984 and was a member of Faith Bible Baptist Church. She married Billy Gene Whitley in 1947 at Amarillo. Bobby Gilstrap, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fort Sill Cemetery by Robbins Funeral Home of Fletcher. Mrs. Paul was born in Faxon and moved to Archer City, Texas, when she was 5. When she was 14, she moved to Lawton. She had lived in Fletcher since 1979. After her marriage, Mrs. Paul lived in Fort Campbell, Ky., Fort Sill, Chickasha, Verden, Germany, Boyd, Texas, and Broxton. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star in Lawton. She married Calvin Paul in 1940 at Lawton. He died in 1994.
