She graduated from Quail High School in 1945. She moved to Memphis in 1955. She was a homemaker and member of First Christian Church. She married Richard Liner in 1959 at Memphis. She moved from Kentucky to Chillicothe in 1912. She moved to Bailey County in 1934 from Chillicothe. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She married O.W. Marlow in 1926 at Chillicothe. She married Charlie Miller in 1977 at Wildorado. He died in 1982. He had been a resident of Dumas since 1950. He retired from Cominco American. He was a field superintendent for Bison Petroleum until retiring in 1988. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a first commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9022 and a member of the American Legion. He was a longtime member of Knights of Columbus and a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Mr. Roberts married Mary Vobruba in 1951 at Beaver County, Okla. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Teresa Roberts Kollman, in 1994. Robert Kenneth Love Sr. PLAINVIEW - Robert Kenneth "Dude" Love Sr., 83, died Sunday, March 22, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Wood-Dunning Funeral Home Colonial Chapel with the Rev. A.C. Hamilton, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Love was born in Jack County. He lived in Childress, where he worked for the Childress Cotton Oil Mill. He was a cowboy on the Buckle L Ranch and a post engineer for the Childress Air Force Base. He also worked for Panhandle Steel in Amarillo. He moved from Childress to Plainview in 1955. Mr. Love was a carpenter. He and his brother owned Love Brothers Building Contractors. They built Methodist Hospital in Plainview. Mr. Love married Bonnie Fae Whitley in 1933 at Childress. Survivors include his wife; five sons, Robert Love of Clovis, N.M., Wayne Love of Childress, Tommy Love of Georgetown, Donald Love of Lubbock and Sammy Love of Amarillo; two daughters, Dorothy Mikeal of Iowa Park and Loretta Couch of Dumas; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a greatgreat-grandchild. She was a longtime resident of the Bridle Bit, Turkey and Quitaque communities. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Wesleyan Service Guild and the Nuevo Study Club. She also was a member of Women Involved in Farm Economics and the American Agriculture Movement. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith as a young girl and later joined the United Methodist Church in Turkey. She was a member of the Quitaque United Methodist Church while living in that community. She married George Ray Colvin in 1934 at Turkey. He died in 1980. Survivors include four children, Rae Logan of Ingram, George "Bud" Colvin of Turkey, Etwoile "Tweedle" Hamilton of Westlake and Judy Morrison of Lubbock; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Oklahoma Velma Lorene Thompson Gooch HOOKER, Okla. - Velma Lorene Thompson Gooch, 75, died Sunday, March 22, 1998. Mrs. Gooch was born near Rolla, Kan. She grew up on the family homestead and graduated from Hugoton Rural High School in 1940. She married Lorenzo Dow "Ren" Gooch Jr. in 1940. He died in 1987. She was a member of First Christian Church at Hugoton, a charter member of the Hugoton Riding Club, Prairie Neighbors Unit, the 4-H Club and the Pitch Club. LeRoy Charles Davidson WAYNOKA, Okla. - LeRoy Charles Davidson, 73, died Saturday, March 21, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Church of God with the Rev. John Brint and Robert Boyle, pastor of Northside Church officiating. Burial will be in Waynoka Cemetery by Marshall Funeral Home. Masonic services will be by Waynoka Lodge No. 422. Mr. Davidson was born in Heman, where his family lived until 1933. He attended Chimney Creek School. His family moved by horse and wagon to Missouri, where he finished school. They moved back to Oklahoma in 1938. Mr. Davidson entered the Navy in 1943 and served until 1946. He served in New Hebrides, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, Pago Pago and Samoa. He returned to Pearl Harbor and then to Samoa. After serving in Pearl Harbor again, he served in Brisbane, Australia, New Guinea, Manus Island, the Philippine Islands, Luzon and Japan. Mr. Davidson worked for the Santa Fe Railway from 1947 to 1985. He lived in Waynoka, Canadian, Texas, and Amarillo. After retiring, he moved back to Waynoka. He was a member of the Church of God and Waynoka Masonic Lodge No. 422. He was a 32nd Degree member of the Guthrie Scottish Rite Consistory. Mr. Davidson married Bonnie Mae Miller in 1945 at Buffalo, Okla. She died in 1966. He married Verna Marie Morris Parker in 1967. He attended schools in Childress and Community Center. He graduated in 1941 as president of his senior class. He managed automobile dealerships in Childress, Dumas and Colorado Springs, Colo. He was named one of the outstanding sales managers in the nation by Ford Motor Co. in 1975. Mr. Andrews also owned and managed a furniture store in Dumas. After retiring from Heath Furniture, he and his wife were tour escorts for Trailways Tours for 10 years. While living in Dumas, Mr. Andrews was an elder and trustee for First Christian Church. He was a deacon and trustee for Westview Christian Church in Amarillo. He married Colleen Albritton in 1945 at Childress. Survivors include his wife; a son, Gary "Andy" Andrews of Cameron; two sisters, his twin, Kathleen Andrews, of Childress and Ernestine Hackler of Amarillo; three brothers, Myrl Andrews of Fort Worth, Howard Andrews of Childress and Clyde Andrews of Plainview; and three grandchildren. Interstate 40. Mrs. Coble was born in Trinidad, Colo. She moved to Amarillo in 1931 from Clayton, N.M. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Stephen's Methodist Church. She married Jess M. Coble in 1923 at Clayton. He died in 1979. She also was preceded in death by a son, Joe Bob Coble, in 1961; and by a daughter, Betty Evens, in 1991. Mrs. Coble had lived with her son and daughter-in-law, Clarence and Martha Coble, for the past 14 years. She worked for several years at the Casing Plant, which at one time was located in Portales. For several years, she worked as a cook at the Portales Headstart. She was a member of Cursillos and Guadalupanas at St. Helen Catholic Church. She married Pedro Gallegos Jr. in 1952 at Las Vegas, N.M. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter. He married Sally Chavez in 1955 at Clovis, where they made their home. Coy Wilson ELIDA, N.M. - Coy Wilson, 63, died Sunday, March 22, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Elida Baptist Church with the Rev. Herb Gage and Gary Good officiating. Burial will be in Kenna Cemetery by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Inc. Mr. Wilson was born in Clovis. When he was 10, his family moved from Albany, Texas, to Borger, Texas. As a teenager, he worked for the Bivins family, a large ranching family in the Texas Panhandle. In 1956, he was drafted into the Navy, serving for 18 months. After being discharged, he returned to the Borger area and again worked on a ranch owned by the Bivins family. He married Laura Jordon in 1957 at Durant, Okla. Mr. Wilson continued to work on various ranches in the Panhandle until 1962, when he moved to the Elida area. He began working for the SEA Cattle Co., west of Elida. Since 1980, he had been working for the Runnin' In Cattle Co. at Kenna. He was a member of the Elida Roping Club. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Tim Bob Wilson and Coy Wilson, both of Fort Sumner, Wade Jordon of Hobbs and Tommy Haley of Portales; a daughter, Shirley Bailey of Hobbs; a brother, Jack Wilson of Andrews, Texas; and six grandchildren. She died in 1984. Sylva Frances Slagle CLIFTON - Sylva Frances Slagle, 89, formerly of Amarillo, died Thursday, March 19, 1998. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo. Mrs. Giles was born in Glen Dean, Ky. She lived in Cottle County before moving to Olton in 1930. She was a member of Olton First Baptist Church and the Hi-Plains Ladies Golf Association. She was a past member of Chapter No. 847 of the Order of the Eastern Star. She married Henry Mathis in 1929. He died in 1967. She married Douglas Giles in 1972. He died in 1982. She also was preceded in death by a son, Billy Mathis, in 1992. Survivors include a son, Jerry Mathis of Hart; two daughters, Dorothy Williams of Mineral Wells and Nellie Fern Baker of Brandon; a brother, Willis Jolly of El Paso; three sisters, Mildred Reynolds and Sue Bennett, both of Amarillo, and Maxine Needham of Graham; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
