Hayes Lloyd P. Hayes, 78, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998. Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Friday in Llano Cemetery. Memorial services were at 11 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Chester O'Brien of the church officiating. Arrangements were by Schooler Funeral Home Inc., 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Hayes was born in Deport. He graduated from Baylor University. He served as a first lieutenant from 1940 to 1945 in the Army Air Corps in the training command throughout the United States. He began working in the real estate and insurance businesses in 1954. He was a member of Kiwanis Club of Amarillo South and helped organize the Bible Reading Marathon. He also organized Kiwanians reading to children at Opportunity School. He was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon from 1945 to 1992 and also was a Sunday school teacher. Mr. Hayes became a Meals On Wheels volunteer driver in 1975 and was elected president of its board of trustees in 1991. He also was a volunteer for Big Brothers. He also was a member of the education committee for the chamber of commerce. He married Kathryn Anderson in 1942 at Boise, Idaho. He and his wife established the Lloyd and Kathryn Scholarship Fund through the Amarillo Area Foundation for the top 2 percent of graduating seniors in the Amarillo Independent School District. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Cynthia Hall of Clarendon; a son, David Hayes of Half Moon Bay, Calif.; his stepmother, Mrs. L.E. Hayes of Paris, Texas; a brother, Loy Estel Hayes of Fort Worth; and six grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Meals on Wheels or the Gideons. Eusebio San Miguel Eusebio "San" San Miguel, 55, of Amarillo, was found in his home Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First Assembly of God Church in Dumas with the Rev. H.L. Stevens, retired pastor of First Assembly of God Church of Dumas, and the Rev. Jerry Trammell, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mr. San Miguel was born in Laredo. He moved to Amarillo 20 years ago from Dumas, where he was a longtime resident. He was an electrician. He served with the Army Green Berets in Vietnam. Survivors include a daughter, Kelly Meredith of Amarillo; a son, Bret San Miguel of Dumas; five brothers, Juan San Miguel of Amarillo, Jimmy San Miguel and Sammy San Miguel, both of West Virginia, and Steve San Miguel and Rick San Miguel, both of Dumas; four sisters, Julia Phillips, Raquel San Miguel and Stella San Miguel, all of Amarillo, and Aurora Carbajal of Dumas; and five grandchildren. The family will be at 513 Belmont in Dumas. Fred George Brockmeyer Jr. Fred George Brockmeyer Jr., 74, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998. Entombment will be in Llano Mausoleum. Mr. Brockmeyer was born in Birmingham, Ala. He moved to Amarillo in 1952 from Atlanta. He worked for several years at Bell Helicopter. He served with the Army and Naval Air Corps during World War II. He was the owner of Amarillo Orthopedic Appliances. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Mr. Brockmeyer married his wife, Thelma, in 1946 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steve Brockmeyer of Amarillo and Bob Brockmeyer of Silverthorne, Colo.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Phillips, interim pastor of Lincoln Street Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart. Mr. Brady was born in Dumas and raised in Dalhart. He moved to Dallas in 1996 prior to moving to Amarillo. He was a freshman at Tascosa High School where he played football. Mr. Brady was a former member of the Dalhart Boy Scouts and Dallam County 4-H. He is preceded in death by his father, Guy Brady Watson, in 1986. Survivors include his mother, Teri Wilkerson of Amarillo; grandparents, Mary Trevino of Garland, Willie Trevino of Dumas and Mr. and Mrs. David Stevenson of Dalhart; and his great-grandmother, Martha Stevenson of Dumas. Cedric W. Gragg Cedric W. Gragg, 85, of Amarillo, died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m Monday in the First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Murray Gossett, pastor, and Dr. Gordon Smith of Austin officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Gragg was born in Guadalupe County, N.M. He received his electrical engineering degree from Texas Tech University in 1938. After his graduation, he was employed by the Panama Canal Division of the U.S. Corps of Engineers at Peter Miguel. After his discharge from the Army, he was employed by Southwestern Public Service as manager of transmission and distribution design. He retired in 1977. Mr. Gragg's professional affiliations and honors included membership in Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, where he was a past president; and the Texas Society of Professional Engineers. He had been a Panhandle chapter of TSPE Engineer of the Year. In 1988, he was elected to the Texas Tech University Electrical Engineering Academy. He was selected as the American Business Women's "Boss of the Year" for 1963-64. Mr. Gragg's community involvement included serving as a Boy Scout leader from 1945 until 1952. He was a member and elder of First Presbyterian Church and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, York Rite, Red Cross of Constantine, and Knight Templar, Khiva Temple. Survivors include his wife, Roberta Hunt Gragg; two daughters, Glynda Samford of Gallup, N.M., and Vicki Fuentes of Richardson; a sister, Geraldine Hart of Arlington; and three grandsons. James Martindale, retired, officiating. Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Johnson had lived in Collingsworth County since 1911. He worked as a farmer and rancher all of his life. He married Rose Bell Peggram in 1926 at Wellington. She died in 1993. Survivors include two sons, Clifford Johnson of Amarillo and Wayne Johnson of Shamrock; a daughter, Alice Moore of Hereford; a grandson; and two greatgrandchildren. Mrs. Miller was born in Miami County. She attended college in Kansas. She moved to Lockney from Altus, Ark., in 1927. She married Samuel Gilbert Miller in 1921 at Hanna, Okla. They owned and operated Lockney Drug Store for 30 years. Mr. Miller died in 1953. She also was preceded in death by a son, Maurice Robert Miller, in 1988. Mrs. Miller was a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star Lodge No. 31. She was the oldest living member of First United Methodist Church in Lockney. Survivors include two grandchildren, Maurice Robert "Bob" Miller Jr. of Dumas and Debra Karis of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and two great-grandchildren. She was the assistant manager of the LA Motel in Claude for several years before retiring. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Maulden Club and First United Methodist Church. She married Clifton Nelson Bell in 1924 at Vega. He died in 1965. Survivors include a son, Leroy Nelson Bell of Amarillo; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Bertie Webb PLAINVIEW - Bertie Webb, 92, of Montrose, Colo., formerly of Plainview, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 1998. Graveside services were at 11 a.m. Saturday in Parklawn Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor of College Heights Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Webb was born in Wolfe City, Hunt County. She lived in Plainview from 1944 to 1985. She moved to Montrose in 1985. She married Carl Webb in 1926 at Springlake. He died in 1985. She had been a member of College Heights Baptist Church since 1944. Survivors include three sons, Marcine Webb of Ouray, Colo., J.C. Webb of Amenia, N.Y., and Tommy Joe Webb of Bensen, Ariz.; two brothers, Ray Baker of Hobbs, N.M., and Otis Baker of San Jose, Calif.; a sister, Wanda Carter of Clovis, N.M.; 10 grandchildren; 14 greatgrandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Georgia St., in Amarillo. Mr. Adcox was born in Lakeview. He served with the cavalry during World War II. He worked for many years for Rock Island Railroad. After retiring, he worked for several restaurants in Groom. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Groom. He attended Calvary Assembly of God Church in Pampa. Mr. Adcox was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Adcox, in 1983. He married Loraine Ingram in 1985 at Pampa. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Vonnie Barker of Groom and Billie J. Wade Hampton Parsley GUYMON, Okla. - Wade Hampton Parsley, 89, died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Elmhurst Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Hugghins, music minister of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Henson-Novak Funeral Directors. Mr. Parsley was born in Waldo, Ark. He moved to Guymon from St. Louis in 1955. He was a World War II veteran having served in the Coast Guard from 1941 until 1945. Mr. Parsley was employed as a sales representative for Nall Tire Co. prior to employment by Adams Hardfacing for more than 11 years. He retired in 1976. He was a member of First Baptist Church and the Guymon Lodge, No. 335 AF&AM. He married Rita Davidson in 1945 at Seattle. She died in 1988. Survivors include a sister, Jean Jones of Little Rock, Ark.; a brother, P.W."George" Parsley of Anaheim, Calif.; and a special friend, Dick Jackson of Guymon. Mrs. Reynolds was born in Arkansas and had lived in Donley County most of her life. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Martin Quilting Club and Martin Baptist Church. She married Henry Clarence Reynolds in 1936 at Pampa. He preceded her in death in 1973. Survivors include a son, Steve Reynolds of Clarendon; two sisters, Oleta Moffett of Clarendon and Otha Eddleman of Claude; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Fesler was born in Chautaque County, Kan., and had lived in Dumas since 1937. He retired as head foreman from American Zinc in 1971 when it closed. He was a member of North Plains Christian Church. He married Alma Brown in 1938 at Dumas. She preceded him in death in 1980. Survivors include two daughters, Christine Owens of Dumas and Maxine Chadwick of Garland; a son, Bill Fesler of Lampasas; 12 grandchildren; 20 greatgrandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter. The family will be at 1006 E. Eighth. Clint Felix Honnol HEREFORD - Clint Felix Honnol, 92, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. in Kings Manor Lamar Room with the Rev. Marty Hamrick, associate pastor of Post United Methodist Church, officiating. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood. Arrangements are by Rix Funeral Directors of Hereford. Mr. Honnol was born in Claude. He moved to Brownwood in 1920 where he attended high school. He trained as a linotype operator in New Orleans. He had been employed by various newspapers for more than 50 years. He moved to Hereford in 1992. Mr. Honnol was a charter member of the Central United Methodist Church in Brownwood and served on the board of stewards. He was secretary of the United Methodist Men's Fellowship and a member of the Friendly Fellows Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Lions Club in Early and the Brownwood Historical Society. He married Ethel Davis in 1928. Survivors include his wife; a son, Clint B. Honnol of Amarillo; a daughter, Nancy Ferguson of Albuquerque, N.M.; two grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. L.F. Jones MEMPHIS - L.F. "Chuck" Jones, 76, died Saturday, Jan. 24, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. O.K. Bowen, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Spicer Funeral Home. Mr. Jones was born in Memphis. He served in the Army in Hawaii during World War II. He attended North Texas State University and Howard Payne College. He was former director for the Memphis Housing Authority Board. He had been employed by General Telephone. Mr. Jones was a member of First Baptist Church, Memphis Lions Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Memphis Country Club. He married Louise Kilgore Gardner in 1947 at Memphis. Paul Burwash officiating. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home. Mrs. White was born in Menardville, Texas, and had spent most of her life in Clovis. She attended San Antonio Beauty School in San Antonio, Texas, and was a licensed beautician in Texas and New Mexico. She owned and operated Rose's Beauty Salon for 12 years before retiring in 1970. She attended First Baptist Church. She married Perry White in 1958. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Melvin Cruse of Albuquerque and Dean Cruse of Waldorf, Md.; two daughters, Paula Davison of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Easter King of Tupelo, Okla.; a sister, Hope Talley of Espanola; three brothers, J.R. Ethel Levno PORTALES, N.M. - Ethel Levno, 81, died Friday, Jan. 23, 1998, at Lubbock, Texas. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Wheeler Chapel, Wheeler Mortuary of Portales, Inc., with Dr. Herbert Bergstrom officiating. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery. Mrs. Levno was born in Arch and grew up in the Portales area. She had lived in Clovis until moving to Cottonwood, Ariz., in 1978. She had been employed as a nurse's aide in hospitals in Portales, Clovis and Arizona. Mrs. Levno had been a member of the First Baptist Church in Portales and the First Baptist Church in Cottonwood. She married Emerson Vick in 1931. In 1961, she married Otho Beck who died in 1977. She married Stan Levno in 1986 at Cottonwood. He died in 1994. Emery Franklin Artman CLOVIS, N.M. - Emery Franklin Artman, 100, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998. Mr. Artman was born in Ray County, Mo., and moved to Clovis in 1930. He retired in 1962 as signal supervisor for Santa Fe Railway. He married Teola Baird in 1923. She died in 1995. He owned Grants Barber Shop in Melrose. He moved to Clovis in 1954 where he coowned Grants Barber Shop with his brother until his retirement in 1991. He was a member of Bible Missionary Church. He married Minnie Gladys Burch in 1924 at Clovis. Canyon Evelyn Mae Glover Evelyn Mae Glover, 76, of Canyon, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 1998. She married Boyd Glover in 1942 at Lubbock. She was elected queen of the Michigan Christian College Fall Festival in 1967. Mrs. Glover was an executive secretary for Jane King with Randall County for 10 years. She was a member of University Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by an infant son. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Florida National Cemetery by Dundee-Haines City Funeral Home of Dundee, Fla. Mr. Maxwell was born and raised in Amarillo. He served in the armed forces. He had been employed by the Amarillo Police department and the Texas Highway patrol. Mr. Maxwell was a building contractor in the 1950s and '60s in the Amarillo and Dumas areas. He was owner of Maxwell Construction. He moved to Haines City from Kissimmee, Fla., three years ago. He was a member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Winter Haven and American Legion Post 34 in Haines City. He was preceded in death by a son, Gregory Maxwell, in 1976. Survivors include his wife, Betty I. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon by Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock. Mrs. Hutton was born in Burlington, Okla., and was raised in Dumas. She farmed in the Wayside area and lived in Canyon for 45 years before moving to Lubbock in 1991. She was a Methodist. She married Emmitt Otis Hutton in 1938 at Dumas. He died in 1965. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Gladys Cordes. Survivors include three daughters, Fay Nagonski of Honolulu, Jo Raines of Levelland and Donna Davidson of Lubbock; five sons, Edgar of Anchorage, Alaska, LeRoy of Canyon, A.D. of Hereford, Marvin of Lufkin and Robert of Amarillo; two sisters, Margaret Rodgers of Amarillo and Viola Castle of Grand Junction, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; and 17 greatgrandchildren.
