Mrs. Easton was born in Alva, Okla., and moved to Amarillo in 1917. She moved to California in 1935 and to Yucca Valley in 1978. A homemaker, she helped her husband with his fishing business in Newport Beach, Calif., and Monterey, Calif. Mrs. Easton was a Copperette at the Copper Mountain Mesa Community Association and a member of the Yucca Valley Gem and Mineral Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl W. Easton. Survivors include two sons, Robert Randall of Yucca Valley and Lloyd Randall of Bakersfield, Calif.; a brother, Walter Simon of Tulia; a sister, Rose Hill of La Crescenta, Calif.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Fred Gene Gallegos Fred Gene Gallegos, infant son of Michelle Jean Gallegos of Amarillo, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998. Roy A. Fultz Sr. Roy A. Fultz Sr., 86, a former Dumas resident, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998, in Albuquerque, N.M. Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Amarillo with the Rev. Richard Sculley, pastor of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church of Dumas, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Fultz was born in Mobeetie. He had lived in the Phillips and Borger areas for 40 years where he was employed by Phillips Petroleum Co. Refinery. He had lived in Dumas for 17 years and moved to Albuquerque five months ago. He was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church. He married Nellie B. Fultz in 1933 at Pampa. He was preceded in death by his wife in April and by a son, Roy Fultz, in 1997. Survivors include two sons, John Fultz of Aurora, Colo., and Ed Fultz of Albuquerque; a daughter, Margaret Lynch of Garland; eight grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; and nine great-greatgrandchildren. The family will receive friends after the funeral at the Ambassador Hotel, 3100 W. Interstate 40 in Amarillo. Lucy Abney Lucy Abney, 81, of Amarillo, died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998. She was a Methodist. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joe Norman, in 1963 and by her second husband in 1988. Survivors include two daughters, Suzanne Fenberg and Barbara McConnell, both of Amarillo; a sister, Helen Denton of Jenks, Okla.; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. New Mexico Mae McGregor CLOVIS, N.M. - Mae McGregor, 86, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 1998. Muriel Kincheloe CLAYTON, N.M. - Muriel Kincheloe, 84, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Rammage, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. CST Tuesday in Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart, Kan., by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton. Mrs. Kincheloe was born in Larned, Kan., and married Jim Kincheloe in 1934 at Richfield, Kan. They homesteaded in Torrence County in 1934, then moved to Boise City, Okla., in 1941. They farmed and ranched in the Sedan area from 1948 until 1964 when they moved to Clayton. With her husband, Mrs. Kincheloe operated the Kincheloe Health Salon in Clayton for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1997 and a daughter, Muriel Maureen Viola Kincheloe, in 1939. Survivors include two daughters, Zoe Kenemore of Dumas and Jimmie Lorraine "Diamond" Brown of Phoenix; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and great-greatgrandchildren. For many years, he was employed by the Ford Motor Company. He retired from the Tucumcari Broom Factory. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Lucy; a son, Louie Salas of Tucumcari; a brother, Eloy Salas of Amarillo; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She attended Parkland Baptist Church. She married Joe A. King 46 years ago. Mrs. Neel was born in Perryton, Texas and was a longtime Guymon resident. She retired as Deputy County Clerk and was a member of Church of Christ in Guymon. She married Vernon O. Area Roy Howard Blackman SPEARMAN - Roy Howard Blackman, 91, died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998. Services were at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Robertson Funeral Directors Chapel of Memories with Don Stone, Church of Christ minister from Clarendon, officiating. Burial was in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon. Mr. Blackman was born in Memphis and was a resident of Clarendon. He moved to Spearman six years ago. In 1985, he retired after 50 years of farming in the Chamberlain community. He was a member of Clarendon Church of Christ, Clarendon Masonic Lodge No. 700 and was a 50-year Mason. He married Ruby Ila Bogard in 1928 at Clarendon. She died in 1988. Mrs. Tilson was born in Fannin County and had been a Hutchinson County resident since 1944. She was a homemaker and member of the United Pentecostal Church where she served as church secretary and member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She married Roy Tilson in 1927 at Honey Grove. He died in 1983. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery. Mr. Coronado was born in Santa Fe Del Pino, Mexico, and moved to Hereford in 1946. He retired after 30 years as a trackman for Santa Fe Railroad and was a member of Iglesia Baptisto Church in Hereford. He married Raquel Valdez in 1937 at Ballinger. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Noe Coronado and Isreal Coronado, both of Hereford, Miguel Coronado of Mesquite and Ernesto Coronado of Amarillo; four daughters, Lidia Aguirre and Irma Elizondo, both of Hereford, and Rosa Martinez and Juliet Gonzales, both of Houston; a sister, Elenor Romo of Houston; 20 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild. LaJuan N. Stegall STINNETT - LaJuan N. Stegall, 58, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 1998. Mrs. Stegall was born in Quanah and had been an area resident for 55 years. She was founder of C&C Roustabout and served as secretary of that company. She was secretary and member of Buttercup, member of Ladies Auxiliary of Chamber of Commerce of Borger and was a Baptist. She married Doyal Stegall in 1969 at Panhandle. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Eddie Meadows of Texas City, Master Sgt. John Meadows of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Cory Meadows of Stinnett; two daughters, Becky Ford of San Antonio and Lena Burritt of Fritch; her parents, John Whitfield of Amarillo and Dorothy McClellan of Fritch; a brother, Odis McClellan of Borger; a sister, Sharee Thieleman of Cape Coral, Fla.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Price-Jackson Funeral Home. Mrs. Dunham was born in Vivian. She was a Quanah resident for most of her life and moved to Carrollton five years ago. She was a retired salesperson and homemaker. Mrs. Dunham was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was married to Hubert Bird Dunham in 1925 at Quanah. He preceded her in death in 1959. Survivors include her sister, Dora B. Sanders of Fort Worth; and nieces and nephews. Doris Lucille Lawlis BOVINA - Doris Lucille Lawlis, 79, of Lubbock, died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church in Bovina with the Rev. Gary Morgan, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Bovina Cemetery by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home of Friona. Mrs. Lawlis was born in Bowie and had lived in Bovina since 1953. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bovina where she served as Women's Missionary Union director, church librarian and directed Girls' Auxiliary. She was chairman of the Llanos Associational WMU. Since 1953, Mrs. Lawlis was a member of Bovina Women's Club and served as president for two years. She served in a variety of capacities in Caprock District TWFC. She moved to Lubbock three years ago. She married Ovid Lawlis in 1938 at Hamlin. Survivors include her husband; two sons, James Lawlis of Amarillo and David Lawlis of Euless; a brother, James Steed of Dallas; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Guy Smith TULIA - Guy Smith, 64, died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mr. Smith was born in Borger and attended school in Tulia where he graduated from high school in 1952. He was a veteran of the Navy. Since 1986, he owned Shirley's Cleaners in Tulia. He was a member of the American Legion and a Methodist. He married Shirley Kitchens in 1980 at Plainview. For 50 years, he was a grocer in Wellington and Pampa. He was a member of Central Baptist Church. He married Effie Wright in 1934 at Wellington. She preceded him in death in 1990. Survivors include a daughter, June Ann Green of Ada, Okla.; a son, Joe A. Thompson of Pampa; three sisters, Ruth McCann of Belton, Marie Frith of Vernon and Louella Thompson of Irving; two brothers, Paul Thompson of Stinnett and Tommy Thompson of Weatherford; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Don Gensman DARROUZETT - Don Gensman, 71, died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Darrouzett School Auditorium with the Rev. Billy Wilson, the Rev. Don Travis and the Rev. Scott Richards officiating. Burial will be in Darrouzett Cemetery by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker. Mr. Gensman was born in Beaver County, Okla., where he attended North Fork Country School. Following his graduation from Darrouzett High School, he continued to work on the family farm. After his marriage, he moved from Beaver County to Ottawa, Kan., then returned to Lipscomb County until 1954. Mr. Gensman lived in Oklahoma and Texas until moving to Darrouzett in 1961. He farmed, ranched and operated his own custom harvesting business. He operated the Darrouzett Corner Drug store for several years. He was a member of the Methodist Church of Darrouzett. He married Irene Bechthold in 1946 at Lipscomb County. Survivors include his wife; a son, Dennis Kay Gensman of Altus, Okla.; five daughters, Donita Davis of Panhandle, Judy Hudson and Jean Lewis, both of Darrouzett, and Joyce Baker and Jackie Bowling, both of Follett; a sister, Laurene Stevenson of Owasso, Okla.; 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Ray Miller BORGER - Ray Miller, 82, died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church of Borger with Dr. David Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Devotion of Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mr. Miller was born in Temple, Okla., and had been an area resident since 1934 when he graduated from Canyon High School. He owned and operated Miller Machine and Welding. Mr. Miller was a member of the Isom Lodge No. 1242, the Borger Noon Lions Club, the Masons and First United Methodist Church. He was president of Lions Club and the Lions Club Eye Bank. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lue, in 1991. Survivors include a son, Bill Miller of Houston; two stepsons, John Ratje of Safford, Ariz., and Jim Ratje of Las Cruces, N.M.; a daughter, Janice Miller Hamm of Amarillo; three stepdaughters, Marcia Wolf of Dallas, Jenny Kelly of Dallas and Mary Kay Powell of El Paso; 17 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. King Fike DALHART - King Fike, 95, died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Taylor, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home. Mr. Fike was born in Brookside, W.Va., and raised on a farm in Preston County, W.Va. He attended schools in Delaware and high school in Aurora. He attended college at Potomac State and West Virginia Law School. After law school, Mr. Fike moved to Stratford where he joined R.E. Stalcup in his law firm. He later opened his own practice. In 1982, he was honored for practicing 50 years of law. Mr. Fike was active in the Dalhart community and had served as district attorney for the 69th District, was Hartley County attorney and attorney for the Coon Trust for more than 23 years. He was a charter member of the Dalhart Country Club and past boss lion for the Dalhart Lions Club. He married Marguerite King in 1933. She preceded him in death in 1993. Survivors include three daughters, Madeline Combs of Garland, Marian Matthews of Roswell, N.M., and Margaret Enns of Dalhart; a son, Steven Fike of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren; and a greatgranddaughter. The family suggests memorials be to Senior Citizens Center or the DallamHartley Counties Historical Society. Vernon Gustin DALHART - Vernon Gustin, 89, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home of Dalhart. Mr. Gustin was born in Galatia, Kan., and moved to Dalhart in 1923. He grew up in the Rhem community where he later farmed and raised cattle. He was a member of the Central United Methodist Church, served on the school board and the Hartley County ASC board for four years. He moved to Dalhart less than a year ago. He married Lucille Dulaney in 1931 at Boise City, Okla. Survivors include his wife; two sons, James and Jerry Gustin of Dalhart; a daughter, Norma Gustin Rose of Levelland; five grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren. Elsewhere Estaline Middlebrook Knox JACKSBORO - Estaline Middlebrook Knox, 81, of Chico and a former resident of Amarillo, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Coker Funeral Home Chapel in Jacksboro with the Rev. Charles A. Cox officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Mrs. Knox was born in Jack County. She retired as cafeteria manager for the Amarillo Independent School District. She was a member of Morris Memorial Methodist Church. She married Horace Knox in 1942 at Norfolk, Va. He preceded her in death in 1997. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Wilson of Arlington; a son, Arnold Knox of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a sister, Bernie Pruitt of Jacksboro; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Phil Sterrett ABERNATHY - Phil Sterrett, 85, of Midland, died Thursday, Oct. 22, 1998. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in Abernathy Cemetery with the Rev. Fane Downs, pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church of Midland, officiating. Memorial services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Trinity Presbyterian Church in Midland with the Rev. Fane Downs and the Rev. Mary Beth Anton officiating. Arrangements are by Abell Funeral Home of Abernathy. Mr. Sterrett was born near Abernathy and was a 1932 graduate of Abernathy High School. He graduated in 1938 with a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering from Texas Tech University where he was in the Tech band. In 1939, he moved to Abernathy where he was employed by Southwestern Public Service Co. until 1943 when he transferred to SPS in Plainview. In 1944, Mr. Sterrett transferred to Clovis, then returned to Abernathy in 1952. He moved to Amarillo in 1961 then moved to Midland in 1988. He was a member of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers and the Texas Society of Professional Engineers. Mr. Sterrett was active in the Presbyterian Church where he taught Sunday school, was a member of the choir and Men's Association and was an elder. He served in the National Guard. He was a member of Lions Club and the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America. He was a volunteer for the hospital auxiliary, Meals on Wheels and the Boy Scouts where he was a member of the Order of the Arrow. Mr. Sterrett served on the board for Caprock Girl Scout Council and was development chairman for Camp Rio Blanco. He was a 32nd degree and Master Mason, a Shriner, a member of the Khiva Temple and Knights Templar. He married Grace Katherine "Kay" Rea in 1939 at Lubbock. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Bill Sterrett of Farmers Branch, Tom Sterrett of Richardson and David Sterrett of Austin; a daughter, Betty Ann Prentice of Midland; a stepdaughter, Chris Gasser of Arvada, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. "Jay" Maritt, 72, died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. John Donnerberg, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. Monday in Roaring Springs Cemetery. Arrangements are by White Funeral Home of Lubbock. Mr. Maritt was born in Amarillo and attended school in Roaring Springs. He was a veteran of the Navy. For several years, he owned grocery stores in Lazbuddie and Afton. In 1978, Mr. Maritt moved to Lubbock from Lazbuddie. He attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Lubbock. He married Edna Cochran in 1986 at Plainview. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jama Mays Maritt of Hobbs, N.M.; a stepdaughter, Carol Seago of Little Rock, Ark.; a stepson, David Cochran of Plainview; two brothers, Ben Dillard of Roaring Springs and Bill Dillard of Hale Center; a sister, Dean Gunstream of Ruidoso, N.M.; and six grandchildren.
