Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Llano East Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Field, pastor of Southeast Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Herren was born in Warsaw, Ill., and had lived in Amarillo since 1972. He was retired from Iowa Beef Processors. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, in 1990. Survivors include a stepdaughter, Wanda Berry of Amarillo; four brothers, Ralph Herren, Albert Herren and Robert Herren, all of Canton, Mo., and Eilert Herren of Edina, Mo.; seven sisters, Sophia Weerts of Quincy, Ill., Ruth Flesner and Martha Flesner, both of Golden, Ill., Ilene Shannon of LaGrange, Mo., Evelyn Hedgus of Aeokuk, Iowa, Edna Solter of Canton and Mary Warning of Deer Ridge, Tenn.; and two grandsons. Pauline Phipps Pauline Phipps, 74, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in San Jacinto Baptist Church with Dr. Stan Coffey of the church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mrs. Phipps was born in McCurtain County, Okla., and had lived in Amarillo for most of her life. She was a homemaker and an active member of San Jacinto Baptist Church. For 22 years, she was the church wedding coordinator and the bride's room is named for her. Mrs. Phipps previously served as church hostess at San Jacinto United Methodist Church and Polk Street United Methodist Church as well as San Jacinto Baptist Church. She was a member of Texaco Wives Club and helped with City Church Mission. She married Herman Phipps in 1941 at Amarillo. He preceded her in death in 1995. She also was preceded in death by a son, Frankie Roy Phipps. Survivors include a daughter, Mary A. Forrester of Cleburne; a son, H. Samuel Phipps of Dubuque, Iowa; three stepdaughters, Nadine Chance, Julie Hart and Barbara Chance, all of Amarillo; a stepson, Dickie Ray Phipps of Amarillo; two sisters, Rachel Wedding and Nadine LeClert, both of Phoenix; a brother, R.C. George Allen George Allen, 78, of Amarillo, died Friday, Aug. 21, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m Thursday in New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. David Hill Sr., pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by WarfordWalker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes. Mr. Allen was born in Paris, Texas, and moved to Amarillo in 1930. He was a Navy veteran who served in World War II from 1943 until 1945. Mr. Allen was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone from 1953 until 1968. From 1974 until his retirement in 1985, he was employed by the Amarillo Globe-News. He married Lillie Holmes in 1953. Survivors include a daughter, Therena B. Guillory of Beaumont; three sons, Jimmy L. Allen of San Antonio, Cedric Holmes of Beaumont and Billy G. Allen of Stockton, Calif.; a sister, Lillie Mae Anderson of Los Angeles; two brothers, Fred D. Allen of Amarillo and Clydell Allen of Fort Worth; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family will be at 900 N. Hughes St. New Mexico Dorothy Dana Davison Hubbard LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Dorothy Dana Davison Hubbard, 93, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church at Portales with Dr. Herbert Bergstrom, Mike Kull and Dr. Claude Cone officiating. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Inc. Mrs. Hubbard was born in Zincite, Mo. She taught school in Boise City, Okla., before moving to Portales in 1926. She married Walker Hubbard in 1926. They were the administrators of the Baptist Children's Home at Portales from 1936 until 1971. From 1954 until 1971, they also served as administrators of New Mexico Boys Ranch near Belen. She did public speaking and letter writing in support of both organizations. Mr. Hubbard died in 1977. After his death, she moved to Belen, where she lived for 15 years before moving to Las Cruces in 1998. She taught Sunday school at First Baptist Church of Portales for more than 30 years and was active in the Portales Garden Club. Survivors include four children, Marvin Dale Hubbard of Agoura, Calif., Lee S. Hubbard of Las Cruces, Allan Dale Hubbard of Albuquerque and Bess Whitmore of Spirit Lake, Iowa; two sisters, Lucille O'Hara of Las Cruces and Margaret Linton of Batavia, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the New Mexico Baptist Children's Home or the New Mexico Boys and Girls Ranches in her memory. E.D. Burnett PORTALES, N.M. - E.D. Burnett, 76, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 1998. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. today in Southside Church of Christ with Frank Poynor officiating. Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Inc. Mr. Burnett was born in Elmer, Okla., and was raised on a farm near Elmer. He worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps and in 1942 entered the Navy, serving three years during World War II. After the war, he worked on construction jobs in the western half of New Mexico. In 1948, the family moved to a farm near Portales, where he farmed and ranched until his death. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9515 and Calvary Baptist Church. He married Virginia McVicker in 1943 at Pasadena, Calif. Survivors include his wife; a son, Dan Burnett of Sedro Woolley, Wash.; two daughters, Linda Seagraves of Socorro and Beverly Burnett of Houston; two sisters, his twin, Sue Thompson of Albuquerque and Patsy Burnett of Pandaray; and two granddaughters. Lillian Childress Foreman Rogers PORTALES, N.M. - Lillian Childress Foreman Rogers, 91, died Monday, Aug. 24, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Portales Cemetery with Scott P. Reeves officiating. Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Inc. Mrs. Rogers was born in Hunt County, Texas, and moved to Portales in 1921 with her grandparents. She attended Portales High School for two years before marrying Edgar Foreman, a pioneer of Roosevelt County. They were one of the first peanut growers in the area and also grew sweet potatoes. She and her husband also installed the first sprinkler system in the county. Mr. Foreman died in 1963. She married David A. Rogers, another New Mexico pioneer, in 1969. He died in 1994. She was active in community affairs and the Republican Party. In 1972, the Business and Professional Women's Club named her the Outstanding Member and Woman of the Year. She also was named the Roosevelt County Pioneer Woman of the Year in 1991. She attended Eastern New Mexico University 35 years after her high school graduation. She also was preceded in death by three stepsons, Roy Foreman, Loy Foreman and Jack Foreman. Survivors include three sons, Ed Foreman of Dallas, Harold "Chub" Foreman of Las Cruces and Gene Foreman of Portales; a stepdaughter, Capitola Tillery of Portales; 14 grandchildren; and 13 greatgrandchildren. The family requests memorials be the PRMCP Auxiliary Scholarship Fund, 2109 E. Second, Portales, NM 88130. Abbie Overstreet PORTALES, N.M. - Abbie Overstreet, 97, died Monday, Aug. 24, 1998. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Mount Zion Cemetery with Dr. Herbert Bergstrom officiating. Arrangements are by Wheeler Mortuary of Portales Inc. Mrs. Overstreet was born in Vera, Texas. She married Bill Overstreet in 1916 in Clovis. They moved to the Rogers community in the early 1920s. They lived in Texas a few years and moved to Roosevelt County around 1928, where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a cook at Mattie's Cafe in Portales for 19 years and later worked part-time at the Sands Restaurant. She was a member and a Sunday school teacher at First Baptist Church. Survivors include two sisters, Velma Rhyne and Willie Baker, both of Bowie, Texas; two granddaughters; four greatgrandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. Elsewhere Ambrosia Flores Onales WHITEFACE - Ambrosia Flores Onales, 91, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1998. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Primero Bautista Iglesia of Morton with the Rev. Raymond Asebedo, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Whiteface Cemetery in Whiteface by Ellis Funeral Home of Morton. Mrs. Onales was born in Candalaria. She was a homemaker and member of the Catholic Church. She married Luis Onales in 1924 at San Antonio. He preceded her in death. Survivors include five sons, Luis Onales, Ismeal Onales and Ignasio Onales, all of Morton, Juan Onales of San Angelo and Jesus Onales of Levelland; five daughters, Manuela Vajar of Hobbs, N.M., Maria Mendoza of Whiteface, Dora Robledo of Seminole, Ricarda Lopez of Pep, N.M., and Rita Guillian of Van Horn; a brother, Domingo Flores of Arizona; 84 grandchildren; 152 greatgrandchildren; and 36 great-greatgrandchildren. Canyon Gerald R. Warwick Gerald R. "Jerry" Warwick, 74, of Canyon, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church of Canyon with the Rev. Kevin Deckard, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mr. Warwick was born in Montezuma, Iowa, and had lived in Canyon since 1937. He served in World War II in the Navy. For 48 years, he owned Warwick Motor Service in Canyon. Mr. Warwick was a member of Scottish Rite, Khiva Shrine Temple and Provost Unit. He had been a member of the Canyon Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years and served as assistant chief for eight years. He served on the Canyon Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and First United Methodist Church. He married Juanita Foster in 1943 at El Centro, Calif. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Ann Warwick of Hereford and Sandra Leffler of Arlington; two sisters, Dorothy Haley of Canyon and Genaveve Epple of Fountain Valley, Calif.; a brother, Elston Kettles of Eldora, Iowa; and two grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Dreamland Cemetery, Box 38, Canyon, TX 79015. Area Lansin Harris Osborne WHITE DEER - Lansin Harris Osborne, 81, died Monday, Aug. 24, 1998. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Shamburger, pastor of First Baptist Church of Victoria, and the Rev. John Collis, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in White Deer Cemetery by CarmichaelWhatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Osborne was born in Gouldbusk and moved to White Deer in 1918. He served with the Army during World War II. In 1984, he retired after many years as a farmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Panhandle Masonic Lodge 1167 AF&AM and a past master of the White Deer Masonic Lodge. He married Evelyn Patterson in 1958 at Borger. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Harris Osborne of Midland and John Osborne of Menard; a sister, Evelyn Higgins of Round Rock; two brothers, Sam Osborne and Leon Osborne, both of White Deer; and four grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to White Deer Ambulance Service or First Baptist Church of White Deer. Elizabeth Renfro Cesar HEREFORD - Elizabeth Renfro Cesar, 83, died Monday, Aug. 24, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the First United Methodist Church with Dr. Tom Fuller officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Fredrick City Cemetery at Fredrick, Okla., by Parkside Chapel of Hereford. Mrs. Cesar was born in Tillman County, Okla., near Fredrick. She received her teaching certificate in 1933 from Cameron College at Lawton, Oka. She married Fain Cesar in 1933 at Fredrick. She moved to Dalhart in 1958 and to Hereford in 1970. He died in 1978. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and of several bridge clubs. Survivors include two daughters, Ann Hathaway of Midland and Jane Kistler of Edmond, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the First United Methodist Church; the Hereford Senior Citizens; or the American Heart Association. Ruby M. McNeal STRATFORD - Ruby M. McNeal, 86, died Saturday, Aug. 22, 1998, at Denver. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Morrison Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel at Dumas with the Rev. Jerry Stewart, pastor of First Baptist Church of Stratford, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Citizens Cemetery at Clarendon with the Rev. Truman Ledbetter, pastor of First Baptist Church of Clarendon, officiating. Mrs. McNeal was born in Lipan and lived in Stratford from 1948 until moving to Littleton, Colo., in 1993. She worked as a beautician and was an amateur artist. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She married Ray McNeal in 1964 at Dalhart. He died in 1980. Survivors include a son, Mike Neal of Abilene; a daughter, Rita Trimble of Littleton; seven grandchildren; and 10 greatgrandchildren. The family will be at the Dumas Inn Motel in Dumas. Mabel A. McAda PLAINVIEW - Mabel A. McAda, 97, died Monday, Aug. 24, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home Memorial Chapel at Floydada with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor of College Heights Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Floydada Cemetery at Floydada. Mrs. McAda was born in Telico. She attended school in Baylor and Jones Counties. She married A.O. McAda in 1920 at Haskell. They lived in Jones County until 1921 when they settled in Floyd County. She helped her husband with an ice plant business at Floydada and had previously run the Commercial Hotel Coffee Shop at Floydada. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1961 and by a son, Billie Ray McAda in 1947. Survivors include a son, Cecil B. McAda of Wichita Falls; four daughters, Ruth Ray and Loretta Cargill, both of Amarillo, LaJuana Cooper of Plainview and Barbara Jacobs of Massillon, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Hall was born in Maverick community in Runnels County. She attended schools in Maverick and Bronte and graduated from Bronte High School. She moved to Ballinger where she operated a beauty shop. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Halfway and a member of Titus and Fidelus Sunday School Class and the choir. She married Roy E. Hall in 1957 at Raton, N.M. Survivors include her husband; three sisters, Edna Florence and Mildred Lee, both of Ballinger, and Mattie McKay of Clyde; and two brothers, Jerry Landers and Marvin Landers, both of Bronte. Lydia J. Palmore PLAINVIEW - Lydia J. Palmore, 68, died Monday, Aug. 24, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Lemons Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Drew Travis, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Plainview, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery. Mrs. Palmore was born in Clarksville. In 1960, she married Robert H. Palmore at Mexico. He preceded her in death in 1993. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Sue Ballard of Plainview; two sons, Wilsey A. Powell of Bullhead City, Ariz., and Robert Wayne Palmore of Plainview; two brothers, Ray Washington of Dayton, Ore., and John Will Washington of Spokane, Wash.; a sister, Nell Nolan of Anton; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mary Jack Powell QUANAH - Mary Jack Powell, 81, of Abilene and a former Quanah resident, died Monday, Aug. 24, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Quanah Memorial Park Cemetery with Lyndal Werner, minister of Quanah Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are by Price-Jackson Funeral Home of Quanah. Mrs. Powell was born in Quanah where she graduated from high school in 1932. She graduated from Abilene Christian College, now Abilene Christian University, in 1936. Mrs. Powell was a homemaker who lived in Quanah until 1995 when she moved to Abilene. She was a member of the Church of Christ and the Daughters of American Revolution. She married Jack Henry Powell in 1939 at Quanah. He preceded her in death in 1994. Survivors include a son, John Powell of Abilene; a daughter, Sara Day of Austin; a sister, Charlexa Gililland of Garland; and two grandchildren. Delbert Austin FRITCH - Delbert "Red" Austin, 87, died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in First Southern Baptist Church of Fritch with the Rev. Leonard Forsythe, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Austin was a native of Robert Lee and a longtime resident of Fritch. He retired from J.M. Huber Corp., and was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Lona; five daughters, Neva Burris, Barbara Hardy, Rhonda Glover and Jackie Whatley, all of Fritch, and Karol Kinnamon of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two sisters, Merlene Bramlett of Oklahoma City and Callie Malone of Grapevine; 16 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
