Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Drew Travis, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mr. Wood was born in Oglesby, Ill., and moved to Plainview in 1925. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1941. He was an Air Corps veteran of World War II. He attended Texas Tech University and graduated from Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science in 1946. He became the owner of Roy G. Wood Funeral Home in 1947, changing the name to Wood-Dunning Funeral Home in 1961. He retired in 1994. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Plainview Country Club, Elks Lodge, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, Lions Club, IOOF Lodge, Texas Funeral Directors Association and National Funeral Directors Association. He had been a licensed mortician over 50 years. He married Martha Dell Stone in 1951 in Clovis, N.M. Survivors include his wife; a son, Bryan Wood of Plainview; a daughter, Bridget Kiser of Plainview; and three grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Children's Scottish Rite Hospital at Dallas. Amarillo Zola Poff Burton Zola Poff Burton, 98, of Amarillo, died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 Bell St., with James Willborn, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Tulia, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia. Mrs. Burton was born in Tulia where she was a lifelong resident. She graduated from Tulia High School. She was a homemaker and member of First United Methodist Church. She married John McCoy Burton in 1918 at Tulia. He died in 1985. Survivors include a son, Sterling M. Burton of Houston; a daughter, Lola Rae Lewis of Amarillo; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a greatgreat-grandchild. The family will be at 2605 S. Travis St. Motiben Bhula Patel Motiben Bhula Patel, 93, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Patel was born in Varad, India. She married Bhula Patel in 1925 in India. He died in 1981. She moved to Amarillo in 1983. Survivors include three sons, Naran Bhula of Amarillo and Ranchhod Patel and Manhar Patel, both of South Africa; two daughters, Sarawati Bhula of Amarillo and Mani Patel of California; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Cyril H. Hedrick Cyril H. Hedrick, 76, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Rector Funeral Home Chapel, 2800 S. Osage, with the Rev. George Haddox, pastor of Cliffside Baptist Church, officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Ural Cemetery at Elk City, Okla. Mr. Hedrick was born in Magazine, Ark., and moved to Elk City, Okla., in 1929. An Army veteran of World War II, he received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He married Wilma Garretson in 1948 at Sayre, Okla. They moved to Perryton in 1948, to Hartley in 1952 and to Vega in 1961. He worked for International Harvester in Hartley and Vega and was manager of the Sands-Best Western Hotel for several years. While living in Vega, he was a volunteer fireman, president of the Vega Kiwanis Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. They retuned to Elk City in 1987 and moved to Amarillo in 1993. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Shirley Conway of Amarillo; a son, Danny Luther Hedrick of Amarillo; three sisters: Priscilla Henthorn of Stroud, Okla., Vernoma Brannon of Quemando, N.M., and Reba Lamp of Fayetteville, Ark.; two brothers, Buford Taylor of Amarillo and Nova Hedrick of Lafayette, La.; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. The family will receive visitors at 1918 Aspen. Mr. Hedrick's family requests memorial donations be to Veteran's Affairs Medical Center or the American Diabetes Foundation. Vesta Mae Winters Vesta Mae Winters, 83, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40 with the Rev. J. Alan Ford of Southwest Baptist Church and Eddie Johnson, pastor of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Winters was born in Alfalfa County, Okla. She married Clarence Winters in 1933 at Alva, Okla. They moved to Amarillo in 1933. She was a homemaker and lived on the family farm southeast of Amarillo for 65 years. She was a member of the Friendship Club, had been a member of Buchanan Street Baptist Church for 54 years. At the time of her death she was a member of Southwest Baptist Church, Survivors include her husband; two sons, Richard Winters and Fred Winters, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Alma Osborn of Chanute, Kan., and Mable Cushenbury of Wichita, Kan.; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Faith City Mission or the Southwest Baptist Church Building Fund. Oklahoma Duane L. Boren GUYMON, Okla. - Duane L. Boren, 66, died Saturday, October 24, 1998. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in First Baptist Church with Chris Trent, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home. Mr. Boren was born and raised in Perryton, Texas. After graduation from Perryton High School in 1950, he served in the Air Force. He moved to Guymon in 1954. He retired in 1996 as chief of police. He was a 32nd degree Mason. He married Peggy Sharon Davis in 1964 at Clayton, N.M. Survivors include; his wife; his stepmother, Irene Boren of Guymon; a sister, Donna Davis of Perryton; and three brothers, Darrel Gene Cook of Albuquerque, N.M., Glen Boren of Corpus Christi and Jeff Boren of Moore, Okla. The family requests memorials be to Guymon Police Department c/o BunchRoberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942. Willie J. Terry GUYMON, Okla. - Willie J. "Granny" Terry, 102, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998, at Boise City. Private family services will be at 4 p.m. today in Cimarron Mortuary at Boise City with Frank Lynch officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. (MT) Tuesday in the Chapel of Memories Memorial Gardens at Colorado Springs, Colo. Mrs. Terry was born in Waxahachie, Texas. She moved with her family to Elmer when she was about four years old. She ran the Baker Hotel in Deming, N.M. She attended defense training at Randolph Field in Texas, where they sewed parachutes, airplane seat covers, etc. during World War II. She married Roy Terry in 1912. She lived in various places throughout her life including Roswell, N.M., until 1951, when she moved to Raton, N.M. She worked and lived in Cimarron, N.M. where she ran the Blue Moon Cafe. She also ran a cafe at Ute Park, N.M. She lived in Colorado Springs until returning to Raton in 1977. She moved to Boise City in 1997. She was a member of United Methodist Church at Raton. She was preceded in death by a son, James A. Terry and a daughter, Esta Faye Paulich. Survivors include a daughter, Hazel J. Reed of Boise City; a sister, Mackie Terry of Marlow, Okla.; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-greatgrandchildren. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity in care of the mortuary.
