Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dan Hawkins of First United Methodist Church of Tell officiating. Burial will be in Tell Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home of Childress. Mrs. Wygal was born in Fannin County. She was a longtime resident of Tell. She was a homemaker and cook for the Tell and Childress schools for several years. Survivors include her husband, Roy Wygal; and a brother, Joe M. "Bud" Keel of Pampa; and three generations of nieces and nephews. Alfonso Salcido Gomez STRATFORD - Alfonso Salcido Gomez, 59, died Friday, April 24, 1998 in Pasadena. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Stratford Cemetery with Lyle Jones, elder of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Gomez was born in Mulato, Chihuahua, Mexico. He had been a resident of Stratford since 1968. He was retired as a farmer. Survivors include five sons, Sammy Gomez, Chris Gomez and Alfonso Gomez Jr., all of Stratford, Obidio Gomez of Pasadena and Daniel Gomez of Borger; two daughters, Anna Estraca of Sapulpa, Okla., and Lora Arrazolos of Houston; three sisters, Lala Carrasco of Marfa, Esperanza Grado of Lubbock and Maria Gomez of Artesia, N.M.; and five grandchildren. The family will be at home two miles west on Highway 54. John S. Thompson FRIONA - John S. Thompson, 80, died Sunday, April 26, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with D.L. Harguess and the Rev. Waide Messer officiating. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home. Mr. Thompson was born in Gage, Okla., and had lived in Parmer County since 1942. He was a farmer and rancher. He married Maxine Wolfe in 1937 at Gage. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren in 1972 and 1973. Survivors include his wife; a son, Darell Thompson of Friona; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Amarillo Meredith Prien Meredith Prien, 63, of Amarillo, died Saturday, April 25, 1998. A private memorial will be today at 2923 N. Hill. Cremation arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Prien was born in Amarillo. She lived in Dallas for 15 years before returning to Amarillo. She was a marketing secretary for Nunn Electric and was employed at Amarillo College in Special Services. Mrs. Prien had been a model and poet. She received two gold awards and a silver for her poetry. Her work was published in several books. Survivors include her husband, Larry A. Prien; three daughters, Debra Saunders of Farmington, N.M., Gwen Wilson of Anna and Darla Lopez of Amarillo; three sons, Steven Thaxton of Dallas, David Emery of Aurora, Colo., and Tony Prien of Nashville, Tenn.; a sister, Rita Barcroft of Amarillo; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The body will not be available for viewing. Judy A. Bennett Judy A. Bennett, 52, of Amarillo, died Saturday, April 25, 1998. Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Blackburn-Shaw Memorial Chapel with Ronald Sumper, pastor of First Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Bennett was a lifelong resident of Amarillo. She graduated from Tascosa High School and attended Amarillo Junior College. She had been employed as a clerk for 34 years by the American Quarter Horse Association. She was a member of First Christian Church. She married David J. Bennett in 1974 at Clovis, N.M. Survivors include her husband; and two brothers, William E. Bates of Western Australia and James Bates of Amarillo. Lottie Vivian Buck Lottie Vivian Buck, 95, of Amarillo, died Sunday, April 26, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Bailey County Memorial Park Cemetery in Muleshoe. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers, 2820 Virginia Circle, Amarillo. Mrs. Buck was born in Montague and had lived in Amarillo since 1970. She was a homemaker and member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church. She married Euliss D. Buck who preceded her in death. She is survived by a daughter, Duease Bragg of Amarillo; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Canyon Henry Ismael Hill Dr. Henry Ismael Hill, 88, of Canyon, died Sunday, April 26, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church of Canyon with Dr. Charles Price, pastor, and the Rev. Gayle Bowen, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Holley Funeral Home, 11th St. and Hereford Highway, Canyon. Dr. Hill was born in Mississippi and moved north of Happy when he was 6 years old. He graduated from Canyon High School and, in 1931, from West Texas State Teachers College. He and his wife then taught at Fairview, a two teacher school near Claude. In 1935, he received his master's degree from the University of Colorado. He earned his Ph.D. from Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville while teaching in Lubbock. Dr. Hill was a teacher in Claude, Pampa, Beaumont and Lubbock. He also was principal and assistant superintendent during his career. He retired in 1970 and moved back to this area. He was a member of First Baptist Church, the Rotary and Canyon Retired Teachers. He married Stella Harden, a childhood neighbor from Mississippi and Happy, in 1930 at Canyon. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Hill Boyd, in 1988. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Merl Hill of Highway Lakes and Bob Hill of Canyon; three brothers, Elam Hill of Lubbock, Victor Hill of Canyon and Forest Hill of Amarillo; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The family request memorials be to the First Baptist Church in Canyon. Della Glenn Della Glenn, 81, of Canyon, died Sunday, April 26, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Assembly of God Church in Canyon with the Rev. Billy Nickell, pastor, and the Rev. Amos Williams, retired Nazarene minister, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Brothers Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mrs. Glenn was born in Dardanelle, Ark. She graduated from McLean High School. She had been a Canyon resident since 1940. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. She married Norman Glenn in 1933 at Sayre, Okla. Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Glandon of Abilene and Norma Burt of Amarillo; two sons, Bill Glenn of Wellington, Kan., and Jim Glenn of Amarillo; three brothers, Amos Williams of Augusta, Kan., Jake Williams of Amarillo and L.E. Carter of Cheney, Kan.; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. The family will receive visitors from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Box 332, Canyon, Texas, 79015. Oklahoma Mattie Maude Cayler Bates HARDESTY, Okla. - Mattie Maude Cayler Bates, 89, died Saturday, April 25, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Hardesty School Auditorium with the Rev. Don Calvert officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton. Mrs. Bates was born in Lipscomb. She lived in Perryton until 1957 when she moved to Arizona. In 1972, she moved to Amarillo then moved to Hardesty in 1982. Mrs. Bates was a self-employed owner of a cleaning shop in Perryton. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hardesty and Daughters of the Nile. She married Bill Cayler in 1933 at Clayton, N.M. He died in 1947. In 1957, she married J.R. Bates who died in 1969. Survivors include a daughter, Kay Wilkins of Hardesty; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
