Services will be at 11 a.m. today in First United Methodist Church of Fritch with the Rev. Lloyd Stice, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Pampa by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Mrs. Brain was born in Boston and had been a Hutchinson County resident for 53 years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Altar Guild, United Methodist Women and the Phillips Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence E. Brain Jr., in 1993; and by a son, Larry Brain, in 1961. Survivors include two sons, Allen Brain of Fritch and Dean Brain of Amarillo; and five grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the First United Methodist building fund. Nell Marie Reno Taber BORGER - Nell Marie Reno Taber, 90, died Wednesday, March 25, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church with Dr. David Jones, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors. Mrs. Taber was born in Gassville, Ark., and had lived in the Borger area for 69 years. She and her mother moved to Phillips in 1929 to join family. She attended Arkansas University and graduated from West Texas State University, where she obtained a master's degree. She taught school for 30 years in Phillips and in Borger at East Ward, Coronado and Central schools. She was a member of the Phillips Methodist Church, the Borger First United Methodist Church, the Faith and Life Class, the United Methodist Women, the American Association of University Women, the Tri-City Concert Association and the Retired Teachers Association. She married Aaron Taber in 1932 at Liberal, Kan. He died in 1996. She also was preceded in death by two daughters, Beverly Ann Taber in 1935 and Marylyn Olivia Barrow in 1994. Survivors include a son, James Aaron Taber of Denton; a daughter, Alice Joy Taber Dodd of Denver; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Margaret Young HEREFORD - Margaret Young, 86, died Thursday, March 26, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Cosby, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Rest Lawn Memorial Park by GilillandWatson Funeral Home. Mrs. Young was born in Marysville. She moved to Deaf Smith County from Fort Worth in 1929. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 35 years and sang in the choir. She also was a member of the Hereford Art Guild and the Garden Beautiful Club. She married E.W. Young in 1928 at Marysville. He died in 1985. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Dixie Murphy, in 1960. Survivors include a son, Virgil Young of Amarillo; two daughters, Louise Leasure of Hereford and Mary Ann Ashley of Centreville, Va.; a sister, Jessie McGill of Lamesa; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Kings Manor / Westgate. Hud Wayne Yerby DUMAS - Hud Wayne Yerby, 33, of Morse, died Wednesday, March 25, 1998. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Yerby was born in Hale Center. He lived in Dumas from 1964 to 1996, when he moved to Morse. He graduated from Dumas High School in 1982 and attended Texas Tech University. He was employed with Natural Gas Pipeline. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church in Dumas and the Lions Club in Morse. Mr. Yerby married Janet Stewart in 1984 at Dumas. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Magen Lynn Yerby of the home; a son, Mitchel Wayne Yerby of the home; his parents, Jerry and Glenda Yerby of Dumas; and two sisters, Shelia Getman of Dumas and Sherry Boyd of Spearman. Faye Sanford Termin PLAINVIEW - Faye Sanford Termin, 66, died Monday, March 23, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Lemons Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Mrs. Termin was born in Abernathy and had been a lifelong resident of Plainview. She worked for Lucian Morehead for 40 years. She was a member of the West Texas Native American Association, the RSVP, the January 28 Birthday Club and the Past Presidents Legal Secretarial Association. She married J.C. Termin in 1977 at Plainview. He died in 1990. Survivors include three sons, John Fondren of Lubbock, Tim Fondren of Plano and Daniel Fondren of Plainview; four stepchildren, Dale Termin, Tina Termin, Michael Termin and Michelle Stanford; a brother, Newell Sanford of Dallas; seven grandchildren; and six stepgrandchildren. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery by Parkside Chapel. Mrs. Urbanczyk was born in Chicago. She was a homemaker. She attended the Nazarene Church of Hereford. She married Martin Urbanczyk in 1973 at Hereford. She had lived in Stamford since 1980, moving from Abernathy. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She married R.T. Rush in 1969 at Muleshoe. Mrs. Rush was preceded in death by a daughter, Tonya Danielle, in 1975. Survivors include her husband; a son, R.T. Mr. Cates was born in Swisher County. He graduated from Floydada High School and attended Draughon's Business College in Lubbock. He married Eula Mae Gilbreath in 1934 at Crosby County. They moved back to Floyd County in 1955 and settled in Floydada in 1963. Mr. Cates was a retired farmer and a member of First Baptist Church, serving as a deacon for more than 50 years. He also was a member of Whirlwind Sam's Travel Club and the Senior Citizens of Floydada. Mr. Cates was preceded in death by his wife in 1997 and by two sons, Charlie Wayne Cates and Clinton Dale Cates. Survivors include a son, David Cates of Lubbock; a daughter, Nelda Maurer of Darrouzett; a brother, Lonnie C. Cates of Justin; seven grandchildren; and 12 greatgrandchildren. She graduated from Palo Duro High School and from West Texas State University with a bachelor of arts degree in teaching. She was a member of Kingswood United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Casie Anne Bohensky of Amarillo; a son, Michael Bohensky of San Angelo; her parents, Bill and Jean Baker of Amarillo; a brother, Randall Baker of Manassas, Va.; and a grandchild. David Paul Varner David Paul Varner, 47, of 222 W. Cactus, died Tuesday, March 24, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Comanche Trail Church of Christ with Loran Harper, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Varner was born in La Junta, Colo. He moved to Amarillo 16 years ago from Edmond, Okla. He worked as a night watchman and custodian for the River Road Independent School District. He was a member and a deacon at Comanche Trail Church of Christ. He married Teresa Francies in 1972 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Calee Varner of the home; two sons, Chad Varner of Fort Hood and Casey Varner of the home; his mother, Iona Varner of Atoka, Okla.; and two brothers, Ron Varner of Albuquerque, N.M., and Gary Varner of Abilene. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Ms. Yule was born in Elida, N.M. She moved to Amarillo in 1975 from Carlsbad, N.M. She retired from Northwest Texas Hospital, where she had worked in medical records. Survivors include four sons, Rickey Yule and Edwin Yule, both of Amarillo, Gerald Yule of Ohio and Warren Yule of Dallas; a daughter, Vonnie Skaar of Illinois; 15 grandchildren; and many greatgrandchildren. Charlie Myers Charlie "Brown" Myers, 71, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, March 24, 1998. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Chaparral Hills Baptist Church with the Rev. He served with the Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was a construction worker and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He married Bobby Bobbitt in 1969 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert McKee of Amarillo; three daughters, Sandra Woodard of Clayton, Linda Ballard of Frazier, Colo., and Cheri Pownall of San Jacinto, Calif.; a sister, Helen Monson of Amarillo; 25 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Carl Langford Jr. Carl Langford Jr., 65, of 4318 Parker, died Thursday, March 26, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Llano East Cemetery with the Rev. Windell Taylor, chaplain at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, officiating. Military rites will be by Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 26. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Langford was born in Cotton County, Okla. He moved to Amarillo in 1948 from Temple, Okla. He served with the 8th Army, 2nd Infantry during the Korean War. He received the Presidential Unit Citation, the Republic of Korea Presidential Citation, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal with two bronze stars and the United Nations Service Medal. After being discharged from the Army, he worked for Pinkney Packing Co. for 19 years. He became a meat inspector for the USDA. He retired in 1993 after 27 years of service. Mr. Langford married Mary Frances Cantrell in 1959 at White Deer. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Verna Cunningham of Panhandle and Debra Posey of Amarillo; a son, Mat Langford of Amarillo; two sisters, Nina Merklen of Garland and Doris Brazille of Amarillo; two brothers, James Langford of Whitesboro and Gary Langford of Timbercreek Canyon; and six grandchildren. The family will be at 4318 Parker. Billie Hughes McKee Billie Hughes McKee, 61, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, March 25, 1998. Osage St. Mr. McKee was born in Morgan County, Ala. He moved to Amarillo in 1985 from Chicago. He worked for Strickland Transport for 26 years before retiring in 1983. He was Baptist. He married Martha Glueck in 1963 at Chicago. Survivors include his wife; a son, William "Willie" McKee of Amarillo; two sisters, Vila Farley and Linda Lovelady, both of Amarillo; two brothers, Liland McKee of Eva, Ala., and Darnell McKee of Decatur, Ala.; and three grandchildren. He graduated from Sul Ross University with a master's degree in business. He served with the Marines from 1961 to 1962. He taught and coached at school in Tulia from 1962 until 1965 and at Permian High School from 1966 to 1970. He coached at West Texas State University from 1971 to 1973. Mr. Rudd owned and operated Samson Corp. in Odessa from 1973 to 1984 and served as district administrator for the Ector County Independent School District from 1984 to 1992. He was a food service director for the Sweetwater Independent School District from 1992 to 1996. From 1996 to 1998, he taught at Sweetwater High School. He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church and a member of the Chuck Wagon Gang in Odessa. Mr. Rudd married Jan Henderson in 1982 at Odessa. Survivors include his wife; his mother, Rosalie Gainer of Sweetwater; and a brother, Deric Rudd of Plano. New Mexico Annie E. Hays FARMINGTON, N.M. - Annie E. Hays, 77, a former resident of Borger, Texas, and Pampa, Texas, died Wednesday, March 25, 1998. Services will be at 5 p.m. today (MST) in St. John's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Mark Zimmerman, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Alternative Society of Farmington. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Borger with the Rev. Jake Clemmens, rector of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church of Pampa, officiating. Local arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Hays was born in Sapulpa, Okla. She moved to Borger in 1965 and worked at the Borger News Herald before retiring in 1984. She moved to Pampa in 1988 and to Farmington in 1991. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Borger and St. John's Episcopal Church in Farmington. She married Stanley Hays in 1946 at Pampa. He died in 1973. Survivors include a son, David Hays of Cheyenne, Wyo.; a daughter, Jennifer Anderson of Farmington; two sisters, Rovena Palmitier of Pampa and Elsie Branton of Norman, Okla.; a brother, J.E. Johnson of Dallas; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The body will not be available for viewing. Canyon Cecil Read Cecil "C.B." Read, 79, of Canyon, died Thursday, March 26, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Dreamland Cemetery with the Rev. Gayle Bowen, associate pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mr. Read was born in Wise County. He married Ellen Faye Gafford in 1946 at Happy. They moved to Canyon in 1948. Mr. Read worked for 17 years as a carpenter at Taylor & Sons. He retired as an electrician for Wayne Wirt Electric in 1984. He received a service certificate for 30 years of service with the city of Canyon code enforcement division. He was an Army veteran of World War II, stationed in Honolulu during the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He was a member of the 24th and 25th Division of Combat Engineers. Mr. Read had belonged to the Masons for 40 years. Survivors include his wife; a son, Randy Read of Canyon; a daughter, Sharon Van Schepen of Amarillo; two brothers, Earl Ray Read of Woodward, Okla., and Dub Read of Fargo, Okla.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
