Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd., with Dr. Charles Jones, pastor of Second Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Johnson was born in Illinois and had been an Amarillo resident for 25 years. She was a cook at the Blue Front Cafe and later was self-employed making wedding cakes. She was a member of Second Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Laurie Johnson and Katy Johnson, both of Amarillo; a son, Jason Johnson of Dallas; and her mother, Loraine Fortunato of Carpinteria, Calif. The family requests memorials be to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. WALKER Emmett J. Walker Emmett J. Walker, 96, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, May 26, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Llano Cemetery with Bret McCasland, minister at San Jacinto Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Walker was born in Douglas County, Mo., and had lived in Amarillo since 1945. He grew up in Spearman and ranched as a young man on the Turkey Tract. He was a member of San Jacinto Church of Christ, where he served as custodian for 30 years. He was retired from ranching. He married Icie Bernice Walker in 1948 at Amarillo. She died in 1976. Survivors include four nieces, including Carol Ann Clark of Amarillo; and five nephews, including James Carroll May and Charles D. Walker both of Amarillo. Milton R. Ayres Milton R. Ayres, 73, of Amarillo, died Monday, May 25, 1998. No services are scheduled. Cremation is under the direction of Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage. Mr. Ayres was born in Magic City and moved to Pampa in 1929. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was an oil field mechanic. Survivors include two sisters, Anna Stone of Pampa and Connie Meredith of Cushing, Okla. The body will not be available for viewing. Pauline Katherine Glovier Pauline Katherine Rietmann Glovier, 98, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, May 26, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. with Monsignor Francis Smyer of St. Mary's Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Glovier was born in Marion, Ind., and moved to Amarillo in 1988 with her family. They owned Reitmann Grocery from 1910 to 1929. She married Walter A. Glovier in 1922 and they lived in Hereford and Wildorado before moving to Amarillo in 1928. He died in 1974. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and of the Altar Society at the church. She was a charter member of the McDowell Music Club and also of the Antique Collectinea Club. She was active in the Texas State Federation of Women's Club, Panhandle Plains Historical Society, Llano Estacado Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the El Navegar Study Club. Survivors include a nephew, Noel D. Reitman; four nieces, Linda Cherry, Mary Elizabeth Blaylock, Sara Stanley and Dr. Alice Jane Hadwin; and 10 great nieces and great nephews. James Barry Cowper James Barry Cowper, 44, died Sunday, May 24, 1998. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Paramount Terrace Christian Church Chapel with the Rev. She served in the Navy and was a member of the Los Compadres Motorcycle Club. The body will not be available for viewing. New Mexico Tracy Gail Boyce-Herbert CLAYTON, N.M. - Tracy Gail Boyce-Herbert, 34, died Friday, May 22, 1998, in New Brunswick, N.J. Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gail Joralemon of Albuquerque officiating. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton. Mrs. Boyce-Herbert was born in Las Cruces, N.M. She graduated from El Dorado High School in Albuquerque in 1982. In 1987, she received her bachelor's degree in secondary education from New Mexico State University. She served in the Peace Corps in Malawi, Africa, from 1987 until 1989, then completed her master's degree in biology from the University of New Mexico in 1994. She married Guy Herbert in 1993. They moved to Metuchen, N.J., last year. Survivors include her husband; her parents, Garth and Stana Boyce of Clayton; a sister, Micci Dill-Boyce of Clayton; a brother, Brian Boyce of Clayton; and grandparents, Stan and Phyllis Bode of Carlsbad and Daisy Boyce of Carlsbad. Joe Jaques CLOVIS, N.M. - Joe "CuCo" Jaques, 77, died Tuesday, May 26, 1998, Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in The Chapel, 1500 Thornton. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Carlos Chavez officiating. Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Santa Fe National Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Cannon Air Force Base Honor Guard. Arrangements are by Muffley Funeral Home in Clovis. Mr. Jaques was born in Clovis. He was employed by the Railroad Ice Plant and later was a plumber. He was a member of American Legion Post 25 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3280. He and Rita Sena were married at Pintada. Survivors include his wife; a sister, La La Pena of Belen; and two brothers, Manuel Jaques of Clovis and Juan Jaques of Belen. Henry L. Henson TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Henry L. Henson, 79, died Tuesday, May 26, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Dunn Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Bill Bowman, Baptist minister, and Randy Paul Henson officiating. Burial will be in the National Cemetery in Santa Fe. Mr. Henson was born in Hiram, Texas. He moved to Red River in 1974 and lived in Los Alamos and Rio Ranchos before moving to Tucumcari five months ago. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. In Texas, Mr. Henson operated a furniture business. He was in real estate in New Mexico. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tucumcari. He married Ruby V. Martin in 1939 at Wills Point, Texas. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jerry Henson of Red River; a daughter, Brenda Priddy of Tucumcari; five brothers, James L. Henson, Ollie K. Henson, Robert L. Henson, James W. Henson and Rex W. Henson, all of Texas; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be until service time Thursday at the funeral home. Elsewhere Wesley Dale Weeks SAN MARCOS - Wesley Dale Weeks, 94, a former resident of Dalhart, Amarillo and Borger, died Monday, May 25, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church in San Marcos with the Rev. Bernie Sandberg officiating. Burial will be in San Marcos City Cemetery by Pennington Funeral Home, 323 N. Comanche St., San Marcos. Mr. Weeks was born in Somervell County and lived most of his life in Dalhart, Amarillo and Borger. He graduated from Dalhart High School, then received his degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University in 1925. He received a doctor of laws degree from Webster University in 1928, a master of science degree in sociology from Texas A&M in 1933, completed studies in industrial chemistry from International Correspondence Schools in 1945 and received degrees from 12 other schools. During the Depression, Mr. Weeks was a teacher, principal and school superintendent in the Panhandle as well as in Odessa, Texarkana, Arkansas and Mississippi. He attended graduate school at the University of Boulder, Texas A&M and West Texas State College. He served in the Army from 1936 until 1937 and again in 1942. After the war, Mr. Weeks was employed as an engineer with Shamrock Oil and Gas Corp., assistant engineer with Brown and Root Construction Co., operating engineer with Cactus Ordinance Plant, junior engineer with Phillips Petroleum Co., and mechanical engineer with Southwestern Public Service Co. He owned a drug manufacturing plant in Borger for 21/2 years and was a sales representative for International Correspondence Schools and other companies for five years. Mr. Weeks was retired and had lived in San Marcos since 1991. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in San Marcos and the Masonic Lodge in Dalhart. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Matthew Weeks. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Daughtery; two daughters, Mary Dee Weeks Compton of San Marcos and Evelyn Jane Weeks Cizek Stephens van den Bergh Bledsoe of West Covina, Calif.; a sister, Loyce Weeks Price of Owasso, Okla.; five grandchildren; and three greatgrandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 p.m. todayat the funeral home. Larry Pat Beck HOUSTON - Larry Pat Beck, 59, died Saturday, May 23, 1998. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Canterbury United Methodist Church in Houston. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery by Forest Park Funeral Home. Mr. Beck was born in Kress. He graduated from high school in 1956 at Roswell, N.M. He attended the University of New Mexico and earned his associate of arts degree from Houston Community College. He served in the Army Reserves from 1961 until 1967. Mr. Beck was employed by New Mexico Transportation in Amarillo. He moved to Houston in 1971. Survivors include his wife, Maybelle; two daughters, Julie Beck and Susan Barber; a son, Mike Harrah; two brothers, Jerry Dee Beck and Bob C. Oklahoma Sammy Shilling TEXHOMA, Okla. - Sammy Shilling, 29, died Sunday, May 24, 1998, at Oklahoma City. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Armstrong, pastor of the Nazarene Church and the Rev. Terry Davidson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Texhoma Cemetery by Dawson-Welch Funeral Home. Mr. Shilling was born in Boise City and was raised around the Texhoma and Four Corners areas. He graduated from the Yarbrough School and was a member of First Baptist Church. He trained in fire safety and was a foreman and inspector of sprinkler systems. He married Misty Trimble in 1996. Ms. Hatfield was born in Borger and was a lifetime resident of Fritch. She was a 1992 graduate of Fritch High School. She was a gold medal winner in the Special Olympics in 1992. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Memphis Funeral Home. Mrs. Godfrey was born in Denton County. She married E.H. "Bud" Godfrey in 1925 at Memphis. He died in 1989. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and First Baptist Church, where she had been active in her Sunday school class for many years. Survivors include a son, Bengy Godfrey of Memphis; a daughter, Martha Smith of Tongahokie, Kan.; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Estep was born in Oklahoma. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He moved to Herford in 1995. He was a farmer and member of First Baptist Church. He married Willie Dunlap in 1995. Hargesheimer of Amarillo; a daughter, Melissa Gruver of Amarillo; a sister, June Hargesheimer; and 12 grandchildren. Gabriela Vasquez Lund PAMPA - Gabriela Vasquez Lund, 19, died Monday, May 25, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Iglesia Biblica De Pueblo with Paul Allen Pletcher of Pampa officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Lund was born and raised in Pampa. She was a 1997 graduate of Pampa High School. She was a member of Texas Association of Future Educators and the Iglesia Biblica De Pueblo. She had moved to Guymon, Okla., after her marriage and was a homemaker. She married Dustin Lund in 1997 at Pampa. Survivors include her husband; a son, Xavier Cole Lund of the home; her parents, Agustine and Maria Vasquez of Pampa; two sisters, Ruthy Vasquez and Minnie Vasquez, both of Pampa; two brothers, Mauricio Vasquez of Austin and Gustavo Vasquez of Winamac, Ind.; and her grandmother, Tomasa Torres of El Paso.
