Weidman Harry P. Weidman, 99, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998. Services are scheduled for Saturday by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery Mausoleum. Mr. Weidman was born in Neodosha, Neb., and had lived in Amarillo for 69 years. He was a graduate of Kansas University and a World War I veteran. Mr. Weidman retired after 41 years as a civil engineer with Santa Fe Railroad. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Kansas and the American Legion. He married Berneice Beaumont in 1931. Survivors include his wife; a son, Ted Weidman of Fort Worth; a daughter, Sandra Lamb of Wildorado; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center. Vanique Mayberry Vanique Mayberry, 77, of Amarillo, died Monday, Nov. 23, 1998. Wake will be from 6 until 8 p.m. today in Warford-Walker Mortuary Chapel. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Jenkins Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Roger Battle, pastor, and the Rev. Elgie Crow, pastor of Carter Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by WarfordWalker Mortuary Inc., 509 N. Hughes St. Mr. Mayberry was a native of Gonzales County, where he attended elementary school and graduated from Edwards High School. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. In 1951, he moved to Amarillo where he was employed by the city of Amarillo until his retirement in 1982. Mr. Mayberry was a member of Jenkins Chapel Baptist Church, where he served as director of the Baptist Training Union, superintendent of the Sunday School Youth Department, and was a choir member. He married Jessie Sampleton in 1941 at Gonzales. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Vaney Dee Mayberry of San Bernardino, Calif., and Eddie Ray Mayberry of Dallas; six daughters, Erna Watkins of Waco, Iris Steen Gill of Carson, Calif., Joyce Gooden of Amarillo, and Julia Campbell, Deloris Abrams and Mary Lue Washington, all of Dallas; two brothers, Loyd Mayberry of Amarillo and Chrystal Mayberry of Dallas; three sisters, Dorothy Mayberry of Gonzales, Margie Johnson of Luling and Frankie Reese of San Diego; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will be at 1924 N.W. 14th. Willie DeCroix Willie DeCroix, 77, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998. Services will be at 1 p.m. today in Llano Garden Mausoleum. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia. Mrs. DeCroix was born in Sweetwater, Ala. She lived in San Clemente, Calif., for 23 before moving to Amarillo in 1972. She was a secretary and member of Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall-Southwest Congregation. She married Virgil DeCroix in 1949 at Clovis, N.M. Survivors include her husband; three sisters, Loretta Wilson of Amarillo, Louise Fender of Columbus, Ohio and Joyce Fisk of Oklahoma City; and numerous nieces and nephews. Laverne Poynor Laverne Poynor, 65, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Anna Street Church of Christ with Gene Shelburne, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia. Mrs. Poynor was born in Thalia and graduated from Crowell High School. She then attended data processing school. She moved to Amarillo in 1951. A member of Anna Street Church of Christ, Mrs. Poynor taught Bible preschool. She was a homemaker. She married E.D. Poynor Jr., in 1950 at Vernon. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Carol Jones and Dee Ann Poynor, both of Amarillo; a son, Michael David Poynor of Amarillo; three sisters, Vicky Pollard of Amarillo, Corky Davis of Albuquerque, N.M., and Pam Wilhelm of Bryan; four grandchildren; and a greatgrandchild. Henry Junior Warren Henry Junior "Hank" Warren, 62, of Dimmitt, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Coulter Road Baptist Church with Windell Taylor, chaplain of the Veterans Administration Medical Center, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia. Mr. Warren was born in San Angelo and moved to Canyon in 1975 from Hampton, Va. He was an adult probation officer for Castro-Swisher County. He had served for 111/2 years in the Marines and 111/2 years in the Air Force. He married Loretta Carol Hollis in 1958 at Manassas, Va. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Belva Elizabeth York of Guymon, Okla.; a son, Guy Edward Warren of Odenton, Mo.; a brother, Jack Warren of Canyon; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family suggests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony Hospice and Life Enrichment Center or a favorite charity. Area Manuela Montoya DUMAS - Manuela Montoya, 74, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Templo Elim de las Asambleas de Dios with the Rev. Jose L. Contreras, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Montoya was born in San Marcos and had resided in Dumas since 1973. She had been a longtime resident of Ulysses, Kan., and was a homemaker. She was a member of Templo Elim de las Asambleas de Dios in Dumas. She was preceded in death by a son, Jose Luis Ortiz. Survivors include two daughters, Lupe Herrera of Dumas and Yolanda Perez of Corpus Christi; three sons, John Montoya of Borger, Arthur Montoya of Ulysses and Eddy Duarte of Berryville, Ark.; 20 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. Edwin Lee Favor CLARENDON - Edwin Lee Favor, died on his 88th birthday, Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Robertson Funeral Directors Chapel. Burial will be in Hedley. Mr. Favor was born in Oklahoma and moved to Whitesboro at a young age. For 61 years, he was a rancher. He married Ethel Mae Roland in 1931. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Alice Paschal of Amarillo and Barbara Owens of Owasso, Okla.; a son Carroll Favor of Hedley; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Garland Brown MORTON - Garland Brown, 84, of Bledsoe, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. MST Sunday in First United Methodist Church of Tatum, N.M., with the Rev. Rick Parker, pastor, and the Rev. Louis Crenshaw, retired minister of Tatum, officiating. Burial will be in Tatum Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home of Morton. Mr. Brown was born in Scranton. In 1959, he moved from Bledsoe to McDonald, N.M., then returned to Bledsoe in 1979. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tatum where he served on the administrative board. A rancher, Mr. Brown was a member of the Registered Hereford Cattle Association and the American Quarter Horse Association. He served on the Lea County Electric Co-op Board. He married Edna Underwood in October, 1990 at Tatum. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maurine Grisham in April of 1990, and a daughter, Jean Cadjew, in 1982. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jerry D. Brown of Bayfield, Colo., and Marvin Lee Brown of Plains, Texas; a daughter, Kathy Ozborn of Lovington; two brothers, Loyd Brown of Lovington and Donald Brown of Bledsoe; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in 14th and Meredith Street Church of Christ with Willard Simmons of the church officiating. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens in Dumas by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Rigdon was born in Bell County and had lived in Dumas since 1955. A homemaker, she was a member of 14th and Meredith Street Church of Christ. She married Chester Rigdon in 1937 at McKinney. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Chester Dwayne Rigdon and William Eugene Rigdon, both of Mesquite, and Marshall Rigdon of Coppell; a sister, Rachel Gearhart of Dumas; and 10 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. January CLAUDE - Thelma B. January, 92 died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church in Claude with the Rev. Carol Crumpton and the Rev. Joe Darrell Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Claude Cemetery by Schooler-Armstrong Chapel of Claude. Mrs. January was born in Hillsboro and moved to Claude in 1906. She attended schools at Worthy Country and Claude, where she graduated in 1924. She was a farmer and homemaker who worked with several organizations in Claude. Since 1916, Mrs. January was a member of First United Methodist Church where she taught the teen-age Sunday School class and league for eight years. She was a charter member of the Missionary Society and a member of the Warner Sunday School class for more than 60 years. She organized the Malden Harmony Club and had been a 60-plus year member. She married Joe January in 1924 at Claude. He preceded her in death in 1977. Survivors include a daughter, Luella B. Sandell of Claude; a grandson, Danny Dean of Austin; and two great-grandchildren.
