Mrs. Holdman was born in Perryton. She moved from Ignacio, Colo., to the Perryton area 14 years ago. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Perryton. She married Jim Holdman in 1955 at Carlsbad, N.M. She was preceded in death by two sons, Haskal Ray Holdman and Amon Jay Holdman. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Nina Lynn Wright of Ignacio; a brother, J.T. Wright of Perryton; a sister, Euella Spoonmore, near Austin; and four grandchildren. Catherine June Gainer Hoover PLAINVIEW - Catherine June Gainer Hoover, 67, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1996. Services will be at 4 p.m. today in Wood-Dunning Funeral Home Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Clark of Bethel Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Hoover was born in Fieldton and moved to Lubbock in 1956. She then moved to Plainview where she was employed as a home care-giver. In 1997, she moved to Comanche. She married Marion Philip Gainer in 1946. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991 and by a son, Donald Dave Gainer, in 1953. Survivors include a son, Jesse L. Gainer of Dallas; two daughters, Phylis Ann White and Beverly June McClure, both of Plainview; three sisters, Iralee Kelsay of Ariel, Wash., Kay Humphries of Comanche and Judy Womack of Goldthwaite; a brother, Lex Hollis of Hillsboro, Ore.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mina Leona Holden PERRYTON - Mina Leona Holden, 79, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998. Private family burial will be in Blue Mound Cemetery. Cremation was by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton. Mrs. Holden was born in Buckner, Mo., and lived in the area since 1951. She was a homemaker and member of First Baptist Church. She married Jackson J. Holden in 1964 at Perryton. He died in 1988. Neil Andrew Langley LOCKNEY - Neil Andrew Langley, 64, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998. Rosary service will be at 7 p.m. today in Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in San Jose Catholic Church in Lockney with the Rev. Jim McCartney of St. Alice Catholic Church of Plainview officiating. Burial will be in Lockney Cemetery. Mr. Langley was born in Liberty community of Floyd County. He attended public school in Liberty and Floydada and attended St. Michael's College in Santa Fe, N.M. A retired farmer, he was a member of San Jose Catholic Church in Lockney. He was a lifelong resident of Floyd County. He married Charline Gallaway in 1959 at Plainview. Survivors include his wife; a son, Andy Langley of Pampa; a daughter, Cathy Langley Webster of Sarasota, Fla.; two brothers, James Langley of San Diego and Ralph Langley of Slaton; three sisters, Elouise Gallaway of Olton, Bobbie Damron of Dimmitt and Cecilia Higdon of Lubbock; and four grandchildren. Mary Bavousett FRIONA - Mary Bavousett, 70, died Friday, Oct. 23, 1998. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Boren, pastor, officiating. Her body was donated to Texas Tech Medical School. Arrangements are by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home. Mrs. Bavousett was born in Hereford and had lived in Friona for 30 years. She received her master's degree from West Texas State University. From 1968 until her retirement in 1990, she was a special education teacher in the Friona Independent School District. In 1984, Mrs. Bavousett was named Teacher of the Year. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Friona, Council of Exceptional Children and was past local president of the Texas State Teachers Association. She also was a member of Progressive Study Club, Delta Kappa Gamma and the Parmer County Community Hospital Auxiliary. She married Steve Bavousett in 1954 at Hereford. Survivors include her husband; a son, Mark Bavousett of Coppell; a daughter, Carol Ann Mattick of San Antonio; and two grandchildren. Mrs. Dempsey was a native of Paris, Texas, and had been a Borger resident for 53 years. She was a homemaker and member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Dempsey, in 1984. Survivors include a sister, Mable Proffitt of Borger and a family friend, Nelda Scott, of Borger. Teresa Gail Rose FARWELL - Teresa Gail Rose, 29, died Monday, Oct. 19, 1998. Cremains will be buried. She attended TSTC in Sweetwater, University of New Mexico, West Texas A&M University and Eastern New Mexico University. She was a nurse who moved to Hanover, N.H., from El Paso in 1995. Keith Brashear HALE CENTER - Keith Brashear, 72, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Meacham officiating. Burial will be in Hale Center Cemetery by FreemanAbell Funeral Home. Mr. Brashear was born in Tahoka and graduated from Petersburg High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy on a minesweeper in the Pacific. He attended Texas Tech University. Mr. Brashear received the chartered property casualty underwriter designation by the American Institute for Property and Liability Underwriters, Inc., of which he was a lifetime member. He was a member of the National Association of Enrolled Agents. In 1951, Mr. Brashear moved to Hale Center where he was employed by First National Bank until 1955. At that time, he joined Hale Center Insurance Agency in partnership with Virgil Martin. He became sole owner in 1977. He had a tax practice until 1987 and retired in 1991. Mr. Brashear was a member of the Lions Club and the chamber of commerce where he served as president of each for two terms. He was president of Band Boosters, on the Hale County Child Welfare board, and was Hale Center EMS volunteer and treasurer. In 1977, he received the Hale Center Citizenship Award. As a member of First Baptist Church, Mr. Brashear served as a deacon, treasurer from 1959 until 1989, taught Men's Sunday School Class, served as chairman of the building committee for rebuilding the church after the tornado of 1965 and was a member of the choir. He taught youth at Jerusalem Baptist and was a member of Gideon's International. He married Mary Jane Ruffner in 1949 at Crosbyton. Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert Brashear of Hong Kong; a daughter, Kristi Sturdivant of Moorestown, N.J.; a brother, Jack Brashear of Lubbock; and four grandchildren. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. She married Lewis Shafer in 1932 at Farwell. He died in 1987. Survivors include two sons, Lewis Wayne Shafer of Needmore and Bruce Shafer of Friona; two sisters, Myrtle Puckett of Muleshoe and Jewel Walker of Las Vegas; a brother, George E. Stevenson of Panhandle; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mildred J. Reid SILVERTON - Mildred J. Reid, 84, died Monday, Oct. 26, 1998. Mrs. Reid was born in Wise County. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Silverton. From 1964 until 1986, she served as Briscoe County treasurer. She married Paul A. Reid in 1937 at Silverton. He died in 1951. She lived in Booker for 29 years and then in Higgins for 13 years. She was a homemaker who lived in Salina, Kan., for three years until moving to Canadian. She married Allie Pearl "Hi" Hopper in 1929 at Lipscomb County. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1967 and by two sons, William Hopper, in 1955 and Allie Pearl "J.R." Hopper Jr. in 1979. Mr. Mullins was born in Tioga and moved to Amarillo in 1953. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He had worked for Texaco for 25 years, retiring in 1978. He was a Baptist. He married Zoan Faulkner in 1952 at Southmayd. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Mullins, in 1958. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Michelle Wilde of Amarillo; a son, Scot Mullins of Watauga; a sister, Thelma Gressett of Whitesboro; and four grandchildren. Samuel Thomas Ritter Samuel Thomas Ritter, 20, a former Amarillo resident, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998, in Phoenix, Ariz. Jay Roy Crutchfield Jay Roy Crutchfield, 62, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Crutchfield was born in Hereford and had lived in Amarillo for several years. He graduated from Kemper Military Academy in Missouri in 1954. Mr. Crutchfield had been a civilian instructor for the Air Force, an agriculture pilot and an auctioneer. He was a member of Trinity Fellowship. He married Sherley Seeley in 1954 at New Mexico. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Crutchfield, in 1993. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kim Crutchfield of Dallas and Julian Crutchfield of Troon, Scotland; and four grandchildren. The family will be at 5315 S. Parker. They suggest memorials be to a favorite charity. Noma J. Eustace Noma J. Eustace, 90, formerly of Amarillo, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998, in Austin. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Polk Street United Methodist Church with Dr. James Garret of the church officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce St. Mrs. Eustace was born in Cumby and had lived in Amarillo for 56 years. She received her bachelor's degree in education and master's degree in English from East Texas State Teachers College. In 1991, she moved to Austin. For 32 years, Mrs. Eustace taught public school in Amarillo from first grade through junior high. She was active in the Amarillo Classroom Association and a member of Texas State Teachers Association. She was president of Kappa Kappa Iota and Primero Study Club. In 1974-75 and 1988-89, she was president of CoWorkers where she also held other offices. Mr. Eustace was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church, the church choir from 1938 until 1947 and United Methodist Women. She was a member of PEO and was a teacher in the primary Sunday school department for four years. She married Carlos F. Eustace in 1946 at Amarillo. He died in 1980. Survivors include a son, Carter C. Eustace of Austin; a sister, Cloe Casey of Dallas; and three grandchildren. Eleanor Pauline Walker Eleanor Pauline Walker, 85, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998. Mrs. Walker was born in Pocono Lake, Pa. She moved to Amarillo in 1964 from Kensington, Kan. For 13 years, she worked in the cafeteria at Amarillo High School. She married Lloyd Walker in 1982 at Amarillo. She was preceded in death by a son, Enos Dean Curry, in 1963 and by a daughter, LaRue Carver, in 1998. Survivors include two daughters, Linda Delay of Brighton, Colo., and Jeanie Dome of Amarillo; two sisters, Kate Ochenhouse of Bethlehem, Pa., and Marion Selig of Pocono Lake; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She had been employed as a waitress for the Amarillo Hotel. She was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She married Floyd Ridner in 1945 at Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974 and by a daughter, Valta Howard. Survivors include four grandchildren, Toni Brantley of Spring, Melanie Lynn of Bushland, Terry Howard of Amarillo and Marty Howard of Casper, Wyo.; and 12 great-grandchildren. For 40 years, he was a contract estimator for Amarillo Area Glass and area sales manager for Pittsburgh Glass. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Ann Haynes, in 1991 and by a daughter, Rebecca Lynn Hayes, in 1980. Survivors include three sons, Billy Dwayne Haynes, James Michael Haynes and Joseph Ralph Haynes, all of Amarillo; a sister, Barbara O'Toole-Gum of Fritch; and a brother, Robert Crabaugh of Sacramento, Calif. The family suggests memorials be to Disabled American Veterans Chapter 26. Oklahoma Muriel L. Martin TYRONE, Okla. - Muriel L. Martin, 75, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 1998. Services were at 10 a.m. Monday in Tyrone Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Hein officiating. Burial was in the Oberlin Cemetery at Oberlin, Kan., with the Rev. David Randall officiating. Arrangements were by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Martin was born and raised in Oberlin. He graduated from Oberlin High School. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. After the war, he returned to Oberlin and married Avis Pollnow, who died in 1967. Mr. Martin was an alcohol counselor with Valley Hope in Norton, Kan., and Nebraska Mental Health in Scotts Bluff, Neb. He moved to Tyrone in 1994. His second marriage was to Mildred Sleffel, who died in 1969. He also was preceded in death by a son, David Lee. Survivors include sons, Randy Martin of Valley, Neb., Tom Martin of Tyrone and Rod Martin of Liberal, Kan.; a brothers, Kenneth Martin of Oberlin; and five grandchildren. Georgia Ruby Houts BOISE CITY, Okla. - Georgia Ruby Houts, 80, died Monday, Oct. 26, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Church of Christ of Boise City. Burial will follow in Boise City Cemetery by Cimarron Mortuary. Mrs. Houts was born in Oak Union, Texas, and moved to Boise City when she was 6 months old. She was raised by her aunt and uncle who she lived with until their deaths. In 1937, she graduated from Boise City High School and continued to work on the family farm. She married Raymond Houts in 1954 at Clayton, N.M. She farmed with her husband and was a member of the Church of Christ in Boise City. Survivors include her husband; and a brother, Pac King of Vernon, Texas. The family suggests memorials be to Black Mesa Bible Camp or the Amarillo Children's Home. Memorials may be left in care of the mortuary. Elsewhere Marcia Mullican Caldwell LUBBOCK - Marcia Mullican Caldwell, 95, a former Canyon resident, died Monday, Oct. 26, 1998. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Luke's United Methodist Church, 3717 44th in Lubbock, with her grandson, the Rev. Rusty Dickerson, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Dimmitt, officiating. She donated her body to Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Mrs. Caldwell was born in Colorado City and grew up in Big Spring. In 1931, she moved to Channing where she and her husband owned and operated Caldwell Service Station until 1965. She then moved to Big Spring where she received her associate in arts degree in 1968 from Howard County Junior College. Mrs. Caldwell moved to Canyon where she graduated from West Texas A&M University with a bachelor of science degree in 1969 and her master of arts degree in 1973. In 1974, she established the Marcia Caldwell Scholarship Fund, which awards a scholarship to a WTA&M history major each semester. She was employed by the university. Mrs. Caldwell was a member of First United Methodist Church of Canyon, Canyon Order of the Eastern Star and Amarillo Writers' Club. She remained in Canyon until moving to Lubbock in 1989. She married H.T. Caldwell in 1926 at Eastland. He died in 1963. Survivors include a son, Frank Caldwell of Lubbock; two daughters, Doris Herbel of Warrenton, Mo., and Virginia Dickerson of Lubbock; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
