Arrangements are by the funeral home. Mrs. McCuistion was born in Bartlesville, Okla. and moved to Amarillo in 1946 and to Canyon in 1970. She was a homemaker and a nondenominational Christian. She married Travis McCuistion in 1935. He died in 1996. Survivors include two sons, Richard McCuistion of Littleton, Colo. and J.W. McCuistion of Canyon; a daughter, Julia McGowen of Canyon; three brothers, Bill Bruner and Fred Bruner, both of California, and W.O. Bruner of Oklahoma; a sister, Jessie Robinson of Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Viewing will be Sunday at the funeral home. Dorothy Lee Gardner Dorothy Lee Gardner, 77, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. James L. Collins, pastor; the Rev. She was a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church, the senior choir, Church Women United, the president's council and was president of the Women's Missionary Society. Survivors include her husband, Henry Gardner Sr.; three sons, Everett Gardner of Killeen, David Gardner and Henry Gardner Jr., both of Amarillo; a daughter, Carolyn Jackson Ellis of Houston; two brothers, Paul Young of Dallas and Billy Young of Portland, Wash; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family will be at 3124 Oak Street. Minnie Townsend Minnie "Betty" Townsend, 87, of Amarillo, died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998. Mrs. Townsend was born in Lebanon, Tenn., and moved to Amarillo from Guymon, Okla., in the mid-1940s. She was manager of sales for Hub Clothiers for more than 20 years. Mrs. Townsend was a Doe with the Elks Club and a past member of Trinity Baptist Church. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Spradling, in 1984. Mr. Keith was born in Wilburton, Okla. He graduated from Wilburton High School. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Mr. Keith moved to Amarillo in 1926. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army. Malcolm Gerald Meador Malcolm Gerald "Jerry" Meador, 68, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998. He moved to Amarillo from California in the late 1980s. He served as a sergeant in the Army and was a paratrooper and a veteran of the Korean War. John Channer FORT WORTH - Dr. John Channer, 87, formerly of Hereford, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Fellowship of Believers Church of Hereford with Dr. Nathan Stone officiating. Interment will follow in West Park Cemetery in Hereford by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home of Hereford. Dr. Channer was born in Goodland, Kan. He served in the Merchant Marines. He was a chiropractor in Hereford for more than 44 years before retiring. He married Connie Larue in 1990 in Breckenridge. He was a member of the Fellowship of Believers Church in Hereford. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis, in 1985. Survivors include his wife, Connie; a son, the Rev. An Air Force veteran, he was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church. He married Myrl Gooden. Oklahoma David Joseph Smith GUYMON, Okla. - David Joseph Smith, 88, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Sunday in Elmhurst Cemetery with Arle Bunch officiating. Arrangements were by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon. Mr. Smith was born in El Dorado Springs, Mo. and graduated from Enorh Miller High School in Liberty, Mo. in 1930. He is a veteran of the Army and served in World War II. He was a member of the American Legion and of the International Order of Oddfellows Lodge. He moved to Guymon in 1953 from Lakin, Kan. and worked as a surveyor until his retirement in 1972. Survivors include two nieces and two nephews. Robert J. Jacobs HOOKER, Okla. - Robert J. "Bob" Jacobs, 70, died Friday, Dec. 25, 1998. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. todayin Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hooker. Mr. Jacobs was born in Hodgeman County near Jetmore, Kan. He graduated from Hoisington High School in 1946. He moved from Hooker to Lakin, Kan., in 1961. He retired from K-N Energy as field foreman after 38 years of service. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion and the Straight Rod and Reel Club. He was preceded in death by a son, John Anthony Jacobs. He married Elsie Marie in 1955. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Stinnett. Mr. Riemer was born in Spearman and had been a resident of Stinnett since 1946. He received a bachelor's degree from West Texas State University. He was a veteran of the Army and served in World War II. He was a rancher and a member of Stinnett Christian Center and active in the Gideons and prison ministry. He married Beatrice Wetsel in 1942. She died in 1994. Survivors include three sons, Kenneth Riemer and Jimmy Riemer, both of Stinnett and Billy Riemer of Sacramento, Calif; a sister, Irene Williams of Stinnett; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Phillips was born in Sulphur Springs, Okla. He married Hazel Cooper in 1936 in Miami. They moved to Pampa in 1942. An Army veteran of World War II, he received the Purple Heart. He worked for Cabot Corp. for 35 years, retiring in 1977. Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his wife in August; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Survivors include three daughters, Martha Organ of Pampa, June Basham of Phoenix and Carolyn Goodner of Guthrie, Okla.; a son, Joe Phillips of Pampa; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson. Burial will be in Olton Cemetery by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home. Mrs. Culwell was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., and graduated from high school there. She graduated from the University of Michigan School of Nursing. She married Ray Culwell in 1946 in Canyon. Mrs. Culwell was a registered nurse, having served in the Army during World War II. She moved to Olton in 1950. She worked for Nichols Hospital in Plainview for 12 years, Heritage Home in Plainview and Running Water Draw Care Center in Olton. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1986; and a son, O.R. Culwell III. Survivors include a daughter, Susie Chitwood of Canyon; a son, Steve Culwell of Amarillo; a brother, Harold Stevens of Sault Ste. Marie; two sisters, Ina Seaman of California and Mabel Nash of Sault Ste. Marie; and four grandchildren. He was a truck driver for the Bar G Feed Yard and a member of San Jose Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Yolanda Enriquez, Olivia Rangel and Annabell Martinez, all of Hereford; three brothers, Juan Guerra Jr., Joe Guerra and Eddie Guerra, all of Hereford; and five grandchildren. Clarence M. Evans WHITE DEER - Clarence M. "Bud" Evans, 92, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Robert P. Kelly, minister of White Deer United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa. Mr. Evans was born in Indian Territory, Okla., and had lived in White Deer since 1929. He married Golda Gibson in 1936 in Hereford. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a driller, truck driver and tool dresser in the oil fields for many years. He retired from W.E. Wagoner Well Service of Pampa in 1968. Mr. Evans was a Methodist and a member of the White Deer Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Survivors include his wife; three sisters, Hope D. LaShier and Inez Evans, both of Amarillo, and Hazel Parker of Hugo, Colo.; and two nephews. Burial will be in Rowe Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Mrs. Gibbons was born in Plainview. She married Melvyn W. Gibbons in 1978 in Plainview and had lived in Hedley since 1981. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Melody Middleton of Memphis and Melissa Gibbons of Hedley; a brother, Alton Thomas of Kerrville; three stepdaughters, Melvyna Mendez and Jeanette Ayello, both of Clovis, Calif., and Jennifer Hopps of Austin; and six grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing from 8 a.m. Tuesday until service time at First Baptist Church. Doris Mae Maxey Talley CLARENDON - Doris Mae Maxey Talley, 89, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Robertson Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Truman Ledbetter, pastor of First Baptist Church of Clarendon, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery. Mrs. Talley was born in Cook County and was a longtime resident of Clarendon. She married William Oscar Maxey in 1926 in Clarendon. He preceded her in death in 1954. She later married John Chester Talley in 1956 in Clovis, N.M. He preceded her in death in 1984. Mrs. Talley was employed as a clerk at a pharmacy in Clarendon for many years before retiring. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She also was preceded in death by a son, Richard Maxey. Survivors include two daughters, Joveta Young of Amarillo and Lillian Johnston of Fritch; a stepdaughter, Mary Beth Childs of Amarillo; three stepsons, Billy Jack Talley of Joshua, John Chester Talley Jr. of Canadian and Robert Thomas Talley of Weatherford; a brother, Max Cash of Washington, Texas; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She had lived in Lubbock since 1992. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994. He was an electrician for more than 30 years and had been employed by Brandon and Clark in Hereford. He also was a professional artist. Survivors include his wife; his mother, Carolina Olivares of Lampasas; his stepmother, Beta Bocanegra of Lampasas; four daughters, Vickey Walker, Cynthia O'Daniel and Alane Bocanegra, all of Childress, and Annette Holiwell of Arlington; two sons, Albert Bocanegra Jr. and Allen Bocanegra, both of Childress; eight brothers, Daniel Bocanegra of DeLeon, Jerry Bocanegra, Ray Bocanegra and Sammy Bocanegra, all of Lampasas, Jimmy Olivares of Austin, Nelson Olivares of Brownwood, Raul Olivares of Fort Worth and Joe Olivares Jr. of Lampasas; five sisters, Linda Bocanegra, Lottie Bocanegra of Stephenville, Ramona Olivares of Brownwood, Janie Morua of Evant and Linda Weaver of Gatesville; his grandmother, Melatona Hernandez of Lampasas; and seven grandchildren. Leon V. Parsons PADUCAH - Leon V. Parsons, 70, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Assembly of God Church in Haskell with the Rev. J.C. Amburn, pastor, and the Rev. James Story of Mansfield officiating. Burial will be in Willow Cemetery at Haskell by Seigler Funeral Home of Paducah. Mr. Parsons was born in Center Point and was a longtime resident of Haskell before moving to Paducah six months ago. He was a retired oil field worker and had worked for the city of Haskell. Survivors include a brother, David Parsons of Paducah; and a sister, Estelle McMillin of Altos, Okla. Albert E. Clark SPEARMAN - Albert E. Clark, 65, died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Christ with Leonard Harper, minister, officiating. Private burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Clark was born in Newcastle and had lived in the Spearman area for 34 years. He married Claudine Jackson in 1956 near Spearman. Mr. Clark was a farmer and rancher and a member of the Spearman Church of Christ. He was elected the Precinct 2 Hansford County commissioner in November of 1998. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carrie Tidwell of Honolulu; a son, Rony Clark of Gruver; a brother, Wayne Clark of Lazbuddie; and a half-brother, George Clark of Newcastle; and three grandchildren. The family requests memorials be made to Spearman Church of Christ Benevolence Fund or a favorite charity.
