Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. David Evans officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home Inc., 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Little was born in McLean and had lived in Amarillo for 46 years. She graduated from McLean High School, where she was a member of the basketball team that won the state championship in 1951. She retired as a land lease analyst for Mesa Petroleum after 15 years. Mrs. Little was a member of the Amarillo Senior Citizens Association and Trinity Baptist Church. She was a volunteer at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. She was preceded in death by a son, Bradley Clay Hugg, in 1988. Survivors include three sons, Robert Brooks Hugg, Gary Ray Hugg and Ronald David Hugg, all of Amarillo; two sisters, Eulema Turner of Amarillo and Eulamae Wilson of Oklahoma City; 11 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. The family will be at 3925 Gatewood. They request memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center. New Mexico Weldon Rodgers LOGAN, N.M. - Weldon Rodgers, 77, died Monday, April 27, 1998, in Tucumcari. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Fort Sumner Church of Christ at Fort Sumner with Condy Billingsley and Woody McClung officiating. Burial will be in Fort Sumner Cemetery at Fort Sumner by Chavez Funeral Home of Fort Sumner. Mr. Rodgers was born in Haskell, Texas. He lived in Texas until moving to New Mexico when he was 15. He worked as a heavy-equipment operator for K. Barnett & Sons Construction of Clovis before retiring in 1982. He lived in Fort Sumner from 1955 until 1986, when he moved to Logan. Mr. Rodgers was a longtime member of Fort Sumner Church of Christ. He also was a member of Logan Church of Christ. He married Louise Barnett in 1942 at Clovis. Survivors include his wife; a son, Bill Rodgers of Littlefield, Texas; two daughters, Patsy McClung of Claude, Texas, and LuAnn Holland of Vernon, Texas; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren. Bette Jean Cox CLOVIS, N.M. - Bette Jean "Grandma Bette" Cox, 66, died Sunday, April 26, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Central Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy E. Hines Jr. officiating. Additional services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church at Quinton, Okla. Burial will be in Quinton Cemetery at Quinton. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mrs. Cox was born in Quinton and moved to Clovis in 1948. She graduated from Clovis High School in 1949. She lived in Oklahoma before returning to Clovis in 1974. She was a homemaker and managed her own business. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, the Glory Choir, the Central Baptist Adult Choir and the Shalom Ministries. She worked with the Festival of Trees and Relay for Life. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Cox. Survivors include her children, Jeanne Seyb Spencer of Friendswood, Texas, Howard Cox Jr. of Haskell, Okla., and John Cox of Quinton; her mother, Opal Winton of Stigler, Okla.; two sisters, Polly Smith of Longtown, Okla., and Becky Miller of Brea, Calif.; a brother, Jack Winton of El Paso, Texas; and seven grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the Central Baptist Church building fund or the American Lung Association. Donald P. Toothaker CLOVIS, N.M. - Donald P. Toothaker, 85, died Friday, April 24, 1998. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. James Episcopal Church with Arti McDowell officiating. Cremation was by Muffley Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date in Santa Fe National Cemetery at Santa Fe. Mr. Toothaker was born in Washington, Kan. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a civil service employee, working at Cannon Air Force Base as an air conditioner, refrigeration and heating technician. He was a member of the American Legion and St. James Episcopal Church. He was preceded in death by his wife. Survivors include three sons, Richard Toothaker and Robert Lloyd Toothaker, both of Schertz, Texas, and Donald Edward Toothaker of Oregon; care givers, Manuel and Dora Garcia of Clovis; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Julia Evans TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Julia Evans, 88, died Monday, April 27, 1998. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Dunn Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Wes Stewart, pastor of Temple Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Evans was born in Carnegie, Okla., and moved to New Mexico in 1934. She lived in Las Vegas for a couple of years before moving to San Jon in 1937. She moved to Tucumcari in 1967. She was a charter member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 62 of San Jon and a member of the Golden Link Rebekah Lodge of San Jon. She was Methodist. She was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Gene Rhodes, in 1994. Survivors include her husband, Clint; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The body will be available for viewing at the funeral home until service time. Elsewhere William Robertson SEGUIN - William Robertson died Saturday, April 18, 1998. Private services were by Goetz Funeral Home. Survivors include a daughter, Charlotta Holt of Amarillo and Brenda; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Canyon Mildred Simmons Mildred Simmons, 71, of Canyon, died Tuesday, April 28, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in University Church of Christ with David Lough, minister, and Brad Thompson, youth minister, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mrs. Simmons was born in Bailey, Okla. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School in Oklahoma City and attended Abilene Christian College and Western Texas Junior College. She married Ray Simmons in 1947 at Abilene. Mrs. Simmons had been a Canyon resident since 1979. She was a member of University Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Lonny Simmons of Seguin and Jonny Simmons of Canyon; two sisters, Clarita Bellberry and Juana Watson, both of Abilene; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Howard was born in Shawnee, Okla. She was a 1948 graduate of Borger High School. She moved to Pampa in 1962. She was involved with the Pampa Meals on Wheels, the Pampa Country Club Women's Golf Association, the Parent Teacher Association and the Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She also was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a leader in her Sunday school class. She married Paul Howard in 1952 at Borger. Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Paulette Edgar of Oklahoma City, Pam Deeds and Misti Howard, both of Amarillo, Linda Enloe of De Soto and Lisa Wills of Pampa; a sister, De Ann Hill of Wagoner, Okla.; and nine grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the Pampa Meals on Wheels or First Baptist Church. Paul Morgan SHAMROCK - Paul Morgan, 86, died Monday, April 27, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in First Baptist Church Chapel with the Rev. Joe G. Jernigan, pastor of Calvary Christian Fellowship Church, officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. in Memorial Park Cemetery in Amarillo by Wright Funeral Directors. Mr. Morgan was born in Eakly, Okla. He moved to Shamrock in 1920 from Eakly. He graduated from Shamrock High School in 1929. He farmed and ranched for many years. He then began working in the oil and gas business. He worked for Field's Oil Co. before retiring. He was a member of the Odd Fellows in Shamrock. Survivors include a daughter, Paula Blair of Arlington; two sisters, Lee Cripe of Torrance, Calif., and Elsie Pennington of Magnolia; and a granddaughter. The family requests memorials be to Shamrock Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 221, Shamrock, Texas 79079. Bill McEvers DALHART - Bill McEvers, 87, died Monday, April 27, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Christian Church with Ray M. Guy, minister, and Chad Barnett, associate minister, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home. Mr. McEvers was born in Lawrenceburg, Tenn. He was raised in Kansas and Illinois. He married Mildred Hoffman in 1932 at Boise City, Okla. They farmed in the Rehm community before moving to Dalhart in 1946. Mr. McEvers was a carpenter and building contractor in Dalhart before retiring in 1975. He was a member of the local Carpenter's Union for more than 50 years. He was a member of First Christian Church. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Duane McEvers of Amarillo and Larry McEvers of Dalhart; a daughter, JoAnn Bell of Lake Meredith; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two greatgreat-grandchildren.
