No services are scheduled. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Ms. Binford was born in Amarillo and had lived on the Binford Ranch, northwest of Wildorado, most of her life. She graduated from Vega High School at Vega and from Texas Tech University at Lubbock. She taught school in Lubbock for one year before returning to the 10,000-acre family ranch to help work during the war. She was active in rodeos as a sponsored "Sweetheart" for the Range Riders of Amarillo. She was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and had raised, shown and raced horses for many years. Ms. Binford was a charter member of the Girls' Rodeo Association and sponsored the first all-girl rodeo in Amarillo which was called the Tri-State All Girl Rodeo. She was a producer of all-girl shows in Colorado Springs, Colo., San Angelo, Seymour and two in Amarillo. She also helped organize the American Quarter Horse Association and the National Cutting Horse Association. She won the world's championship in cutting horse competition and in roping in 1950 and was inducted in the Cowgirl Hall of Fame in 1979. She also had owned and managed a western store in Amarillo, Chaparral Racing Stables and a race horse stable at Mesa Park in Raton, N.M. She served on many community boards and helped with the 4H organization. Survivors include a niece, Mary Ann Hayes-Mordau of Helena, Mont.; and two nephews, William E. Hayes of White Fish, Mont., and James Hayes of Sandy Valley, Nev. The body will not be available for viewing. Richard Clayton Adams Richard Clayton "Clay" Adams, 17, of Amarillo, died Sunday, July 26, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Rector Funeral Home Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St., with the Rev. Terry C. Lowe, associate pastor of St. Stephen United Methodist Church, officiating. Cremation will follow services. Clay was born in Jackson, Miss., and moved to Amarillo last year. He attended Pearl High School at Jackson where he had played basketball. He worked for Sonic at Interstate 27 and Washington Street and was a Baptist. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Terry and Cecile Thalman of the home; a sister, Jewel Tristina "Trish" Thalman of the home; grandparents, Howard and Lucille Covington of Atlanta; and great-grandmother, Annie Jewel Hildebrand of Yazoo City, Miss. The family will be at 4049 Concho. Maggie L. Campbell Maggie L. Campbell, 86, of Amarillo, died Monday, July 27, 1998. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Campbell was born in Alabama and had lived in Amarillo for more than 45 years. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. The family will be at 1036 Ricks. Anjel Ramos Anjel Ramos, 40, of Amarillo, died Sunday, July 26, 1998. He was self-employed as a welder and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. He married Anna Baca in 1975 at Irvine, Calif. C.L. Harmon C.L. "Vern" Harmon, 73, of Amarillo, died Monday, July 27, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 Bell St., with Dr. J. Pat Kennedy of St. Luke Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery with military rites by Disabled American Veterans Chapter No. 26. Mr. Harmon was born in Carmen, Okla., and attended Cheyenne Valley High School. He was an Army veteran of the Battle of Okinawa in World War II where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, Marksman Asiatic Pacific and Combat Infantryman Badge. In 1960, he moved to Amarillo from Waynoka, Okla. Mr. Harmon retired as a conductor from Santa Fe Railroad. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1475 and the American Legion. Oklahoma Ivan Eugene Macormic GUYMON, Okla. - Ivan Eugene "Gene" Macormic, 78, died Monday, July 27, 1998. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in the Nazarene Church with Terry Armstrong, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home. Mr. Macormic was born in Newburg, Mo. He graduated from Newburg High School in 1937 and attended Panhandle State University. He served with the Navy during World War II. He married Reba Frances Clark in 1938 at Okmulgee. They moved to Guymon in 1946. He was a self-employed contractor/carpenter, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Panhandle Bible Center. Survivors include his wife; a son, Bill Macormic of Guymon; a daughter, Sandra Bookout of Guymon; a sister, Mary Nash of Newburg, Mo.; and four grandchildren. New Mexico Harol David Beevers CLOVIS, N.M. - Harol David "H.D." Beevers, 54, died Monday, July 27, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at The Chapel, 1500 Thornton, with the Rev. Coy Brewer officiating. Burial will be in Beevers Cemetery at Forrest, N.M. by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Beevers was born in Tucumcari. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. After his discharge, he was employed by Santa Fe Railway for 29 years. Survivors include his wife, Debbie; two daughters, Angie Gault of Clovis and Day Dupre' of Hobbs; his mother, Marie Beevers of Tucumcari; a stepson, Jack Beaulieu; a brother, Doug Beevers of Tucumcari; a sister, Maryilyn Linsey of Austin, Texas; and four grandchildren. Mr. Barela was born in Clovis and was a veteran of the Navy. He was employed as a land surveyor by Pettigrew and Associates. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Community and American Legion Post 36 at Santa Rosa. He married Mary Maldonado in 1988 at Farwell, Texas. Survivors include three sons, Luis Antonio Barela, Jimmy Lee Barela and Albert Ray Cortez, all of Clovis; a daughter, Rozane Duran of Clovis; two stepchildren, Juan Gabral Costillo of Amarillo and Dolores Ann Barela of Clovis; his parents, Moises and Manuelita Barela of Clovis; two brothers, James Barela of Santa Rosa and Gilbert Barela of Clovis; four sisters, Joan Gallegos, Alba Lopez and Connie Rios, all of Clovis, and Barbara Flores of Hereford, Texas; and a granddaughter. Thelma Jean Pottard CLOVIS, N.M. - Thelma Jean Pottard, 74, died Monday, July 27, 1998. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in St. John's Baptist Church with the Rev. Fred R. Williams officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens by Muffley Funeral Home. Mrs. Pottard was born in Tulsa and moved to Clovis in 1930. She owned Pottard Produce Stand and retired from the Clovis Municipal Schools as a bus driver. She was a member of St. John's Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star Rose of Sharon Chapter and was president of the Federated Women's Club in Clovis. She married Ira Pottard in 1947 at Clovis. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Shirley Handy of Clovis; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Canyon Anthony Fraser Anthony Fraser, 17, of Canyon, died Saturday, July 25. Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church of Canyon with Mark Britten and Barry Gilbert officiating. Burial will be in Childress by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mr. Fraser was born in Amarillo. He attended school in Canyon. Mrs. Qualls was born in Brownfield. She attended schools in Brownfield and Meadow. She was a homemaker and a retired nursery worker. She married Paul E. Qualls Sr. in 1960 at Lovington, N.M. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Paul Qualls Jr. and Guy Qualls, both of Montgomery, Ill., and Jamey Qualls of Plainview; stepmother, Willadean Nickelson of Calvin, Okla.; two sisters, Linda Lawrence of Calvin and Betty Harbour of Boonesville, Ark.; a brother, Raymond DeBusk Jr. of Allen, Okla.; and three grandsons. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa with Larry Washburn, family member, officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Hall was born in Bald Knob, Ark., and had been a Dumas resident since 1981. She lived in Amarillo for a year and was a longtime Phillips resident. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. She married Jessie D. Hall in 1931 at Lovington, N.M. He preceded her in death in 1997. Survivors include two daughters, Claudean Graves of Dumas and Barbara Franks of Amarillo; two sons, Jerry Dean Hall and George M. Hall, both of Warsaw, Mo.; a sister, Lorene Bybee of Borger; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. today at Morrison Funeral Directors. "Bill" Atkinson, a former resident of Pampa and Amarillo, 59, died Tuesday, July 28, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Fairview Cemetery in Pampa with the Rev. Todd Dyess, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Pampa, officiating. Arrangements are by CarmichaelWhatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Atkinson was born in Pampa where he lived until moving to Amarillo in 1969. He later moved to Arlington in 1996. He received his bachelor of business administration degree from the University of Texas. For 20 years, he was president of Motor Inn Auto Supply in Pampa and Amarillo. Mr. Atkinson was past secretary of the Pampa Rotary Club and Pampa Youth Center. He was past director of the Top O'Texas Rodeo Association, the American Red Cross, the Pampa Country Club and the Automotive Wholesalers of Texas. He was past president of the Pampa Club, adviser for the ISTI Waco, past member of the Amarillo Rotary Club, and member of the B.F. Goodrich National Tire Council and the Walker National Distributor Council. Mr. Atkinson was a former member of First United Methodist Church of Pampa, past chairman of the First Christian Church of Pampa, was co-founder of Trinity Fellowship of Amarillo and was an adult Bible teacher for 15 years. For 10 years, he was a youth baseball coach and was a soccer coach for five years. He married Barbara Ann Dean in 1994 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; two sons, William Jarrett Atkinson and Richard Grant Atkinson, both of Amarillo; a daughter, Julie Seemanns of Amarillo; four stepsons, William Dean of Amarillo, John Dean of Houston, James Dean of Overland Park, Kan., and Patrick Dean of The Colony; a stepdaughter, Misty Dean Scott of Arlington; and nine grandchildren. Ruth Dunlap DALHART - Ruth Dunlap, 75, died Monday, July 27, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Lakeview United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Edwards, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home. Mrs. Dunlap was born in Lakeview and attended schools in the Happy-Tulia areas. She was a member of the Happy Cowgirls basketball team that went to state competition in 1939. After her marriage, Mrs. Dunlap moved to Dalhart where she was employed at various grocery stores. She served as treasurer for the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was an active member of the 55 Plus Club, the 42 Club and Lakeview United Methodist Church. For 12 years, she served on the Dalhart City Council. She married L.D. Dunlap in 1940. Survivors include a daughter, Rose Mary Ruppaner of Dalhart; four sons, Robert Dunlap and Randal Dunlap, both of Dalhart, Roy Dunlap of Amarillo and Ray Dunlap of Hartley; two sisters, Juanita McAdams of Antlers, Okla., and Ima McAdams of Dalhart; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
