Burial was in Llano Cemetery by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Campbell was born in Charlotte. She moved to Amarillo in 1983 from Zapata. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Baptist Church. She married Adrian B. Campbell in 1950 at Roswell, N.M. He died in 1995. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Iris Ann Moore, in 1990. Survivors include a son, Joe Campbell of Dallas; a daughter, Frankie Vance of Hardy, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Eusebio Perales Jr. Eusebio "Sonny" Perales Jr., 47, of Amarillo, died Friday, March 27, 1998. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Colonial Funeral Chapel, 1010 W. Ninth Ave., with Larry Floyd officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Perales had been a longtime resident of Amarillo. He was active with many of the Amarillo bingo organizations. Survivors include two daughters, Selena Perales and Brieanna Perales, both of Amarillo; his father, Eusebio Perales; his mother, Josefa Perales of Dumas; a brother, Eddie Perales; two sisters, Gloria Camerna of Amarillo and Minerva Perales of Albuquerque, N.M.; and two grandchildren. She had been employed in the accounting department of the Texas Department of Transportation and as a secretary for Prudential Insurance Company. She was a member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church, Pathfinders Sunday School class and M.E.G.S. She married Harold L. Walker in 1952 at Tyler. He died in 1976. Survivors include two daughters, Ruth E. Seymour of Sugar Land and Vickie L. Morrow of Clarendon; a son, John D. Walker of Amarillo; two brothers, Milton W. Garrett, her twin, of Winnsboro and Miles M. Garrett of New Braunfels; two sisters, Josephine Garrett of Winnsboro and Corrine Rutledge of Quitman; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Oklahoma Gayle Brower BALKO, Okla. - Gayle Delbert Brower, 76, died Thursday, March 26, 1998. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Christian Church at Perryton, Texas, with the Rev. Frank Springer officiating. Burial was be in Forgan Cemetery at Forgan by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker. Mr. Brower was born in Forgan. He attended Forgan schools until going to work as a barber in Beaver. He married Bernita Custer in 1943 at Forgan. They made their home in Balko. In 1944, Mr. Brower began working for Natural Gas Pipeline Co. of America, where he worked as an engineer until retiring in 1983. He was a member of First Christian Church of Perryton. Survivors include his wife; a son, Stanley Brower of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Rita Morris of San Antonio and Mary Isbell of Enid; three sisters, Delores Smith of Oklahoma City, Florene Parker of Elmwood and Janice Joiner of Lavernia, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to the Balko Education Fund or a favorite charity. Billy Gene Clubb Sr. GUYMON, Okla. - Billy Gene "Bill" Clubb Sr., 52, died Thursday, March 26, 1998. Mr. Clubb was born in Wellington, Texas. He graduated from Wellington High School with the class of 1964. He married Mary Katherine Connor in 1965 at Quail, Texas. They lived in Hedley, Texas, where they were involved in cotton farming for many years before moving to Spearman, Texas, in 1986. In 1989, they made their home in Guymon, where Mr. Clubb was a fieldsman for Collingwood Grain. He was a member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Debbie Martin of Guymon and Michelle Martinez of Goodwell; a son, Billy Gene Clubb Jr. of Plains, Kan.; his mother, Betty Stephens of Midwest City; four sisters, Wanda Deen of Lelia Lake, Texas, Patsy Clubb and Kim Baskey Field, both of Oklahoma City, and Dyna Lucas of Florida; three brothers, Eddie Wayne Clubb and Jimmy Ray Clubb, both of Norman, and Todd McGee of Oklahoma City; and four grandchildren. James Dambold LAWTON, Okla. - James "Jim" Dambold, 76, died Thursday, March 26, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Doc Benson of Oklahoma City officiating. Entombment will be in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Mr. Dambold was born and raised in Oklahoma City where he graduated from Central High School. He graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in architectural and structural engineering. He served as First Lieutenant with the Air Force in World War II. Mr. Dambold was a member of the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry and was a 32nd degree Mason. He was a Shriner and a 37 year member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He married Alice I. Crabtree at Dallas. Survivors include his wife; a son, John Dambold of LaFayette, La.; a daughter, Connie Russell of Athens, Ga.; a brother, Howard Dambold of Oklahoma City; a sister, Mary Ellen Dambold of Amarillo; and four grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. Opal Thomas BEAVER, Okla. - Opal Thomas, 84, died Thursday, March 26, 1998. Mrs. Thomas was born in Beaver County and was a lifelong resident. She married LaVerle Thomas in 1936 at Liberal, Kan. He died in 1991. Survivors include a son, Stanley Thomas of Beaver; a daughter, Carol Pugh of Beaver; a sister, Myrtle Lilley of Farmington, N.M.; six grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-greatgrandchild. Jor Eldon O'Neal BEAVER, Okla. - Jor Eldon O'Neal, 89, died Thursday, March 26, 1998. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Silverton Cemetery in Silverton, Texas, with Patrick O'Neal, his grandson, officiating. Arrangements are by Clark Funeral Service and Myers-Long Funeral Directors. Mr. O'Neal was born in Pilot Grove, Texas. He was a farmer. He married Gracie Pauline Parker in 1929. She died in 1989. Survivors include two daughters, Lettie Marie Hahn of Amarillo and Klela Faye Waldie of Rogers, Ark.; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Fretia A. Miller KEYES, Okla. - Fretia A. Miller, 77, died Thursday, March 26, 1998. Services will be at 2:30 p.m Monday in Church of Christ in Keyes with Johnny Knight and J.F. Carter officiating. Burial will be in Willowbar Cemetery by Cimarron Mortuary of Boise City. Mrs. Miller was born in Dalhart, Texas, and raised near Keyes. She attended Pioneer Country School and graduated from Ponca City High School. She lived in Liberal, Kan., for a short time then returned to Keyes. Mrs. Miller was a painting teacher. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She married Robert E. Miller in 1939. Survivors include a son, Robert Teryl Miller of Yukon; a daughter, LoRee Balenseifen of Keyes; a sister, Opal House of Chico, Calif.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Edna Hammontree Holliday KEYES, Okla. - Edna Hammontree Holliday, 87, of Mesa, Ariz., and a former resident of Keyes, died Monday, March 23, 1998. Services will be at 10:30 Monday in First Baptist Church with Jason Kearney and Billy Rammage officiating. Burial will be in the Willowbar Cemetery by Cimarron Mortuary of Boise City, Okla. Mrs. Holliday was born in Maysville, Ark., and moved to Liberal, Kan. at a young age. Her family moved to Cimarron County where their first home was a dug-out. She graduated from Cimarron County High School in 1929. She received her bachelor of science degree from Panhandle State University. Mrs. Holliday's teaching career began at age 19 in country schools where she taught eight grades and was janitor. She taught first and second grades in Keyes and Felt then later taught high school in Campo, Colo. Mrs. Holliday was a charter member of Keyes Baptist Church. She was church organist for Gilbert Baptist Church and a Sunday School teacher. She was a lifetime member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Retired Teachers Association. With her husband, she managed a lumber mill in Arizona. She married Ralph Holliday in 1952 who preceded her in death. She married her first husband, Ira Lick, in 1941. Survivors include a daughter, Carol Meadors; two sisters, Mildred Williams and Emily Snider; and two grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to First Baptist Church in Keyes which may be left at the funeral home. Frank Ocie Hine OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Frank Ocie Hine, 70, died Saturday, March 28, 1998. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Dalhart, Texas, by Vondel L. Smith & Son Mortuary. Mr. Hine was born in Channing, Texas, and was a longtime Oklahoma City resident. He received his degree in geological engineering from Tulsa University in 1955. In 1986, he retired after more than 30 years of service for Amoco as a geological engineer. He was a member of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church. He married Martha Lou Walker who preceded him in death. Survivors include a son, Frank Ocie Hine Jr. of Englewood, Colo.; a daughter, Judy Hine Vargas of Taos, N.M.; three brothers, Grady Hine of Springer, N.M., Glen Hine of Tulsa and David Hine of Amarillo; and two granddaughters. Canyon Arthur M. Roberts Lorraine Penick Roberts Arthur M. Roberts, 83, and Lorraine Penick Roberts, 85, both of Canyon, died Thursday, March 26, 1998, near Abilene. Joint services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First United Methodist Church of Canyon with the Rev. Richard Bales, pastor, and the Rev. Kevin Deckard, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mr. and Mrs. Roberts were married in 1940 at Liberal, Kan. They had lived in Canyon since 1946. They were members of First United Methodist Church. Mr. Roberts was born in Gatesville. He attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock for two years. He was a self-employed welder in Canyon for more than 30 years. He was a Navy veteran and a member of the Canyon Lions Club. Mrs. Roberts was born in Madison, Ga. She graduated from West Texas State Teachers College in Canyon with a degree in education. She taught school in Tulia and Plainview. She also was a bookkeeper for the family business, Art Roberts Welding, in Canyon. Mr. Roberts' survivors include a sister, Ouida Henry of Amarillo; and two brothers, Glendon Roberts of Bandera and Bill Roberts of Amarillo. Mrs. Roberts' survivors include a sister, Marsene Ford of Amarillo. The family requests memorials be to First United Methodist Church of Canyon or a favorite charity. Area Oscar Whitby DALHART - Oscar "Kay" Whitby, 82, died Friday, March 27, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Christian Church with Ray M. Guy, minister of First Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home. Mr. Whitby was born in Strawn. He moved to Dalhart with his family in 1921 from Oklahoma City. He graduated from Dalhart High School in 1933 and attended Amarillo College. He retired from the Rock Island Railroad in 1977 after working 37 years as a conductor. He obtained his real estate broker's license in 1952 and was active with the firm of Golden Heritage Real Estate. Mr. Whitby was a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Elks Lodge and a charter member of the XIT Rangers Association. He served on the Dalhart Theater Board and acted in several theater productions. He was a member of the Friends of the Library and assisted in the planning and executing of the library building at its new location. He served on the board of the DallamHartley Historical Museum as well as the Dallam-Hartley Child Development Center. He was a longtime member of First Christian Church. Mr. Whitby married Coye McClendon in 1936 at Dalhart. Survivors include his wife; a son, Mike Whitby of Aurora, Colo.; a daughter, Pam Strong of Dalhart; two sisters, Ruth Adelle Olney of Niland, Calif., and Helen Aline Parks of Snyder; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family will be at 1301 Denrock. They request memorials be to the Dalhart LaRita Theater. A.W. Hegstrom PERRYTON - A.W. "Al" Hegstrom, 95, died Thursday, March 26, 1998. Services will be Tuesday in Salem Lutheran Church at Buffalo, N.Y. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery at Orchard Park, N.Y. Local arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton. Mr. Hegstrom was born in Buffalo. He moved to the Perryton area five years ago from Buffalo. He worked for Bethlehem Steel in billing and lading. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church at Buffalo. His wife, Minnie Tonivas, died in 1996. Survivors include a daughter-in-law of Perryton; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Letha Lamkin Burleson CHANNING - Letha Lamkin Burleson, 84, died Thursday, March 26, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Morrison Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel at Dumas with James Edwards, pastor of United Methodist Churches at Lakeview and Channing, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Dalhart. Mrs. Burleson was born in Ochiltree County and had lived in Channing since 1951. She served as the Hartley County Treasurer from 1950 to 1962. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Edward Lamkin, in 1949; husband, Rufus C. "Jack" Burleson, in 1981; and two sons, Charles Eugene Lamkin in 1994 and Bob Lamkin in October. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara A. Head of Bentonville, Ark.; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. The family will be at 210 E. 7th in Channing. They request memorials be to St. Mary's Hospice, 1200 W. Walnut, Rogers, Ark. 72756. Edwin Earl Mitchell PLAINVIEW - Edwin Earl Mitchell, 85, died Thursday, March 26, 1998. Services were at 2 p.m. Saturday in Parkview Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe P. Weldon, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Plainview Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Mitchell was born in Plainview. He worked in the building trade. As a young man, he was a member of the crew that constructed the Hoover Dam in Nevada. During World War II, he served as a White House guard under Franklin D. Roosevelt. Mr. Mitchell was a volunteer fireman and later served in the police force at Plainview. He was a Baptist. He married Velma Loyd in 1938 at Vega. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Earline Moore and Barbara Bass, both of Lubbock, and Pat Parrish of Crosbyton; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Anna Lee Black PAMPA - Anna Lee Black, 78, died Thursday, March, 26, 1998. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Teeter officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home Inc., 4100 S. Georgia St., in Amarillo. Mrs. Black was born in Cordell, Okla., and had lived in Pampa since 1960. She was a secretary and song leader for Harrah United Methodist Church before combining with St. Paul United Methodist Church. She married Earl Black in 1941 at Clinton, Okla. Mrs. Black was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Earlene Yates of Amarillo; and a granddaughter. Burial will be in Castro Memorial Gardens by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home. Mrs. Strother was born in Elbert. She lived in Collin County before moving to Dimmitt in 1946. She taught school in Fairy for two years and in Dimmitt for 25 years before retiring in 1982. She was a member of First Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for many years. She also was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Retired Teachers Association. She married Raleigh Strother in 1942 at Lanham. She was preceded in death by a son, Mac B. Strother, in February. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Phoebe Strother of Amarillo and Leigh Strother-Vien of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; two brothers, Frank "Rowdy" Martin of Lamar, Colo., and Lewis Martin of Amarillo; and two sisters, Fay Chappell of Hamilton and Winnie Chappell of Nocona. She was a nurse's aide and a school bus driver. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church. She married Ben Fought in 1970 at Boise, Okla. Roy Alvin Edwards SILVERTON - Roy Alvin "Eddie" Edwards, 77, of Weatherford, a former Silverton resident, died Thursday, March 26, 1998. Services were at 4 p.m. Friday in Cotten-Bratton Funeral Directors Chapel in Weatherford. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Silverton Cemetery by Myers-Long Funeral Directors. Mr. Edwards was born in Lamesa. He was a former resident of Silverton and had been a resident of Weatherford for the last 27 years. He retired in 1995 after many years as a salesperson with Lawn and Garden. He was a member of South Main Church of Christ, the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge. Mr. Edward was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the USS Lexington. Survivors include his wife, Mae Edwards; three sons, Fred Edwards of Amarillo, Tommy Edwards of Dalhart and Gary Edwards of Wagon Mound, N.M.; three stepchildren, T.D. Greer of Weatherford, and Linda Bourland and Debra Barton; two sisters, Corene Corley of Arlington and Bonnie Chilton Hale of Center; 14 grandchildren; and several greatgrandchildren. Vena Hopkins PAMPA - Vena Hopkins, 95, died Saturday, March 28, 1998. Mrs. Hopkins was born in Darden, Tenn., and had been a resident of Pampa since 1934. She was a Baptist. She married Art Hopkins in 1923 at Hobart, Okla. He died in 1977. She also was preceded in death by a son, Ralph W. Hopkins. Survivors include a son, Troy Hopkins of Miami; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Hart Cemetery by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home in Dimmitt. Mr. Tenorio was born in Molton. He moved to Hart from Flatonia in 1953. He had been employed by Dimmitt Agri Industries from 1985 until 1996. He was a Catholic and a member of St. John's Catholic Church. He married Oralia Gutierrez in 1991 at Dimmitt. She then taught physical education at Bitburg Elementary School at Bitburg Air Force Base in Germany. After graduating in 1949 as valedictorian, senior class president and class favorite at Amarillo High School, he went to Yale University, where he received his bachelor of arts degree with Phi Beta Kappa honors in 1953. He played football while he attended Yale. He was selected as a Rhodes Scholar. He then attended Merton College at Oxford University and earned another bachelor of arts in 1955. After returning to the states, Mr. Garner attended the University of Texas law school and earned his law degree in 1958. During high school, Mr. Garner was named the 1949 Texas Outstanding High School Football Player by the Texas Sportswriters Association and received All-American honors. In 1975, he was inducted into the Amarillo High School Sandie Hall of Fame. In 1986, he was named to the Dallas Morning News AllTime Texas High School Football Team. Mr. Garner was a member of the American Association of Rhodes Scholars, the El Paso and American bar associations and the State Bar of Texas. For many years, he was active and served as an officer in Kiwanis International. Mr. Garner was a retired shareholder in the El Paso law firm of Kemp, Smith, Duncan & Hammond. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia "Tita" Gillett Garner. Survivors include three daughters, Robin Garner Langford and Ruth Garner Marshall, both of El Paso, and Susan Garner Treen of Corpus Christi; a brother, Robert S. Mr. Roberson was born and raised in Petersburg and graduated from Petersburg High School. He was a pilot for the Army Air Corps, flying B-17s during World War II. When he was discharged from the Army, he started farming in the Petersburg area. Mr. Roberson was a county commissioner in Precinct 2 in Hale County for 28 years. He was a past president of the Association of County Judges and the Commissioners of Texas. He was a director of First State Bank in Petersburg and a director of the Federal Land Bank Association for 28 years. He was a member of the Petersburg Lions Club and the Petersburg Masonic Lodge. He also was a member of the Petersburg First United Methodist Church. He married Virginia Sue Roberson in 1946 at Petersburg. She died in 1968. Survivors include a daughter, Janet Ann Roberson of New York City; a son, Douglas Roberson of Austin; a brother, Kenneth Alwyn Roberson of Petersburg; and a sister, Joan Douglas of Lubbock. Mr. Hubbard retired as a grain elevator manager. He was a lay chaplain at the Methodist Hospital. He was a member of Buffalo Springs Lake Community Church where he was song leader. He was a basketball referee and a member of Southwest Basketball Officials Association and the Idalou Jaycees. He married Oleta Byers in 1948 at Littlefield. Survivors include his wife; a son, Larry Hubbard of Bethesda, Md.; two daughters, Bobleta Cleere of Midland and Dusty Milanes of Amarillo; a sister, Billie Thompson of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
