Services were at 10 a.m. today in First Baptist Church with Chester O'Brien of the church officiating. Burial was in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Barnard was born in Hedley and moved to Amarillo in 1940. She graduated from Amarillo High School. After 39 years, she retired as manager of operator services of Southwestern Bell Telephone. She was a member of the American Business Women's Association, First Baptist Church, First Baptist Church Heritage Choir and Southwestern Bell Telephone Pioneers. She married Leon Barnard in 1947 in Amarillo. He preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Janeann Mott of Amarillo; a son, Dale L. Barnard of Amarillo; her mother, Elsie Burdine of Amarillo; two sisters, Rouena Montgomery and Ralene Talley, both of Amarillo; and three grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the American Cancer Society, 3915 S. Bell, Amarillo, TX 79109. OWEN Francis Elvina Owen Francis Elvina Owen, 80, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Rector Funeral Home Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St., with Sister Mary Morrisey of Crown of Texas Hospice officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Owen was born in Pauls Valley, Okla., and moved to the Texas Panhandle in a covered wagon. She moved to Amarillo in 1944 from Hereford. She worked as a private duty nurse for 35 years. She was a former member of the Line Avenue Baptist Church and was a member of Souls Harbor Church. She married Ollie "Judge" Owen in Hereford. He died in 1975. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Kirby Faye Wheeler in 1987 and a stepson, Jimmy Owen in 1981. Survivors include a sister, Eunice Horner of Friona; three grandchildren, Vivian Smith, Stanley D. Wheeler Jr., and Sharyn K. Delgado, all of Amarillo; and eight great-grandchildren. Mitzi Gamez Gonzales Mitzi Gamez Gonzales, 47, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday and today in Rose Chapel of Gililland-Watson Funeral Home at Hereford. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in La Iglesia de San Jose Catholic Church at Hereford by the Rev. Domingo Castillo. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery at Hereford. Mrs. Gonzales was born in Hereford and moved to Amarillo in 1980 from Hereford. She graduated from Hereford schools and received an associates degree from Amarillo College. She was a teacher and worked with the Head Start program in Hereford and also at St. Laurence in Amarillo. She attended St. Laurence Catholic Church. She married Salvador Gonzales in 1996 in Amarillo. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Cindy Skinner of Amarillo; two sisters, Connie Balderaz of Amarillo and Noemi Aguirre of Hereford; five brothers, Ismael Gamez, James Gamez and Joaquin Gamez, all of Hereford, Benjamin Gamez of Phoenix and Servio Gamez of Amarillo; and three grandchildren. BRACKEEN D.L. Brackeen D.L. Brackeen, 77, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia with Windell Taylor, chaplain at Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Brackeen was born in Ranger and moved to Amarillo in 1942. He graduated from Wichita Falls High School. He purchased City Machine and Welding in 1959, which was first opened by S.S. Siebel in 1929. Mr. Brackeen sold the business in 1976 to Diamond Shamrock Corp., and bought it back around 1980. He sold his interest in the business again and retired in 1989. He was an Air Corps veteran of World War II. He married Billye P. Mills in 1942 at Sayre, Okla. Survivors include his wife; and a sister, Beryl Durrett of Arlington. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. Myrl McDowell Robertson Myrl McDowell Robertson, 87, of Bushland, died Friday, Nov. 27, 1998. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. George Haddox, pastor of Cliffside Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Robertson was born in Moore County and had lived in Amarillo most of her life. She owned the Amarillo Gold Sox during the 1950s. She also was the owner/operator of Beck Bros. Boot Shop, Apache Saddlery and Frontier Western Wear. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the First Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Duke Robertson in 1985 and her daughter, Della Marie Adams in 1993. Survivors include three grandchildren, Robert Adams of Bushland, Shawna Hammonds of Amarillo and Joette Luck of Canyon. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park at Lubbock by Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock. Mrs. Honeycutt was born in Steelman, Okla. She worked as a nurse, retiring from Methodist Hospital. She married Cordie Honeycutt in 1930 at Cold Springs, Okla. He died in 1991. She also was preceded in death by a son, Ray Honeycutt on Nov. 13. Survivors include a son, Larry Honeycutt of Lubbock; three daughters, Juanita Jones of Terrell, Lynn Redwine of Panhandle and Kay Lindsey of Shallowater; two sisters, Ann Walker of Lawton, Okla., and Almeda Marshall of Cache, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. New Mexico Loren Herman Rosson CLOVIS, N.M. - Loren Herman Rosson, 84, died Friday, Nov. 27, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Parkland Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Brooks and Dr. Herbert Bergstrom officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mr. Rosson was born in Fort Smith, Ark., and moved to Cushing, Okla., where he attended school. He moved from Wellington, Kan., in 1942 to Clovis. In 1975, he retired from Santa Fe Railway. He was a member of Parkland Baptist Church and the United Transportation Union. He married Betty Jo Harscher in 1939 at Cushing. Survivors include his wife; three children, Pat Lacewel of Lubbock, Texas, Loren Rosson of Nashua, N.H., and Sandy Williams of Clovis; a brother, Wade Rosson of Mesa, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Delbert Eugene Stelzig CLOVIS, N.M. - Delbert Eugene "Dee" Stelzig, 55, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 1998. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in The Chapel, 1500 Thornton with David Swann officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Terrace Memorial Park at Farwell, Texas by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. Stelzig was born in Clovis where he was a lifetime resident. He was a Navy veteran of Vietnam. He was a self-employed carpenter and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3015. He married Gay Slaughter on October 24. Mrs. Clark was born in Wideman, Ark., and moved to Richardson about four years ago from Borger. She had lived in Borger since 1932. She had worked at Latimer's Grocery, Piggly Wiggly Grocery and Holt Grocery. She was a charter member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Borger. She married Buford E. Clark in 1926 at Wideman. He died in 1991. She also was preceded in death by a son, Buford "Boots" Clark Jr. in October. Survivors include her husband; four sons, Ramiro Rodriquez and Gilbert Mike Rodriquez, both of Amarillo and Israel Rodriquez and Robert Rodriquez, both of Hereford; three daughters, Rose Mary Soliz of Amarillo, Susan Rodriquez of Hereford and Betty Lira of Dumas; two brothers, Ernest Reyes of Pleasanton and Benito Reyes of Clovis, N.M.; three sisters, Eva Romo of Hereford, Maria Mireles of Poteet and Olivia Reyes of Pleasanton; 17 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. J.W. Rucker CHILDRESS - J.W. Rucker, 89, died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Childress Cemetery with the Rev. Kerry Wood, minister of music at First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Johnson Funeral Home. Mr. Rucker was born in the Shorescreek community. He was the owner/operator of Ruckers O.K. Tire in Childress for 50 years. He was active in Old Settlers Association for 25 years and served on the board of directors and as president for one term. He and his wife, Quixie, were King and Queen of Old Settlers in 1993. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Childress for 60 years. He had been married to Quixie Blair for 70 years before her death in 1996. Survivors include a son, Vern Rucker of Childress; a daughter, Carol Scott of Amarillo; a sister, Dealva Henson of Elkland, Mo.; two brothers, Ralph Rucker of Floydada and Troy Rucker of Redding, Calif.; and three grandchildren. Albert M. Null VEGA - Albert M. Null, 63, died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998. Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Vega First Baptist Church with the Rev. James Peach, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Vega Funeral Home. Mr. Null was born in Kelton. He graduated from Tulia High School and received his bachelor's degree in agriculture from Baylor University. He farmed and ranched and had lived in Happy for 27 years. He moved to Vega eight months ago from Amarillo. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Knoxie Katherine Dilger. Survivors include a daughter, Melissa Pascal of Amarillo; a stepson, Tommy Pittillo of Amarillo; his mother, Gladys Kemper of Vega; a sister, Effie Harle of Vega; and six grandchildren.
