Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Grand Avenue Baptist Church, 904 N. Grand, with the Rev. Calvin Powell and the Rev. Allen Norris officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. Taylor was born in Erath County. She moved to Amarillo in 1943 from Childress. She was a homemaker and member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church. She married Ira Lee Taylor in 1937 at Hardeman County. She was preceded in death by a stepson, Robert F. Taylor, in 1997. Survivors include her husband; a stepdaughter, Adelle Jenson of Alamogordo, N.M.; a niece, Mary Warren of Amarillo; and a nephew, Aubrey Simpson of Amarillo. Virginia Ruth Layton Virginia Ruth Layton, 83, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Schooler Funeral Home Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia, with the Rev. Dean Wynn of St. Stephen United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Ms. Layton was born in Amarillo and lived in California for many years before moving back to Amarillo over 30 years ago. She was a homemaker and a Methodist. Survivors include two sisters, Vera Mae Brown of Amarillo and Sunshine Marie Warren of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother John G. Marshall of Las Vegas; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Elsewhere Murl Stone LUBBOCK - Murl Stone, 63, died Monday, Dec. 28, 1998. Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Resthaven Memorial Park with Jim Price officiating. Burial was by Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock. Mrs. Stone was born in Plainview and was an attendant for the CLASS program. She married John Stone in 1958. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Jonna Ward of Lubbock; four sisters, Peg Lay and Jane Wilks of Olton, Zoe Drake of Lubbock and Nadine Ishmael of Lake Leon; two brothers, Jim Bond of Fort Worth and Jack Bond of Lake Kiowa; and two granddaughters. The family suggests memorials be to Hospice of Lubbock, P.O. Box 53276, Lubbock, TX 79453. Area Harvey Bailey MIAMI - Harvey Lee Bailey, 68, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998. Services will be at 10 am. Saturday in First United Methodist Church of Miami with the Rev. Jerry Moore, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Gruver, the Rev. Tom Moore, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Groom, and the Rev. Steve Patterson, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Miami, officiating. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Flag presentation will be by Gary Pettit of the American Legion. Mr. Bailey was born in Miami, where he was a lifelong resident. He married Shizuko Mochizuki in 1954 at Tokyo. Mr. Bailey served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He owned and operated Bailey's Oil & Conoco, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 106 of Miami and First United Methodist Church of Miami. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Emmy Bean of Germany; two brothers, Royce Bailey and Wiley Bailey, both of Miami; and two granddaughters. The family requests memorials be to First United Methodist Church of Miami or Hemphill County Hospice. A.T. Morgan DIMMITT - A.T. "Buster" Morgan, 80, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church of Dimmitt with the Rev. Gary Morgan, pastor of First Baptist Church in Bovina, officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Mr. Morgan was born in Winters, where he was raised and attended school. He lived in Amherst and then moved to Fieldton in 1947. In 1950, he moved to Dimmitt where he farmed. He moved to Bovina in 1977 until his retirement in 1998, when he returned to Dimmitt. Mr. Morgan was a member of First Baptist Church of Dimmitt where he was a deacon. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Mearle Holmes in 1945 at McGregor. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Randy Morgan and Ricky Morgan, both of Dimmitt; a daughter, Deanna Coorner of Oklahoma City; three brothers, Earl Morgan and "Red" Morgan, both of Amherst, and Horace Morgan of Muleshoe; a sister, Velma Howell of Duncanville; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Gideons Bible Fund or First Baptist Church of Dimmitt. Alberta Woods PAMPA - Alberta V. Woods, 89, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at St. Mark C.M.E. Church, 406 Elm St., Pampa, with the Rev. I.L. Patrick, pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church in Pampa, the Rev. Maurice Burks, Antioch Fellowship in Amarillo, and the Rev. T.J. Patterson, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Pampa, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Pampa by Warford-Walker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes St. in Amarillo. Ms. Woods was a native of New Boston. She had been a resident of Pampa for more than 60 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, Edward "Jack" Woods of Crosbyton, William Kyle "Sonny" Wood of Denver and Ronale "Tim" Woods of Pampa; three daughters, Irish Woods-Streat of Panhandle, Henry Lois McKinnon of Wellington and Warnza Demerson of Amarillo; 23 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren. A wake service was Wednesday in the Warford-Walker Mortuary Chapel. The family will be at 1104 Varnon St. in Pampa. Joe Taylor Sr. MCLEAN - Joe Bailey Taylor Sr., 91, died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church in McLean with the Rev. James Martindale and the Rev. Dr. Buell Wells officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean by Lamb Funeral Home. Mr. Taylor was born in Sweetwater and had lived in McLean for 48 years. He was a rancher, a barber and deacon at the First Baptist Church in McLean. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna. Survivors include three sons, Dan J. Taylor of McLean and Don B. Taylor and Joe B. Taylor Jr., both of Hereford; two daughters, Lynn Ellen Taylor of Amarillo and Louvera Dilbeck of Lubbock; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Dorothy Beatrice Greenhouse BORGER - Dorothy Beatrice Greenhouse, 92, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today at Wheeler Cemetery in Wheeler with the Rev. Rob Lindley, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Ms. Greenhouse was born in Rayland and was a resident of Borger for 20 years. She was a retired clerk at Russ Department Store in Wheeler and a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include two nephews, James Woosley of Borger and Richard Woosley of Lubbock; two nieces, Pat Warren and Donna Jenkins, both of Borger; and 11 great-nephews and nieces. Paul Dean Baker PANHANDLE - Paul "Cuz" Dean Baker, 63, died Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Fouts Funeral Home Chapel in Dunlap, Iowa. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dunlap. Local arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Baker was born in Dunlap and worked for Iowa Beef Processors in Denison, Iowa, for 15 years prior to transferring to the Amarillo plant. He moved to Panhandle from Dunlap in 1985. He was a veteran of the Navy and served as a Seabee in Guam. He was a member of the American Legion. He married Doratt Vandivortin 1963. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Paula Duckett of Amarillo and Myra Baker of Hinton, Iowa; a sister, LaVonne James of Rio Hondo; a brother, Robert Baker of Woodbine, Iowa; and two grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and Life Enrichment Center, First United Methodist Church of Panhandle, or to the American Legion of Iowa.
