Services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First Christian Church, with the Rev. Ray M. Guy, senior minister, officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home. Miss Sears was born and raised in Dalhart and graduated from Dalhart High School in 1955. She had worked for more than 40 years at the Citizens State Bank, also known as Bank of America. She was a member of the First Christian Church. Survivors include a brother, Marvin Sears of Dalhart. Lloyd E. Ash EARTH - Lloyd E. Ash, 63, of Richardson, a former Earth resident, died Sunday, June 27, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Church of Christ at Earth with Floyd Stanley of Rogers, Ark., and King Burney, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Earth Memorial Cemetery at Earth by Parsons-Ellis Funeral Home of Earth. Mr. Ash was a resident of the Tipton Home at Tipton, Okla., from 1941 until 1949. He graduated from Big Lake High School at Big Lake. He received a bachelor's degree, a master's degree and did post graduate work from Abilene Christian University at Abilene. He had been a Church of Christ minister for churches in Abilene, Anson, Abernathy and Earth. He also was a salesman and a writer. Survivors include a son, Anthony L. Ash of Corsicana; a daughter, Tonya A. Vallo of Ferris; his mother, Lillie Ash of Lamesa; five sisters, Louise Griffin of Dallas, Iona Martin of Earth, Edwana Owen of Muskogee, Okla., Weldeana Harper of Austin, and Gloria Duke of Lamesa; and five grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity or the Tipton Home, P.O. Box 370, Tipton, OK 73570-9989. Ralph E. McIlvain PERRYTON - Ralph E. McIlvain, 78, died Wednesday, June 30, 1999. Mr. McIlvain was born in Kansas and moved to the area in 1947 from Madison, Kan. He worked as a mechanic and television repairman. For 22 years, he owned a television repair shop. He was a Mason. He married Bonnie Stangle in 1948 at Borger. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Arlia McManis of Cripple Creek, Colo., and Patricia Hartzell of Tacoma, Wash.; a son, Robert Barb of Long Beach, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo with the Rev. Trey Robertson, pastor of First Southern Baptist Church of Fritch, officiating. Arrangements are by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch. Mr. Satterfield was born in Port, Okla., moved to Amarillo in 1948 then moved to Fritch in 1976. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church of Fritch. For 321/2 years, he was in security for Mason and Hanger at the Pantex Plant. Mr. Satterfield also was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 731 in Amarillo, the Khiva Temple and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Amarillo. During World War II, he served in the Navy. He married Sue Daniels in 1950 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Leslie Howard of Amarillo and Sydney Couch of Edmond, Okla.; and three grandchildren. Edwards, 82, died Tuesday, June 29, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Assembly of God in Shamrock with Gary Griffin, pastor of Joplin, Mo., officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors of Shamrock. Mr. Edwards was born in Oklahoma and had lived in Shamrock since 1942. He was an Army veteran. He worked for Davis Motor Freight and Valta Tarbet as a truck driver. Mr. Edwards also was employed by Tindall Gin and service station and Payne's Plumbing. He was a member of the Assembly of God. He married Ruby Keys in 1940 at Hollis, Okla. He was preceded in death by a son, Carlos, in February. Mrs. Campbell was born in Cherokee, Okla., and was a longtime resident of Clovis. She was a member of Central Baptist Church. She married Leroy Campbell in 1932 at Wichita, Kan. She was preceded in death by two sons, David Campbell and Stanley Campbell. Survivors include her husband; a son, John Campbell of Albuquerque; two brothers, Johnny Millender of Sunnyvale, Calif., and Harold Millender of Richmond, Calif.; a sister, Josephine Mercer of Conway Springs, Kan.; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Cherokee First Christian Church in Cherokee with the Rev. Ed Jones officiating. Local services will be at 10:30 Friday in First United Methodist Church in Clayton with the Rev. Andy Husted, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton. Mr. Dickens was born near Capron, Okla., on the farm his father staked in the Oklahoma Land Rush of 1893. He attended grade school in Capron and graduated from Gage High School in 1927. In 1932, he graduated with a bachelor of science degree from Oklahoma A&M, where he was on the collegiate swim team. After graduation, Mr. Dickens taught school for one year then moved to New Mexico. He worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps and later the Soil Conservation Services for 32 years, retiring in 1970. Mr. Dickens lived in Clayton then various towns in New Mexico and Idaho, moving to Cherokee in 1989. He was a member of the Methodist Church and sang in the church choir. He also was a member of Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, a 50-year member of Blue Lodge, Royal Arch and Knight Templar. He was a scout master with the Boy Scouts and served in the National Guard. He married Mona L. Phillips in 1945 at Mosquero. He was preceded in death by a son, Jerome Stephen "Jerry" Dickens. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sandra Robinson of Carrollton, Texas, and Cyndi Woods of Cherokee; two sons, Ervin Dickens of Clayton and Sherman Dickens of Salmon, Idaho; a sister, Teddy Norman of Carlsbad; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Amarillo Jewel Marie Ogle Jewel Marie Ogle, 86, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, June 29, 1999, at Lubbock. Cremation was handled by Resthaven Crematory of Lubbock. Mrs. Ogle was born in Fleetwood, Okla., and was a longtime Amarillo resident. She was a private-duty nurse in the Amarillo area for many years. Survivors include two sons, Jessie C. Ogle Jr. of Amarillo, and Larry P. Ogle of Stanfield, Ariz.; a brother, Paul Peacock of Oakland, Calif.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. In 1943, he graduated from Texas Tech University. He was a seven-year veteran of the Navy who fought in D-Day on the coast of Normandy in World War II. Mr. Boston was a certified public accountant who worked for the Chrysler Corp. for many years. He retired in 1984 from Bally Manufacturing. In 1990, he moved to Amarillo from Gilroy, Calif. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include a brother, James Robert Boston of Tyler; two sisters, Rosemary Kollmar of Amarillo and Joan Carrell of Austin; and an aunt, Rose Stinson of Canyon. Billie Thompson Gatlin Billie Thompson Gatlin, 78, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, June 29, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in College Mound Cemetery in Kaufman County with Jay R. Mrs. Gatlin was born in Terrell and moved to Amarillo in 1945. She was employed in retail sales and was a Methodist. Mrs. Armstrong was born in Springdale, Ark., and was a graduate of Springdale High School. In 1950, she graduated from St. Edwards School of Nursing in Fort Smith, Ark. She moved to Amarillo in 1954. In 1982, she retired as a registered nurse who had worked for Northwest Texas Hospital, Dr. W.L. Askew and Dr. Breeden. She was a member of Freedom Baptist Church, ESA sorority and the Women of the Moose Chapter No. 1150 of Amarillo. She also was a member of the board of the Amarillo Children's Cottage. She married James C. Armstrong in 1954 in Tucumcari, N.M. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Jackie Jackson of Amarillo and Sharon Pitts of Baytown; a brother, Max Wright of Harrison, Ark.; a sister, Jeanette Atkins of Little Rock, Ark.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. From 1966 until 1990, she was on the board of directors of First State Bank of Happy. She also was a volunteer at High Plains Baptist Hospital. She married Carl Small in 1948 at Amarillo. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Laurie Doerfler of Amarillo; a son, Henry Small of Houston; a sister, Ruth Yelton of Richardson; and four grandchildren. Harwell Royce W. Harwell, 83, formerly of Amarillo, died Monday, June 28, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Norman Grigsby, associate pastor of St. Paul United Methodist Church, officiating and military rites by Disabled American Veterans Chapter 26. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Harwell was born in Waxahachie. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps. He moved to Amarillo in 1964 and lived here until moving to Austin in 1995. Twelve years ago, Mr. Harwell retired as owner and operator of Avondale Polyclean. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Hamlett Bible Class, Amarillo Masonic Lodge No. 731, Lubbock Consistory of the Scottish Rite and Khiva Temple of the Shrine. He married Thelma Messer in 1941 at Memphis. She died in 1987. Survivors include a daughter, Lily Harwell McNally of Austin; a son, Royce Lee Harwell of Dallas; a brother, Albert Sidney Harwell Jr. of Sedalia, Mo.; and three grandchildren. Katherine Ussery-Estill Katherine Ussery-Estill, 38, of Amarillo, died Monday, June 28, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 4714 NW Fourth with the Rev. She attended school in Missouri where she swam for AAU and graduated with a bachelor of science in psychology degree from the University of Missouri at Columbia. Mrs. Ussery-Estill was a social worker for the Texas Rehabilitation Commission. She moved to Amarillo six months ago, where she was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. She married Ronald Estill in 1985 at Columbia. He died in 1996. Survivors include a son, Shane Estill of Mexico, Mo.; a daughter, Wendy Kelsay of Mexico, Mo.; her parents, Kay and Mike Ussery of Amarillo; and a brother, Vincent Ussery of Plano. Mrs. Harlin was born in Mansfield, Okla., and graduated from Amarillo High School and St. Anthony's Nursing School in 1942. She was employed as a registered nurse with Dr. Evelyn and Dr. George Powers. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She married Elmo Frank Harlin in 1948 at Clovis, N.M. She is survived by her husband. Maye Murphy Maye Murphy, 86, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, June 29, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd., with Dr. Charles Jones of Second Baptist Church officiating. Entombment will be in Llano Cemetery Mausoleum. Mrs. Murphy was born in New Albany, Miss., and moved to Amarillo in 1952. She was a homemaker and member of Second Baptist Church. She married A.C. Murphy in 1936 at Hollis, Okla. He died in 1994. Survivors include three brothers, Paul Martin and Roy C. Martin, both of Amarillo, and Burlie Martin of Babbitt, Minn.; and two sisters, Margarett Goodson of La Mirada, Calif., and Ola Chadwick of Midland. Canyon David H. Shirly David H. Shirly, 62, of Canyon, died Monday, June 28, 1999. Memorial graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Dreamland Cemetery with Dr. Charles Price, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Cremation arrangements were handled by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mr. Shirly was born in Springfield, Mass., and moved to Canyon in 1978. He was employed by Wal-Mart in Amarillo and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Canyon. Survivors include his mother, Viola Michaels of Wilbraham, Mass.; two daughters, Jennifer Reynolds of Amarillo and Suzanne Shirly of Borger; and two brothers, Herman Shirly of Amarillo and Donald Shirly of Wilbraham, Mass. Oklahoma Jeff Riles HOLLIS, Okla. - Jeff Riles, 90, died Sunday, June 27, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Hill and the Rev. Harris officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery by Stewart Funeral Service. Mr. Riles was born in Conroe and attended public school in Texas. At an early age, he moved to Hollis, where he worked at the Hollis Cotton Oil Mill. He also worked as a farmer and hog rancher. He married Hattie Bell in the late 1920s. He was preceded in death by his wife and two children. Survivors include three daughters, Elizabeth Butler and Patricia Riles, both of Hollis, and Carolyn Butler of Amarillo; four sons, Jeff Lee Riles of Amarillo, Carl Lee Riles of Hollis, Karly C. Riles of Lawton, and Jeffrey Drew Riles of Childress, Texas; 35 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren. John A. Haliburton GUYMON, Okla. - John A. Haliburton, 80, died Wednesday, June 30, 1999. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Henson-Novak Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Chaffin officiating. Mr. Haliburton was born in Evangeline, La., and attended schools in Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma. In 1937, he was valedictorian of his graduating class at Allen High School in Allen, Okla. He then completed a course at Draughon's Business College, attended East Central University at Ada for two years and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor's degree in history and government. Mr. Haliburton completed one year of law school at OU before entering the Army Air Corps during World War II. He served in the Pacific Theater and spent some time in Japan in the army of occupation. After the war, he worked for 40 years for an oil company. In 1962, Mr. Haliburton moved to Guymon and retired in 1982. He was active with the Boy Scouts of America. He won awards for his poetry and in chess competition. He married Bernice Poole in 1943 at Ada. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kay Simmons of Tulsa and Carol Pottebaum of Yukon; a son, John Haliburton of Englewood, Colo.; and a grandson. The family suggests memorials be to Boy Scouts of America or a favorite charity, which will be accepted at the funeral home. Elsewhere Jack Lomax LUBBOCK - Jack Lomax, 90, died Wednesday, June 30, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Resthaven Mausoleum. Entombment and arrangements are by Sanders Funeral Home of Lubbock. Mr. Lomax was born in Johnson County and grew up in Plainview where he learned to fly. A barn stormer, he joined the Marines during the 1930s and became a pilot. In 1942, he joined the Sea Bees and served on Guadalcanal. Mr. Lomax began employment with Southwestern Public Service in 1948 and retired in 1974 as a sub-station supervisor. He married Jeane Miller in 1936 at Amarillo. She died in 1985. Survivors include a great-granddaughter, Anna Blakemore of Lubbock, and several nieces and nephews.
