Shedeck SPEARMAN - Richard H. Shedeck, 77, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ken Cole officiating. Burial will be in Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home, Spearman. Mr. Shedeck was born in Yukon, Okla., and had lived in the area since 1929. He graduated from Spearman High and from Draughon's Business College in Oklahoma City. He was a farmer/rancher and collected antique cars and farm machinery. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Hansford Lodge No. 1040 A.F.&A.M. and was a 32 degree Mason. He was preceded in death by a greatgrandchild. Survivors include two sons, Mike Shedeck of Dalhart and Kurt Shedeck of Midland; a daughter, Vicki Wilson of Fritch; two sisters, Dolly McWhirter of Spearman and Leona Sikes of Portales, N.M.; five grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Hansford Hospice, Station Master's House Museum, First United Methodist Church, Spearman, or to Crown of Texas Hospice. Velma Caldwell Hodges HEREFORD - Velma Caldwell Hodges, 91, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Fellowship of Believers Church with Dr. Nathan Stone officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mrs. Hodges was born in Decatur and had lived in Deaf Smith County for most of her life. She retired after 30 years as Deaf Smith County Treasurer, and was a member of Hereford Women's Business and Professional Organization. She was a member of First Baptist and had been secretary for the Young Peoples Department at that church. In 1927, she married C.W. Hodges. He died in 1940. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Doris Jo Purcell, in 1995. Survivors include a son, Keith Hodges of San Antonio; a daughter, Bettye Owen of Hereford; a sister, Eunice Boyer of Hereford; 14 grandchildren; 29 greatgrandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Norma Rice DALHART - Norma Rice, 67, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Texline Cemetery with Milford A. Nelson, elder of Clayton New Mexico Congregation of Jehovah's Witness, officiating. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Home. Mrs. Rice was born in Cascade County, Mont., moved to the West Coast as a child, and to Texas in 1977. She was a homemaker and beautician, and was associated as a Jehovah's Witness. In 1947, she married John T. Rice. Survivors include two sons, Tim Rice of Alamosa, Colo., and Pat Rice of Texline; a daughter, Laura Rice of Evanston, Wyo.; three brothers, Bob Nunn, Floyd Nunn and Archie Nunn; a sister, Alice Reynolds; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice. Florian Jarecki FRIONA - Florian Jarecki, 73, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First United Methodist Church, Friona, with the Rev. Scott Blazek of Clovis, N.M., officiating. Burial will be in Friona Cemetery by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home. Mr. Jarecki was born in Columbus, Neb., and moved to Parmer County from Platte Center, Neb., in 1956. He was a farmer/trucker, and a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, where he served as elder and chairman of the congregation. In 1947, he married Lorraine Reiken. Mr. Jarecki was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Jordan Levario, in 1995, and by a son, Les Jarecki, in 1998. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Tom Jarecki of Amarillo and John Jarecki of Friona; three daughters, Debbie Johnson of Las Cruces, N.M., Pam Steward of Lamesa and Susie Burton of Evansville, Ind.; two brothers, Louis Jarecki and Andrew Jarecki, both of Platte Center; two sisters, Dorothy Rosenthal of Platte Center and Angie Gronenthal of Beatrice, Neb.; 12 grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to The Lutheran Hour, or to a favorite charity. Thomas Young PAMPA - Thomas Young, 72, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Frankie Lemons, minister of McCollough Street Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by the funeral home. Mr. Young was born in Naples and moved to Pampa in the late 1940s. He worked for Pampa Steel and attended McCollough Street Church of Christ. His wife, Martha Smiley, preceded him in death. Survivors include his mother, Annie Mae Jones; and a brother, Vivian Porter, Sr. Mary A. Rosas MULESHOE - Mary A. Rosas, 64, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999. Vigil services will be at 7:30 p.m. today in Ellis Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Augustine, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Muleshoe Cemetery by the funeral home. Mrs. Rosas was born in El Cerrito, N.M., and had lived in Muleshoe most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. A son, Habell Rosas, died in 1997, and a daughter, Zeulema Rosas, in 1994. In 1957, she married Fermin Rosas. Survivors include her husband; six sons, Fermin Rosas Jr. and Sammy Rosas, both of Friona, Carlos Rosas of Muleshoe, Paul Rosas of Hereford, and David Rosas and Michael Rosas, both of Clovis, N.M.; four daughters, Sally Rosas of Muleshoe, Mary Ann Garcia of Anthony, N.M., Irene Rosas of Las Cruces, N.M., and Geronina Nora Ramos of Plainview; two sisters, Charlotte Chavez of Farwell and Rita Villaneuva of Las Vegas, N.M.; and 24 grandchildren. Raymond Wilbur Hall HARTLEY - Raymond Wilbur Hall, 76, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999. Hass Funeral Home, Dalhart. Mr. Hall was born in Sedan, N.M., and grew up there and in Weed, N.M. He served with the Navy during World War II, built grain elevators and did custom farming and carpentry. In 1964, he married Carmen Herrera. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Christina Vincent of Canyon, Carmelita Gage of Tulia and Bertha Allen of New Iberia, La.; three brothers, Floyd Hall of Artesia, N.M., Earl Hall of Santa Rosa, Calif., and Fred Hall of Portales, N.M.; three sisters, Helen Akers of Palacios, Bertha Harris of Dalhart and Edith Richardson of Tulare, Calif., and four grandchildren. Amarillo Gertrude Mayfield Gertrude Mayfield, 73, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Emmanuel Church with the Rev. Jess Cortez, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery East by Warford-Walker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes. Mrs. Mayfield was born in Cameron, grew up in Morton, and moved to Amarillo in 1953. She was a housewife and a member of Emmanuel Church. Survivors include three sons, Dwight Cook of Phoenix, Eugene Cook of Farmington, N.M., and James G. Mayfield of Amarillo; four daughters, Linda J. Rainwater and Roma R. Rainwater, both of Lubbock, and Sabrena Anderson and Sharena R. Mayfield, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Charlie M. Grabert and Ruby Allen, both of Amarillo; five brothers, Gipson and Leonard, both of Houston, Eddie Swain of Dimmitt, Daniel (Danny) of Amarillo and George Swain of Texarkana; and a number of grandchildren. The family will be at 1206 Mimosa Lane. Thelma Tallie Thelma Tallie, 78, of Amarillo died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999. Wake services were Sunday at the Warford-Walker Mortuary Chapel of Roses. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by the funeral home. Mrs. Tallie was born in Tennessee Colony and had lived in Amarillo for more than 45 years. She was a domestic worker and a member of Carter Chapel Primitive Baptist Church. Survivors include a foster son, the Rev. Keith Hinkle of Detroit; a sister, Earnestine Durham of Sacramento, Calif.; and two grandchildren. Henry Lewis Henry Lewis, 91, of Amarillo, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Llano Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Scott Greer, pastor of Paramount Terrace Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Mausoleum by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Lewis was born in London, England, and moved to Amarillo in 1964. In England, he owned and operated a carpet shop in Bath and in Somerset, and served as a Welfare Officer in the Royal Air Force. After moving to the United States, he worked in carpet sales for Sears Roebuck Co. In 1929, he married Ada Elizabeth Miles. She died in 1987. Survivors include three daughters, June Doreen Harmon, Frances Elizabeth Corbitt and Monica Ada Filsouf, all of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Dorothy Pond Dorothy"Dottie"Pond, 69, of Amarillo, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Blackburn-Shaw Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce St., with the Rev. Don Heddin officiating. Arrangements are by the funeral home. Mrs. Pond was born in Colorado City and had lived in Globe, Ariz., Phoenix, and Flagstaff,and in Sheridan, Wyo., Missoula, Mont., before moving to Amarillo in 1986. She worked as a telephone operator for Mountain Bell, and while in Missoula, for the University of Montana. She worked for Amarillo Answering Service for the past 13 years, and was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church. In 1953, she married Floyd Pond. He died in 1984. Survivors include a daughter, Lisa Pond of Amarillo; two sons, Everett Pond of Littleton, Colo., and Greg Pond of Hickley, England; a sister, Virginia Pollard of Amarillo; a brother, James McCorcle of Juneau, Alaska; and two grandchildren. The body will not be available for viewing. The family will be at 4209 Mollie Drive, and suggests memorials be to Ronald McDonald House. Eurah E. Phillips Eurah E. Phillips, 93, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Sinking Springs Cemetery, Murray, Ky. Arrangements are by J.H. Churchill Funeral Home, Murray, Ky., with local arrangements by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mrs. Phillips was born in Murray, Ky., and was in the first freshman class of Murray State University. She was a homemaker, a member of the Woman's Missionary Union, and an associate member of First Baptist Church. She also taught Sunday school and helped start the Watch Organization for Retarded Children. In 1926, she married Fred Phillips. He died in 1987. Survivors include four sons, Charles Phillips of Murray, Ky., Gene Phillips of High Point, N.C., David Phillips of Birmingham, Ala., and John Phillips of San Diego; a daughter, Better Roper of Amarillo; a sister, Gladys Nix of Lexington, Ky.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Bivins Memorial Nursing Home, or to Crown of Texas Hospice. Stella Virginia Snider Stella Virginia Snider, 91, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by the funeral home. Mrs. Snider was born in Archer County and moved to Amarillo in 1950. She was employed in management by a hospital, and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and of Martha Sunday school class. In 1925, she married John A. Snider. He died in 1965. She was also preceded in death by a son, and by a daughter. Survivors include four daughters, Gloria Jean Chumbly of Canadian, Patsy Hamilton and Virginia Pennington, both of Amarillo, and Jerrie Lamon of Buchanan Dam; three sons, Art Snider of Lindale, Marvin Snider of Buchanan Dam and Ken Snider of Amarillo; 32 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Georgia St. Mrs. Clark was born in Lockney and moved to Amarillo in 1965 from Austin. She graduated from Plainview High School and was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell for 33 years. She was a member of Anna Street Church of Christ. In 1952, she married J.B. Clark. He died in 1997. Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Thompson of Amarillo; two sons, Danny Clark of Amarillo and Stan Clark of Flagstaff, Ariz.; four sisters, Velma Webb, Dorothy Martin, Jo Nell Perry and Betty Bougher, all of Amarillo; and four grandchildren. Mary Mahagan Mary Mahagan, 100, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Survivors include two daughters, Olledene Carpenter and Lois Pritchard, both of Amarillo; three grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Lynn Crues Lynn Crues, 39, of Amarillo, died Friday, Feb. 26, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Crues was born in Albuquerque, N.M., and had been a longtime resident of Amarillo, where he attended Amarillo High and later owned Brothers Communication. Survivors include his mother, Billie Crues of Amarillo; son, Shane Crues of Norman, Okla.; and three brothers, Ronnie Crues of Glendale, Ariz., Larry Crues of Irving and Mark Crues of Amarillo. New Mexico Hazel Scott TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Hazel Scott, 78, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Dunn Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the family plot at Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery by the funeral Home. Mrs. Scott was born in House, N.M., and had lived in Tucumcari and Quay County for most of her life. She was a bookkeeper at Tucumcari Lumber Co. for many years, and a member of Trinity Baptist Church. Survivors include four sons, Gordon Scott of Salt Lake City, Garey Scott of Trinidad, West Indies, Lonnie Scott of Farmington, N.M., and Bruce Scott of Clayton, N.M.; a daughter, Loretta Fowlkes of Tucumcari; a brother, Lawrence Young of Portales, N.M.; two sisters, Opal Parker of Dalhart and Ann Saulsberry of Datil, N.M.; and numerous grandchildren. Riddle, 75, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999. Services will at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Dunn Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in the family plot at Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery by the funeral home. Mr. Riddle was born in Britt, Iowa and had been a resident of Tucumcari since 1963. He retired as a heavy equipment operator and construction foreman from Broce Construction Co. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II, and was a member of Seventh Day Adventist Church. Survivors include his wife, Martha, of Tucumcari; three sons, Mike Riddle of Tucumcari, Eugene Riddle of Logan, N.M., and Tom Riddle of Kileen; a sister, Irene Williams of Kirby, Ark.; and five grandchildren. Mr. Pittman was born in Brown County and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. In 1948, he married Bernice Yvonne Bryan. She died in 1995. Survivors include two sons, Tony Pittman of Keystone Heights, Fla., and Mike Pittman of Amarillo; two brothers, Joe Pittman of Alaska and Doyle Pittman of Houston; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Pat Mullinax MORTON - Pat Mullinax, 77, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Schlabach, minister of Second and Taylor Street Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Morton Memorial Cemetery by the funeral home. Mrs. Mullinax was born in Hamilton, moved to Bledsoe Community in 1927, and to Morton in 1931. She was a teacher's aid at Morton Elementary School, an assistant librarian at Love Memorial Library, and a member of the YM Study Club. Her daughter, Carrie Ann Tyson, died in 1971. Survivors include her mother, Elsie Strickland of Morton; a grandchild; and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Love Memorial Library, Morton, TX 79346. Nadine Bell HALE CENTER - Nadine Bell, 84, died Saturday, Feb. 27, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Gould Cemetery with Don Mullican of Fourth & Broadway Church of Christ, Carnegie, Okla., officiating. Arrangements are by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home, Hale Center. Mrs. Bell was born in Sayre, Okla., and moved to Hale Center from Carnegie in 1997. She was a member of Church of Christ. In 1937, she married John Bell. He died in 1978. Survivors include a sister, Pearlie Robertson of Lubbock; and a brother, Noah Davis of Plainview.
