Whitcher BORGER - Goldie P. Whitcher, 75, died Monday, Sept. 27, 1999. Arrangements are by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors. Mrs. Whitcher was born in Little Rock and moved to Borger 55 years ago from Arkansas. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Whitcher, in 1991. Survivors include two sons, Donald Gene Whitcher of Port Huron, Mich., and Henry Reynolds of Borger; three daughters, Betty DeLaCruz of Pringle and Wanda Matthews and Linda Sanders, both of Borger; 14 grandchildren; and 11 greatgrandchildren. The family will be at 901 Harrington. Amarillo Daily News, Oct. 1, 1999 Reatha Robertson Skaggs MATADOR - Reatha "Bobby" Robertson Skaggs, 73, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in the East Mound Cemetery at Matador with the Rev. Rickey Lawrence, pastor of Roaring Springs Full Gospel Church at Roaring Springs, officiating. Arrangements are by Seigler Funeral Home of Matador. Mrs. Skaggs was born in Matador. She attended schools in Matador and received a bachelor's degree from West Texas State University at Canyon and a master's degree from Texas Tech at Lubbock. She lived in Stillwater, Okla., and attended Oklahoma A&M, before returning to Matador and managing the family's ranching and farming interests and restaurant known as "Bob's Oil Well." She moved to Weatherford, Okla., in 1981 and lived there until moving to Archer City in 1999. She married Billy Paul Skaggs in 1952 at Oklahoma City. He died in 1993. Survivors include a daughter, Princess Skaggs of Archer City; and a grandson, Billy Bob Skaggs-Duerr of Archer City. Raper Sr. DIMMITT - Samuel H. Raper Sr., 81, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Castro Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Howard Rhodes, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Mr. Raper was born in Vernon and served in the Army during World War II. He moved to Dimmitt in 1945 from Earth. In 1983, he retired after 28 years with the City of Dimmitt. He was a Baptist. He married Pearl Clark in 1945 at Dimmitt. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Sam Raper Jr. of Dimmitt and Bobby K. Raper of Hereford; three sisters, Mary Woodburn, Rubye Dempsey and Joyce Angel, all of Amarillo; and two grandchildren. Art McAninch officiating. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Kingston Cemetery in Kingston, Okla., by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Hall was born in Borger and was a lifetime resident of Phillips and Borger. He attended Phillips schools then graduated from Borger High School in 1974. Mr. Hall was a client at the Borger Satellite Center, a member of Fairlanes Baptist Church and an honorary member of Ironriders. He was an award-winning athlete who participated in basketball, bowling, track and the Special Olympics. Survivors include his mother, LaQuita Hall of Borger and a sister, Myrna Hart of Copperas Cove. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Rebekah Lodge and Bailey County Home Demonstration Club. She was a homemaker. She married George Gross in 1939 at Farwell. He died in 1993. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Rector Funeral Home Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St., with the Rev. Richard Bartel, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Pampa, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon. Mr. Miller was born in Downey, Calif., and lived in Amarillo most of his life. An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he also served in Germany. He graduated with a bachelor of science degree in psychology from West Texas State University. Survivors include four sisters, Darlene Crawford of Maysville, Okla., Mary Speed of Amarillo, Katy Littrell of Claremore, Okla., and Myrtle Pawlak of Twin Falls, Idaho; and two brothers, Jerry Miller of Pampa and Marty Webster of Victorville, Calif. Gene Richardson, retired Methodist minister of Logan, N.M., officiating. Burial will be in Palo Duro Cemetery in Wildorado. Mr. Oglesby was born in Wildorado. He moved to Amarillo in August from Logan, N.M., where he had lived since 1986. He had been employed by the Amarillo Globe-News, the Hereford Brand and Vega International Implement. Mr. Oglesby was a member of First Baptist Church in Amarillo. He married Bobbie Woodward in 1985 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Suzanne Wilgers of Deltona, Fla.; a son, Mike Oglesby of Joshua; two stepsons, Robert Woodward of DeSoto and Ronald Woodward of San Antonio; two brothers, Cecil Oglesby of Hereford and J.W. Mrs. Harrison was born in San Antonio. For 15 years, she was a bookkeeper at Golden Spread Packing Co. Survivors include two daughters, Melissa Hill of Amarillo and Taun Clay of Nara Visa; two sisters, Jack Brewer and Neldehn Ross, both of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Oct. 1, 1999 James B. Crowe James B. Crowe, 77, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999. Private family services were held. Arrangements were by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Crowe was born in Sullivan, Mo., and received his bachelor's degree in geology from the University of Missouri. In college, he served in the ROTC with last horse drawn cavalry. During World War II, he served with the Army as a captain. Before his retirement, he was a manager of an oil terminal. He was a member of Tierra Grande Rangers Shooting Club in Hereford. He moved to Amarillo five years ago. He married Susan Hunt in 1992 at Columbia, Mo. Survivors include his wife; six children, Andy Crowe of Minneapolis, Mick Yeager of Nashville, Cathy Thome of Kenosha, Wis., Breck Crowe of Chicago, Gary Crowe of Holland, Pa., and Sue Yeager of Dubuque, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She had lived in Amarillo for 14 years where she was employed by Motel 6. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Forest Lawn Memorial Park by Forest Lawn Funeral Home. Mr. Davis was born in Venus, Colo. He was a retired sheet metal worker and had worked for Lydick Roofing. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Florene; four sons, Robert Davis and Raymond Davis, both of Beaumont, Mack Davis of Amarillo and David Davis of Nederland; a daughter, Dorothy Jenny of Beaumont; two brothers, Vernon Woodall of Amarillo and Jimmy Woodall of Paris, Texas; six sisters, Norvelle Greer, Maxine Davis, and Lorene Plaster, all of Amarillo, Ada Mae, Oleta Sparks of Dallas, and Florene Alato of Oklahoma City; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Oct. 1, 1999 Oklahoma Edna Mae Davis HOLLIS, Okla. - Edna Mae Davis, 90, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999, at Wichita Falls, Texas. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. David Furlow officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery by Patterson-Greer Funeral Home of Hollis. Mrs. Davis was the first female born in Harmon County after Oklahoma became a state. She was a lifelong resident of Harmon County. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of the Hollis First Baptist Church. She married George L. Davis in 1928 at Hollis. He died in 1971. She also was preceded in death by a daughter, Elaine Davis and a son, Lee Davis. Survivors include three sons, Max Davis of Gainesville, Texas, Billy Davis of Amarillo and Darron Davis of Bullhead, Ariz.; a daughter, Carron Martin of Wichita Falls; a sister, Tonia Gorshing of Arapaho; 12 grandchildren; and 22 greatgrandchildren.
