Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Howard K. Batson, pastor, officiating. Arrangements and cremation were by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Lawrence was born in Tralake, Miss. She moved to Amarillo in 1930 from Memphis, Tenn., and began working for General Motors Acceptance Corp. She was active in the Parent Teachers Association and was a past member of the Amarillo Garden Club and the International Graphoanalysis Society. She had been a member of First Baptist Church since 1932. She moved into Park Place Towers in 1990. She married William Byron in 1931 in Amarillo. He died in 1994. Survivors include three sons, Benny Lawrence of Amarillo, John Lawrence of Austin and David Lawrence of Georgetown; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. The body will not be available for viewing. Joyce Baker Joyce Baker, 70, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Patillo of Messenger Worship Center, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Baker was born in Hillsboro. After high school graduation, she moved to Amarillo. She was a homemaker and a member of Messenger Worship Center, formerly Pleasant Valley Pentecostal Church of God. She married Vernon Baker in 1957 in Amarillo. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Glenda Eades of Oklahoma, Gail Baker of Clarendon and Carol Baker of Amarillo; three sons, Carl Baker and Perry Baker, both of Amarillo, and Ken Baker of Arlington; a sister, June Keanan of Amarillo; 20 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The body will not be available for viewing. Celeste Boennighausen Celeste Boennighausen, 87, of Amarillo, a former longtime resident of Tigard, Ore., died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday in Young's Funeral Home at Tigard. Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. Anthony's Church at Tigard. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery. Local arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Boennighausen was born in St. Louis. She graduated from St. Anthony of Padua High School in their commercial class and worked as a secretary. She married Albert Boennighausen in 1933 at St. Louis. They moved to Oregon in 1944 and settled in Tigard. She worked as a legal secretary for 16 years. She moved to Amarillo 31/2 years ago. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Richard and Thomas. Survivors include a sister, Lorraine Kirberg of St. Louis; a daughter, Susan Rider of Amarillo; a son, Roger Boennighausen of Vista, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandson. The family requests memorials be to a favorite charity. John Steel Anderson King John Steel Anderson King, 53, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Feb. 13, 1999. "Jerry"Sportsman, 75, of Amarillo, died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Claud Tugwell officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St. Mr. Sportsman was born in Canadian. An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the European theater as a medical technician. He was awarded the American Theater Campaign medal, EAME Campaign medal with four Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, a Victory Ribbon and three overseas service bars. Mr. Sportsman retired as road foreman for the city of Amarillo. He was a life member of the Canadian Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7469. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lilian. Sandi Burk Sandi Burk, 49, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999. The family plans private services. Arrangements are by Colonial Funeral Chapel, 1010 W. Ninth. Mrs. Burk was born in Hamlin and moved to Amarillo in 1970 from Happy. She retired as a supervisor at ASARCO. She was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church and the NAACP. Survivors include two sons, Billy Chris Burk and Benjamin Wood, both of Amarillo; a daughter, Sandi Hall of Amarillo; her parents, Graciano Herrera and Juanita Herrera, both of Amarillo; five sisters, Gracie Holman of Amarillo, Rita Vera of Gulf Port, Fla., Hilda Calliway and Erma Barrett, both of Ocala, Fla., and Jessie Wood of Big Spring; and five grandchildren. Hughes St. Mrs. Lallor was born and raised in Crowell where she attended schools. She lived in Clarendon before moving to Amarillo in 1967. She was employed by Days Inn of Amarillo and was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Lallor, in 1975. The family will be at 2500 Chestnut. Eugene Crump Eugene "Gene" Crump, 79, died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Fairmont Cemetery in Follett with the Rev. Mr. Crump was born in Follett where he graduated from high school in 1937. In 1941, he enlisted in the Navy and served as a signalman on various merchant ships during World War II. He managed his parents' grocery and dry goods store when he returned to Follett. In 1960, Mr. Crump moved to Las Vegas and later to Phoenix where he retired from A.J. Bayless Supermarkets in 1979. He moved to Amarillo in 1993. Survivors include two sons, Tim Crump of Canyon and Stan Crump of Amarillo; a brother, Willis Crump of Chula Vista, Calif.; a sister, Evelyn Francis of Birmingham, Ala; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Iva Pitts Iva Pitts, 89, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Feb. 16, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart with Bob McAlister, retired, officiating. Area Nina Floy Adams Spoonemore PAMPA - Nina Floy Adams Spoonemore, 88, died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Spoonemore was born in Velma, Okla., and moved to Pampa in 1935. In 1980, she retired after 18 years as a social worker for the Texas Department of Human Services. She was active in the Top O' Texas Republican Women's Club and was executive secretary of the Pampa Army Airfield Reunion Association. In 1973-74, she was named to "Who's Who of Texas" and was named "Outstanding American of the South" in 1975. Mrs. Spoonemore was instrumental in founding the Pampa Army Airfield Museum, also known as the Freedom Museum. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Pampa Chamber of Commerce for 26 years and the Altrusa Club for 12 years. She married Walter A. Spoonemore in 1927 at Wichita Falls. He died in 1973. She also was preceded in death by two sons, Walter A. Spoonemore Jr. and Derl Ean Spoonemore. Survivors include two stepdaughters, Maxine Adkisson of Amarillo and Juanita Covington of Corpus Christi; a stepson, Don Spoonemore of Hobbs, N.M.; a sister, Bertha Belew of Fort Worth; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Beryl Shanks MATADOR - Beryl Shanks, 87, of Lubbock, died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Kirkland Cemetery in Kirkland with the Rev. Mrs. Shanks was born in Quanah and lived in Childress County for several years and then was a Matador resident from 1950 until 1960. She later lived in Floydada and Seminole before moving to Lubbock in 1995. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She married Luther Ned Shanks in 1937 at Childress. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Joplin and retired after 24 years as secretary from Missouri Southern College. She married Earl Johnson Jr. in 1946 at Ashland, Kan. He died in 1984. Eunice Stanfield Patrick PLAINVIEW - Eunice Stanfield Patrick, 89, of Rogers, Ark., and formerly of Plainview, died Monday, Feb. 15, 1999. During World War II, he served in the Asian-Pacific theater with the Army Air Corps. In 1975, he moved to Floydada from Lockney. Mr. Sandefur retired from Curry Freight in Floydada and had been a farmer. He was a Methodist. Elsewhere Dr. Randall Dean Blackwell SUGAR LAND - Dr. Randall Dean Blackwell, 44, died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 1999. A tribute to his life was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at Settegast-Kopf Funeral Home at Sugar Creek. Burial was in Memorial Oaks Cemetery. Dr. Blackwell was born in Coudersport, Pa. He graduated summa cum laude in 1972 from Spring Branch High School at Houston. He received his undergraduate degree summa cum laude from Rice University and his doctor degree from Baylor College of Medicine with honors. He continued his residency training at Baylor, culminating in a two-year fellowship in neuroradiology. At the time of his death, he was in private practice with Houston Radiology Associated at The Methodist Hospital, Texas Medical Center and Sugar Land. Survivors include his wife, Shirin; his parents, Dean and Mary Jane Blackwell of Amarillo; and two brothers, Andy Blackwell of Houston and Sandel Blackwell of Reisterstown, Md. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, the Carroll Arrow Splinters and Phi Kappa Psi fraternity at Iowa State. Mrs. Rinestine was born in Ione. She was associated with her late husband, William H. Rinestine, in the ranching business. She married her husband in 1930 near Nara Visa. Mrs. Page was born in Powder, Ore., and moved to Clovis in 1968. She and her husband owned and operated Page's Bonsai Bonkei Nursery in Clovis. They later moved the nursery to Farwell. She is survived by her husband, George Page. Oklahoma Raymond Daugherty HOOKER, Okla. - Raymond "Red" "Pod" Daugherty, 85, died Sunday, Feb. 14, 1999. Services will be at 4 p.m. today in the Hooker High School Auditorium with the Rev. David Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in Hooker Cemetery by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Daugherty was born in Grimes. He married Bufford Okeemah Isch in 1939 at Cheyenne. They lived in Grimes until 1951 when they moved to Hooker. He was in charge of maintenance for the Hooker public schools until retirement. He was preceded in death by two infant sons, another son, Lamarr, and a daughter, Rhonda Sue McLaughlin. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Richard and Justin, both of Hooker; three daughters, Barbara Ann Keith of Optima, and Linda Journagan and Dixie Snook, both of Adams; two sisters, Beulah Isch of Clinton and Bertha Ellis of Holbert; 34 grandchildren; and 62 great-grandchildren.
