Mr. Brown was born in Cimarron County, Okla. He was a longtime resident of Amarillo who moved here from Quemado. He was an accountant who was employed by Pantex. He retired in 1974. He was a member of Southlawn Baptist Church. He married Fannie Brown in 1997. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marie Brown, in 1975. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Marjorie Welborn of Amarillo and Dortha Liner of Laredo; two sisters, Dora Clark of Amarillo and Mildred Meeks of Taylor, Neb.; six grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by WarfordWalker Mortuary Inc. Mrs. Crow was a native of Yazoo County, Miss., and had been a resident of Amarillo for 55 years. She retired from the Santa Fe Railway in 1984. She was a member of Carter Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday school teacher, Sunday school treasurer and a teacher in the Women's Missionary Society. Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Elgie Crow; five daughters, Sheila Benson, Beverly Taliaferro and Greta Kim Mungo, all of Detroit, Brenda Thornton of Norman, Okla., and Donna Warner of Amarillo; two brothers, Delaware Watson and Eli Watson, both of Jackson, Miss.; three sisters, Azeal Brown and Anna Ross, both of Jackson, Miss., and Iva Fry of Dallas; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was active in the Senior Citizens Association and Amarillo Little Theater and enjoyed bingo. She married Myron Elton "Bill" Shea in 1940. He died in 1972. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors. Ms. Coates was born in the New Mexico Territory. She married John Coates Jr. in 1939 in Waurika, Okla. She received her bachelor's degree at Central State University in Edmond, Okla. She moved to Amarillo in 1953. She received her master's degree from West Texas State University. She was a teacher for the Amarillo Independent School District for more than 30 years. She taught at South Lawn and Will Rogers elementary schools. She retired in 1970 and moved to Dallas the same year. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Amarillo before moving to Dallas. Survivors include a daughter, Martha Bailey of Richardson; a son, John Coates III of Dallas; and four grandchildren. CANYON Carl G. Crow Carl G. Crow, 65, of Canyon, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Canyon with Dr. Strauss Atkinson, pastor emeritus, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Mr. Crow was born in Tulia. He moved to Canyon from Happy in 1938 and graduated from Canyon High School in 1951. He attended Amarillo College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean War. He owned and operated Carl's Garage in Canyon since 1970. He served for four years on the Canyon Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Canyon and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He also was a member of the American Legion. Survivors include two daughters, Darline Turner of Amarillo and Joeline Jacks of Keller; two sons, Ronald Crow and Billy John Crow of Amarillo; two brothers, Jack Crow of Albuquerque and Ronald Crow of Lubbock; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She had served as a vice president of Western Bank and was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Mr. Wilson was born in Lockney. He had been a Fort Worth resident since 1994. He was an U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and served several years in the Army Reserves before being honorably discharged. He attended Texas A&M University and retired after many years in the banking and insurance business. He was involved in scouting, having served as a scoutmaster for many years, and was a private pilot. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Saginaw and Lions Club and was involved in church and civic activities. He was a member of Arch J. Keys Lodge No. 1395 AF&AM. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and was a life member of El Jebel Temple AAONMS of Denver. He was active in Chapter No. 379, Royal Arch Masons, and Council No. 317, Royal and Select Masters, both of Lockney, and was active in Plainview Commandry No. 53 Knights Templar of Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda L. Wilson, in 1998. Woodrow Wilson Frazier LITTLEFIELD - Woodrow Wilson Frazier, 86, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the Assembly of God Church of Littlefield with the Rev. Grace Wooten officiating. Burial will be in Littlefield Memorial Park under the direction of Hammons Funeral Home of Littlefield. Mr. Frazier was born in Love County, Oklahoma. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II after entering the service in December 1941. He had farmed in the Littlefield area for nearly 30 years. He had been employed by the Olton Independent School District doing janitorial work before retiring. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Littlefield. He married Florence Adams in 1940 in Littlefield. Survivors include his wife, Florence Frazier of Littlefield; three daughters, Wanda Harrell of Levelland, Linda Richardson of Spade and Darla Stengel of Hereford; a sister, Emma Gore of Clovis, N.M.; eight grandchildren; and 11 greatgrandchildren. Albert Wheeler PAMPA - Albert "Pete" Wheeler, 85, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999, at McLean. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Wheeler was born in Waurika, Okla. He married Willie Mae Dye in 1934 at Antlers, Okla. They moved to Pampa in the early 1960s. He owned and operated Kay's Market for several years. He was a pumper for J.M. Huber Corp. in Stinnett for 16 years, retiring in 1962. He then operated Wheeler's Market at Kelton for several years. He also was a rancher and had been a contract pumper for numerous oil field companies. He attended the Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife; a son, Josh Wheeler of Kress; two daughters, Voncile Nolen of Casper, Wyo., and Joan Madeen of Rhome; two sisters, Floris Dooley of Henderson, Ky., and Eula McKnight of Pampa; a brother, Delbert Wheeler of Amarillo; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmitt Hall in 1981 and by a son, Robert K. Counts, in 1994. Mrs. Hall was born in Clinton, Ark., and had been a Borger resident for 50 years. She was a housewife and a member of First Assembly of God. Survivors include a brother, Mack Kenimer of Borger; a sister, Velma Miller of Cooperton, Okla.; and two grandchildren. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She married J.C. "Sip" Campbell in 1956 at Fort Sumner, N.M. Survivors include her husband; a son, John H. Campbell of Borger; a daughter, Darla J. Dixon of Borger; a sister, JoAnn Flowers of Ardmore, Okla.; and five grandchildren. Oneta Barrett SHAMROCK - Oneta Barrett, 88, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in the Church of Christ with Cottie Tarbet officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mrs. Barrett was born in Provence, Okla., and was raised in Lockney. She graduated from Lockney High School and West Texas State College. She also attended Abilene Christian College. She had lived in Shamrock for many years where she was a teacher for the Shamrock Independent School District. She taught second grade and sixth grade for many years, having taught a total of 38 years in the Shamrock ISD. She was a member of the Church of Christ and the Retired Teachers Association. She married Price Conley Barrett in 1934 at Sayre, Okla. He died in 1995. Survivors include a daughter, Betty Mullican of Lubbock; two brothers, Leo Comer of Silverton and Lon Comer of Plainview; a sister, Lela Fore of Plainview; and three grandchildren. He was a member of the San Jose Catholic Church in Hereford. He married Maria Garcia in 1964 in Hereford. Survivors include his wife, Maria of the home; a son, Reyes Cano Jr. of Dallas; three daughters, Mary Jane Mendoza of Mississippi, Gloria Aguilar of Amarillo and Patricia Cano of McAllen; one brother, Agustin Cano of El Paso; 12 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Dorothy Gertrude "Trudy" Davis CLARENDON - Dorothy Gertrude "Trudy" Davis, 74, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean with the Rev. J.W. Roach, retired Baptist minister from Waco, officiating. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors Inc. Mrs. Davis was born in Lawton, Okla. She was a resident of Howardwick for seven years and then moved to Amarillo for a short time before moving to Texarkana two years ago. She married Freland David Davis in 1946 in Pampa. She had worked as an optician for 25 years before her retirement. She was a member of Paramount Baptist Church in Amarillo. Her husband died in 1994. Survivors include one daughter, Carrie Thomas of Maud; one brother, the Rev. J.W. Roach of Waco; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Jesse "Louie" Simmons WHEELER - Retired U.S. Navy Lt. Jesse "Louie" Simmons, 47, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Morton with the Rev. Danny Jackson, pastor, officiating, and at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Wheeler with the Rev. Chris Ford of Amarillo and the Rev. Toby Henson, pastor, officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler. Mr. Simmons was born in Wheeler. He was a graduate of Wheeler High School and attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee. He graduated from George Washington University with a bachelor of science degree and graduated from Columbia University with a physician's assistant degree. Mr. Simmons served in the U.S. Navy for 23 years before retiring. After retiring, he was employed at Cochran Memorial Hospital as physician's assistant in Morton. He married Carla Corristan Sauder in 1997 in Clovis, N.M. Survivors include his wife of Morton; a daughter, Kay Simmons of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo.; a stepson, Travis Sauder of Morton; his parents, Virgil and Joann Simmons of Wheeler; three brothers, Steve Simmons of Bellevue and Weldon Simmons and Walter Simmons of Wheeler; a sister, of Deleise Brown of Amarillo; his grandmothers, Hestel Killingsworth of Wheeler and Verna Abernathy of Wheeler; and four grandchildren. Keith, pastor of the First Christian Church, officiating under the direction of Seigler Funeral Home. Mr. Sossaman was born in Jacksboro. He was a longtime resident of Cottle County and was a member of Missionary Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a farmer. He married Maxine Yvonne Canon in 1927 in Paducah. She died in 1991. He married Leotta Harrison in 1992. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mrs. H.L. "Pat" Adams of Paducah; two brothers, John L. Sossaman and Trevor Sossaman, both of Hereford; a sister, Bonnie Barnes of Fort Worth; and three grandchildren. Tristan Terry John Hayes Beltran HEREFORD - Tristan Terry John Hayes Beltran, newborn infant of J.J. Beltran and Darla Hayes of Hereford, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999. Harlton Lester "Bud" Vaughn TULIA - Harlton Lester "Bud" Vaughn, 79, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Rose Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Don Hill, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wallace Funeral Home. Mr. Vaughn was born are reared in Memphis. He attended schools at Lakeview in Hall County. He worked for American Zinc Co. in Dumas for 17 years. Afterward, he worked in construction as a bricklayer. He lived in Grand Prairie for 20 years. He joined the U.S. Army in 1942 and was discharged in 1945. He received four Bronze Stars and a Silver Star. He moved to Tulia in 1985 from Grand Prairie. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He married Ruby Belle Nolen in 1943 in Hollis, Okla. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Barbara Barnes of Rockwood, Tenn., Linda Smith of Portland, Ore., and Laveta Hankins of Amarillo; two sisters, Lizzie Mae Strigley of Copperas Cove and Maxine Hayden of Mineral Wells; eight grandchildren; and 11 greatgrandchildren. Angelita Soto Garcia TULIA - Angelita Soto Garcia, 67, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Church of Holy Spirit with the Rev. John Salazar-Jimenez, pastor of Church of the Holy Spirit, officiating. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today at Wallace Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wallace Funeral Home. Mrs. Garcia was born in Coolidge and reared in Waco. She moved to Tulia in 1962. She had worked in food service at Tulia Junior High School and Tulia High School for 15 years. She was a member of the Guadalupanos at the Church of the Holy Spirit, where she was an active member. She married Joe Garcia Sr. in 1948 in Coolidge. He died in 1985. Survivors include two daughters, Hope Trevino of Tulia and Sylvia Sanchez of Plainview; five sons, Tony Garcia of Albuquerque, Richard Garcia of Waco, Joe Garcia of Kyle, Jimmy Garcia of Bruceton, Tenn., and Alfonso Garcia of Lubbock; five sisters, Patricia Jimenez and Maria Luisa Oasem of Dallas, Betty Garcia, Maria Flores and Libriada Silva of Waco; two brothers, Isac Sifuentez of Fort Worth and Francisco Belmarez of Dallas; 17 grandchildren; nine greatgrandchildren; and four stepgrandchildren. Ruth Robins DARROUZETT - Ruth Robins, 95, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the United Methodist Church in Darrouzett with the Rev. Scott Richards officiating. Interment will be in Darrouzett Cemetery under the direction of Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker. Mrs. Robins was born in Guthrie, Okla. When she was 5 years old, she and her family moved to the Sophia Community. She attended the North Fork Country School and later high school at Beaver, Okla. After receiving her teaching certificate at Goodwell, Okla., Mrs. Robins taught at various country schools. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Darrouzett, Women's Society of Christian Service and Sunset Ladies Aid Quilting Club. She married Joseph Robins in 1925 at Logan, Okla., and they lived in Forgan, Okla., before moving to the Logan Community. Following the death of her husband in 1986, she moved to Darrouzett, where she resided until making her home at Twin Oaks Manor in Booker in 1997. Survivors include two sons, Jackie Robins of Darrouzett and Chester Robins of Olathe, Kan.; five daughters, Wanita Millsap of Liberal, Kan., Fay Schoenhals of Darrouzett, Alta Phillips of Lubbock, Joan Kamp of Laverne, Okla., and Lois Bechthold of Booker; 20 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and two greatgreat-grandchildren.
