Hines CANADIAN - Mrs. T. "Buck" Hines, 91, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999, at Pampa. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Fairview Cemetery at Pampa with the Rev. Brad Walker, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Canadian, officiating. Arrangements are by CarmichaelWhatley Funeral Directors Home of Pampa. Mrs. Hines was born in Louisville, Ky., and was a resident of Pampa for more than 65 years before moving to the Edward Abraham Memorial Home two years ago. She was a graduate of Hereford High School. She was a homemaker and had been a member of the Parent-Teacher Association and the Ceramics Club. She married Thurmon T. "Buck" Hines in 1925 at Hereford. He died in 1983. Survivors include a daughter, Grace Hines Wright of Canadian; a brother, Joe Hill of Knoxville, Tenn.; a sister, Martha Connor of Lenoir City, Tenn.; a grandson; two great-grandchildren; and a greatgreat-granddaughter. Harry White DALHART - Harry White, 85, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Hass Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Taylor, pastor of Central United Methodist Church, officiating. Mr. White was born in Milliken, Colo. He was an Army veteran serving during World War II in the South Pacific. Survivors include a brother, William "Bill" White. Veta Pauline Smith FRITCH - Veta Pauline Smith, 81, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Franklin Street Church of Christ with Jay Henderson and Craig Keel officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors. Mrs. Smith was born in McLean and was a longtime resident of Fritch. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Calvin Smith, in 1985. Survivors include three sons, Cecil Eugene Smith of Amarillo, Lloyd Douglas Smith of Vidor and Jimmy Raymond Smith of Brenham; three daughters, Emily Wall of Amarillo, Elizabeth Pauline Rawlins and Beverly Marie Herin, both of Fritch; a sister, Zella Mae Brown of McLean; 11 grandchildren; and 12 greatgrandchildren. Nelda Oneta Caskey BORGER - Nelda Oneta Caskey, 69, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999. Memorial services will be at 3:30 p.m. today in Central Baptist Church with the Rev. John Denton officiating. Cremation and arrangements were handled by Brown Funeral Directors. Mrs. Caskey was born in Wheeler and had been a Borger resident for 50 years. She had been a food service supervisor at Magic Plains Nursing Home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy F. Caskey, in 1985. Survivors include two sons, Wendell Caskey of Garland and Ronnie Caskey of Borger; a brother, T.J. Patterson of Blackfoot, Ind.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Eloise DeBusk McIlroy PLAINVIEW - Eloise DeBusk McIlroy, 77, of Terrell, died Monday, Feb. 22, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Lemons Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. A.C. Hamilton, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens. Mrs. McIlroy was born in Fluvanna, grew up in Snyder and moved to Happy Union in 1940. In 1942, she moved to Plainview where she was employed by Western Union Telegram Deliveries. After her retirement, she worked for West Drug and Eddie's Drive-Inn. She attended Date Street Baptist Church. Her first marriage was in 1940 was to Barney K. DeBusk. He died in 1978. In 1992, she married M.B. McIlroy. He died in 1994. Survivors include three sons, Billey DeBusk of Odessa, Bobby DeBusk of Sommerville, Ala., and Ron DeBusk of Garland; a brother, Buster Sneed of Wills Point; two sisters, Pat Posey of Mount Juliet, Tenn., and Lillie Mae Hitt of Springfield, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the Alzheimer's Association. Alice Glenn DIMMITT - Alice Glenn, 76, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999. Mrs. Glenn was born in St. Louis. A homemaker, she moved to Dimmitt in 1970 from Louisville, Ky. She married Larue V. Glenn in 1942 at St. Louis. He died in 1997. Survivors include three daughters, Janis Glenn of Amarillo, Bonnie Downing of Oklahoma City and Melissa Glenn of Dimmitt; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Orville G. Cornelius BORGER - Orville G. Cornelius, 72, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. D. Jay Lewis, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Garden in Westlawn Memorial Park by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Cornelius was born in Franklin and was an Army veteran of World War II. The family suggests memorials be to Calvary Baptist Church. Hattie Turner BOVINA - Hattie Turner, 96, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church in Bovina with the Rev. Gary Morgan, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Bovina Cemetery by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home of Friona. Mrs. Turner was born in Mount Pleasant and moved to Bovina from Roby in 1951. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for the Young Adult Class. She also was a member of the Women's Missionary Union. She married Frank O. Turner in 1920 at Roby. He died in 1991. Survivors include two sons, Olan Turner of Friona and Jack Turner of Bovina; two daughters, Frankie Dickerson of Stamford and Wannette Barron of Tucson, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; 21 greatgrandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo by Robertson Funeral Directors, Inc., of Clarendon. Mrs. Gibbs was born in Weatherford and moved to Clarendon in a covered wagon as a child. She lived in Amarillo for most of her adult life and returned to Donley County six years ago. She retired as clerk for the Santa Fe Railroad. She was a member of the Bonita Chapter of Order of Eastern Star in Amarillo and First Baptist Church of Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Gibbs, in 1983. Survivors include a niece and nephew, Jean and Harold Pinion of Howardwick; five great-nieces; nine great-great-nieces and nephews; and four great-great-greatnieces and nephews. Jessie Lee Kelley WHITE DEER - Jessie Lee Kelley, 93, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel in Pampa with the Rev. Marvin Lee Roark, director of Pastoral Care at Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital of Amarillo, and the Rev. Bob Kelley, pastor of First United Methodist Church of White Deer, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Kelley was born in Umpire, Ark. She graduated from Turkey High School at Turkey and from West Texas Normal Teachers College. She moved to Carson County in 1940. She taught school in Silverton, Weatherly, the Totty School House at Mobeetie and the Bell School House near White Deer. She was a member of the Daughters of the Pioneers, the First United Methodist Church of White Deer and Bridge Club. She married Thomas Hershell Kelley in 1940 at Wichita Falls. He died in 1960. Survivors include two daughters, Tommie Kay Powers of Panhandle and Carolyn Sue McKinney of White Deer; two sisters, Imogene Price of Canyon and Norene Crump of Garland; two brothers, Lynn Davis and O'Neal Davis, both of Turkey; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to First United Methodist Church of White Deer or a favorite charity. Jackie Henry PLAINVIEW - Jackie Henry, 73, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Lemons Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Clark, pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, and the Rev. Q.D. Bevell, assistant pastor of Bethel Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park. Ms. Henry was born in Maple Wilson and grew up in Plainview where she attended schools. She then attended Watson Business College and took a correspondence course from American Business College. From 1969 until 1993, Ms. Henry did tax work and was associated with Henry & Henry Movers. She sold Luzier Cosmetics and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Plainview. Survivors include a daughter, Jackie Ann Kerbo of Denison; a granddaughter, and a great-grandson. The family suggests memorials be to Bethel Baptist Church Building Fund. Lucille Redman BOOKER - Lucille Redman, 95, died Wednesday, Feb. 24, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Heart Cemetery in Booker with Shawn Eccles officiating. Arrangements are by Good Samaritan Funeral Services of Booker. Mrs. Redman was born and raised in Logan, Okla., where she attended the Sunset Country School. After her marriage, she lived on a farm near Darrouzett. In 1935, she moved to Pampa where she worked as a waitress. In 1939, Mrs. Redman moved to California where she continued to work as a waitress and worked on various movie sets. She retired in 1969 and moved to Booker in 1988. She was a member of Eastern Star for 44 years and was one of the first two women to drive to Alaska. She married John William Redman in 1922 at Logan. Survivors include a son, R.C. Redman of Darrouzett; a grandson; and a greatgrandson. The family suggests memorials be to Twin Oaks Manor in Booker. Bobbie Nell Burrell SHAMROCK - Bobbie Nell Burrell, 79, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe G. Jernigan, pastor of Calvary Christian Fellowship Church, officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mrs. Burrell was born in Twitty. Until 1951, she lived in the Kelton community and lived in Canadian from 1977 until 1993. She then moved to Enid, Okla. She married George William Burrell in 1937 at Wheeler County. He died in 1993. Survivors include a son, Ronnie Burrell of Canyon; two daughters, Brenda Langston of Perryton and Barbara Pannell of Longdale, Okla.; three brothers, Ernest Henderson and T.B. Henderson, both of Shamrock, and Joe Henderson of Wheeler; five sisters, Jessie Henry and Mildred Gierhart, both of Shamrock, Jean Wisenbaker of Mesquite and Murl Harris and Bessie Carver, both of Amarillo; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Miss Brethour was born in Salina, Kan., and moved to Amarillo in 1960 from Fort Bayard, N.M. She was a member of Paramount Baptist Church and Special Adult Sunday School Class. She also was a member of the Rebekah Lodge. Survivors include her mother, Isabel Brethour of Amarillo; and two half sisters, Vivian Lee Helwig of Springfield, Mo., and Moyne Trarbach of Stockton, Kan. Howard Romaine, pastor of New Zion Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. MacKentie was born in Houston and had been a resident of Amarillo for 50 years. He had been a chauffeur for Nancy Ballard, retiring after many years. He was a Baptist. Survivors include a special friend, Walterine White of Amarillo; three stepsons, Michael Johnson and Darrell Darden, both of Amarillo and Mark Darden of Lubbock. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage. Mrs. White was born in Neches and moved to Amarillo in 1934 from Oklahoma. She was a childcare provider and a member of the United Pentecostal Church. She married Emmitt Francis White in 1932 at Wolverton, Okla. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1969 and by a daughter, Rosalee White, in 1945. Survivors include two daughters, Lois Barnes of Lancaster, S.C., and Frances Croft of Amarillo; three sons, Leroy White of Elk Grove, Calif., and Clinton White and Ivor L. White, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Virginia Burk of Austin and Elizabeth Riley of Fort Sumner, N.M.; two brothers, J.B. Shea, 83, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 1999. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 South Georgia St., in Amarillo. Mrs. Shea was born in Amarillo and had been a resident of Amarillo for nearly all of her life. She was active in the Senior Citizens Association and Amarillo Little Theater and enjoyed bingo. She worked at Colbert's, Howard Johnson's, Catholic Family Services and Military Entrance Processing Service. She last worked for J.O. Wyatt Community Center. She married Myron Elton "Bill" Shea in 1940. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1972 and a granddaughter in 1968. Survivors include two daughters, Myrna Shea of Clovis, N.M., and Pam Henderson of Charleston, S.C.; two sons, John Shea of Las Vegas and Myron Elton "Bill" Shea III of Alpharetta, Ga.; a sister, Edwina Cage of Amarillo; 12 grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Blount was born in Concordia Parish, La. During World War II, he served in the Army Air Corps. He moved to Amarillo from Dallas in 1952. In 1968, Mr. Blount retired after 20 years of service with the civil service. He then was employed by Bell Helicopter for 10 years until his retirement in 1978. He married Avis Cole at San Diego. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1994 and by a daughter, Patricia, in 1995. Survivors include a son, Clyde F. Blount of Germantown, Tenn.; a daughter, Claudene Nicholson of Climax Springs, Mo.; three brothers, Willard Blount, Phillip Blount and H.F. Blount, all of Concordia Parish; three sisters, Margurette Wade, Lucy Farmer and Inis Lanehart, all of Concordia Parish; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the American Heart Association. Melvin Grady Bell Sr. Melvin Grady Bell Sr., 59, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Bell was born in McCormick, S.C., and moved to Amarillo in 1959 from Greenwood, S.C. He was an Air Force veteran who served in the Korean War. For 36 years, he was an electrician for Asarco. Mr. Bell was a member of IBEW No. 602 and Paramount Baptist Church. He attended Amarillo College. He married Linda Lovato in 1961 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jeff Bell of Greenwood and Grady Bell of Arlington; a daughter, Brenda Epps of Amarillo; four brothers, Tony Bell and Darby Bell, both of Greenwood, Danny Bell of Ninety Six, S.C., and Ronnie Bell of Austin; a special friend, John Stultz of Amarillo; and four grandchildren. Margaret Lee Hobbs Margaret Lee Hobbs, 80, a former Amarillo resident, of Carrollton, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999. Vivian Welker Ballard Vivian Welker Ballard, 85, of Amarillo, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with Dr. J. Mrs. Ballard was born in Vigo Park and had lived in Amarillo for 45 years. She played guard for the Tulia basketball team and then played basketball at McMurray College. She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from West Texas State University. Mrs. Ballard was a retired special education teacher for the Amarillo Independent School District. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Amarillo Association of University Women, Amarillo Retired Teachers Association and attended St. Luke Presbyterian Church. She married Woodrow Wilson Ballard in 1934 at Tulia. He preceded her in death. Survivors include two daughters, Betsy Neely of Austin and Sue Barrow of Amarillo; two sons, Charles Dale Ballard of Richardson and Gary Ted Ballard of Canyon Lake; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
