Mr. Nanez was born in Mexico and had lived in Hereford since 1965. He had been a farm laborer. Survivors include three sons, Richard Nanez of Amarillo, Robert Nanez of San Antonio, and Rudy Nanez of Whitharral; four daughters, Jenny Rodriquez of Eldorado, Mary Sanchez and Linda Sanchez, both of Hereford, and Guadalupe Nanez of Amarillo; two brothers, Isidro Nanez of San Antonio and Vascillo Nanez of Mexico; two sisters, Margarita Nanez and Luce Maria Rodriquez of San Antonio; 33 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren. Dewey Wilson Marr PAMPA - Dewey Wilson Marr, 93, died Thursday, July 1, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Memory Gardens Cemetery with Lonny Robbins, pastor of Trinity Fellowship Church of Pampa, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Marr was born in Scurry County. He worked for the carbon-black plant in Borger for 20 years, and owned the El Capri Motel from 1961-1981. He was a Baptist. He and Audrey Burrow had been married for 30 years. She preceded him in death. Survivors include two sons, Larry Marr of Amarillo, and Darrell Marr of Moore, Okla.; a daughter, Dewolene Lytle of Amarillo; two sisters, Georgie Bates of Amarillo and Dixie Bynum of California; four grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren. Leta Maxine Smith CLARENDON - Leta Maxine Smith, 73, a former Clarendon resident, died Monday, June 28, 1999, at Shreveport, La. Services were at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Rader Funeral Home Chapel at Longview with the Rev. Steve Coleman officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. today in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo. Mrs. Smith was born in Corsicana and recently moved to Longview from Clarendon. She was a homemaker and a Baptist church member. Survivors include a daughter, Marquita Darland of Levelland; a son, Larry Smith of Longview; a brother, Bill Heddin of Albuquerque, N.M.; four sisters, Pauline Kennison and Edna Holtze, both of California, Grace Chapman of Washington state and Elsie Cates of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and eight greatgrandchildren. Paul L. Stevens HEREFORD - Paul L. Stevens, Ph.D., 78, died Thursday, July 1, 1999. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Lamar Room of Kings Manor in Hereford. Cremation will be by Memorial Park Crematory and arrangements are by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home. Dr. Stevens was born in Fort Worth and graduated from North Side High School in 1938. He received his bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University in 1942, his master's degree from the University of Houston in 1952, and his doctorate in educational administration in 1967. From 1943 until 1960, Dr. Stevens lived in Galena Park where he began his career in public schools, working up to deputy superintendent. From 1960 until 1964, he was superintendent of the Hereford schools. He returned to Hereford in 1998. While in Hereford, Dr. Stevens was president of the Kiwanis Club and chair of the administrative board at First Christian Church. He also was active in other professional and civic organizations. From 1967 until 1997, he taught educational leadership and was educational leadership program chair at Southwest Texas State University. He lived in Wimberley from 1967 until 1979 then lived in Austin until last year. He married Dale Wray in 1943 at Houston. She died in 1997. Survivors include two sons, Michael Stevens of Hereford and David Stevens of Waco; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family will be at 408 E. Fifth in Hereford. They suggest, in lieu of flowers, memorials be to the Dr. Paul L. Stevens Memorial Scholarship Fund at Texas A&M University, c/o Association of Former Students, P.O. Box 7368, College Station, TX 77840-7368. Lillian Pearl Stahl CHILDRESS - Lillian Pearl Stahl, 85, died Wednesday, June 30, 1999. Mrs. Stahl was born in San Augustine. She was a homemaker. She married Willie Otto Stahl in 1930 at Hollis, Okla. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Dorothy Ann Chambless of Childress and Marguerite McIntosh of Richardson; a son, Willie Otto Stahl Jr. of Fayetteville, Tenn.; two sisters, Mamie Stamps of Crowley and Amy Harris of Cupertino, Calif.; a brother, J.W. Mr. Gilbert was born in Fairmont and attended schools in Flomot, Quitaque and Houston. An Army veteran, he was a farmer and lifelong resident of Floyd County. He was a Baptist. Willie Lee McKinnon WELLINGTON - Willie Lee McKinnon, 84, of San Pedro, Calif., died Wednesday, June 30, 1999. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington. Mrs. McKinnon was born in Troy, Ala. She was a homemaker and was employed in restaurants. She moved from Panama City, Fla., to San Pedro where she lived for 21 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of San Pedro and Order of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by a son, Glenn McKinnon. Survivors include three sons, L.D. McKinnon of Miami, Fla., James McKinnon of Virginia and Willie J. McKinnon of Wellington; three daughters, Emma Jean McKinnon and Katherine Williams, both of San Pedro, and Mary Lean McKinnon of Panama City; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Susie F. For 28 years, she was employed by Palo Duro Nursing Home in Claude. She married Everett Roscoe Criss in 1930 at Tennessee. He died in 1965. Survivors include two sons, Everett Earl Criss of Montana and William Virgil Criss of Italy, Texas; four daughters, Rose Frances Hyde of Florence, Ala., Virginia Louise Woods of Canyon and Shirley Ann Milner and Jewel Dean Bednorz, both of Panhandle; a sister, Resie Boehening of Amarillo; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Lindell Brown of Borger officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Devotion in Westlawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Guilford was born in Benolly and had been a Borger resident for 25 years. She was a member of the Church of God in Christ and employed as a nurses aide in nursing homes. Survivors include her husband, Chester Guilford of Borger; two daughters, Malinda Johnson and Michelle Johnson, both of Dallas; five brothers, Howard Johnson, Milton Johnson, Johnny Johnson, Charles Johnson and Earl Johnson, all of Houston; two sisters, Loyce Johnson and Glenda Johnson, both of Houston; and five grandchildren. In 1986, he retired as a crane operator for Texas Pipe and Metal. He was an Army veteran and a Baptist. He married Odessa Jones in 1951 at Borger. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Pat Smith and Betty Blackwell, both of Borger; two sisters, Pauline Stover of Gainesville and Jean Brantley of Honey Grove; six grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren. In 1987, she retired as a nurse's aide from area nursing homes. She attended the First Mexican Baptist Church. She married Fernando Martinez at Plainview. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First Assembly of God with the Rev. Terry Bell and the Rev. Roy Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis. Mr. Moore was born in Dundee, Texas. He retired in 1974 as a farmer in the Portair community. He was a member of First Assembly of God. He married Lela L. Beasley in 1936 at Clovis. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bill Moore of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Fred Moore of Mountainair; a daughter, Berta Jayne of Eugene, Ore.; a brother, Jeff D. Moore of Edmond, Okla.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
