Mr. Salazar was born in Tulia, where he attended schools. He was employed by Excel in Plainview. He married Tiffany Gatica in 1993 at Tulia. Silas C. Brown LOCKNEY - Silas C. "Blue" Brown, 87, died Sunday, May 30, 1999, at Floydada. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the First Baptist Church of Quitaque with Pete Moseley and Stuart Smith officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery at Quitaque by Myers-Long Funeral Directors of Quitaque. Mr. Brown was born in Detroit, Texas. He farmed in Hollis before moving to the Turkey-Quitaque area in 1939, retiring in 1989. He also had worked as a tractor mechanic in Turkey. He had lived near Lockney since 1992. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Quitaque for many years and had been a member of the Church of Christ at Lockney since 1992. He married Ostella Miller in 1931 at Hollis, Okla. She died in 1991. He married Jewel Busby in 1992 at Lockney. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Patsy Rhoderick of Lubbock and Melanie Camp of Jacksboro; three sons, Bennie Don Brown and Carl Brown, both of Amarillo and Robert W. He married Irene Evans in 1946 at Blossom. He moved to Pampa in 1955. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He worked for 30 years with the city of Pampa Street Department, retiring in 1985. He was a Baptist. Mrs. Butts was born in Hillsboro and moved to Quanah in 1924. She was a member of the First Baptist Church serving as the Sunday school treasurer. She also was a volunteer at the local nursing home and worked in the Parent Teacher's Association, the Home Demonstration Club and Garden Club. She was a homemaker. She married Marvin Butts in 1928 at Quanah. Mrs. Schneider was born near Shattuck and was raised on the family farm near Lipscomb. With her husband, she farmed in Lipscomb County. She was active in her church where she played the organ and piano. She married Fred A. Schneider in 1928 at Lipscomb. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1989 and by an 11-month old daughter, Melba. Survivors include three sons, Mervin A. Schneider and Glen G. Schneider, both of Amarillo, and Ronald D. Schneider of Lipscomb; two daughters, Marlene L. Oglesby of Ottawa, Kan., and Carol F. Arrangements are by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home of Friona. Mr. Peace was born in Fletcher, Okla., and moved to Friona in 1961 from Lubbock. During the Korean War, he served in both the Navy and Air Force. He was a self-employed mechanic. He married Carmen Lara in 1983 at Friona. Paul Kennedy Cain QUANAH - Paul Kennedy Cain, 86, died Monday, May 31, 1999. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jesse Dea officiating. Burial will be in Chillicothe Cemetery by Price-Jackson Funeral Home. Mr. Cain was born in Montague County. After 20 years of service, he retired from the Pampa post office. He also was a retired farmer and former Hardeman County Commissioner for Precinct 2 from 1954 until 1956. Mr. Cain was a member of First United Methodist Church, Fellowship Sunday School Class and the Masonic Lodge. He married Helen Lois Sims in 1947 at Vernon. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1993 and two infant children. Survivors include two sisters, Estelle Cain of Chillicothe and Gussie Hollars of Nocona. Benny Joe Clifton MULESHOE - Benny Joe Clifton, 59, died Tuesday, June 1, 1999. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Stacy Conner, pastor, officiating. His body was donated to the Texas Tech Health Science Center with arrangements by Ellis Funeral Home of Muleshoe. Mr. Clifton was born in Memphis. An Army veteran, he served in the 46th Surgical Hospital MASH Unit. He was a certified peace officer with an advanced certificate who started with the Deaf Smith County Sheriff's Department in 1972. In 1989, Mr. Clifton moved to Muleshoe from Gaines County. He worked for the Bailey County Sheriff's Department from 1989 until 1998. For two years, he was director of major crimes and narcotics task force in Hale County. He also was a peace officer in Nolan, Brazoria and Upton counties. Mr. Clifton was a certified fire investigator and served on the West Texas Fire/Arson Investigators Association. He was a member of the Federal D-Mort Disaster Team with the National Disaster Medical System in FEMA, Region Six. He was a Baptist and a member of the Masonic Lodge. He married Pauline Fay Murry in 1963 at Perryton. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Steven Clifton of Muleshoe and Bradley Clifton of Front Royal, Va.; a daughter, Alana Clifton Weinberg of Clovis, N.M.; a sister, Melba Jean Elmore of Menard; a brother, Bobby Clifton of Borger; and a grandchild. Owen Andrews HEREFORD - Owen Andrews, 90, died Tuesday, June 1, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Parkside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Larry Perkins officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery. Mr. Andrews was born in Montague County and moved to Hereford in 1927 from Wellington. He had farmed and lived in and around Hereford for more than 70 years. In 1930, he was a charter member of the Frio Baptist Church. He married Georgia Sparkman in 1931. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Clark Andrews of Hereford, Glen Andrews of Avila, Mo., and Joe Andrews of Egeland, N.D.; two daughters, Veradelle Bruns and Frances Zetzsche, both of Amarillo; two sisters, Ruby Sparkman of Hereford and Elsie Jones of Canyon; 19 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. Kevin Deckard officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mrs. Hardaway was born in Littleton, N.H., and attended high school in Lincoln, N.H. In 1944, she moved to Canyon. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Canyon Cares, Canyon Quilters Guild, Sheriff's Posse, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the board of Dreamland Cemetery. She married John Hardaway in 1944. He died in 1986. She graduated from Bryan Adams High School at Dallas in 1968 and from Southern Methodist University in 1972. She had been a teacher of the deaf and a teacher and counselor in grade school and junior high. She taught in the Amarillo, Panhandle and Arlington independent school districts and at the Callier Hearing and Speech Center in Dallas. She married Carl Olson 25 years ago. Survivors include her husband; three children, Jennifer, Courtney and Chris; her father and stepmother, Richard DeFace and Charlene McCartney, both of Rockwall; a sister, Susan Washington of Rockwall; and two stepsisters, Vicki Burns of Cedar Creek Lake and Patty Ross of Rockwall. Mary Jo Mitchell Trent McCluer LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Mary Jo Mitchell Trent McCluer, 64, died Sunday, May 30, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in the Ironton Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Ron Willard and the Rev. Elton Cole officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery by Huson Funeral Home of Little Rock. Mrs. McCluer was raised in the Little Rock-Ironton area. She attended Cornerstone Church of the Nazarene. She worked as a sales associate for Sterling Department Stores and in 1953, was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. as a telephone operator. She began a meat and grocery retail career in 1964 at Sawyer's Market in the meat department and as a grocery clerk, where she was employed for 14 years. She married Lewis "Ed" McCluer in 1977 and later became joint owner of Ed's Meat Market. She later worked for Mega Market food and grocery retail chain. She also worked part time as a telephone operator and as a telephone receptionist. She was a volunteer for the Baseline Elementary School reading and writing tutoring program. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Linda Stanton of Wenatchee, Wash., and Sharon Rice of Little Rock; two sons, James "Jim" C. Trent III of Little Rock and Dennis Trent of Amarillo; five sisters, Letha Watkins and Edith Ashley, both of Hensley, Thelma Bradford of Amity, Juanita Brownlee of Sandersville, Miss., and Alma Shilling of Poyen; five brothers, Clifford Mitchell of Fairfield Bay, Harry Daggett and Val Mitchell, both of Fort Worth, Texas, Eugene Mitchell of Okolona, and Charles Mitchell of Amity; and six grandsons. Cleo Emma Patterson LUBBOCK - Cleo Emma Patterson, 97, died Sunday, May 30, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo with the Rev. Raymond Wolfe officiating. Arrangements are by Rix Funeral Directors. Mrs. Patterson was born in Fredrickton, Ohio. She moved to Amarillo in 1944 from Columbus, Ohio, and in 1978, moved to Lubbock. She was a bookkeeper with Pollack Paper Co. from 1944 until retiring in 1978. While living in Columbus, she was a member of the Columbus Civic Opera. She also was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Lubbock. She held national offices in the American Business Women Association and Toastmistress International. She married John Caldwell Patterson in 1922 at Columbus. He died in 1964. She also was preceded in death by a son, Samuel Edwin "Pat" Patterson, in 1980. Survivors include two brothers, Donald Conant of Sunbury, Ohio and Boyd Conant of Delaware, Ohio; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
