Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Dr. Charles Jones of Second Baptist Church, Bob Odell, Brady Christian and the Rev. Jim Perkins of First Baptist Church of Panhandle officiating. Arrangements are by BlackburnShaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce St. Mrs. Odell was born in Goforth, Ky., and moved to Amarillo 70 years ago. She and her husband operated a dairy farm in Carson county. For 60 years, she was a member of Second Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was superintendent of the primary department for 37 years. She joined First Baptist Church of Panhandle in April. She married Floyd G. Odell in 1924 at Carson County. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1983, and by a son, Ernest Odell, in 1986. Survivors include a daughter, Ernestine Blankenship of Amarillo, a sister, Mary E. Ewing of Panhandle; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. today in the funeral home. Canyon Richard Hotchkiss Richard Hotchkiss, 65, of Canyon, died Sunday, Feb. 28, 1999. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Richard Bales, pastor of First United Methodist Church, and Kevin Deckard, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be private. Mr. Hotchkiss was born in Huson, Mont., and attended Missoula County High School in Missoula, Mont. In 1951, he joined the Marines and served until 1954. He then farmed and ranched and worked in construction in Montana. In 1964, he was employed by Asarco in Amarillo and then was employed at its Zinc Plant and Copper Refinery for 21 years. From 1987 until January, he was in maintenance for Canyon Independent School District. He married Lynn Stevens Frazier in 1995 at Walsenburg, Colo. Survivors include his wife; a son, Mike Hotchkiss of Cutbank, Mont.; a stepdaughter, Lessie Frazier of Columbia, S.C.; four brothers, Ken Hotchkiss and Eddie Hotchkiss, both of Kellogg, Idaho, Al Hotchkiss of Reno, Nev., and Bill Hotchkiss of Ellensburg, Wash.; three sisters, Bea Erickson of Eagle, Idaho, Marie Peterson of Mead, Wash., and Ella Hotchkiss; and two grandchildren. Mrs. Shadden was born in Lubbock and lived in the Cotton Center/Hale Center area until 1939. From 1954 until 1973, she lived in Lubbock and then returned to Hale Center. Mrs. Shadden was a former member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Lubbock. In 1982, she retired from Caprock Business Forms and had also worked for Hester's. In Hale Center, she was a member of First Baptist Church. She married Odell Shadden in 1939. He died in 1987. Survivors include a son, William O. She married Scott Prather in 1935 at Abernathy. He died in 1975. He retired from the Air Force in 1972, where he was a security police officer in the canine division. Jack Byrd TUCUMCARI, N.M. - Jack Byrd, 76, died Monday, March 1, 1999. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Dunn Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Byrd was born in Rana and had been a longtime Tucumcari resident. He was an Army veteran of World War II where he attained the rank of sergeant. A truck driver, he owned and operated Byrd Truck Service. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Gail Byrd, in 1969. Burial will be in Tucumcari Memorial Park Cemetery by Dunn Funeral Home. Mr. Mullenax was born in Lake Arthur and was raised in Tatum. For four years, he served with the Air Force. From 1982 until 1985, he was a meat cutter at Cooper's Market. He had lived in Albuquerque for the past 10 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Odessa Fanetia Mullenax, in 1996. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Gruver Cemetery by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home. Mr. Miller was born in Oilton and moved to the Guymon area in 1947 from Webb City. He attended school at Dewey. He worked for Phillips Petroleum, retiring in 1976 as a maintenance foreman. He was a member of First Christian Church and of Gruver Masonic Lodge. He married Evaleen May Barnes in 1937. She died in 1967. He married Agnes Armstrong in 1975. She died in October. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Jerilynn Gardner. Mrs. Cantu was born in Monterey, Mexico. She moved to Anton in 1951 from Raymondville. In November, she became a naturalized citizen in a ceremony at Bender Terrace. She was a homemaker and member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. She married Juan N. Cantu in 1929 at Stinton. He died in 1983. Mr. Addington had raised horses and was the owner of the Longhorn Motel in Boise City, Okla., for 10 years. He also had lived in Ruidoso, N.M., for 10 years. He married Alice Copeland in 1948 in Amarillo. Georgia St. Mr. Graham was born in Silverton and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1951 where he played football. He entered the Navy in 1951 and retired as an operations specialist in 1979. For 13 years, he was the Naval Reserve recruiter in Amarillo. Mr. Graham graduated from Amarillo College in 1983. He worked for Mesa Petroleum for 10 years, retiring in 1991, and for AM-West. He was a member of San Jacinto United Methodist Church where he started the Saints Alive Sunday School Class in 1995. He moved to Fritch two years ago. He married Betty L. Fulton in 1953 at Amarillo. He was palace engineer during the Nuremberg trials. He married Patricia in 1955 at Greenville, Miss. Powell in 1964 at Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dr. James R. Powell of Abilene; and Lacy Edward Powell of Amarillo; four daughters, Kathy Armstrong and Mary E. Kiser, both of Amarillo, Betty Tyler of Quanah and Stephanie Dutcher of Dumas; three brothers, Noeliln Powell of Idalou, William Virgil Powell Jr., of Cookville, Tenn., and James Powell of Quanah; five sisters, Ina Mae Johnson of Mangum, Okla., Juanita Walker and Wynell Lankford, both of Altus, Okla., Kathleen Stout of Duke, Okla., and Barbara McKinley of Quanah; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Veterans Administration Family Council, Crown of Texas Hospice or a charity of one's choice.
