Georgia St. Zelma Ruth Holcomb Zelma Ruth "Toots" Holcomb, 84, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, 315 E. Fifth, with Brent Ashby, minister of pastoral care of Paramount Terrace Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. After living in Texas for five years, Mrs. Holcomb returned to her hometown of Lone Tree, Iowa, for 10 years before returning to Texas. A longtime Amarillo resident, she was a waitress at the Amarillo Stockyard Cafe. She was a member of the American Legion and Sanborn Baptist Church. During World War II, she served as a Navy WAVE from 1944 until 1946 in Shumaker, Calif. She retired in 1980 from Sheppard Air Force Base Hospital with an Outstanding Service award. She married Sterling Holcomb in 1946 at Clayton, N.M. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1978 and by a daughter, Sheila Lynn Holcomb, in 1952. Survivors include a daughter, Raynetta Montgomery of Amarillo; five grandsons, Brandon Matteson of Temecula, Calif., Vinnie Matteson and Colt Montgomery, both of Amarillo, Robert Findley of Houston and Charles Findley of Waco; and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Blades was born in Guymon and was raised southeast of Hardesty, where he attended school. He married Dessie Brewer in 1950 at Perryton, Texas. He was preceded in death by a son, Norman. Mr. Plummer was born in Hereford, Texas, and had been a long time Tucumcari resident. He was a rancher. Rex Jones CLAYTON, N.M. - Rex Jones, 74, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church of Clayton with the Rev. Mr. Jones was born in Lamesa, Texas, and moved to Gladstone with his family when he was four. The family later moved to Grenville where he graduated from high school. Mr. Jones farmed and ranched in the Grenville area until his retirement. He then moved to Springer in 1992. Survivors include two sisters, Mary Sue Tevebaugh of Irvine, Calif., and Helen Holcomb of Springer; and seven nieces and nephews. Davis in 1949 at Monahans. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Griffin was born in Little Rock, Ark., was raised in Arkansas and East Texas, and had lived in Pampa most of her life. She moved to Olivia in 1983. She had been a member of Central Baptist Church of Pampa for more than 60 years. Her first marriage was to Albert Edmonds; he preceded her in death. She married Earl Griffin in 1933, who also preceded her in death, as did her son, Alfred Otto Edmonds. Mr. Bezner was a longtime resident of Deaf Smith County. He served on various boards, including Hereford National Farm Loan Association, the Consumer's Fuel Co-op, Deaf Smith Water District, Deaf Smith County Farm Bureau, the Federal Land Bank, and ASCS office. He had been an election judge for Precinct 1. He also was a Grand Knight District Deputy, Faithful Navigator of the Knights of Columbus, a past member of the Hereford Rotary Club, and a member of the Hereford Senior Citizens Association and the Hereford Country Club. Survivors include a son, Frank J. Bezner Jr. of Hereford; six daughters, Marcella Crabtree of Canyon, Bernadette Kalka and Jane Matthews, both of Hereford, Carol Ann Bedwell of Abilene, Laverne Schaff of Canton, Mass., and Judy LaFleur of Fort Collins, Colo.; two brothers, A.J. "Doc" Bezner of Dalhart, and Louis Bezner of Amarillo; five sisters, Ursula Borer of Toledo, Ohio, Rita Howerton of San Leandro, Calif., Francis Reynolds of Amarillo, Elizabeth White of Dumas, and Sister Loretta Bezner Garrison of New York; 23 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vickie Tyler. She was employed for several years at Coon Memorial Hospital in Dalhart and was a member of Baileyboro Baptist Church in Baileyboro. She was a homemaker. For 17 years, he worked for Bill Hodges Trucking and was a truck driver in the oil field for many years. He was a member of The Carpenter's Church. He married Dolores Bryan in 1959 at Wheeler. She died in 1994. Survivors include a son, Bryan Neal Bowen of Pampa; three daughters, Sheril Fields of Pampa, Donna Hild of Haskell and Dynette Neil of Pampa; two sisters, Lessie Regan of Snyder, Okla., and Gladys Miller of Gilmer; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Mrs. Pena was born in Galiana, Mexico, and grew up in Georgewest. After her marriage, she moved to Mathis then moved to Plainview in 1969. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Guadalupanas and Adoracion Noctura. She married Angel Pena in 1934. Survivors include three daughters, Virginia Ysaguirre of Amarillo and Juanita Perez and Angelita Herenandez, both of Plainview; three sons, Perfecto Pena Sr., Gilbert Pena Sr., and Pedro Pena Sr., all of Plainview; a brother, Pablo Bernal of Georgewest; a sister, Juanita Cuevas of Georgewest; 39 grandchildren; 97 greatgrandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Rhonda Marie Getman DUMAS - Rhonda Marie Getman, 46, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 1999. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Home. Mrs. Getman was born in Corpus Christi and had lived in Dumas since 1965. She was a homemaker and member of First Street Church of Christ. She married Clarence Getman in 1971 at Dumas. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Susan Getman and Jenny Campbell, both of Dumas; her father, Jim Richesin of Sunray; a brother, Denny Richesin of Farmington, N.M.; a sister, Gilda Weaver of Evanston, Wyo.; and a grandchild. Survivors include two brothers, Samuel Camel and Earl Jackson, both of Borger. Abbye Briton Warner CLARENDON - Abbye Briton Warner, 87, died Sunday, Aug. 1, 1999. Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Ivey Edwards, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Mrs. Warner was born on the Parker Ranch and had been a Clarendon resident since 1918. She was a longtime member of the Clarendon Rebekah Lodge and a 50-plus year member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. A homemaker, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church for more than 80 years. She married Haverde Taylor Warner in 1932 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1975. Survivors include a son, Walter M. Warner of Clarendon; a brother, Walter Marcus Parker of Farmington, N.M.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Lela Belle Whitehead CLARENDON - Lela Belle Whitehead, 80, died Saturday, July 31, 1999. Mrs. Whitehead was born in Marlow, Okla., and lived in Amarillo until moving to Howardwick in 1977. A homemaker, she was a member of the Clarendon Order of Eastern Star No. 6 and First United Methodist Church of Clarendon. She moved to Clarendon in 1998. She married Lawrence Lee Whitehead in 1961 at Tucumcari, N.M. He died in 1997. Survivors include two stepdaughters, Judy Burns of Lincoln, R.I., and Donna Kelley of Norfolk, Va.; four step-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild.
