Entombment will be at a later date in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Rodgers was born in Alfalfa County, Okla., and moved to Amarillo from Lubbock in 1986. She was a selfemployed bookkeeper and attended Polk Street United Methodist Church. She married James Whit Rodgers in 1932 at Clayton, N.M. He died in 1992. Survivors include a sister, Viola Cassel of Grand Junction, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews. The family requests memorials be to the American Heart Association. Jonella Lynn Anderson Jonella Lynn Anderson, 32, of Amarillo, died Thursday, July 1, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Mr. Campbell was born in Blum and moved to Amarillo from El Paso in 1977. He served with the Army during World War II. He farmed in Crosbyton and Seminole and owned and operated Three-Way Grocery for seven years. Until two years ago he helped operate Auto Auction Transport. He was a member of Amarillo Senior Citizens Association and was a Methodist. He married Anna White in 1947 at Clovis, N.M. Survivors include his wife; a son, David Campbell of Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter, Audrey Black of Amarillo; a brother, Robert Earl Campbell; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Luther Clyde Reynolds Luther Clyde Reynolds, 46, of Amarillo, died Friday, July 2, 1999. Mr. Reynolds was born in Amarillo, where he lived for most of his life. He was a commercial pilot and an aircraft mechanic and inspector. Bennie Rushing Robison Bennie Rushing Robison, 97, of Amarillo, died Friday, July 2, 1999. She was a homemaker, taught school in Joaquin and attended Texas Christian University. In 1924, she married Newton J. Robison and in 1926 they began a partnership in ministry. For 60 years, she lived in Center; Raleigh, N.C.; and Amarillo. She was a member of First Christian Church in Amarillo. She and her husband, established Lake Tanglewood Community Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994. Survivors include a son, Newton J. Robison Jr. of Lubbock; a daughter, Doris Reyman of Amarillo; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was also a homemaker and a member of the Writers Guild and Westminster Presbyterian Church. Her husband, Frederick Wilkins Dodson Jr., died in 1993. Mrs. Sanders was born in Paris, Texas, and served with the Navy during World War II. She received a bachelor of art in education from Oklahoma State University and worked in civil service for 20 years with the Department of Agriculture. She was a Christian. She married Robert E. Sanders in 1935 at Stillwater, Okla. He died in 1963. She graduated from Guymon High School in 1939 and received her bachelor's degree in business education from Panhandle A&M University in 1953. She was a member of Delta Pi Epsilon, Beta Chapter No. 304. She married Grady Leonard Adcox in 1957 at Clayton, N.M. He died in 1968. She taught school in Oklahoma and Texas for more than 20 years, retiring in 1988. She was an active member of Comanche Trail Church of Christ, Amarillo Senior Citizens Association and the American Association of Retired Persons. She was a lifetime member of the Panhandle A&M Alumni and Scholarship Association. Survivors include a daughter, Leloy Albright of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Carol David of Dumas; a stepson, Greg Adcox of Amarillo; and eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Judy Sharon McIntosh Judy Sharon McIntosh, 51, of Amarillo, died Saturday, July 3, 1999. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. Survivors include four daughters, Sheila Brooks, Angela Graves, Rebecca Britt and Shannon Morton, all of Amarillo; a son, Jimmy McIntosh of Amarillo; her father, H.L. The body will be available for viewing from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Area Ethel Hooper PLAINVIEW - Ethel Hooper, 93, of Halfway, died Wednesday, June 30, 1999. Services were at 4 p.m. Saturday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Plainview. Burial was in Halfway Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home. Mrs. Hooper was born in Colfax, Iowa, and moved to Halfway when she was 2 years old. She attended schools in Westside, Halfway and Plainview and then attended Lippert's Business College in Plainview. In 1920, she began her 27year career in farming. Mrs. Hooper was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for 18 years. In 1994, she was named Pioneer Woman of the Plains. She married William "Bill" Hooper in 1923 at Plainview. He died in in 1937. She also was preceded in death by a son, Carl Hopper, in 1978. Survivors include a son, Henry Hooper of Halfway; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Lutheran Hour Ministries or Vista Care Hospice in Plainview. Edward Henry Brainard II CANADIAN - Edward Henry "Ed" Brainard II, 72, died Thursday, July 1, 1999. Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Brad Walker and the Rev. Robin Gantz officiating. Burial will be in Edith Ford Cemetery by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors. Mr. Brainard was born to a Texas Panhandle pioneer family in Canadian and was raised at John's Creek on the Canadian River. He attended Blodgett School, Crouch Creek School in Roberts County and New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, N.M. He graduated from Canadian High School. Mr. Brainard served in the Army at Fort Knox, Ky., Governor's Island, N.Y., and in Germany from 1954 until 1956. After his discharge, he returned to family ranches in the Panhandle. He lived on the John's Creek Ranch until moving to Pampa in 1973. Mr. Brainard was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Canadian; member and past-president of the Panhandle Livestock Association; and member and director of Texas Hereford Association. He also served on the Animal Health Committee of Texas and was a member of Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and the National Cattlemen's Beef Association. He married Lilith Maizell Martin in 1958 at Pampa. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Sally Wicker and Amy Brainard, both of Canadian, Berklee Clements of Skellytown and Sena Brainard of Pampa; a son, Swasey Brainard of Pampa; a sister, Mary Kay Christner of Wheeler; a cousin, Ben McIntyre of Spearman; and eight grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Canadian Presbyterian Church Building Fund; Canadian River Valley Museum; Hemphill County Library; Panhandle Livestock Association Scholarship Fund; New Mexico Military Institute or a favorite charity. The family will be at 601 Kingman St. in Canadian. Laura Wimberly Guthrie WHEELER - Laura Wimberly Guthrie, 98, died Friday, July 2, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in First Baptist Church in Wheeler with the Rev. Toby Henson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Wheeler Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler. Mrs. Guthrie was born in Lacasa, Stephens County. She graduated from Abernathy High School in 1918 and Wayland Baptist College in 1922. From 1922 until 1926, she taught in various schools. In 1926, she attended the University of Texas. She married Lee Guthrie in 1924 at Matador. With her husband, she coowned and operated the Chevrolet dealership and service station in Matador from 1926 until 1930, when they moved to Wheeler. In Wheeler, they operated the Rogue Theater and Mustang Drive Inn from 1930 until 1979 and owned the Wheeler Cable TV service until 1976. Mrs. Guthrie was twice honored as Woman of the Year. She was a charter member of the Wednesday Study Club, an active member of the Wheeler Chamber of Commerce, a member of First Baptist Church and a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a member of the Senior Citizens, where she started the quilting club. She also was a member of the Garden Club and a bridge club member, and volunteered at the Wheeler Care Center. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1958; and by a son, Marion Lee "Corky" Guthrie, in 1980. Survivors include five grandchildren, Melinda Whorton of Wheeler, Steve Guthrie of Smithville, Rose Aston of Borger, Joe Guthrie of Shamrock and Bobby Guthrie of Amarillo; a daughter-in-law, Lydia Guthrie of Amarillo; seven greatgrandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Joe Frank Roberson Sr. PAMPA - Joe Frank Roberson Sr., 81, formerly of Pampa, died Friday, July 2, 1999, in Houston. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Todd Dyess, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Roberson was born in Gordon. He graduated from Gordon High School and from North Texas State University in Denton with a bachelor of science degree in biology, chemistry and physics. He was a production manager with Celanese Corp. until his retirement in 1982. He was a charter member of Top of Texas Masonic Lodge No. 1381 AF&AM. In 1952, he moved from Bishop to Pampa, where he was a member of First United Methodist Church. He married Margaret Marr in 1940 at Meridian. Survivors include his wife of Katy; and a son, Joe Roberson Jr. of Katy. Lizzie Caldwell SHAMROCK - Lizzie Caldwell, 74, died Wednesday, June 30, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Church of God with the Rev. Joe Stulir, pastor, and the Rev. Gary Thomas of Amarillo officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery by Wright Funeral Directors. Mrs. Caldwell was born in Blossom and lived in Shamrock for the past 50 years, where she was a children's caretaker. She was a homemaker and a member of St. James Baptist Church. She married George Caldwell in 1958 at Wheeler. He died in 1984. Survivors include a son, Willie G. Caldwell of Pampa; a daughter, Anna White of Shamrock; a brother, Douglas Reasnor of Paris, Texas; a sister, Maxine Harrison of Paris; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Conrad Williams MULESHOE - Conrad Williams, 86, died Thursday, July 1, 1999. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home. Mr. Williams was born in St. Louis, Okla., and moved to Bailey County in 1929. He was a pilot and farmer, and from 1966 until 1998 he owned and operated Buffalo Farms in the Stegall Community. He was a member of the American Bonanza Airplane Society and the Texas Wheat Growers Association and served on the Three Way School Board and the Bailey County Tax Equalization Board. He was a Baptist. He married Mildred Phipps in 1941 at Stegall. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Carter Williams and Wendell Williams, both of Lubbock; a daughter, Wenonah Tuttle of Denver; a sister, Chloe Klutts of Lubbock; a brother, Glen Williams of Muleshoe; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mack Fletcher SUNRAY - Mack Fletcher, 80, died Friday, July 2, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Sunray Baptist Church with the Rev. Philip Hilton, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lane Memorial Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Fletcher was born in Dickens County and had lived in Sunray since 1946. He was a former resident of Borger and retired from Phillips Petroleum. He was a member of Sunray Baptist Church. He married Virginia Riggle in 1989 at Pampa. Harris, pastor of Priest Park Church of God, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Ross was born in Hardy and lived in Pampa for 30 years before moving to Topeka, Kan., 10 years ago. She was a cook at Dyer's Barbecue for many years and was a member of the Church of God. She married William "Bill" Ross in 1929. He died in 1964. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Ruby Pearl Vealsquze, in June. Survivors include a brother, James Melson of Newcastle, Okla.; and a sister, Juanita Kincaid of Abilene. He married Patsy Gossett in 1960 at Portales. He worked as a city clerk, an accountant and a truck driver for A&M Building Systems. He owned Quality Auto Salvage. For the last five years, he had owned Wide Open Doors. He was a member of El Desayuno Kiwanis Club. Arrangements are by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis. Mrs. Pruitt was born in Forrest. She attended school in Forrest and graduated from Melrose High School. She married Pat Pruitt in 1926 at Melrose. She was a homemaker and was active in the Melrose Church of Christ and the Quilting Club at the Melrose Senior Citizens Center. She was preceded in death by her husband. Graveside services were at 2 p.m. on June 16 in Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev. Jerry Berry officiating. Arrangements were by Ellis Funeral Home. Mrs. Daniel was born in Little Rock, Ark. She attended high school and graduated from cosmetology school. She married Truman R. Daniel in 1952. Survivors include her husband; a sister, Pauline Benson of Hemet, Calif.; a brother, Pete Campbell of Santa Ana, Calif.; a son, Lt. Col. Gene Rutland of Belton; a daughter, Patricia Vahn of Amarillo; four grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren.
