Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church in Shamrock with the Rev. John Dorn, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. York was born in Groom and lived most of her life in Amarillo. In 1997, she moved to Shamrock where she was employed by the U.S. Postal Service. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Alysha York of Shamrock; three sons, John York of Shamrock, Randy Wilson of Fayetteville, N.C., and Jason Painter of Amarillo; her parents, Nancy Farr of Shamrock and Burl Painter of Groom; and two brothers, Bill Hodges and Wesley Farr, both of Amarillo. The family will be at 5201 Floyd. They suggest memorials be to First United Methodist Church of Shamrock or Tascosa High School Naval Junior ROTC. New Mexico Esther Davis PORTALES, N.M. - Esther Davis, 94, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999, at Clovis. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Wheeler Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Stacy Conner, the Rev. D.J. Lewis and the Rev. Wayne Reagan officiating. Burial will be in Portales Cemetery. Mrs. Davis was born in Jones County, Texas, and moved to Portales in 1944. In 1974, she moved to Floyd. She was a Baptist. She married E.E. Davis in 1921 at Abilene, Texas. He died in 1970. Survivors include four sons, Floyd Davis of Clovis, Vernon Davis and L.A. Davis, both of Floyd, and Carl Davis of Canyon, Texas; four daughters, Juanita Reagan of La Luz, Dorothy Arnote of Amarillo, Bonnie Kennedy of Tatum and Geneva Malone of Dimmitt, Texas; a sister, Nola Rogers of Mineral Wells, Texas; 20 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren. Patricia Ellingwood CLOVIS, N.M. - Patricia "Pat" Ellingwood, 57, died Monday, March 1, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in The Chapel, 1500 N. Thornton St., with Dr. James Burke officiating. Burial will be in Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery by Muffley Funeral Home. Mrs. Ellingwood was born in El Paso, Texas, and had lived in Clovis most of her life. She graduated from Clovis High School in 1959 and earned her bachelor's degree in accounting from Eastern New Mexico University at Portales. She had worked as an accountant and budget analyst for civil service at Cannon Air Force Base. She was a past member of Business and Professional Women's Club, Beta Phi of Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority and Phi Kappa Phi Honorary Society. She was preceded in death by a son, James M. Streeter. Survivors include two daughters, Terri L. Bodine of Clovis and Michelle Nicole Streeter of Pomona, Calif.; a sister, Judy Gambill of Clovis; and a granddaughter. Rex McIntyre CLOVIS, N.M. - Rex "Singin' Sam" McIntyre, 89, died Monday, March 1, 1999. Private family services are planned. The body was donated to the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. Arrangements were by Muffley Funeral Home. Mr. McIntyre married Kathleen Wade in 1939 at Akron, Ohio. They owned and operated Singin' Sam's Sewing Center at Tucumcari, Dalhart, Texas, and then in Clovis in 1968. He was a Baptist and a member of the Dalhart Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his wife in November. Survivors include a daughter, Susan Wheat of Clovis; a son, Jerry Wade McIntyre of Houston; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Oklahoma Max Raymond Pearson BALKO, Okla. - Max Raymond Pearson, 66, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Christian Church of Perryton, Texas, with Dale Pearson officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery at Perryton by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Inc. of Perryton. Mr. Pearson was born in Ochiltree County and moved to Balko from the Perryton area where he had lived for 37 years. He was a farmer and raised Angus Cattle. He also had worked for Beaver County for 18 years. He was a member of First Christian Church of Perryton. He married Lanelle Dotson in 1953 at Texhoma, Okla. Survivors include his wife; a son, Mike Pearson of Balko; two daughters, Joyce Zack of Tyrone and Barbara Mason of Laverne; two brothers, Kenneth Pearson of Farnsworth, Texas, and Tex Pearson of Perryton; a sister, Joyce Statucki of Onalaska, Texas; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family requests memorials be to the Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Center, 1500 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79159-1025. Richard David Conn BOISE CITY, Okla. - Richard David Conn, 86, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Cimarron Mortuary Chapel with Don Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in Boise City Cemetery. Mr. Conn was born in Morgans Mill, Texas, and lived in Aberdeen, Texas, Eric and Moorewood. He attended school in Moorewood and then moved to Boise City between 1945 and 1950. He worked for various farmers. Survivors include two sisters, Dixie Hutcheson of Bakersfield, Calif., and Florence Renfro of San Jose, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to help purchase a monument for Mr. Conn. They will be accepted at Cimarron Mortuary. Elsewhere Michael L. Guillot DALLAS - Michael L. "Toby" Guillot, 39, a former longtime Amarillo resident, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999. Services were at 2 p.m. Friday in Rix Funeral Home Chapel at Lubbock with the Rev. Eddie Marcum officiating. Burial was in the city of Lubbock Cemetery. Mr. Guillot was born in Lubbock and lived in Amarillo several years before moving to Dallas about five years ago. He graduated from Phillips High School at Phillips in 1978. He worked for Truett-Worrall Co. in Dallas, where he was a brake and alignment specialist. He was a member of First Christian Church of Borger. Survivors include his mother, Pat Guillot of Ruidoso, N.M.; his father, G.L. Guillot of Marlin; two sisters, Vicki Tindall of Austin and Neta Lawson of Fritch; a brother, Billy Mitchell of Austin; and grandfather, Gus Beevers. Allie Rae Collins Parker LUBBOCK - Allie Rae Collins Parker, 86, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Sanders Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Kim E. Clowe, minister of music at First Christian Church, and the Rev. Michael S. Passmore, pastor of First Christian Church, officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Claude Cemetery. Mrs. Parker was born in Claude. She received her bachelor's degree and master's degree in accounting from Texas Tech University. In 1943, she moved from Melrose, N.M., to Lubbock. Mrs. Parker retired in 1978 after 33 years as business teacher at Monterey High School. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Phi Sigma Alpha and the First Christian Church. She married Bob Parker in 1933 at Amarillo. He died in 1996. Survivors include a son, H. Neal parker of Houston; a daughter, Elizabeth Rae Parker of Manor; and a sister, Elizabeth Baker of Panhandle. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Peggy Joyce Sowder LITTLEFIELD - Peggy Joyce Sowder, 66, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church in Sudan with the Rev. Cliff Hargrove, pastor, and Mike Sowder officiating. Burial will be in Littlefield Memorial Park by Hammons Funeral Home of Littlefield. Mrs. Sowder was born in Milam County and moved to Littlefield from Bula in 1982. She was employed as bookkeeper and cotton buyer for the Bula Gin. She was a former member of the Bula Baptist Church. She married Bill Sowder in 1949 at Bailey County. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Terry Sowder of Enochs and Jerry Sowder of Bula; two daughters, Joyce Risinger of Knox City and Rhea Lyn Newton of Ralls; two brothers, Kenneth Campbell of Edmonson and Lynn Campbell of Harmony Community; five sisters, Estelle Waldrop and Geneva Wassom, both of Andrews, Glorice Pirkle of Plainview and Nina Edwards and Doris Mulkey, both of Roswell, N.M.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Littlefield EMS or the Sudan Fire Department. Area Jim Durham KRESS - Jim Durham, 96, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ron Kelley, pastor, and the Rev. Gene Louder, retired Methodist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park Cemetery at Plainview by Wood Dunning Funeral Home of Plainview. Mr. Durham was born in Indian Territory and was raised in Wheeler County where he attended school. He moved to Silverton in 1915 and to Petersburg in 1920. He moved to the Whitfield community east of Kress, where he farmed. He married Esther Lela King in 1930 at Clovis, N.M. They moved back to Petersburg, later moving to Swisher County where he farmed and raised cattle five miles east of Kress. He retired in 1977 and moved into Kress. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1987. Survivors include two sons, Royce Durham and Jimmy Durham, both of Kress; four daughters, Doris Sudduth of Plainview, Darlene Bain of Edmonson, Nelda Hardin of Abernathy and Donna Korchenko of Lubbock; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and six greatgreat-grandchildren. Vasta P. Fincher QUANAH - Vasta P. Fincher, 100, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Clinton Young and Frank Fincher, her son, officiating. Private graveside services will be in Quanah Memorial Park by Price-Jackson Funeral Home. Mrs. Fincher was born in Montague County. Prior to her marriage, she taught school. In 1920, she moved to Hardeman County where she taught piano for more than 20 years. The Time Record News selected Mrs. Fincher as Farm Woman of the Month in 1952. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church for more than 50 years where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She married Ernest Una Fincher in 1920 at Montague County. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1965 and by two sons, John in 1977 and Avis Deloyn in 1996. Survivors include three sons, Troy Fincher of Moline, Ill., Bill Fincher of Pleasant Valley, Iowa, and Frank Fincher of Jerico Springs, Mo.; four daughters, Ursula Cecere of Boston, Ernestine Montgomery of Amarillo, Kittie Lou Miller of Oklahoma City and Margie Cavener of Eldorado, Okla.; a brother, Gid Prather of Saint Jo; 21 grandchildren; and 33 greatgrandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church. Mamie Lee Burrow TULIA - Mamie Lee Burrow, 76, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Davenport of the church officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery by Wallace Funeral Home of Tulia. Miss Burrow was born and raised in Swisher County where she attended Houston Community schools. She attended the Tulia Satellite Center and until three years ago attended summer camp at Camp New Dawn in Wayside. Survivors include five sisters, Iva Ferguson and Leota Miller, both of Tulia, Fontella Hunt of Hutchinson, Kan., Lola Mae Sanderson of Springlake and Helen LaDuke of Amarillo; 24 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews. Beulah Farris STRATFORD - Beulah Farris, 91, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Stratford Cemetery with Mike Talley, minister of Church of Christ of Stratford, officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Farris was born in Coleman County where she was a longtime resident. She moved to Stratford in 1941 where she was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ. She married Dick Farris in 1926 at Coleman County. He died in 1966. Survivors include two daughters, Bobbie Farris of Dumas and Bonnie Cryer of Texhoma; four sisters, Jewell Anderson of Santa Anna, Ruby Huggins and Mary Brannan, both of Stratford, and Catherine Haney of Dalhart; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family will be at 608 N. Grace. They suggest memorials be to Coldwater Manor, P.O. Box 1189, Stratford, TX 79084. Grace Wilson MEMPHIS - Grace Wilson, 92, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Fairview Cemetery with Tom Anderson and Tom Posey officiating. Arrangements are by Memphis Funeral Home. Miss Wilson was born in Memphis. Until 1970, she owned and operated the local swimming pool and skating rink. She was a homemaker and member of the Church of Christ. Survivors include a sister, Dorcus Ruth Foster of Memphis; three nephews; and four nieces. Viewing will be today at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be to Crown of Texas Hospice. George A. Denny HAPPY - George A. Denny, 81, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Wayside Community Church with the Rev. John Baird, pastor, and Dr. Dudley Moore Jr., officiating. Burial will be in Wayside Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mr. Denny was born in Iowa Park and graduated from Panhandle High School in 1935. He attended Texas Tech University for two years where he played on the Red Raiders football team. He lived in Pampa for two years then moved to Wayside community. For more than 50 years, Mr. Denny was in the farming and ranching business. He was a steward for the Wayside Methodist Church for 50 years and received his 50-year pin in 1994 from the Canyon City Masonic Lodge No. 730. For 20 years, he was on the Swisher County Rural Electric Association board and was one of its organizers. He married Thelma Lee Stevens in 1938 at Clovis, N.M. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Lee Denny, in 1964. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mary Kate McLain of Happy; and two grandchildren.
