Patton E.F. "Curly" Patton, 83, of Amarillo, died Friday, April 2, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 Bell St., with the Rev. Harold Turner officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens. Mr. Patton was born in Plainview and moved to Amarillo in 1959 from California, where he was a pastor of four different churches. He was a plumber, a member of Northside Full Gospel Church, and had been an ordained minister of the Pentecostal Church of God since 1953. He built Pleasant Valley Pentecostal Church of God and was the pastor for eight years. He married Ruby M. Seal in 1938 at Fort Worth. Survivors include his wife; a son, Bobby D. Patton of Amarillo; two daughters, Joan Tracy and Joy Losh, both of Amarillo; two brothers, Joe Patton of Hesperia, Calif., and Homer Patton of Fort Worth; three sisters, Mae Russell of Abilene, Ollie Millsap of Fort Worth, and Alice Woody of Cisco; 13 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. New Mexico Carmen Naomi Plute CLAYTON, N.M. - Carmen Naomi Plute, 86, died Saturday, April 3, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Clayton Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Andy Husted, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Hass Funeral Directors. Mrs. Plute was born in Bogard, Mo., had been a long-time resident of Union County, and was a member of First United Methodist Church. She married Milton H. Bangerter in 1937 at Clayton. He died in 1941. She married Joseph Plute in 1948 at Sante Fe. He died in 1958. Survivors include two sons, Robert M. Bangerter of Castle Rock, Colo., and John Plute of Rancho Cordova, Calif.; a daughter, Belva Mayfield of Livermore, Calif.; six grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren. Elsewhere Claudia Pierce O'Neill Moore STUARTS DRAFT, Va. - Claudia Pierce O'Neill Moore, 103, died Friday, April 2, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church, Fountain Hill, Ark., with the Rev. Bill Elton officiating. Burial will be in Flat Creek Cemetery in Fountain Hill. Arrangements are by Jones Brothers Funeral Home, Hamburg, Ark. Mrs. Moore was born in Ashley County, Ark., attended the University of Arkansas and graduated from East Central College in Ada, Okla. She taught elementary school in Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Amarillo. Her first husband, Alphonso O'Neill, died in 1972. Her second husband, Dee Moore, died in 1984. Survivors include a son, James A. O'Neill of Arlington; a daughter, Frances Lusk Baldwin of Staunton, Va.; two brothers, Roy Pierce of Edmund, Okla., and Quentin Pierce of Crossett, Ark.; a sister, Helen Jones of Woodlawn, Ark.; a grandchild; a great-grandchild; and a great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. W.E. Hancock LUBBOCK - W.E. Hancock, 97, died Friday, April 2, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Oakwood Baptist Church with the Rev. Cleve Haley and J.C. McClesky officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park by Resthaven Funeral Home. Mr. Hancock was born in Morgan Mill, and moved to Borden County in 1916. He attended North Texas Teacher's College and taught in West Texas rural schools. He completed a bachelor's degree at Texas University in 1927, and later, a master's at Texas Tech. He entered school administration first as a high school principal and later as superintendent of the public schools of Chillicothe, of Quanah, and of Sudan, where he was at the time of his retirement in 1970. He served with the Navy during World War II. After retiring, he moved to Lubbock, where he was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Lions Club, Rotary Club, Texas Retired Teacher's Association, and Oakwood Baptist Church. He married Boyce Young in 1945 at Tahoka. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Rue Jean Hancock of Midland; a brother, Homer Hancock of O'Donnell; and two sisters, Roxie Richter of Gardnerville, Nev., and Dimple Berzett of Dallas. Kansas Buddie Lawrence Heaton ULYSSES, Kan. - Buddie Lawrence Heaton, 37, of Wyandotte, Okla., Rhonda Lynn Talbert and Cindy Jo Galloway, both of Ulysses; and his grandmother, Faye Hagaman of Hugoton. Morlow Dees PLAINVIEW - Morlow Dees, 83, died Saturday, April 3, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Lemons Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor of College Heights Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery. Mr. Dees was born in Marlow, Okla., and graduated from Plainview High School. He was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. He was a Mason, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 27 years. He married Christine Raper Dees in 1935 at Plainview. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Jeannett Julia of New Britain, Conn., and Juanita Patton of Shreveport, La.; a son, Richard B. Dees of Victorville, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Willis Clay Pruitt CANADIAN - Willis Clay Pruitt, 57, died Thursday, April 1, 1999. Arrangements are by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Pruitt was born in Wheeler and was a longtime resident of Borger until moving to Canadian four years ago. He was manager of the Canadian office of G.P. Guinn Co. He married Vickie Nutter in 1987. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Robert Pruitt and Donny Suit, both of Canadian, and Charles Johnston of Skellytown; three daughters, Christine Penaranda of Pampa, Patty Suit of Duncan, Okla., and Angela Hope of Lakewood, Calif.; four brothers, Sam Pruitt of Hereford, Jerry Pruitt of Plainview, Joe Pruitt of San Gabriel, Calif., and Jimmy Pruitt of Amarillo; two sisters, Wilma Asa of Oklahoma City and Joan Ward of Amarillo; and 10 grandchildren. The family will be at the McLaughlin home at 113 Brooks Drive in Fritch. Susie Marie Chase PAMPA - Susie Marie Chase, 96, died Sunday, April 4, 1999. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with the Revs. Albert Maggard, pastor of Pentecostal Holiness Church, and Scott Barton, pastor of Calvary Assembly of God Church, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Chase was born in Paris, Texas, and had been a resident of Pampa since 1940. She was a homemaker and an ordained minister of the Holiness Church. She had been a pastor around the Lefors area and was an interim pastor for many local churches. She married Robert Lee Chase Sr. in 1919 at Paris. He died in 1960. She was also preceded in death by six children, Barbara Ann Chase in 1943, Robert Lee Chase Jr. in 1973, Charles Wiley Chase in 1981, James L. "Buddy" Chase in 1982, Monti Louise Sharp in 1996 and Lajuanda Sue Smith in 1999. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ellen Preston of Pampa and Diane Chase of Denver; three sons, Erving Chase of Pampa, Gerald Joe Chase of Bakersfield, Calif., and Frank D. Chase of Comanche; 34 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; and 34 great-great-grandchildren. Letha Corcoran MOBEETIE - Letha Corcoran, 90, died Sunday, April, 4, 1999. Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Lewis Ellis, of Lefors, officiating. Burial will be in Mobeetie Cemetery by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler. Mrs. Corcoran was born in Perryville, Ark., was a homemaker, and sewed for the public for 30 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She married Charlie "Bill" Corcoran in 1930 at Sayre, Okla. He died in 1990. Survivors include a son, Tommy Corcoran of Pampa; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Mobeetie First Baptist Church. Jim S. Lopez WHITE DEER - Jim S. Lopez, 56, died Saturday, April 3, 1999. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery at White Deer. Mr. Lopez was born in White Deer and graduated from White Deer High School. He received a bachelor's degree in business from Texas Tech University in 1967 and was a project administrator of various projects throughout the world with Brown & Root Inc. For the past several years, he was a chemical consultant for Bircko Corp. in the food processing industry. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Amarillo, where he had been living for the past several years. He married Miros Fernandez in 1984 at Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Marc Lopez of Bryan and James Michael Lopez of Amarillo; two daughters, Gina Lopez of Phoenix and Julia Lopez of Amarillo; five brothers, Joe J. Lopez of Los Alamos, N.M., Efren Lopez of El Paso, Fidel Lopez of Dumas, Joe Raymond Lopez of Austin, and Johnny Lopez of Irving; three sisters, Dolorine Lopez of Chicago, Ill., Isabel Isch of Amarillo and Cecilia Bohannon of White Deer. Edith Ellerd MEMPHIS - Edith Ellerd, 93, died Sunday, April 4, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. O.K. Bowen officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Memphis Funeral Home. Mrs. Ellerd was born in Memphis, where she had lived for the past 50 years. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. She married Roscoe Ellerd in 1932 at Plaska. He died in 1980. Survivors include a son, L.W. Messer Jr. of Harahan, La.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and six greatgreat-grandchildren. The family suggests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be to First Baptist Church in Memphis, or to the Memphis Convalescent Center, or to Hall County Hospital.
