Mrs. Gilbert was born in Grayson County and received her teacher's certificate from West Texas Normal College. She taught school for two years in Sherman and two years in Lockney. Russell James Payne LAKEVIEW - Russell James Payne, 90, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1998. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church of Memphis with the Rev. Neely Landrum officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Lakeview by Memphis Funeral Home. Mr. Payne was born in Nettleton, Miss., and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired farmer and former mayor of Lakeview. He was a superintendent of Sunday school and chairman of the board of the Methodist church. He moved to Abilene six months ago. Survivors include his wife, Berneice; three daughters, Lavon Bello of Paso Robles, Calif., Tommie Newton of Abilene and Judy Fulton of Perryton; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Lakeview Cemetery Association of Lakeview. JoAnn Marie Smith PAMPA - JoAnn Marie Smith, 63, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Warren County Memorial Park Cemetery in Monmouth, Ill. Mrs. Smith was born in Monmouth. She graduated from high school in 1953 and attended Monmouth College. She moved to Pampa in 1960. In 1980, Mrs. Smith was employed in the meat department at Furr's Supermarket. She was then the manager of the meat deli at Albertson's. She married James C. Smith in 1958 at Monmouth. Survivors include three sons, James Scott Smith and Derrick Joseph Smith, both of Pampa, and Barry Carlton Smith of Forgan, Okla.; her mother, Florence T. Sprout of Monmouth, Ill.; a sister, D. Box 2795, Pampa, TX 79066-2795. Bernice Goodlett PAMPA - Bernice Goodlett, 82, died Monday, Jan. 4, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Todd Dyess, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Goodlett was born in Coles County, Ill. In 1926, she moved to Borger and moved to Pampa in 1934. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was a charter member of the hospital auxiliary. She was a volunteer until 1994. She married Sam Goodlett in 1938 at Pampa. He died in 1994. Survivors include a daughter, Pam Berry of Amarillo; a son, Smisson Goodlett of Amarillo; four sisters, Treva Chivers of Lake Wales, Fla., Nina Cox and Chic Littrell, both of Amarillo, and Patty Peyton of Gentry, Ark.; a brother, Richard Ingram of Richardson; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First United Methodist Church or a favorite charity. Dorothy Jean Redman DALHART - Dorothy Jean Redman, 76, died Monday, Jan. 4, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in First Christian Church with Ray M. Guy, senior minister of First Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Hass Funeral Home. Mrs. Redman was born in Texhoma and moved to Dalhart in 1925 where she attended schools. She was employed for two years as a telephone operator and eight as a clerk at Rock Island Freight Office. In 1983, she retired after more than 20 years with Red White Farm and Ranch Supply. She attended First Christian Church. She married Carroll Redman in 1945. He died in 1998. Survivors include a son, Bill Redman of Dalhart; a brother, Jack McClendon of Dalhart; a sister, Coy Whitby of Dalhart; two granddaughters; and five great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to First Christian Church. Elmer Richard Watson PLAINVIEW - Elmer Richard Watson, 78, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999. Mr. Watson was born in South Plains and grew up in Plainview where he attended schools. He was a veteran of World War II. C.E. Coleman Jr. HEREFORD - C.E. Coleman Jr., 72, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Bulin officiating. Graveside services will be at noon in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home of Hereford. Mr. Coleman was born in Wellington. He served in the Navy during World War II in aviation ordnance. He moved to Hereford after his marriage. In 1993, Mr. Coleman retired after more than 35 years as owner of the Ink Spot Printing Shop. He was a member and deacon of Avenue Baptist Church. He married Maxine Hensley in 1948 at Amarillo. A native of Wellington, Mrs. Walton lived in Borger for 48 years. She was a customer service supervisor at PET for 34 years. She retired from Panhandle Bank and Trust and Borger Bank. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She married Marvin Walton in 1948 at Amarillo. Survivors include her husband; a son, Mark Walton of Lubbock; two daughters, Kim Moxom and Pam Carlock, both of Borger; two brothers, Kenneth Owens of Childress and Neil Owens of San Antonio; a sister, Beverly Anderson of Longview; and seven grandchildren. Mr. Smith was born in Mount Pleasant and was an Army veteran of World War II. In 1957, he moved to Borger from Pampa. He was machinist who owned his shop. Antonia Quintana Rodriguez BORGER - Antonia Quintana Rodriguez, 69, died Monday, Jan. 4, 1999. Services will be held in El Paso later this week. Local arrangements are by Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mrs. Rodriguez was born in Villa Escobedo, Chihuahua, Mexico. She moved to Borger from El Paso 10 years ago. Mr. Cates was born in Vernon and moved to Amarillo in 1965 from Crowell. He attended Crowell schools and was a supervisor for the anode-casting department at ASARCO Inc. She attended West Texas State College and graduated from Amarillo College with a nursing degree. She worked at St. Anthony's Hospital from 1976 to 1980 and at Family Hospital from 1980 to 1992. She was a member of First Christian Church and Friendship Sunday School Class. She married Ralph Thomas Brady in 1945 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1965. She married John "Bud" Dorley in 1979 in Amarillo. He died in 1987. Survivors include four daughters, Jan Hinds, Camille Cargill, Denise Cherry and Susan Reeve, all of Amarillo; a son, Tony Brady of Corpus Christi; her father, George Simpson of Lubbock; two sisters, Gwen Riley of Abernathy and Shirley Rendleman of Lubbock; 13 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce St. Mr. Sexton was born and raised in Amarillo where he graduated from Amarillo High School in 1940. He was employed by Reddings Live and Let Live Grocery Market. In 1942, Mr. Sexton enlisted in the Army where he served as cannoneer with the 469th Anti-aircraft Artillery Battalion in New Guinea, Dutch New Guinea, Mindoro, Mindano, Leyte and Luyon. He was a crewman on a 40 mm gun. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Pauline. Survivors include a nephew, Vester Lee Sexton Jr., of Oregon; and a brotherin-law, Agris Freeman of Amarillo. Raymond E. Hardy Raymond E. Hardy, 85, died Sunday, Jan. 3, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Memorial Park Funeral Home, Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Haun Kite of North Amarillo Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Hardy was born in Ashtabula, Ohio, and spent most of his life in Amarillo. After 27 years, he retired from General Mills. He was a member of North Amarillo Church of Christ. He moved to Amarillo in 1954 from Childress where he was a longtime resident. He was a member of Bell Avenue Baptist Church. In 1979, Mr. Reasoner retired from Burlington Northern Railroad. He was a member of Childress Masonic Lodge and Burlington Northern Railroad Retirement Club. He married Oleta Campbell in 1940 at Fort Worth. Survivors include his wife; a son, Larry D. Reasoner of Plano; two daughters, Sue Littlefield and Kathy Baldwin, both of Amarillo; a brother, J.W. Reasoner of Cambria, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Interstate 40. Mrs. Arbeiter was born and raised in Amarillo where she graduated from Amarillo High School in 1967. She received her bachelor's degree in 1970 from Oklahoma Christian University and her master's degree from West Texas State University. For three years, Mrs. Arbeiter taught in Paducah and then taught at Caprock High School for 26 years. She was the science department chairman and sponsor of the National Honor Society. Mrs. Arbeiter was a member of Central Church of Christ where she taught Bible class for many years. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Amarillo Education Association, Texas State Teachers Association and National Education Association. She married Marvin Arbeiter in 1978 at Amarillo. Survivors include her husband; a son, Chase Arbeiter of Amarillo; her father, Robert Noah of Amarillo; two brothers, Rob Noah of Oklahoma City and John Noah of Searcy, Ark.; and two sisters, Nicki Suttle of Wichita Falls and Jan Nichols of Euless. New Mexico Delbert Lemons CLOVIS, N.M. - Delbert Lemons, 78, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Herbert Bergstrom officiating. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories. Mr. Lemons was born in Ringling, Okla. He graduated from Waurika High School. He retired after 40 years from Santa Fe Railway as an engineer. He was a decorated veteran of World War II. He was a member of Central Baptist Church, was a Mason, an Elk, and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He married Betty Giesler in 1945. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Michael Lemons, Patrick Lemons and Douglas Lemons; a sister, Kennie Roberts; and eight grandchildren. The body will not be available for viewing during service. James Loren Allen TUCUMCARI, N.M. - James Loren "Uncle Loren" Allen, 92, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Dunn Funeral Home Chapel with Wes Stewart, pastor of Temple Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the James Canyon Cemetery on Highway 82 about 10 miles west of Mayhill. Mr. Allen was born in McGee Township of Adams County, Ill. When he was 4 years old, he moved to the Portales area with his family. He graduated from Portales High School in 1927 and attended Montezuma College near Las Vegas. He married Sarah Mahill in 1937 at Clovis. They moved to California in 1942 where he worked for the Douglas Aircraft Co. He served in the Navy from 1943 to 1945. After his discharge, he began working as an appraiser for the Los Angeles County Assessor, becoming a senior appraiser. He graduated from the University of Southern California. They lived in the Beverly Hills, Burbank and Sunland areas until he retired in 1972 and moved to Burney, Calif. In 1982, they returned to Mayhill. In 1991, they moved to Alamogordo and to Tucumcari in 1993. His wife preceded him in death. Survivors include a brother, Elvert Allen of Kalamazoo, Mich. Oklahoma June George Herd Zitterkob WEATHERFORD, Okla. - June George Herd Zitterkob, 78, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in The Chapel of Lockstone Funeral Home at Weatherford with Aubrey Cowan officiating. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Wheeler Cemetery at Wheeler, Texas. Mrs. Zitterkob was born in Charleston, Texas, and raised in Magic City, Texas. She graduated from Wheeler High School at Wheeler and attended Plainview Baptist College at Plainview, Texas. She worked for Cabot Oil Co. as a paralegal and office manager and lived in Skellytown, Texas. She retired in 1977. She married J.D. Herd in 1942. He preceded her in death. She married Conrad Zitterkob in 1979. They lived in Weatherford. He also preceded her in death. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and attended church at Skellytown. She also was preceded in death by a son, David Herd. Survivors include sons, Michael, Phillip, Kalvin, Alvin, Rodney and Henry Zitterkob; four daughters, Jeraldine, Yvonne, Zorina and Lanita; three brothers, Noel George of Olustee, Duane George of Perryton, Texas, and Marion Fry of Ada; a sister, Bonnie Bidwell of McLean, Texas; and 13 grandchildren.
