Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Lemons Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Don Robertson, pastor of College Heights Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Kress Cemetery. Mrs. Morrison was born in Dimmitt and attended school there. She married Tom Morrison in 1951 at Clovis, N.M. She lived in Dimmitt until 1964, when she moved to Mangum, Okla. She moved to Kress in 1984. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Mangum. Survivors include her husband; a son, Tommy Morrison of Kress; two brothers, Homer Ragland of Lockney and Jack Ragland of Odessa; two sisters, Melba Austin of Plainview and Billie Schacher of Lockney; five grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be to Kress Cemetery. Harold R. Simpson PERRYTON - Harold R. Simpson, 90, died Saturday, July 3, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Christian Church with the Rev. Jeff Knighton officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Simpson was born in rural Beaver County, Okla. and was a lifelong area resident. He attended Southflat School, north of Booker. From 1936 until his retirement in 1975, he operated Simpson Petroleum. In Perryton, he attended Foursquare Gospel Church. He was preceded in death by a son, Glen, and a daughter, Shirley. He married Hazel Fronk in 1934 at Beaver County. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Don Simpson of Perryton and Byron Simpson of San Antonio; a daughter, Nancy Gayer of Minneapolis; two brothers, Byron Simpson of Mobeetie and Ezra Simpson of Beaver; six sisters, Thelma Fronk, Euna Benson, Onita Hoover, Naomi Harper and Elsie Trosper, all of Booker and Gertrude Getz of Onalaska; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Twin Oaks Manor in Booker. Sinforoso Flores DIMMITT - Sinforoso Flores, 94, died Saturday, July 3, 1999. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fern Couture officiating. Burial will be in Castro Memorial Gardens by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home. Mr. Flores was born in San Jose Corguila, Mexico, and moved to Dimmitt from Crystal City. He was a farm worker in south Texas and a member of Immaculate Conception Church. His daughter, Lydia Saucedo, died in 1998. He married Simona Sanchez in 1959 at Eagle Pass. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Ramona Saucedo and Consuelo Rodriguez, both of Seminole; a sister, Elvira Valles of San Antonio; 15 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; and 50 greatgreat-grandchildren. Leon Kendall PLAINVIEW - Leon Kendall, 52, died Sunday, July 4, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Drew Travis, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Kendall was born in Amherst and grew up in Olton, where he graduated from Olton High School. In 1969, he received a bachelor of science in math from Texas Tech University and in 1980, a master's from West Texas State University. He was a teacher and coach in Hart and Kress and worked for Plainview Independent School District for 24 years. In 1975, he began teaching math at Plainview High School and served as dean, counselor and registrar. He retired in 1999. He served on the board of Hale County Crisis Center and was a life member of the PTA. He also worked for Hale County Teachers Credit Union, was a member of Llano Estacado Bridge Unit No. 197, Plainview Duplicate Bridge Club, First Presbyterian Church and was Clerk of the Session. He married Pamela Hair in 1966 at Olton. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Amanda Carol Steen and Elizabeth Allison Kendall, both of Plainview; his mother, Dorothy Stoerner of Plainview; a sister, Connie Lucas of Austin; a stepsister, Cynthia Stoerner of Providence; two stepbrothers, Martin Stoerner of Providence and Stanley Stoerner of Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be to First Presbyterian Church. Melvin Lynn Allen PLAINVIEW - Melvin Lynn Allen, 60, died Friday, July 2, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Bartley-Silva Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Roger Foote, pastor of Northside Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery. Mr. Allen was born in Aspermont and was a carpenter and bricklayer for R.A. Vernon Construction. From 1957-59, he served with the Army and was in the Army reserves from 1959 until 1964. His son, Darrell Randell, died in 1973. He married Carlene Barley in 1967 at Portales, N.M. Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Elizabeth Allen and Sandra Allen, both of Lubbock, Cathy Allen of Germany and Theresa Allen of Floydada; seven sons, Glen Randell of San Angelo, Ernie Randell of Abilene, Danny Allen and Randy Allen, both of Plainview, Ricky Allen and Ronald Allen, both of Lubbock and Tommy Allen of Brownfield; seven sisters, Loraine Morgan and Nell Shugart, both of Hugo, Okla., Martha Martin of Middleton, Idaho, Jenette Baker of Muldrow, Okla., Ruth Rushing and Bonnie Voyles, both of Plainview and Cathy Sellers of Henderson; four brothers, Lee Clyde Allen of Plainview, Dee Allen and Steve Allen, both of Hugo and Ricky Allen of Wichita Falls; 30 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the American Cancer Society. J.W. Reed PERRYTON - J.W. Reed, 74, died Saturday, July 3, 1999. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Ochiltree County Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Myers officiating. Arrangements are by Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker. Mr. Reed was born in Levelland and lived in Yuma, Ariz., where he had a mechanic shop. In 1966, he moved to Liberal, Kan., and in 1968 to Perryton, where he worked in the oil field and owned a mechanic shop. He was a member of Cornerstone Church of God in Perryton. He married Edythe Shelton in 1944 at Ralls. His second wife was Barbara Creekmore at Yuma. His wife, Bessie May Marrow, died. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Connie Marie Reed. Survivors include three sons, Roger Wayne Reed of Artesia, N.M., Michael Jay Reed of Wasilla, Alaska, and James Wesley Reed of Larned, Kan.; two daughters, Rilla Kathryn Bolen Johnson of Artesia, N.M. and Roxanna Marie Hair of Springtown; four sisters, Lillian Powell and Christen Jackson, both of Borger, Frances Foster of Kress and Fannie Ashley of Plainview; a brother, Warren Reed of Borger; 20 grandchildren; and 28 greatgrandchildren. Amarillo Bobbie Payne Bobbie Payne, 87, of Amarillo, died Saturday, July 3, 1999. Mrs. Payne was born in Tupelo, Miss. In 1948, she moved to Amarillo, where she was a beautician for 40 years. She was the owner/operator of Nathan and Bobbie's Beauty Center, Westhaven Beauty Center and had a beauty shop at her home. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a charter member of Paramount Baptist Church. She married Nathan Payne in 1937 at Childress. He died in 1988. She is survived by two sisters, Jessie Gardenhire of Memphis and Billie Greer of Salinas, Calif. She was a waitress and a member of Southeast Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Denise Whittington and Charlotte Medart, both of Amarillo, and Melissa Browning of Albuquerque, N.M.; three sons, Robert Jones and Gary Jones, both of Amarillo, and James Hill of Centreville, Mich.; a brother, Willie Buck Rodgers of Amarillo; five sisters, Mary Kennedy of Wheeler, Mildred Miller of Bay Point, Calif., Esther Simpson of Twin Falls, Idaho, Kaye Moore of Aztec, N.M. and Lois Downey of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church in Hart with the Rev. Gerald Aalbers, former pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Hart Cemetery by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Mr. Farris was raised in Nazareth, where he attended school and was active in football, basketball and drama. He was a member of Hart First Baptist Church and a student at Randall High School in Amarillo. He had completed his sophomore year. Survivors include his father, Ricky Farris of Dimmitt; his mother, Suzanne Farris of Amarillo; two brothers, Adrian Farris and Alston Farris, both of Amarillo; a sister, Stephanie Schilling of Dumas; and grandparents, Loyd Farris of Hart and Willis and Rosalie Hawkins of Hereford. Oklahoma Edward Ernest Fischer GUYMON, Okla. - Edward Ernest Fischer, 72, died Friday, July 2, 1999. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mark Wescoatt officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home. Mr. Fischer was raised on his family's farm outside of Optima. He was a farmer and rancher and lifelong resident of Optima. He married Pauline Dahl in 1950. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Teresa Bradley of Guthrie, Wathina Luthi of Sharon and Dianna Jenkins of Ocean Shores, Wash.; a son, Clyde Fischer of Optima; two sisters, Erna Remling of Guymon and Meta Dunbar of Enid; and nine grandchildren. Arrangements are by SchoolerGordon Funeral Directors, 5400 Bell St., in Amarillo. Mr. Rogers was born in Bailey. He had served in the Army Air Corps and the Air Force. He was a Baptist. Survivors include a brother, Ernest Rogers of Carlsbad, N.M. The family requests memorials be to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch. Charles F. Sharp LUBBOCK - Charles F. Sharp, 68, died Sunday, July 4, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church in Tulia with the Revs. Charles Davenport and Charles F. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia by Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock. Mr. Sharp was born in Tulia, graduated from Tulia High School and Texas Tech University. He was a longtime farmer in both Swisher and Castro Counties and was a banker. He was associated with First National Bank of Tulia for 17 years and was president of Farmers State Bank of Hart until his retirement. He served with the Navy during the Korean War and was a Baptist. He married Mary Dell McCloud in 1951. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Marsha Sharp of Lubbock and Pam Martin of Slaton; a son, C. David Sharp of Lubbock; his mother, Mildred Sharp; a sister, Rosemary Pierce; a brother, Ricky Sharp of Lubbock; and four grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home in Lubbock. Viewing will be from 10 a.m. until noon Tuesday at First Baptist Church parlor in Tulia.
