Mr. Higgins was born in Hereford. He was a veteran of the Air Force. He had been a chef and attended First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his parents, Ted and Juanita Higgins of Hereford; and two brothers, Daniel Higgins of Hereford and Micheal Higgins of Amarillo. Taylor, 80, of North Little Rock, Ark., died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999 in Hereford. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in North Little Rock First Assembly of God with the Rev. Alton Garrison, the Rev. Dennis Pigman and the Rev. Paul Holderfield officiating. Local arrangements are by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home in Hereford. Arkansas arrangements are by Roller-Owens Funeral Home in North Little Rock. A longtime North Little Rock resident, Mr. Taylor was retired from Mobile Oil Co., and Brant Brothers Car Wash and Equipment Co. He worked with young people through Boy Scouts and Sunday School. Mr. Taylor was involved with the Union Rescue Mission. He also helped lead the Fish and Fowl Dinner for 12 years which benefited the Friendly Chapel Soup Kitchen. He was a Gideon. Survivors include his wife, Sally Brant Taylor; two sons, Edward Taylor of Tulsa and the Rev. Ted Taylor of Hereford; a daughter, Dr. Connie Sjorberg of Kansas City, Kan.; a brother, Tom Taylor of Dallas; a sister, Catherine Bryant of Springdale, Ark.; and four grandsons. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Minton / Chatwell Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Gillmore, pastor of Riverview Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Field of Honor in Westlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Temple was born in Monroe County, Ky. After 33 years, he retired from the Army. He had served during World War II, Korean War and Vietnam. For six years, Mr. Temple ran the City Cab of Borger. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist of Fountain Run, Ky., and a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He married Louise Eaton in 1940 at Fountain Run. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Taylor, in 1965. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bob Temple and William Temple, both of Borger; two daughters, Pat Murry and Carolyn Ferrell, both of Borger; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Nov. 5, 1999 Barbara Elizabeth Medlin VEGA - Barbara Elizabeth "Bobbie" Medlin, 81, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999. Services will be at 4 p.m. today in First Baptist Church of Vega with the Rev. James Peach, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Palo Duro Cemetery by Vega Funeral Home. Mrs. Medlin was born in Hubbard and had lived in Deaf Smith County from 1941 until moving to Vega in 1972. From 1972 until 1982, she owned a convenience store and trailer park. She was a member of Vega Senior Citizens and First Baptist Church of Vega. She married George Truett Medlin in 1936. He died in 1973. Survivors include three sons, David Medlin and Jon Medlin, both of Vega, and Tommy Medlin of Amarillo; a sister, Ruth Odom of Hubbard; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family will receive visitors from 2 until 4 p.m. today at the church. They suggest memorials be to Vega Senior Citizens. Mrs. Ackerson was born in Seneca, Mo., and had lived in Childress for the past six years. She taught school at Borger High School, Frank Phillips Jr. College and Madison High in Houston. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Everett, in 1970 and by her second husband, Jay Ackerson, in 1991. Survivors include a son, Phil Everett of Temple; a daughter, Nancy Garrison of Tell; a sister, Helen Schultze of Fairland, Okla.; and seven grandchildren. Mr. Duvall was born in Midlothian where he attended school. In 1954, he moved to Lockney from Arlington. He was a retired farmer and veteran of the Navy. Mr. Duvall was a former member of Plainview Pony Express and former member and past president of Hale County Sheriff's Posse. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Lockney and Lockney Senior Citizens. He married Verna Evelyn Briggs in 1934 at Midlothian. She died in 1998. Survivors include two sons, Cecil Duvall of Grapevine and Don Duvall of Davis, Okla.; a daughter, Mary Kay Cummings of Hale Center; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and five greatgreat-grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. today in St. John Baptist Church in Amarillo with the Rev. David Hill Sr., pastor of New Hope Baptist Church, and the Rev. Grover Neal, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo by WarfordWalker Mortuary Inc., 509 N. Hughes St., Amarillo. Mrs. Mouton was born in Gilmer and attended Mount Enterprise schools. After graduating from high school and Sweatts Beauty College, she attended Texas College at Tyler. She moved to Amarillo in 1948 and operated Crows Beauty Salon. She later moved to Lafayette, where she was a member of the Progressive Baptist Church. At the church, Mrs. Mouton was an instructor of the Dorcas Mission Circle, a member of the Circle of Wisdom, and was an assistant superintendent of Sunday schools. She was a trainer/instructor of the Sixth and Seventh District Associations. A Baptist Training Instructor of Youth, won the Mrs. Progressive Baptist Church Senior Citizen Award. She was a former Senior Choir and Youth leader and director of the usher department. Survivors include her husband, Anthony; a son, Rickey O. Crow of Lubbock; two stepsons, James Mouton of Lafayette and Ray Mouton of Las Vegas; two brothers, Rev. Elgie Crow of Amarillo and Forris Crow of Lancaster, Calif.; two sisters, Birdie English of Inglewood, Calif., and Cecile Crow of Amarillo; and six grandchildren. He was a former manager of Radcliff Supply and a retired salesman for V.S. Industrial Supply. He was a Baptist. He married Virginia McCorcle in 1959. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Vicki Walker of Amarillo; two sons, John Pollard and Bobby Grant, both of Amarillo; a brother, Jerry Pollard of Amarillo; three sisters, Dora Hogan, Pat Pollard and Linda Mann, all of Amarillo; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gene Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories. Mr. Porter was born in Cass County. He graduated in 1930 from Littlefield High School at Littlefield, Texas. He attended San Marcos Military Academy at San Marcos, Texas. He served in active duty in 1941 with the 200th Coast Artillery Battalion, New Mexico National Guard. He was sent to the Philippine Islands. He later served in the United States and Aleutian Islands. He was discharged in 1945. He was in the grocery business in the State Line Grocery at Farwell, Texas. He was later employed at Stansell's Grocery at Clovis. He was a member of the Baxter-Curren Senior Citizens Center. He married Earlene Key in 1931 at Clovis. She died in 1985. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Rojean, in 1939. Survivors include two brothers, John D. Porter and Ed Porter, both of Roswell. Amarillo Daily News, Nov. 5, 1999 Zelma L. Pagett CLAYTON, N.M. - Zelma L. Pagett, 92, died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Church of Christ with Paul Merideth officiating. Burial will be in the Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton. Mrs. Pagett was born in Elmwood, Okla., and moved to New Mexico with her family by covered wagon in 1913. She was a member of the Church of Christ. She married Leo Victor Pagett in 1924 at Clayton. He died in 1995. Survivors include a daughter, Wallene Banks of Colorado City, Texas; four sons, Leo Victor "Vic" Pagett Jr. of Raton, Jack W. Pagett of Clayton, M. Lavon Pagett of Lubbock, Texas, and Ronald Ray "Ronny" Pagett of Hereford; 24 grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Private family burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel by Rix Funeral Directors of Lubbock. Mr. Hale was born in Scurry County and graduated from Hermleigh High School. He earned his bachelor of science degree from McMurry University. A veteran of the Navy, he served on the USS Columbus in China, Japan and the Pacific Ocean. In 1977, Mr. Hale founded Pedro's Tamales in Lubbock. He was a member of numerous civic organizations and LakeRidge United Methodist Church. He married Sue Hughes in 1991 at San Angelo. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael and Mark, both of Lubbock; three daughters, Sandra Markum of Temple, Lisa Bateman of Tennessee and Belinda Birnbaum of Oklahoma; a stepson, Tommy Graves of Dallas; a stepdaughter, Sue Zann Shahan of Kansas; two brothers, Don Hale of San Angelo and Leon Hale of the Commonwealth of Dominica, West Indies; and 19 grandchildren.
