Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Long was born in Cook County and had lived in Amarillo since 1928. She graduated from Hedley High School at Hedley in 1929 as valedictorian of her class. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie T. Long, in 1984; and a daughter, June Southern in 1989. Survivors include a daughter, Joy Miller of Hereford; a sister, Glenna Bremer of Amarillo; and five grandchildren. Jesse Stipe Jesse Stipe, 70, of Amarillo, died Monday, July 5, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in First United Methodist Church in Stratford with Jerry Davey, pastor of Pleasant Valley Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Llano Cemetery by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage. Mr. Stipe was born in Hartley County. He was employed by Dean Cluck Feed Yard in Gruver for 20 years then was divisional maintenance supervisor for Farr Better Foods in Guymon, Okla. He moved to Amarillo in January. Mr. Stipe joined Alcoholics Anonymous in 1975 and was an active member. He was the first director for the Panhandle Treatment Center in Guymon which opened in 1977. In 1984, Mr. Stipe married Beth Traver and they moved to Guymon. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Ewer, in 1983. They had married in 1951. Survivors include his wife; four sons, Gary Stipe of Portland, Ore., Jerry Mangum of Tulsa and Ray Stipe and Marty Stipe, both of Sunray; two daughters, Renee Bower of Guymon and Virginia Williams of Amarillo; three brothers; two sisters; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Josephine Collins Josephine "Josie" Collins, 48, of Amarillo, died Saturday, July 3, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. James M. Mims, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery East by Golden Gate Mortuary, 1416 N. Hughes St. Mrs. Collins was born in Wharton. She graduated from Pecos High School in Pecos and attended Odessa Junior College. In 1973, she moved to Amarillo where she was employed as a nurses aid and was a member of New Covenant Missionary Baptist Church. She married Billy C. Collins Jr. in 1998 at Amarillo. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Tosha Foster and Pamela Foster, both of Amarillo; two sons, Steven Foster and Robert Foster Jr., both of Amarillo; a sister, Gloria Ohounu of Amarillo; two brothers, Jodie Simmons Jr., and Jimmy Simmons, both of Amarillo. Patricia Walerczyk-Booker Patricia Walerczyk-Booker, 64, of Amarillo, died Monday, July 5, 1999. Cremation was by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mrs. Walerczyk-Booker was born in Calumet City, Ill. She lived in Wahoo, Neb., for seven years and moved to Amarillo six months ago. She was employed as a tax preparer for the railroad and was of the Catholic faith. Survivors include two sons, Frank Walerczyk of Amarillo and Irving Walerczyk of Vancouver, Wash.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Kenneth Harold Hunt Kenneth Harold Hunt, 71, of Amarillo, died Monday, July 5, 1999. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Llano Cemetery with Ben Mereness, minister of Southwest Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2820 Virginia Circle. Mr. Hunt was born in Goldston and moved to Amarillo in 1969. He was a bookkeeper for Wheeler-Evans Grain Elevators in Groom and then farmed and ranched in Claude. He was then branch manager of Mountain States Investment Corp. He married Earlene Myers in 1948 at Groom. She died in 1984. Survivors include a son, Herb Hunt of Amarillo; a daughter, Patricia Franklin of Amarillo; his mother, Nola Hunt of Amarillo; four grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. Mr. Smith was born in Quanah and was a longtime resident of Amarillo. During World War II, he was a sergeant in the Army. He was a landscaper. Canyon Nancy Root Stewart Nancy Root Stewart, 61, of Claude and a former resident of Canyon, died Monday, July 5, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church in Claude with Dr. Gerald Aalbers, pastor, and the Rev. Paul Land, pastor of First Christian Church of Canyon, officiating. Graveside services follow at 5 p.m. in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon. Mrs. Stewart was born and raised in Canyon where she worked as a legal secretary until her retirement. She was a member of First Christian Church in Canyon. In 1990, she moved to Claude. In Armstrong County, Mrs. Stewart was member and president of the Unity Club, chairman of the library committee and member and vice-president of the Claudia Gems. She served on the board of directors of the Armstrong County Activities Building Committee and as member volunteer on the coordinating committee for the Armstrong County Museum. She was a member of the First Baptist Church choir. She married Wallace Stewart in 1990. She was preceded in death by twin infant daughters. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Becky Boston and Amy Mosier, both of Plano, and Emily Wieck of Hartley; two stepdaughters, Vivian Stewart of Dallas and Kathy Harding of Amarillo; her mother, Theresa Root of Canyon; a sister, Ellen Richardson of Amarillo; two brothers, Harold Root and Norris Root, both of Canyon; and four grandchildren. Oklahoma Chance Waide TURPIN, Okla. - Chance Waide, 11, died Sunday, July 4, 1999. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the Turpin Baptist Church with Christopher Dysinger, pastor, officiating. Place of burial has not been decided. Arrangements are by Miller Mortuary of Liberal, Kan. Chance was born in Guymon and moved to Turpin in 1998 from Adams. He had been a fourth-grade student at Turpin Grade School. Survivors include his parents, Phillip and Vernon Waide; a brother, Ethan Waide of the home; a sister, Elisha Waide, of the home; grandparents, Billy Waide of Satanta, Kan., and Glendon and Elrain Wear of Spearman, Texas; and great-grandparents, Ellie Wear of Spearman and Grady and Edna Harding of Stephenville, Texas. Friends may call at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until noon Thursday. Gene Wall Richardson BOISE CITY, Okla. - Gene Wall Richardson, 75, died Monday, July 5, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in First Baptist Church of Boise City with Derek Cox and David George officiating. Burial will be in Boise City Cemetery by Cimarron Mortuary of Boise City. Mr. Richardson was born in Forgan and moved to Cimarron County when he was 5. He attended school in Felt until the family moved to Boise City. At the end of his junior year, he enlisted with the Army to serve in World War II. While in the service, Mr. Richardson was crew chief and aerial engineer and attained the rank of sergeant. After his discharge, Mr. Richardson returned to Boise City where he was employed for companies including Reeding and Bates and Noble Drilling Co. He also owned and operated the Cozy Cafe, was in the dry cleaning business and was a truck driver. He married Reta Fisher in 1947 at Clayton, N.M. She died in 1997. Survivors include his children, Sandy Wells and Pam Thrall, both of Boise City, Mike Richardson of Guymon, Rod Richardson of Gardnerville, Nev., and Deb Crabtree; and 16 grandchildren. Area James Vernon Barker Sr. McLEAN - James Vernon Barker Sr., 73, died Tuesday, July 6, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. James Martindale, pastor, and Norman Jones, of Primitive Baptist Church at Elk City, Okla., officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery at McLean by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Barker was born in Sayre, Okla., and had been a resident of McLean most of his life. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was an oil field operator for Barker Drilling Co. in Shamrock. He was a member of the McLean First Baptist Church. He married Patsy "Pat" Egleson in 1947 in Amarillo. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jim Barker of Amarillo; a daughter, Janice Bible of Savannah, Ga.; and four grandchildren. Mr. Sullivan was born in Oil City, La. He was a member of Olton Veterans of Foreign Wars and Olton Lions Club. He was a past member of Olton City Council. He married Anita Moses in 1954 at Olton. Survivors include his wife; a son, Bryan Sullivan; two brothers, Roy Sullivan of Bloomburg and Sid Sullivan of Linden; two sisters, Estelle Hughes of Longview and Betty Woods of Rodessa, La.; and two grandsons. Merrick Gibson PADUCAH - Merrick Gibson, 87, died Monday, July 5, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. James Hooper officiating. Burial will be in Paducah Garden of Memories by Seigler Funeral Home of Paducah. Mr. Gibson was born in Grow community of King County where he farmed and ranched until his death. He graduated from Paducah High School in 1928. During World War II, he served in the South Pacific with the Army. For eight years, Mr. Gibson was King County Commissioner and served on the King County school board for six years. He was a deacon with the First Baptist Church. He married Darene Barnes in 1945 at Grow. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Larry Rush of Guthrie, Steve Gibson of Houston and Craig Gibson of Fairfax, Va.; two brothers, Kenneth Gibson of Amarillo and J.J. Gibson of Paducah; a sister, Alma Long of Paducah; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Clarene Spence PERRYTON - Clarene Spence, 77, died Monday, July 5, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Church of Christ. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Duncan Cemetery in Goodsprings by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Perryton. Mrs. Spence was born in Strawn and moved to Perryton from Henderson in 1961. She was a bookkeeper at the First National Bank of Perryton and a member of the Church of Christ in Perryton. She married Ellis Spence in 1942 at Overton. He died in 1960. Survivors include three sons, Wayne Spence of Denton, Larry Spence of Perryton and Daryl Spence of Greely, Colo.; two brothers, Ralph Trowbridge of Hobart, Ind., and Elbert Trowbridge of Overton; a sister, Eva Mae Howard of Douglas; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. The family suggests memorials be to Church of Christ of Perryton. Phyllis Patton FARWELL - Phyllis Patton, 75, died Monday, July 5, 1999. Mrs. Patton was born in Monticello, Wis. In 1980, she moved to Farwell from Harrison, Ark. She was a homemaker and attended First Baptist Church of Farwell. She married Carl Abel Patton in 1942 at Clovis, N.M. He died in 1983. Survivors include two sons, John C. Patton of San Angelo and Paul Patton of Conway, Ark.; two brothers, Harold Block of Harrison, Ark., and Raymond Block of House, N.M.; three sisters, Hilda Sparks of Ima, N.M., Hazel Traughber of Portales, N.M., and Sally Whitesides of Farwell; and three grandchildren. Ewald Max Henry Quebe PLAINVIEW - Ewald Max Henry Quebe, 84, died Tuesday, July 6, 1999. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Trinity Lutheran Church in Providence community with Caryl Miller, pastor, and Mel Morton of Lubbock officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home of Plainview. Mr. Quebe was born in Lockney and farmed in Providence until his retirement in 1972. He moved to Plainview in 1981. He was a 84-year member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Providence. Mr. Quebe was a past master of Arch Keys Lodge No. 1397 and a member of other Masonic organizations. He was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star, member of Floydada Chapter No. 31 and past patron of Lockney Chapter No. 437. Mr. Quebe served on the council of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Floyd County School Board and was a former president of the Lockney Lions Club. He was a director of the Crippled Children's Camp at Kerrville and served on the board of the Lockney Hospital. He married Anna Dell Wharton in 1937 at Lockney. Survivors include his wife; a son, John Quebe of Lockney; and two grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Trinity Lutheran Church of Providence. Kansas Chester Arthur Klein LaCROSSE, Kan. - Chester Arthur Klein, 82, died Monday, July 5, 1999. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Memory Gardens Cemetery at Pampa, Texas, with the Rev. Barry A. Loving, associate pastor of First Christian Church of Pampa, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. Klein was born in Weatherford, Okla. He graduated from LaCrosse High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a meat cutter in several grocery stores and was the custodian of the First Christian Church of Pampa. He returned to LaCrosse from Pampa in 1990. He was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He married Odessa Elizabeth Rice in 1940 at LaCrosse. She died in 1972. He also was preceded in death by a son, Mike Klein. Survivors include a son, Dr. Ronald D. Klein of Brady, Texas; two daughters, Patricia Collins of LaCrosse, and Pam Rogers of Amarillo; two brothers, Albert Klein of Hoisington, and Duane Klein of Hays; seven grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren. Tillman, David Wayne Tillman and Branton Cole Tillman LYNDON, Kan. - Myrtle J. "Janie" Tillman, 48, David Wayne Tillman, 26, and Branton Cole Tillman, 17, died Saturday, July 3, 1999 near Dalhart. Joint services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Lyndon High School Gymnasium. Arrangements are by Dunn Funeral Home of Tucumcari, N.M., and Feltner Funeral Home of Lyndon. Mrs. Tillman was born in Tucumcari. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Courtney Mae Tillman, in 1979. Survivors include her husband, Ed Tillman of Lyndon; a son, Travis Tillman of Lyndon; a foster daughter, Becky Chase of Lawrence; her mother, Edith Stone of Danville, Ark.; two brothers, Scott Stone of Las Vegas and Lee Stone of San Jon, N.M.; a sister, Carolyn Gilbert of Danville; and two grandchildren. David Wayne Tillman was born in Topeka and lived in Michigan Valley. He graduated from Lyndon High School. He is survived by his father, Ed Tillman; a brother, Travis Tillman of the home; his grandmothers, Edith Stone of Danville and Noma Tillman of Tucumcari; and a foster sister, Becky Chase of Lawrence. Branton Cole Tillman was born in Topeka and lived in Lyndon. He was to be a senior at Lyndon High school. He is survived by his father, Ed Tillman; a brother, Travis Tillman of the home; his grandmothers, Edith Stone of Danville and Noma Tillman of Tucumcari; and a foster sister, Becky Chase of Lawrence. Burial will be in Waxahachie City Cemetery. Mrs. Bales was born in Almena, Kan. She was a member of the Daughter's of the American Revolution of Moore County for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, W.D. Bales; and by a son, Richard Bales. Survivors include a daughter, Delores Rich of The Colony; a sister, Shirley White of Houston; friend, Mark Smith; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
