Osage St. Mrs. Moats was born in Violet Hill, Ark., and had lived in Amarillo most of her life. She was a homemaker. She married Bennie Allen Moats in 1969 at Ardmore, Okla. He died in January. Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda DeLeon of Amarillo; two stepdaughters, Rose Grady of Amarillo and Diane Collins of Dumas; a son, Freddie Hankins of Amarillo; two stepsons, Elton Moats of Springfield, Mo., and John Ross of Amarillo; a brother, Buddy Ballard of Amarillo; 20 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. The family will be at 804 S. Carolina St. Amarillo Daily News, Oct. 7, 1999 Ruby Hedger Turner Ruby Hedger Turner, 88, of Amarillo and formerly of Wellington, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Fairview Cemetery at Wellington with the Rev. James McLeod, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Wellington officiating. Arrangements are by Adams Funeral Home of Wellington. Mrs. Turner was born in Havana, Ark., and lived in Wellington before moving to Oregon. She had been an Amarillo resident for the past 50 years. She was a production operator for Tascosa Tortilla Co., for 30 years and was a Baptist. She married Ora Brown Turner in 1928 at Collinsworth County. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1956 and by a daughter, Roberta Wheeler, in 1978. Survivors include her daughter, Juanita Hudson of Amarillo; a sister, Lucille Rowell of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-greatgrandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Oct. 7, 1999 Virginia Nell Quigley Virginia Nell Quigley, 56, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999. Mrs. Quigley was born in Seminole and graduated from Friona High School. She was an artist who painted with Billie Davis. She was a member of the San Jacinto Baptist Church where she was a ninth grade Sunday School teacher for 25 years. In 1994, Mrs. Quigley retired from Scott's Flowers. She was a floral designer for 30 years. Survivors include her son, Dr. Jay Quigley of Waco; her daughter, Beverly Zearley of Amarillo; her mother, Janice Patton of Amarillo; a brother, Jim Patton of Carthage; and three grandchildren. Amarillo Daily News, Oct. 7, 1999 Oklahoma Orville Leroy Stanley GUYMON, Okla. - Orville Leroy Stanley, 89, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Grace Southern Baptist Church with the Rev. Aaron Summers officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Gate Cemetery at Gate, Okla., by BunchRoberts Funeral Home. Mr. Stanley was born in western Harper County on his grandparents' home place. He graduated from Gate High School at Gate in 1927. He farmed until retiring in 1971. He then moved to Guymon and worked as a cowboy at livestock auctions. Along with farming in Harper and Beaver counties, he raised horses. He was a longtime member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the Texas County Sheriff's Posse. He was preceded in death by his wives, Delma and Loureta, and a son, Harold Victor. Survivors include a son, Cecil Stanley of Gate; two daughters, Catharine Brooker of Fort Scott, Kan., and Lula King of Guymon; a brother, Charles Stanley of Medford, Ore.; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Miss Clark was born in Canadian then moved to Arnett with her family where she attended first grade. The family moved to Canute where she attended school at Burns Flat. Brooks, 86, of Wichita Falls, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Lance Morrisett of Childress Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Goodlett Cemetery in Goodlett. Mr. Brooks was born in Kirkland. He lived in Euless from 1960 until 1983 when he moved to Childress. He returned to Euless in 1991 and moved to Wichita Falls in May. Mr. Brooks was a salesman. He was a member of the Bedford Church of Christ. He married Lois Marie Webb in 1942 at Yuma, Ariz. She died in 1998. Survivors include two sons, John Perry Brooks of Wichita Falls and Jerry L. Brooks of Grand Prairie; a brother, J.L. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1986 then the Pharmacist School of Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 1992. He was a member of the Noon Lions Club, the 4-H club and Texas and American Pharmacist Association. He married Shanna Kaye Pinnell in 1996 at Plainview. Mrs. Sweigart was born in Texas County, Okla., and lived in the Perryton area since 1929. She was named the Homemaker of the Year and was a member of the Perryton Mennonite Church. She married Milton Sweigart in 1929 at Ochiltree County. He died in 1998. Survivors include two sons, Marvin Sweigart of Saginaw, Mich., and Earl Sweigart of Balko, Okla.; two daughters, Neta Faye Yoder of Wellman, Iowa, and Donna Moreland of Arthur, Ill.; three brothers, Samuel Kauffman of Enid, Okla., Edward Kauffman of Phoenix and John Kauffman of Guymon, Okla.; three sisters, Lulu Johnson of Perryton, Ruth Rhoades of Guymon and Mabel Rieth of Woodward, Okla.; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and one great-greatgrandchild. She married Lem Warden in 1934 at Clayton, N.M. He died in 1961. She also was preceded in death by a son, Harold Warden, in 1975 and by a daughter, Theresa Ruth Warden, in 1940. Dan Carter, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Morton Memorial Cemetery by Ellis Funeral Home of Morton. Mr. Crowder was born in Abilene and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. In 1952, he moved from Sweetwater to Morton. He was a farmer and member of the First United Methodist Church. He married Dorothy Baumgardner in 1934 at Abilene. He was preceded in death by a son, John Allen, and a daughter, Elizabeth. Survivors include his wife; and two brothers, Lewis and Bill Crowder, both of Abilene. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Terry County Cemetery at Brownfield. Mrs. Huffman was born in Springfield, Tenn. She was a member of the Senior Citizens of Plainview and a member of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Tulia. For several years, she worked at the MHMR in Plainview and Midland. She married Joe Huffman in 1989 at Midland. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Vance Wendell Smith, in 1982. Survivors include her husband; a son, Danny Smith of Midland; two daughters, Frances Abernathy of Porter and Kayla Buchan of Midland; three stepchildren, Valerie Shultz and Veronica Baca, both of Lubbock, and Ronnie Huffman of Umbarger; 18 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Bud Kidwell, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Crosbyton and the Rev. Bill Bowman, pastor of First Baptist Church in Tucumcari, N.M., officiating. Burial will be in Mills Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home of Plainview. Mr. Dennis was born in Junction City, Kan., and grew up in Mills where he graduated from high school. A farmer and rancher, he also worked at the Wilson Co. Mercantile. In the early 1940s, he opened the Dennis Grocery Store in Mills and was operator until it closed in 1959. Mr. Dennis was a member of the First Baptist Church of Roy. He married Peggy Douglas in 1944 at Springer, N.M. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jane Autry of Plainview; a son, Bobby Dennis of Anthony, N.M., four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. in Crestview Memorial Park in Wichita Falls. Mrs. McDonald was born in St. Jo where she graduated from high school. In 1945, she moved to Wichita Falls where she lived for 50 years. She moved to Plainview in 1994 then to Hale Center in 1997. Mrs. McDonald was employed for 25 years in the dietary department of Wichita Falls General Hospital. She was a member of Loop 11 Church of Christ in Wichita Falls. She married Charlie E. Before moving to Friona in 1991, he lived in Guymon, Okla., where he owned the Savaii Motel for 11 years. He retired as a farmer and was a member of the Friona United Methodist Church. He married Bertha Brandvik in 1933 at Guymon. He was preceded in death by a son, Haskell Shapley, in 1996. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Betty Lewellen of Friona; three sisters, Gladys Alexander of Albuquerque, N.M., and Bernice Garret and Mirtie Mussett, both of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, F.A Shapley of Tucson, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
