Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Central Church of Christ with Tom Bailey, minister, officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery by Gililland-Watson Funeral Home. Mrs. Hinds was born in Thalia and moved to Deaf Smith County from Parmer County in 1976. She was a homemaker and a member of Central Church of Christ. In 1934, she married Otey Hinds. He died in 1983. Survivors include a son, Wayland Hinds of Canyon; a daughter, Phyliss Blake of Corpus Christi; four sisters, Anna Jo Blackburn and Onita Allen, both of Friona, Esther McKillit of DeLeon and Minnie Mae Glasscock of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother, Clifton Coffman of Dardanelle, Ark.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Nannie Lorene Holmes DUMAS - Nannie Lorene Holmes, 86, died Saturday, March 6, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Sixth and Meredith Church of Christ with David Bonner, minister of Fourth and Groesbeck Church of Christ, Lufkin, officiating, and Bill Wright, minister of Church of Christ, El Paso, and Allen Kramer, minister of the Dumas church, assisting. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Holmes was born in Weston, had lived in Dumas for many years, and in El Paso for the past 24 years. She was a housewife. Her husband, A. Z. Holmes, died in 1977. She was also preceded in death by a son, Wyley Holmes, in 1966. Survivors include two sons, Jackie Holmes of El Paso and Alton Holmes of Chaparral, N.M.; a brother, J. D. Watson of Dumas; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Rosa Sanchez Rodriguez DIMMITT - Rosa Sanchez Rodriguez, 85, died Sunday, March 7, 1999. Rosary will be at 7 p.m. today and prayer vigil at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Ivey Chapel, Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Guillermo Morales officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery, Dimmitt, by the funeral home. Mrs. Rodriguez was born in Beaver and moved to Dimmitt from San Benito in 1953. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and was in the Cursillitas. In 1929, she married Julian Sanchez Rodriguez. He died in 1991. She was also preceded in death by a son, Julian S. Rodriguez Jr., in 1980 and by a daughter, Gloria Maruicio, in 1976. Survivors include six daughters, Eloisa Leal, Mary Lopez, Gregoria Ramirez, Fabiana Mendoza and Elida Zamora, all of Dimmitt, and Martina Lopez of Turkey; three sons, Ramon S. Rodriguez and Juan S. Rodriguez, both of Dimmitt, and Marcelino S. Rodriguez of Hereford; a sister, Florencia Rodriguez of Indiana; 57 grandchildren; 84 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Tomasa Diaz BOVINA - Tomasa Diaz, 86, died Sunday, March 7, 1999. Vigil services will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in St. Teresa Catholic Church in Friona. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the church with the Rev. Ed Sweeney officiating. Burial will be in Bovina Cemetery by Ellis-Blackwell Funeral Home, Friona. Mrs. Diaz was born in Mexico, lived in Parmer County since 1956, and moved to Bovina from Loraine in 1988. She was a housewife and a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church. In 1933, she married Seberiano Diaz. He died in 1995. She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Diaz, in 1998. Survivors include four sons, Luis Diaz of Sweetwater, Jesse Diaz, Tomas Diaz, and Johnny Diaz, all of Amarillo; six daughters, Hope Cardenas of McAllen, Lupe Garcia and Rosa Quiroga, both of Bovina, Carmen Ramirez of Dalhart, Frances Trevino of Dumas and Benita Trevino of Mesquite; two sisters, Antonia Godina of Colorado City and Pomposa Vasquez of Sweetwater; 36 grandchildren; 82 great-grandchildren; and two greatgreat-grandchildren. She was a seamstress and a member of First Baptist Church. Her husband, Emmitt Jackson Sr., died in 1957. Survivors include two sons, Emmitt Jackson Jr. of Amarillo and Gafford Jackson of Sun City West, Ariz.; a daughter, Madge Schnur of Black River Falls, Wis.; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Miss Nelson was born in Lander, Wyo., and had lived in Amarillo for the past four years. While attending Horace Mann Middle School, she had been a member of the Buffs Peer Mediation group. She was a freshman at Palo Duro High School and was a member of the Air Force JROTC program, and of the Apostolic Faith Church. Mrs. Smith was born in Merrillan, Wis., where she attended school. She lived in Ohio prior to her move to Amarillo in 1965. She worked for Children's Learning Centers and Kinder Care Learning Center in Amarillo. In 1949, she married Virgil Nelson Taylor. He died in 1963. She was also preceded in death by a son, Clare Lee Taylor, in 1988. Survivors include a daughter, Nadine L. Wise of Tyler; three sons, Keith Burlingame of Cameron, Wis., Virgil N. Taylor Jr., of Uniontown, Ohio, and Robert Taylor of Amarillo; a sister, Irene Shoemaker of Alma Center, Wis.; two brothers, Jerry Burlingame of Marshfield, Wis., and Lyle Burlingame of Lincoln, Ala.; 13 grandchildren; and seven greatgrandchildren. Mrs. Solem was born in Ada, Minn., and had lived in Amarillo for 30 years. She was a food processor for Consolidated Pet Foods. Maurice L. McCormick Maurice "Mack" L. McCormick, 82, of Amarillo, died Saturday, March 6, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 I-40 East, with the Rev. Dale Travis officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by the funeral home. Mr. McCormick was born in Queen City, Mo., where he graduated from high school before moving to Amarillo in 1956 from Wichita, Kan. He was a veteran of the Korean War, retired from the Air Force and was in maintenance for the General Services Administration. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rites Mason, a member of Tascosa Lodge No. 1375, and of the Family Life Fellowship Church. His wife, Gerry McCormick, died in 1995. Survivors include three sons, Dennis L. McCormick of Denver and Larry R. McCormick and David L. McCormick, both of Amarillo; a daughter, D. Michelle Bernson of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Family Life Fellowship Church. Jess Slaton Jess Slaton, 90, of Amarillo, died Friday, March 5, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce St., with Robert G. Slaton, Assembly of God Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by the funeral home. Mr. Slaton was born in Wheeler County and moved to Amarillo 11 years ago from Cleburne. He was a barber and served in the Coast Guard during World War II. Survivors include a brother, Eugene Slaton of Amarillo; and a sister, Clara Pearson of Burleson. The body will not be available for viewing. Elsewhere Lowell L. Ray HALE CENTER - Lowell L. Ray, 75, died Saturday, March 6, 1999. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by the funeral home. Mr. Ray was born in Jud and attended school in Odessa. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps and farmed in the Mayfield Community until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Church of Christ. In 1949, he married Jacqueline Pauline Geason. Survivors include his wife; daughter, Theresa Summerlin of Albuquerque, N.M.; four sons, John Ray and Lennie Ray, both of Hale Center, Dennis Ray of Gunter and Jimmy Ray of Little Elm; two brothers, Kenneth Ray of Hale Center and Gerald Ray of Claude; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. M.C. Watson LUBBOCK - M.C. "Cully" Watson, 89, died Saturday, March 6, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Pampa, with the Revs. Jim Teeter and Gene Allen officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa by RIX Funeral Directors. Mr. Watson was born in Shields and lived in Pampa for 39 years before moving to Lubbock four years ago. He was a retired farmer and master pipefitter. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Local Pipefitters and Plumbers Union No. 654, Abilene, and of St. Lukes United Methodist Church in Lubbock. In 1929, he married Mamie Pitcock. She preceded him in death. Survivors include a daughter, Maritta Mills Wheeler of Lubbock; a son, Harold Gene Watson of Pampa; three sisters, Susan Stafford of Edinburg, Vivian Vaughan of Alvarado and Margaret Waltrip of Alice; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Tuesday at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Home in Pampa. Muriel Stark LUBBOCK - Muriel Stark, 78, died Sunday, March 7, 1999. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Calvary Baptist Church with Chris Sutton officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. in Rose Hill Cemetery, Tulia, with Charles Davenport, pastor of First Baptist Church, Tulia, officiating. Arrangements are by Sanders Funeral Home. Mrs. Stark was born in Whitfield. She moved to Tulia in 1955 where she owned and operated Muriel's Drapery Shop until her retirement in 1983. She moved to Lubbock the same year. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Joy Sunday school class and was a volunteer worker for Exodus Prison Ministry. In 1941, she married Frank P. Stark. He died in 1975. Survivors include two daughters, Eva Cheryl Hardin of Lubbock and Rita Ann Estes of Amarillo; and one grandchild. The family suggests memorials be to Hospice of Lubbock. Kansas Catherine Tatum Weinaug LAWRENCE, Kan. - Catherine Tatum Weinaug, 77, died Friday, March 5, 1999. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Free Methodist Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by RumseyYost Funeral Home. Mrs. Weinaug was an author of Christian children's books and president of Adventures for Children. Titles included "The White Lamb Adventure", "Guppies, Galaxies, Gardens and God", and "Boats, Birds, Beasts and Believers." She was instrumental in the formation of Small World for international students and responsible through her writing for a film about Leo Beuerman, which received international recognition. She was a former organist for the Assembly of God Church and a member of the Texas Press Women's Association. In 1943, she married Charles F. Weinaug. He died in 1968. Survivors include two sons, G. Craig Weinaug of Douglas County and Carl Weinaug of Stillwater, Okla.; a sister, Mary Jo Birdwell of Dimmitt; and four grandchildren. New Mexico Naomi Holland CLAYTON, N.M. - Naomi Holland, 79, died Saturday, March 6, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. CST Tuesday in Brooks Funeral Directors Chapel, Happy, with grandsons Layne Holland and Cee Arnett officiating. Burial will be in Happy Cemetery by the funeral home. Mrs. Holland was born in Galesburg, Kan., graduated from St. Anthony's School of Nursing in 1940 and worked as a nurse in Amarillo and later in Clayton. She had been a resident of Clapham Community, N.M., since 1946 and was a member of Eastern Star and First Christian Church of Amarillo. In 1945, she married Hugh Holland Jr. Survivors include her husband, of Clapham Community; two daughters, Kay Arnett and Betty Dellinger, both of Clayton; son, H.L. Holland of Happy; sister, Dorothy Jonas of Whitney; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Oklahoma Roberta Summers BEAVER, Okla. - Roberta Summers, 77, died Wednesday, March 3, 1999. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Faith Community Chapel with Dennis Warden officiating. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery by Clark Funeral Service. Mrs. Summers was born in Knox City and graduated from high school in 1941. She was a homemaker and a member of Nazarene Church. She had been a resident of Beaver for 30 years. In 1949, she married Gene Summers. Survivors include her husband; and a brother, James Gordon Abbott of Odessa.
