Twitty George F. Twitty, 88, of Amarillo, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors Pioneer Chapel, 2615 Paramount Blvd., with Mark Cattau officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Twitty was born in London and moved to Chicago in 1925. During World War II, he belonged to the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was a quality control engineer at Western Electric before retiring in 1969. He moved to Roswell, N.M., in 1971 and to Amarillo in 1982. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, the Eagles, Trinity Lutheran Church, New Beginnings Seniors Retreat and the Roswell Rockhound at Roswell. He married Helen Clark in 1934 at Cicero, Ill. She died in 1992. Survivors include a daughter, Sally Twitty of Loves Park, Ill.; a son, Ronald G. Twitty of Amarillo; two brothers, William Twitty of Schaumburg, Ill., and Henry Twitty of Cicero; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Jacque Edwards Jacque Edwards, 80, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999. Fifth Ave. Mrs. Edwards was born in Grapeland and moved to Amarillo in 1941 from Clarendon. In 1984, she retired as a cook from the Amarillo Independent School District. She married Bill Edwards in 1942 at Memphis. He died in 1973. Survivors include two daughters, Cynda Elder and Wendy Williams, both of Amarillo; a son, Phillip Edwards of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family will be at 4826 Angelus. Iree Merrell Iree Merrell, 83, formerly of Amarillo, died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999. Georgia with Oklahoma arrangements by Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman. Mr. Wolf was born in Anadarko, Okla., and lived in Oklahoma City for many years. During World War II, he served in the Navy. In 1970, Mr. Wolf retired from National Life and Accident where he had been district manager in Shawnee since 1952. He had worked in the insurance business for many years. In Shawnee, Mr. Wolf was an active member of the Central Presbyterian Church and past president of the Shawnee Rose Society. He was a volunteer for the Emergency Food Pantry. From 1993 until moving to Amarillo in 1998, he lived in Norman. He married Alice Margaret Mullinax in 1932. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Margaret Martin of Amarillo, Pat Hodges of Norman and Freida Rogers of Munster; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was a self-employed carpenter and a Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Lula Reed Woodard; and five nieces and two nephews. Effie May Young Effie May Young, 92, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999. Young in 1928 at Bethany, Okla. Preceding her in death were her husband in 1994 and a son, Ralph Edward Young, in 1996. Survivors include two sons, Tom E. She had been a Realtor in Marion from 1975 until 1984. She moved to Tulia in 1996 from Marion and was a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit. She married Harold Sherick in 1958. Delfino Moreno SPEARMAN - Delfino Moreno, 60, died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999. Services were at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Christo Redentor Catholic Church at Gruver with the Rev. Scott Raef officiating. Burial was at Hansford Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home Inc. Mr. Moreno was born in Elsalto, Durango, Mexico, and moved to Spearman in 1985 from Deming, N.M. He worked for Caprock No. 2 feedlot and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He married Maria Elena in 1982 at Spearman. Mrs. Sherwood was born in Waxahachie and was a longtime resident of Childress. She had been a member of First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and the Women's Department Club. She was a homemaker. She married Fred Sherwood in 1929 at Waxahachie. Survivors include her husband. Jimmie Eakin BORGER - Jimmie Eakin, 78, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999. No services are planned. Cremation arrangements were handled by Brown Funeral Directors. Mrs. Eakin was born in Ford City and had been a Borger resident for 53 years. She was a Army veteran of World War II. She was a housewife and a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church. She married P.O. Eakin in 1944 at Abilene. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharan Eakin in 1991. Leola Dolores Bunch STRATFORD - Leola Dolores Bunch, 84, a former Lone Wolf, Okla., resident, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999, in Amarillo. Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Peoples Cooperative Funeral Home Chapel at Lone Wolf. Burial will be in the Lone Wolf Cemetery. Mrs. Bunch was born in Cooperton, Okla. She also had lived in Corpus Christi, Elgin, North Dakota and Dumas. She was a member of the First Methodist Church and of Scott Hall. She married Cecil W. Bunch in 1933 at Lone Wolf. He died in 1971. She also was preceded in death by a son, Donnie, in 1991. Survivors include four children, Carmen W. Bunch of Florence, Miss., Arneta Morris of Amarillo, Norman D. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Pond was born in Pawnee, Okla., and had lived in Miami most of her life. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a homemaker. She married George Johnson Wells in 1931 at Arnett, Okla. He died in 1980. She married Woody Pond in 1986. He died in 1996. Survivors include two sons, Tommy Wells of Dallas and Dewayne Wells of Kermit; a sister, Lucile Campbell of Pawnee, Okla.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Faye Cheyne Gallman PAMPA - Faye Cheyne Gallman, 91, formerly of Pampa, died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, in Lakewood, Colo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church in Pampa with the Rev. Todd Dyess, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Gallman was born in Crosbyton and graduated from West Texas State College with a teaching degree. She taught music at Baker Elementary School in Pampa for 29 years, retiring in 1972. While in Pampa, she was active in the music ministry and was a choir director for First Christian Church, St. Paul United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church, where she was a member. In 1990, she moved to Denver, where she was a member of First United Methodist Church. She married Flaudie Gallman in 1930. He died in 1990. Survivors include a daughter, Cornelia Haase of Denver; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. The family will be at 2300 Charles St., in Pampa. Velma Cleora Long Terrell DIMMITT - Velma Cleora Long Terrell, 86, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Fairmount Cemetery in Follett with Steven Wieduwilt, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Mason Funeral Home of Shattuck, Okla. Mrs. Terrell was born near Harmon, Okla., and was raised in Fargo, Okla. She was a longtime resident of Follett. For the past year, she lived in Edmond, Okla. Her first marriage was in 1935 to Glen Frazier at Follett. Her second marriage was to James L. Terrell in 1954. He died in 1997. Survivors include two children, Glenda Lee and Barry Franklin; three sisters; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Orlin E. Patton DUMAS - Orlin E. "Pat" Patton, 70, died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Morrison Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel in Dumas with the Rev. Fred Boatman, retired Baptist Minister of Logan, New Mexico officiating. Mr. Patton was born in Turkey. In 1978, he retired from the U.S. Navy as a Master Chief Petty Officer after 32 years of service. After moving to Dumas in 1985, he did boot and shoe repair until 1988, when he bought a repair shop in Borger. He operated Patton's Boot & Shoe Repair, where he made custom-made boots until January, 1999. He married Carla Lawrence on Aug. 13, 1984 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He is survived by his wife; three daughters; two sons; four brothers, Gayno Patton of Benbrook, John Patton of Ladylake, Fla., Mart Patton of Amarillo and R.J. Patton of Denver; two sisters, Anna Jean Smith and Carolyn Medart, both of Amarillo; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Memorials may be to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. 2nd, Dumas TX 79029. Jernigan, pastor of Calvary Christian Fellowship Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Directors of Shamrock. Mrs. Bryan was born in Simon, Okla. She graduated from Wilson High School in Wilson, Okla., then attended business school in Oklahoma City. In Shamrock, she was business manager for Cliff Hoffman John Deer dealership, Ted Lyle Insurance Co., and the Miller Gin Co. After leaving Shamrock, Mrs. Bryan lived in South Dakota, California, Canada, San Antonio and Brazil. After returning from Brazil, she lived in San Antonio for 11 years then retired to Amarillo in 1982. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Shamrock for many years. She married Thomas Watson "Hook" Bryan in 1928 at Wheeler. He died in 1976. Survivors include a son, Bill Bryan of Fenton, Mo.; a sister, Lois Hodges Kinsloe of Lawton, Okla.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; and a special friend of 75 years, Josephine Bryan Forgy of Amarillo. Mrs. Vandiver was born in Niotaze, Kan., and moved to Sedan when she was 18 months old. She graduated from Clayton High School in 1927. After her marriage, she farmed and ranched with her husband. Mrs. Vandiver was active in Learn and Like Extension Club for many years. She attended Sedan Baptist Church. She married S.R. "Bud" Vandiver in 1935 at Clayton. She was preceded in death by a son, Eddy Ray Vandiver, in 1987. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Carol Arlene McGowen of Sedan; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First United Methodist Church of Clayton with the Rev. Leon Laney, pastor of the Spiritual Life Center in Dalhart, Texas, officiating. Burial will be in Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors of Clayton. Mr. Robinson was born in Wheeler, Texas, and started school in Shamrock. When he was 9, his family moved to the Bunker Hill area and he attended school in Sedan. He served with the Marines from 1954 until 1957. For three years, Mr. Robinson worked for El Paso Natural Gas in Farmington. From 1960 until his retirement in 1989, he worked for Northwest Pipeline Co. He lived mostly in Durango and Bayfield, Colo. In 1989, Mr. Robinson moved to Clayton. He was a member of the Baptist Church in Sedan. He married Mary Ruth Mason in 1954 at Clayton. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Melissa D. Manion of Kansas City, Kan., Vanessa Newcomb of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Teresa Milton of Cedar Ridge, Colo.; a brother, Clifton Robinson of Hartley, Texas; a sister, Alta Faye Callis of Sedan; and seven grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to American Cancer Society. Kansas Jonas E. Koehn SUBLETTE, Kan. - Jonas E. Koehn, 91, died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Salem Mennonite Church in Copeland with Sam Unruh Jr., Steve Unruh and Verle Yost, ministers, presiding. Burial will be in Salem Church Cemetery in Copeland by Haskell County Funeral Home of Sublette. Mrs. Koehn was born in Canton. After his marriage, he moved from McPherson to Sublette where he was a farmer and stockman. He was a member of the Salem Mennonite Church. He married Sophie Mae Giesel in 1930 at Galva. Survivors include his wife; five sons, Granville Koehn of Marienthal, Dennis Koehn of Texline, Texas, and John Koehn, Andy Koehn and Emery Koehn, all of Sublette; three daughters, Annie Schmidt of Rich Hill, Mo., Edna Dyck of Stapleton, Ga., and Lucille Hiebert of Hillsboro; 25 grandchildren; and 32 greatgrandchildren. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
